Shop here often since I live close by. Ordered a cake for my daughter's bday and it was even in their picture book. She asked if I wanted it exactly like picture a d I told her yes. Picked up cake today...talk about a huge disappointment! Wasn't even remotely like the picture. Went back to show them the picture in the book and it was removed for some reason. Party was starting shortly, so I took it anyway. Not happy with it at all. I would never have ordered that cake based on appearance. One from the refrigerated area looked more attractive. I don't know about this place. I never do my main bit of shopping here. It just seems a little too... something... I don't know. I guess the prices are okay, but I feel like you can get good prices in any place if you shop smart. A real turn off for this place is their Ikea-like set up that "encourages" customers to follow a certain "path" through the store. I discovered this one day when I went in to buy 1 drink item. I headed straight to the item from the doors which set me on an opposite course from their pre-determined path. An employee actually stopped me to tell me that I was going the wrong way. I told them that I was going to the item I wanted to purchase. I even pointed at the item which we both could both see from where we stood. The employee insisted that I turn around and walk through the produce department to gain access to the item I wanted to purchase. I asked him if he was willing to lose a customer over a silly fung shui setup. He said no and I thanked him as I walked to my item. Was all that really neccessary? It was a total turn off. read more

I shop here all the time, and usually the experience is just kinda "meh." Last night, as I was absolutely exhausted and picking up some stuff for the next morning, I was waiting in the usual long line. I saw an associate walking toward me and thought "oh man! maybe he's going to open another register!" My hopes were dashed as he walked right past me, however. Apparently the gentleman infront of me had the same though, be cause he told him, jokingly, "Aw man, I thought you were going to open a register! You go my hopes up man." The associate, "Jose R" on his his nametag, immediately opened a new lane for myself and the gentleman in front of me. I've never seen such prompt customer service, and I'll be sure to use his aisle again. read more

Best place to get groceries at a generous price. I shop here after eating at Chong's next door. It's important to grocery shop after eating rather than before. Doing so will help in lowering cost. The workers keep the produce and shelf space in tip top shape. This is my go-to grocery store when I'm in turlock. read more

If you are eating a sandwich and you drop it on the ground, do you pick it up and put it back in your mouth? I was at this food max, there was an apple lying on the floor, the guy who works there picked it up and put it on the shelf. People go to restrooms where theres urine on the floor, bacterium attaches to the shoes , walking in the store, bacteria now attached to apple, customer buys, takes it home, kids don't wash apple, kid eats . So efing gross ! Not to mention the contributing factor to diseases. Not just the apple , they do it to anything that falls . My suggestion, dont overload the stupid shelves, if it hits the ground, throw it away. It goes to compost. I have stopped shopping there, god knows what they do in the back room. read more

My fav grocery store. Huge selection at cheap prices. Even alcohol here is cheap. Also have a coinstar if you wanna cash in your change for bills. Very big and aisles are spacious so your not banging into other ppl's carts. Can get very busy just wish they would have a few more checkstands open when its super busy but other than that this place is the best grocery store in the Turlock area. read more

I shop here for the good prices on several items such as milk, boxed and canned goods. I would never buy meat, vegetables or any other exposed items for the simple fact that they allow people to bring pets into the store. They are definitely not service animals because service animals are trained animals that are used for specific services. It is disgusting to think that I would cook dinner with possible dog hair on my food. Yes food is to be washed before cooking but never the less it is still masty. Some people out there have allergies to pets as well. Save Mary has a sign that says No Animals Allowed. Why can't Foodmaxx do the same? read more

This is my last time shopping at FoodMaxx. Very very poor customer service from the managers during the 6pm shift. One of the managers names is Jeff who was cashier on lane 6 at the time of the altercation that myself and another shopper had. I used to work at this location and it's sad to see this place go down from when I was an employee back in 98 to the early 2000's. I was completely embarrassed and totally pissed off because not only was I threatened, but I was also told that because the gentlemen who cut in front of me with a full grocery cart which wouldn't of been a big deal if they said excuse me or I'm sorry do you mind, nobody knows my story just like I don't know there's and for this man to say to me he's allowed to cut in line or do whatever he pleases because he's Mexican and in his words we as Mexicans do whatever we want now and if I don't like it move. I can be the nicest guy but this crap has blown up way to much. Special f'ing treatment?? I would never ever do that to anyone. Both managers seen and didn't hear it all and helped others instead of helping me with the least amount of merchandise in my cart and made me stay in that same line while the manager Jeff walked by me and helped other cashiers instead of maybe defusing the situation and getting us all out of the situation. Was having a nice day off, it was all good til I went to Food Maxx in Turlock 1845 Countryside Dr Turlock, CA 95380 I got some fruit and wine coolers, as the checker named Virginia checked out my groceries she noticed a wine cooler was different from the others, I was unaware of this. She then continues to talk to me like some little kid. I am surely no kid but a grown woman. She belittled me in front of other customers behind me. she was very very rude and made my experience at that store unpleasant, actually ruined the good day I was having. The manager should fire her. I would not go back there again. These days times are hard..and people don't want to go to stores where the customer service is bad. Went into this store a few days ago and not knowing where an item was, I asked a guy who looked to be a manager to show me where I could find that item. I think his name was Mike or something like that, and he straight up told me he didnt have time to show me and told me to find someone else to ask. I thought that was very unprofessional, so I left and I wont be back. read more
