I come all the way from Oakdale to shop here! Great prices, good employees and amazing customer service! I love how Joe (the security guard) will make sure the store is being kept safe! The fact that I come from Oakdale tells you a lot! :) read more

Very confusing, items are not priced clearly. Nor listed correctly at the checkout register. Even the clerk was confused.

I was in the store on Briggsmore Rd. in Modesto, Ca. at approx. 1245PM this day and was walking down the aisle and saw a rat approx. over a foot long from nose to end of tail and approx. 4 inches fat. After seeing it walk from one side to the other and go underneath the frozen food freezer like it was normal to do. I know I will not be shopping there anymore if this is the hygiene of the store. read more

Fresh produce and low prices they have sushi bar and it's delicious food at value price

I always enjoy shopping at Food Maxx. Fun to find good deals, and the staff is great.

This Food Maxx ( Brigggsmore Ave) could be a really good store, but lately it seems that the produce and meat selection are going downhill. Many times the green peppers and onions are the size of a small orange. I bought a package of "ribeye" steaks that I think were a lower type of beef cut in the shape of a ribeye. They couldn't have been any tougher so, be careful if you're buying steaks there. Another thing, is a lot of their employees act like they're still in high school. I catch them making snide remarks about the customers, but they think no one notices which is so ridiculous, grow up people! Also, you better watch out for the very tall bug eyed guy who drives the pallets around to load the shelves. He's dangerous , he doesn't look around to see if anyone is nearby and almost hits people. I hope he drives better when he's on the road. Another thing is the self checkout machines don't work. Often it says you've removed an item when you haven't. You have to keep trying to get the cashier to help clear the machine. I just find myself going to this store less and less. read more

Friendly efficient staff, and love the great deals! It's been my "go to" store for years now. Excellent meat and produce

Our cashier was Tony in the a.m quite early. She was very kind and informative since this was my first time in the store. I was pleasantly surprised that the store was so large and so well organized and stocked ! I enjoyed the store so much that I believe I am leaving my local store! Thanks again Tony and see you soon! read more

Today is May 17, 2024. I went shopping at Foodmaxx to buy my groceries when I was approach in the Hispanic, some Mexican guy I will say he wanted me to buy some jewelry off of him a necklace that he was trying to sell he said it was 14 karat gold with a pendant. I do not appreciate this when I'm shopping at Foodmaxx. He said in Spanish that if I was going to give him anything that he was hungry, he was asking $50 he said anything that I was willing to give him, but I don't appreciate this especially when I'm shopping for groceries for my family, This is very inappropriate. I go to a grocery store, especially Foodmaxx to buy my groceries. I don't appreciate being approached by somebody or anybody, to pawn/pass up the jewelry to me, This happened today around 2:00 in the afternoon, it happened right there in the main aisle where they had some Mexican pottery. The guy didn't speak English so I had to speak Spanish and of course I told him no I was not going to buy any jewelry. He said he was really hungry. He needed the money and I told him no that I would not do it, I went to Foodmaxx to buy groceries and that is the reason I was there. I got upset. I continue to do my grocery shopping. Went to self check out bought my groceries and I left. No I did not tell the manager, but I am writing this review for other shoppers to beware ..... read more

NEVER COMING BACK, omg. i came with my mom and before, i was at the gym so i was wearing some leggings and a big shirt and the security guard kept following me and my mom ever since we got in the store! my mom and i always go through every aisle, it's a habit, and the security guard wouldn't even be discreet about looking at me, my mom confronted him and he said he was just looking around the store but kept following us up until we were paying. i know i was wearing tight leggings but cmon, i'm a minor and the security guard was at least 70, with gray hair and glasses. i told the manager, some blonde guy and he said we will tell the people in charge. i hope that security guard doesn't work there or got help at least. haven't been there since, so uncomfortable read more

I have been using the curbside pickup since they had started it with no problems up until the last 3 times I have to pick up my order and have found no place to park because people are parking in the curbside pickup spots and walking into the store to shop. I use this feature because I have a very messed up knee and can't walk far distances so I use the curbside but when jerks park in those spots it takes longer to get my order cuz the person is looking around trying to find my vehicle. They need to move the signs to the curb so people can park and pick up their orders read more

Best grocery store in the Modesto area!! My wife and I have been shopping here since 2010 and even though we moved to Riverbank this is our favorite place for quality products at the lowest prices! Also the staff has always been nice and helpful and most of them have been there as long as I've been shopping, says a lot about the business! read more

This store has sure gone downhill the last couple of years. I ran in here yesterday, a Monday morning, at 9am. I went here needing just a couple things and wanting to get in and out quickly, so I chose FoodMaxx over Winco. The first thing on my list was bananas, and no joke there were zero bananas in the store. I used to work at a grocery store when I was younger, so I know Sundays there's usually no produce delivery. But Monday morning at 9am there should be plenty. Someone doesn't know how to order correctly, or their produce supplier was running several hours late. Either way, no excuse for a giant store like FoodMaxx to not have bananas. Bananas were the most obvious thing missing, but there several other holes also. The produce dept. looked terrible overall. Next on my list was coffee, but for some reason FoodMaxx wanted to insult me and try to sell me Peet's for $9.99 when Winco has the same exact product for $5.99 across the street... almost half the price! I was 0/2 so far with my list. Now that FoodMaxx is no longer open 24 hrs, and they keep their bathrooms LOCKED (is this a grocery store or a gas station?) forcing you to find someone to give you a passcode, I really don't think I'll be back. It's a shame because I used to like this store. Being owned by SaveMart, their beef is much better quality than Winco's, but unfortunately this store has turned too ghetto. read more

