Omg, my hubby picked up thirty oysters last week. Wow, so glad my hubby found this gem of seafood. This is now our seafood spot. The oysters were fresh, delicious, and a fair size too. No more traveling to San Jose for our seafood cravings. We were shopping at Savemart and picked up oysters from there, and thirty oysters didn't open up on the grill. We were so upset. Couple things that I have observed: one customer service is important, they remember your name if you're a regular and they operate a nice clean operation. Everything that I have purchased seafood related has been A+. I used to think I was allergic to oysters however after a confirmation that I am not I have learned to enjoy a variety of oysters all coming from Ohana. This place was recommended to me by the mchenry village butcher. I needed Chilean Seabass for an important birthday celebration and could not find it anywhere. Ohana's= fresh!!! Ohanas had beautiful swordfish and Alaskan salmon and I decided to place my order. They packaged it up very nice and included a bag of ice so my fish stayed chilled on my drive home. I took home 4 salmon portions and 2 swordfish steaks. The swordfish was inch thick . I prepared the fish simply they way I always make it. I have to tell you- the salmon was probably the best salmon I have ever cooked in my life! It was buttery and tender and so full of flavor. The swordfish I made with a lemon garlic sauce. I pan seared the fish and finished off in a very hot oven, drizzled the garlic lemon mixture in the last few minutes. Needless to say, the birthday dinner was a success and I owe it to Ohana's!!! Not only are they a purveyor of fresh seafood- they have great customer service and went above and beyond. It was very nice to know how long they have been in business and the humble beginnings of how they started just before the pandemic. A hidden gem! I had been wanting to stop by for so long and today I finally made it happen. I was not disappointed, other than being disappointed that I didn't go before now. Service was above and beyond. I asked questions about my selection and I was educated which I greatly appreciated. I picked up some grouper and learned best cooking technique. I followed the instructions shared when I got home. It was the best fish dinner I have had in a long time. The fish had great flavor, moist and best of all, FRESH! The sushi here was fresh! The rolls are simple but delicious! We also bought 2 Ora King Salmon Fillets, and they were amazing!!! The quality and freshness were out of this world. The people helping us told me how to cook it and that it was also sushi grade. So I can prep the fish in many ways, even for poke bowls! When walking into the building, it was very much like walking into a large garage or warehouse, but that doesn't bother me I can see it catching some people off guard, but trust me their seafood is worth it so don't be fooled! How have I lived in the Central Valley for over 30 years, and I just found this place - thanks to Yelp! Amazing seafood, the guys that run it are super helpful and awesome to work with. I would suggest getting there early. They are horrible about answering the phone and do respond to texts, but don't be in a hurry. Just go there. Went on a Friday afternoon and there wasn't a wait. Was able to place an order for Saturday and the line was to the door when I went back to pick up my order. I think they sell out pretty quickly. Wow!!!! This hidden gem has the BEST seafood in the Central Valley! My husband and I called last minute in hopes of finding king crab for our dinner party just a few hours away. John was incredibly helpful, going out of his way to have it delivered from his other location just for us. Within the hour not only did we have the biggest, freshest king crab, but we were also surprised with the option of purchasing a variety of quality oysters. John bagged everything up for us along with giving us great cooking tips and threw in lemons. We couldn't be happier. I promised John to take pictures and post but everything looked so damn good we dove in nom-noms first. I need to add- we purchased 3 lbs of king crab for a dinner party of four and had tons left over. These bad boys were chubby! Very disappointed in Ohana service. I preordered ahead of time and they hardly had anything we ordered when we got there Saturday at noon. No large prawns, no oysters at all and no scallops at all. Stood in line for 30 minutes to find out our order wasn't going to be there. Just ruined our Xmas Eve dinner. Thanks for nothing. The least you can do is call us and let us know but I know I know you're so busy and can't possibly do that. Then hire more people to take care of things like that.
