They have an array of mouthwatering refreshing desserts. I have only gotten the pineapple dole whip or the strawberry/pineapple swirl. I'm not close to Disney or Mission Beach in San Diego. This is my go to when in need of something sweet and reviving. I love that I can get it here close to where we reside. Service can be slow, but the young people that work here are always really nice. My experience at PURA VIDA has been amazing, we go there quite frequently. The owner Jill is very hands on and always has a great smile while greeting us. if you haven't tried the Ice's and coffee there, you are missing out she participated at The Miracle League last weekend and it was fabulous. the customers loved that she had so many different flavors for them to choose from. if you haven't been there, Her shop is Standiford / Tully in the shopping center. read more

I drive over an hour just to get this! After having this in Hawaii, this is the next best place! They now have mango dole whip but I'm not a fan of Mango, but definitely must stop in for this! We tried the shaved ice with mango, pineapple and strawberry flavors, and it was absolutely delicious! The sweetness was perfectly balanced--not too much--and the fruit flavors tasted fresh without the essence being overpowering. A special shout-out to the young girl who prepared our order. I'm a big fan of Pura Vida Shaved Ice. Everyone I've gone (which has been most of the summer) it's been a great experience. The team there is solid and friendly and the shaved ice is great. Shaved ice was decent but the flavors I got were watered down and I was unable to distinguish the flavors. Be careful of what you order. The prices on the menu display are not accurate. After asking for the receipt to be texted to me (they do not give printed receipts), I found out that the prices are actually increased. I brought it up to the workers and was just told to just call the number to speak to the manager. I told them that if they are aware of the price differences then they need to also inform the customers too. I'm only giving one star for the shaved ice. Service and price transparency needs improvement. read more

I love this place! The flavors here are so good and the fact that they have a ton of Sugar Free flavors makes it even better. Staff is always super friendly and place is always spotless clean. It's located right next to the Modesto Cigar Lounge which is perfect for when the nicotine rush hits you can just walk over here and get some sugar in you to counteract it. read more

So to start it off, when i went inside the owner already had an attitude and when i started to ask how much extra sweet cream would be, she shrugged it off and rolled her eyes. so i sat back down and waited till another cashier or employee came up and i just wanna say that the girls name ariana i think, she was so sweet and she told me that the sweet cream was 1.50$ so then that was only the first half. the next time i went it i ordered the pink bbg and it tasted HORRIBLE. i could not eat it because it tasted like chemicals. i asked them to remake it for me and the manager went on to say that im lying, that the pink taste like bazooka bbg and the blue tasted tart. i dont care what the difference is, all i asked for was for it to be remade. luckily an employee remade it for me once she left. the last and final time i went i seen a roach on the wall with the mirror...BY THE BAR! WHERE PEOPLE EAT!!! i was horrified and will definitely not be returning. the manager is always so rude and too old to run this place. they need a new manager, the whole staff looks miserable and i can tell that it is definitely not because of the job... it's because of the manager and i agree with them. people complain about the service not being that great but frankly i applaud them for being able to be nice while the manager is there because i know i wouldnt be able to it! after hearing all these horrible stories online about her i wish for the best for all her VICTIMS. i havent been there since but my sister has and she hasnt seen ariana there, she was great and i hope she got out of there. please dont EVERRRRR come to this establishment, this monstrosity of an establishment is purely unacceptable. i dont understand how they havent been shut down yet. read more

It was over 100 degrees in the Modesto area this past Monday, so why not go out for a treat for shaved ice? It's a really easy and convenient trip since it has a drive-thru and the workers come out to deliver to your car after ordering! Not sure if this really matters much to me anymore since I'm vaccinated, but to whom it might concern, this place isn't COVID-19 safe since the staff do not wear any masks or gloves. If you're paranoid about COVID-19, it's probably best to hold off visiting until either you're vaccinated or feel safe about staff workers not wearing any masks. Anyway, I ordered a Childs size Georgia Peach and Mango shaved ice for $3.25. It tasted mostly as expected and was a bit refreshing since it was pretty hot throughout the day, but I was wasn't anything over the top or something I'd crave unless it was strictly hot. The entire presentation just seemed underwhelming and nothing too special. I'd argue just having a logo on the cup rather a styrofoam cup would make it seem like I'm getting a dessert personalized and not just something that was mixed within 10 seconds. The materials used for presentation all seemed like they were grabbed at Safeway for the cheapest possible price. If you're desperate for a cheap dessert on a hot sunny day, give this place a try and you might not regret it? I did see a sign that they were selling Dole Whip which I know is extremely delicious. I'll eventually come back and update another review getting that. read more

