I come to Safeway every week , but prefer the Modesto Safeway instead . I purchase deli meat every week and for some reason they will not shave it for me at the Turlock Safeway . Modesto does it without hesitation . So I got that's my go to now . Also they're much more polite and they don't ever close the deli early like Turlock has done several times . read more

The Manager is a piece of work, I ordered a full sheet cake $70.00! It was humiliating! I took pictures took them in and showed the assistant manager, he was very appropriate apologized and said he would have to speak to the manager. I left my contact information my receipt and pictures of the cake. 4 days NO contact from the manager. I go back to Safeway only to hear that I can't get a full refund because I didn't return the cake. Also an employee tried to scam me out of $20 telling me he lost $20 in the store and asked me if he could get gas money. Manager had NO problem with this, told the employee I didn't like him. I don't know him, he was slicing my deli meat! The story goes on and only gets worse, moral of this story Shop at Costco! I was in a Starbucks in Turlock and received excellent customer service from Emily Esquival. I requested a small coffee in a large cup with heavy cream on the side as Emily was taking my order another customer service person was in the back who was changing the garbage bags grab the cup and proceeded to get the coffee without taking her gloves off or washing her hands I expressed my concern with what I just witnessed and I explained that I did not want that coffee the young lady who was changing the garbage began to defend herself saying she was just changing the bag. This to me was disgusting. Emily immediately recognized as I looked at her and said I don't want that and she says you know what I'll take care of you and did she take care of me she took time while there was a line and made the coffee fresh and made the order correct in any other items that I needed was able to fulfill the order that I had placed. Her level of customer service should be recognized and I just wanted to say thank you to her for supporting me. No one knows what people are going through in their lives especially when it pertains to health and that simple gesture was absolutely everything that I needed. read more

Located on the, (Monte Vista ) Exit) off of Highway 99, North & South Bound Freeways provides..." ~ Starbucks ~ FED Ex Shipping Capabilities - I utilize this Safeway offering @ the Customer Service "Desk",located @ the Customer Service desk, to "ship back aka: Return packages to the original sender" Free of cost of course. The Safeway Customer Service Individual, Scan's the packages, barcode into a system & unfortunately, I'm not given in return a "PAPER LABEL" reading that the transaction occured, but instead, I'm told each & everytime as they ask for my EMAIL Address;, that I'll receive a "text" where it confirms the package "drop-off-for-shipment" & the ability to track it... It's a valuable "save paper" resource that appears to be "kind to the Earth & God's creatures"... They have a signed posted at the customer service desk 8 am to 8 pm. This is the second if not the third time I gone in around 7 pm waited 5-10 minutes before the night manager will come and tell she had to close. what kind of customer service training do they have that only one person can print a money order. So my experience with this Safeway was good. I saw that they had a tequila that is very hard to find . I have not been able to find anywhere near me . So I made the trip to Turlock to pick up. I ordered curbside. The girl brought out as soon as I pulled up . She checked my ID then went on her way. Whole process was very easy. I then went inside to grab a couple things for dinner. Produce was nice looking. And I was able to find what I needed with ease. I noticed they had chile verde egg bites. I haven't seen that type anywhere. Looked great. This place seems to be getting worse and worse. They advertise a five dollar special just to find out they do not have it in stock. This has now happened twice in a row. First time they had advertised Pepsi products 18 pack for $5 bucks. I go in and they have none. Rain check please. Fast forward to today, again they advertised $5 dollar Friday. I go in for my disabled father and myself for sodas and hot dogs. They had two 18 packs of Diet Coke and that was it. They were all out of the Casper hot dogs. I hear they only ordered or received one box of hot dogs. Then don't advertise then if you can't get the products in. What would have happened if my disabled father had to get a ride to Safeway to get his necessities just to find out Safeway was out of the products they advertised and he needed? It is already hard enough for him to get around. Get your act straight Safeway. To me it looks like a tactic to get people in the door. Was here yesterday 9/4 with my husband to pick up a prescription. It wasn't ready, not their fault two weeks had passed since it was sent. The woman told us it would be 15 minutes so we did some shopping. Got the scrip. Walked by the deli on the way to the registers and it smelled so good we stopped and got some chicken. The woman that helped us, Claudette Or Claudia (sorry can't remember exactly) was so friendly and helpful. We made our way to a register where Belle checked us out. She was super happy, and funny chatted us up as well as others that were walking by. It was definitely a great experience, customer service isn't what it used to be. I have shopped at Safeway for all my adult life. It was gone from Turlock for a while, but they built a beautiful store a number of years ago, and I have shopped there since it got back. Safeway has always been high-priced in comparison to many other stores, but I love the store and can almost shop in the dark. Sadly, lately, their customer service is awful. I have had to bag my own groceries even with the prices. The curtesy clerks are busy shopping, sweeping, or just standing around talking to management. Whenever I go to grocery and I am only getting few items, my go-to is self check out. I bought a salad, and two fruits ( I over looked , buy 2 get 1) I thought it's buy 1get 1... my bad, but, the rudeness of people here is incomparable. It's 7ish am in the morning. I was calling the attention of a lady who's standing in front of counter 2, which is open and no one is in line.. she kept ignoring me, and then when I get closer, she looked at me and say , wait for the one who can assist you, fair enough, but, not giving much attention to your customer???? Review your manual... then , as I was paying, the guy helped me, and he came back showing me the tag but 2 get 1 free, I told him , I don't need much, I'm only getting one... and he raised his voice , cancel my payment and said " there's nothing I can do or void, it's back to "0", you better do it again", then walked away... duuuhhh!!!! Again customer service... I can only eat what I wanted to get... and if I decided not to get more, it's not for them to be rude! This happened today 3/10/23 @ exactly 7:18am. Great staff. Always coupons to help customers save. Only thing they don't carry at all time is grass-fed organic stew meats. The meat option isn't my favorite. They have great ground beef options but not the rest. Other than that, safe way is pricy. If they can expand the organic section it will be good. read more

