Here's what I just liked: The cake part of the red velvet, mousse, and carrot cake was a bit dry. They were beautifully decorated, the frosting and fillings were great, but the cake itself just wasn't as soft and moist as I was hoping. Still, I found a couple of nice items (red velvet and some serious chocolate cake) my wife loved the chocolate but we found the red velvet to be quite dry and hard. I suspect that it had been in the case far too long. Fortunately the chocolate was so good, my wife said that it more than made up for it. Overall, the ambiance was simple bakery, nice folks, serving well. I suspect where these nice folks shine is in pre-orders (which makes TOTAL sense, as foot traffic, particularly in this bakery's location would be a tough sell indeed). I suspect that we will be keeping Dessert European Cakes and Pastries in mind for our upcoming bakery needs.

I was…read moreplanning a 60th surprise party for my mom and found this place just randomly by searching online for cupcakes in the Modesto area. Let me first say I live in the Bay Area where high end cupcake boutiques are abundant and I work in the sweets and confections industry so not to sound snobby but I have very high expectations for my desserts. Since the party was going to be in Modesto I wanted to find a local baker for the cupcakes. I first visited their website and everything looked lovely they make cupcakes, cakes and cookies so I decided to give them a try. Within a day I got a response from the owner Lauren. I told her I wanted to do a "Dutch" theme for the cupcakes and cookies- think tulips and windmills. Lauren said she could do that, I sent her just a few inspirational pictures I found online and that was that. A couple weeks later it's party day and I'm not really sure what to expect but given what I saw from the website I was confident these would turn out great. Lauren promptly arrived at the party venue with the delivery (about 80 cupcakes and 80 cookies) and I was beyond impressed! Her creations were beyond my expectations! I will post the picture so prospective customers can see how incredible they look. The tulips on the cupcakes were perfect and the windmill cookies were spot on, I can't believe she was able to do such a specific intricate request. In addition to how beautiful they were they tasted just as amazing! The cupcake frosting was mouthwatering and the cake was the perfect texture (she can do pretty much any flavor you want). The cookies were equally incredible. I can tell she must use premium products but without the premium price which is awesome. Everyone at the party was loving them all asking where I got them.
