Use it or lose it??!!…read more I know everybody that's a local. Turlock wants to support their Brick + Mortar grocery store that is family owned. But when you continuously get outdated boxed food or sour grape grapes or fruit that is rotten the money starts to add up that you spend here. I love this grocery store because the people are all very kind to you and you get used to seeing them. But they need someone to do quality control when they bring in the fruit and vegetables. One out of three times the fruit is rotten or un edible. Please people check dates on boxes and check the fruit before you buy it.

We walked straight to the back of the market where two extremely nice employees served us a half roast chicken with a stack of tortillas and salsa. Unable to withstand the delicious aroma a second longer, we popped the box open on the hood of our car and enjoyed an impromptu Modesto roadside picnic. The chicken was absolutely delicious: perfectly juicy, seasoned and crispy skin. It took me several large bites to even remember the tortillas and salsa which made the unexpected mess even better! We enjoyed this place so much, we came back two days later on our way back to the San Francisco Bay Area. If only we lived closer...

Half of the meat I bought was fatty! Again, I understand that a little fat adds flavor, but the amount of fat in two pounds of meat was simply excessive. It appears that shards of fat were mixed in with regular meat. It was ridiculous. I spent the next half hour picking the fat chunks out. Again, this shop has a large selection of meats and cuts, and while I'm sure some are better than others, this was not it! Also, the store can get crowded, and while they have a lot of Mexican food products, the aisles are very close together, and the lines to the register can be confusing.