I'm not going out of my way to review grocery stores, but the coronavirus has made them the business I frequent most and it's important to relay those experiences. So, Safeway. I'm not a huge fan of Safeway during "normal" times, but I do appreciate the transitions they've made during times when so many are adhering to strict rules and regulations in order to stay safe. Masks were on all employees, there were markers signifying safe social distancing and the staff in general were helpful and friendly. We originally came in (before buying stuff) to use the bathrooms and these were some of the cleaner bathrooms I've ever been to in a grocery store. The selection was solid, with the exception of a couple vegetables we couldn't find. All in all a solid grocery store option! read more

I go to this store quite often. I get really good deals with the just for you card. They have some of the largest apples in here that I have ever seen. The produce department is usually very clean and well stocked. I really like the fresh cut and packaged produce that they prepare on site. Fresh flavored waters also. I usually get good service at the deli department, and Ana is an absolute joy. She really makes my day, and Liz in the meat department is such a sweetheart. read more

The guy Brandon who is suppose to work Guest Service/cash office is lazy and a shit liar. I just needed to change quarters for $5 in bills. I stood there for about five minutes, waiting for somebody to help me. Didn't realize there was supposed to be a button that was somehow under the desk. The lady, I guess service ended up asking me if I needed help and when I said, yeah, she didn't She realized that the button was gone and then said I don't know why the button is not there. She then called him out of his office and he came out and then tried to give me this long story about how the Coinstar is full, which is fine because I know exactly what I need to exchange and I only want to exchange my quarters. When I tried to explain that he then started going on this tangent about how they don't have enough money and only have too much changed so they can't take any more change. I then proceeded to look at the lady for a self check out and was like can I just give you the quarters in exchange for a five dollar bill to which she said yeah that's fine. I don't mind if you don't wanna count all my change then just tell me that don't come up with this story and then also do your job instead of sitting in an office. And yes, everybody can see you through the tinted windows, if that lady didn't say anything, I was about to ask for somebody to come help me at guest service on the pager. read more

This review is for florist department. The store it self is great, clean, professional cashiers. However in the florist section they are rude and have no idea about basic floral arrangement. I attempted to purchase a rose bouquet, she wrapped in a small wet dirty parchment paper with stems sticking out and just a ribbon knotted without bow. I told her I can't give this as a gift. She rolled her eyes got another paper and did the exact same this but with 2 layers of wrapping. I've but flowers from different safeway for decades, worst experience. Very clean store, well laid out with most items easy to find. Reasonably priced for a Safeway. It is within walking distance of my hotel, so that is definitely a plus. My only complaint about the store is that the service is usually pretty darn bad. The people at the Starbucks at the deli are always very nice, but the majority of the other employees I have spoken to seem to think that the customer is an imposition to them. And the actual cashiers can be downright surly. If you can avoid dealing with the employees, it's not a bad place to shop. I've gotten where I just go to the self check-out line. read more

The groceries are fresh and of good quality; the store is absolutely clean; the groceries are a little bit more expensive than Raley's and other competitors, but you get good quality food. I took 2 stars off because when I went to the deli department and wanted to get 2 chicken tenders. The young lady told me I wasnt allowed to get by the piece I can only get by the pound. Since when do I have to get by the pound, I can't eat that much for one person. I don't know if Safeway changed their way or this girl just doesn't know what she is doing.
