Service was quick. I did ask if they sold sandwiches but their specialty is their baked goods and coffee. I was given my receipt and told by staff that I could get 15% off my order at the restaurant next door if I presented it to them. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant and the staff warmed it up for me. The croissant was flaky and I liked the everything but the bagel seasoning on top. I also purchased their chocolate chip cookie and a chocolate muffin. The cookie was thick and chewy on the inside. The semi sweet chocolate chucks topped with sea salt was a delightful combination which uplifted my energy levels during that dreaded afternoon crash. My coworker ate the chocolate muffin and she said it made her day! Mind you, she doesn't even like chocolate! After placing my order I took a walk around. The layout of the bakery let's the customers see the bakers crafting the delicious pastries. The calming music, the pops of green plants, mixed with the eclectic collection of vintage decor made me sparkle with inspiration. This feels like a place you can come with friends to catch up. Stopped by Bakeshop, the cute little local bakery next to the children's museum, for a quick breakfast on our way to Fresno. It wasn't busy around 8:30am, which made it an easy and relaxing stop. The staff were friendly, and there were already plenty of fresh pastries out and ready to go. We picked up the sweet potato twist, pizza danish, and a Biscoff sticky bun. The pizza danish (especially when warm) and the Biscoff sticky bun were both really delicious. We were a little worried the sticky bun would be overly sweet, but it was surprisingly well-balanced and not too sugary at all, which we really enjoyed. The sweet potato twist was the only miss for me--it didn't have much sweet potato flavor and tasted more like a cinnamon bun. Definitely needed to be heated up to bring out more flavor. Adorable place. Came here for the first time to read and chill before a local bowling event. Having their own bakery area provides some nice fresh chooses to go with one's coffee or team. A little parking on the street and right across the street is a nice parking garage so there was no problem finding a spot. Finally stopped by after being curious about it forever! What a charming vibe - very light and open and comfortable. Plenty of space between tables. I came on a Thursday right before closing and the very friendly and kind young man behind the counter gave me cookies freshly baked rather than the ones that were on display and not as fresh. I thought that was very kind of him. And wow. The chocolate chip cookies! So delicious! Blows any other cookie out of the water. Perfect texture: crisp on the outside, just perfectly soft on the inside. Great flavor and I always appreciate the balance of sprinkled sea salt on top. There was no one else in the business (again it was 10-minutes to closing) and I was just picking up an order of chocolate chip cookies, but the inside is super cute and I definitely want to go back and try more and stay for a coffee. This is my first time checking this place out the ambiance is there but the service fell short. I love to support small businesses! The place is very nice and inviting and the vibes are all there. I will say when we walked in we were not greeted and the staff was not the most appreciable or friendly. Maybe it was an off day. The coffee menu is very basic and limited but what I did order was decent. The pastry's are very fresh and they bake them in house that part was amazing. I will defiantly come back cause I'm sure the bad customer service was just maybe a bad day and I get that. I will say, I did see the owner interviewing someone, she interviewed the person, while on the other side of the counter, standing up, she seemed in a hurry and she did not acknowledge us at all. Such a cute bakery in Downtown Modesto! Loved the decor. This is a great place to come and get some studying or work done. The seating area is pretty big so there are plenty of seats to choose from. We came to try their cruffin, but they sold out unfortunately. Tried their monkey bread and salted caramel bread pudding. Both paired well with a nice hot cup of coffee. I just wanted to grab something quick and check out the bake shop briefly since I had already eaten breakfast. However, I feel like this bakeshop would be a lovely place to sit down and have a coffee and breakfast snack, too. I love the brick walls of this place, as it gives the shop a slight rustic vibe. I did not feel like they had much bakery selections when we went. I was hoping to find more savory things, but mostly sweet things were on display. Since my husband and I were going to make a gingerbread house later, I decided to buy 2 macarons to hopefully use for the gingerbread house. They were definitely on the more pricey side of macarons, even in the Bay Area and Paris macarons have not cost as much as they did at this bakeshop, but they tasted festive as we ordred green macarons with a peppermint filling. I also realize I should have asked for a box to contain the macarons, as macarons are fragile so I found it a little strange that they gave me a bag. In any case, service was friendly, and I don't know if I would go out of my way to come to this bakery again, but if I'm in the area and am carving something sweet, perhaps I would stop by. read more

The Bakeshop, it pains me to write a 4 star yelp review. But the truth is I have been there 3 times and it just hasn't been perfect. One time the register messed up, another time the line got long and a good wait time had occurred at the point of purchase. But never mind all that! The Bakeshop is amazing!! I haven't tried much of the coffee here besides an iced caramel macchiato. It was more on the basic side but the service was great and very quick. I really enjoyed their peppermint brookie. It's been some time since my last post but I just had to give this new bakery a shout out. I was promptly greeted by the owner, Ashley with a bright smile and a big hello. She gave me a quick rundown of all the pastries on display and I narrow it down to 4 because one was not enough. She recommend the lemon loaf and the pumpkin loaf. Wow I don't know where to even start that lemon loaf was to die for. It had a great frosting and a good balance of moistness and lemon. They also give you a nice thick slice. The pumpkin loaf was an explosion of flavor 2 thumbs up. Then I wanted something savory, so I tried there butter croissant and there everything bagel croissant with ham and cheese which was also amazing. I also had there drip coffee it was on point. The girls that help me are always really nice but it's usually just 1 person working the counter. Best croissant I EVER ate! I know...you think "It's a croissant. How good can it be?" Crispy but not crunchy on the outside and tender pillowy inside. We also tried the sticky bun. I finally got around to trying Bakeshop. I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. They were hard at work baking, but they each said hello. I ordered the vegan pumpkin loaf. I'm not vegan, but I love pumpkin. It was moist and full of flavor. I also ordered a s'mores cookie. Usually marshmallow isn't my first choice, but it looked so irresistible, I couldn't resist. There wasn't too much marshmallow on it which was perfect for me. The buttered croissant was delicious. So flaky and buttery. I will definitely be back! I'd also say the prices are extremely fair for what you get. Starbucks charges about the same for frozen items they ship in. I'd rather have something made in house daily. read more

First and foremost, get a cinnamon roll! Hands down best cinnamon roll in the world and I've tried as many as possible. Grabbed some cookies and scones as well and everything was truly amazing. You can tell they put a lot of pride in what they do. The staff was friendly and greets you with a smile. The owner, even though busy baking, took time to stop, say hello, and truly engage a nice conversation and "thank you so much" to us. Really awesome to get amazing treats and amazing service.