Extremely rude girl at checkout today at 7:30 pm on 8/23. I am not a Karen at all but I don't like when people are extremely rude for no reason. I worked a 14 hr shift and I am an engineer and I remain extremely humble as a person can get. I was asking her questions because the system kept crashing. She kept rolling her eyes at me. Then when I asked her for bags she was like "oh they are right there" with the worst attitude. I usually experience extremely good customer service here but today was literally uncalled for. You should be nice to people regardless of anything unless they are being rude of course but you never know what people are going through. Be nice girl if not you won't succeed in life with an attitude like that. Even if you were having a bad day that sucks but that was uncalled for. read more

I don't go here often but, when I do, the ratchetness of the area and store seems to rub off on their employees. Rude and inattentive. Oh , and watch out for a bugged- eyed cart pusher. He lacks common decency and common sense when pushing those carts. I really hope he doesn't drive if he can't control those carts properly. read more

Worst grocery store I've ever had the displeasure of visiting. Horrendous produce, sub par meats. Looks like a guaranteed bout with food poisoning. Prices are way too high for the mediocre quality. Looks like most of their stuff was brought in as seconds from a flea market or fell off the back of a truck. read more

I love they price match. One place to stop and grocery shop. I really appreciate the meat dept. Always so helpful and even though I did get a bad package of pork ribs they were so good to give me a credit and I got a new package. Love to shop here when I'm in Modesto. Helpful staff and good selection of food products. The produce could be a bit fresher but prices are great. It is a bag your own grocery kinda place but I have had a worker offer to bag my goodies once or twice when it was slow...very nice. And I'm a pretty quick bagger but it was slow they offered so I was like sure bag it for me :) stop in for a few items for your dinner tonite or your whole months groceries...again best prices. GOOD PRICES AFOOT! While it is no Costco, this may be the cheapest place for groceries that aren't complete garbage. The produce and meats are always fairly fresh, although the bread should be vetted thoroughly. I saw bagels today that were pretty moldy. I am not a fan of the checkout lines. While economical, it is odd walking behind the cashier while paying. You bag your own groceries, which is not a problem unless terribly slow (or drunk) patrons are in front of you. Always lots of parking and at night there is a security guard. A big, cheap grocery store that trades off prices for luxury. Basically the opposite of Bel-Air. Go here if you need cheap food in a hurry. read more

Well not much different from other food maxx's which is a good thing because no one likes to hunt down a needle in a hay stack, especially if its 10 items or less run. Speaking of... I have NEVER seen a "10 items or less" lane at a food maxx. What DEEEE funk yoo! My list IS usually 10 times or less and its annoying standing behind those inconsiderate shoppers who have 4 grocery carts and they FAIL to notice people with few items and don't have the courtesy to let them in front of them... Whatever! Well this place was clean, organized, friendly staff but I still had to wait 20 min before I checked out with my "10 times or less." Cheers! read more

I honestly couldn't decide whether to give the store a 5 star or a 2. I hate the location but you can't beat the prices when things are $2 cheaper than the other grocery stores in town. read more

This place is a nice clean store. Pretty quiet in the mornings which is nice, great selection on produce and meats. Had to get ice cream for the kids at work. Couldn't beat the prices for Sunnyside ice cream sandwichs and ice cream cups. $1.50 for 6 sandwiches and $2 for 12 cups of ice cream. I will definitely be back in the summer to stock up. Nice that they had a cart full of bread that would expire that week for only .99. Bought a loaf to freeze! Great store and will be back when in the area. read more

Decided to give this place one last try since I had coupons. This is definitely the last time! I have consistently run into issues with them being completely out of shit. It doesn't do any good to ask if they have any more product in the back, because their answer is always no. Sometimes, it's because they're too lazy to look. I tried to buy Sunmaid Raisin Bread, but they were completely out AGAIN. The frozen chicken was completely limited, too. Also, they don't rotate products on the shelves, so be careful when you buy dairy: check the expiration dates when you buy! Lastly, the prices aren't what they used to be. I can no longer walk out of there for less than $40, their prices are too damn high. read more

Yesterday we called FoodMaxx to see if we can have someone cut up some beef for us to make some jerky. When my husband asked the butcher if there's someone there to slice the meat the butcher answered with "well it has to get cut somehow." So my husband started to explain what he needed and the butcher proceeded to answer with "you should just go to Savemart." And then hung up on him. Well sir, that's what we will doing from now on. Rotisserie chicken. That is all. So we'd come off of a long road trip and the last thing we wanted was "take out" but at the same time wanted something easy. My husband and I walked into FoodMaxx and the smell of the chicken hit us...we went back to where the chicken is and it was EMPTY...we wandered by the meat department doors to see if there was going to be more...and (wait for it) they were pulling more chickens off of the rotisserie fire (yes, we saw it) OH MY GOSH -- this may be the best chicken I've ever had...so we paired it with some Caesar salad mix from there and some rolls and dinner was DONE (fast, easy, delicious and pretty healthy) Woweee...FoodMaxx, I've shopped with you because of the convenience to my house location -- but ooooooweee you do Rotisserie chicken RIGHT!!!