Pura Vida takes me back to all the wonderful memories of my various trips to Hawaii. When you walk in you are just hit with the greatest vibes. The service is always outstanding, there are soooo many options on the menu that if you are like me and feeling adventurous you can have a new flavor experience each time. I just thought I would put a warning out there for anyone who frequents Pura Vida. I stopped in there yesterday to treat my family to a shaved ice. After I paid for my purchase I sat at the table and realized I paid a higher price, a dollar more per shaved ice. I was able to talk to the person behind the counter who told me that they had brought this to the manager/owners attention. They informed me that the manager knows that they are charging a different price on the register than what is listed on the board. They also said that customers have complained but they refuse to fix the problem. So just so you know you're being over charged. I find this pretty shady!! They're literally robbing their customers. read more

Honestly if y'all get this stressed when the temperature is 90 degrees, I don't know how you're going to handle it when it gets over 100 and people are out of school. Terrible service for no reason from the little girl working and there's no reason to take it out on customers, it's not a good look for the business. I doubt better training could fix that attitude. If you hate your job just quit instead of being rude and condescending. I don't need a literal child talking down to me like they're somebody special. Make sure they put enough syrup for this 7.00 snow cone. They only coated the outside which was tasty. Then that was it. Everything inside was bare ice with no flavor. Prices are already high but when businesses try and cut out their ingredients to save a buck is not cool. read more

Place used to have the best snow cones in the country around 2014 or so. Now they've hired new staff, and the quality has went way, way down. The snow used to be powder fine, and served in big flower cups, with lots of flavor. Now it's in a generic Styrofoam cup so the ice falls off onto your lap while eating it, the top half is mostly ice with no flavor while the bottom half is mush within a minute or two, and worst of all, the ice is now in regular, generic larger chunks that you get from anywhere else that serves snow cones. Really depressing to see this place go downhill this much. read more

Horrendous experience waited over 15 mins to be told it could be another 5 or 10 mins for a single icee. They say because the person before me ordered multiple things. INSANE. If your time has no value, by all means you can watch 4 people stand there, one will make the ice and the other three will just look lost. Then when you get a refund. They don't have receipts. So there's that. Maybe 711 isn't so bad after all. If your rune has ANY value, save yourself. read more

TBF, I was at a fair when I tried this place, so the prices were high, but fortunately there was a large amount of food served therefore it didn't come off as a waste of money ( around $15 to $20 , however the dogs and fries are sold separately, no combos or anything). Being in a fair it was the kind of environment expected at a county fair: Benches, canopies, hot weather and family entertainment. This place is entirely amazing. I love the feng shui first of all. I always look for a good ambiance. I somehow talked with one of the owners- a young girl actually, who looked almost too young to be a business owner, but I applaud their efforts. I might be a little bias because the owners are both somewhat recent graduates of UC Davis, and being a Sac State Alumni, that was our rival. With their Aggie Pride aside, they are super friendly and really wanted to ensure I was happy with my purchase. They let me sample several different flavors in small sample cups before I decided on a selection and chatted with me all the while. I could tell they were really actually interested in hearing from me not just talking to be polite. It was some of the best customer service I've had in a while. The Shaved Ice was REAL Hawaiian Shaved Ice. It was perfect for the triple digit weather outside. I noticed they have a coffee/espresso bar AND a drive thru. .... A+ in my book. I came back about a week later and decided to utilize the drive thru- but there were 4 cars ahead of me. Trying to save the ozone I decided to get my lazy... legs out of the car and walk inside. The store was PACKED but that seemed to be a sign of a good products, right? The employees worked fast and efficiently and I found my new favorite delight- their version of a Frapuccino. WOW! What a treat. Do not miss this gem of a spot. Without a doubt one of the best in the area when you're looking hide from the Valley heat for a bit. Awesome environment and the staff could not be more genuine and helpful. These guys DO NOT SKIMP on their delicious homemade syrups either. My Tigers Blood ice was soaked and delicious down to the last slurp. My kids and I left totally refreshed and super stoked on the amazing shaved ice we had.
