I'm very disappointed with the customer service and online ordering at this Smart & Final location. I placed an order through the app for pickup around 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 23rd, but received a text that my order was picked up at 1:00 p.m. -- which was not the case. I tried calling the store, but no one answered, so I decided to go there in person. When I spoke to the Assistant Manager and Manager, they couldn't provide a clear explanation. One said all staff have access to online orders, and maybe someone mistakenly marked it as picked up, while another suggested my items were given away to someone else. This felt very unprofessional! No one apologized or seemed concerned about my $350 order. One Manager offered to re-shop my items, which took over an hour, and then he never followed up. I ended up sitting in my car with my young child, wasting time. They didn't even offer a refund. I eventually received my items, but the whole experience was frustrating and made me suspect internal issues. I was also told that their phone lines don't work when it is a hot day. Who knows about that being the case! A few days later, I noticed the pickup parking spots were gone. Clearly, something happened, but they won't admit it. This store still looks as if it were still Brand-spanking-new. No exaggeration; it is in great shape & they keep the isles free from debris. The floors are immaculate as well. The 99-cent Store could use some serious consulting with Smart & Final Extra! that's for sure AND the 99-cent store has OFFICIALLY circled the drain since it appears its ownership may have transferred owners/leasers. Either way, the 99-cent store just doors down from this awesome Smart & Final Extra! has officially crossed-over into a "Ghetto Storefront" I'm saddened to say...Yet, I digress... I mainly patron this storefront for the LARGE VARIETY of Torani Sugar-Free Syrups that me and my mother have been enjoying since 2002 I'd say. We used to be limited, to purchasing online, since way back then, due to our low-carb lifestyle but now Smart & Final Extra! has made purchasing & enjoying sugar-free syrup living super easy to access & afford. I use the Peach, Strawberry (very authentic berry flavor & bright red color) the black cherry, and the "new" sweetened with/out sugar, Vanilla offerings monthly. It's great to scoop up several bottles that are affordable & get utilized weekly. Just one area of request Smart and Final Extra! is this: Would you please consider offering DaVinci Sugar Free BANANA syrup? It makes for some amazing fruit smoothies for those watching sugar & carbs in their diet. A store in Modesto used to receive our business but they lacked in customer service every time we'd (Mom & Me) and would flat out ignore us. Not sure why reprisal was present but it was strong enough to take the hint that our business was not welcome there. I don't know........ I make myself and my beloved Mama frozen fruit smoothies with Swanson Vitamins brand Pea-Protein Powder. The quality is great & it's super low priced @under $20 for a good-sized jug. This mail-order Pea Protein from Swanson does NOT TASTE LIKE PEA's as many do. It's sorta Vanilla-ea in flavor. Back to this storefront. I really like Smart & Final Extra and their "electronic coupons". If you can figure out how to use their "App.", you can save lots of money on their weekly sales because you must use the App. to obtain the savings. No biggie! :) Thanks, Smart & Final Extra! for such an immaculate storefront and I wouldn't hold your breath on the 99-cent store down your way making it in business much longer; it's become an official "dump" in the area of rubbish. . One day, when I am able to afford shopping here, I look forward to how relaxing and safe the store feels outside and inside. Zero loitering allowed. We have heard a lot about Smart and Final but never made a trip to check it out. We were finally in the neighborhood and decided to stop in as we needed a few grocery items. We were pleasantly surprised by the large amount of choices of products available and the quality of the produce. The fruits and veggies were very fresh. My husband spied a brisket in the meat department that was very reasonably priced for the size. We needed assistance finding a couple of items and the employee we asked was extremely helpful and took us to the correct location to find what we needed. While this store is not super close to our house, I think we will definitely pay a visit when we don't want to go to Costco or Super Wal-Mart for groceries! read more

Glad this place finally opened in Turlock so I don't have to drive to Modesto any more. Because I live on the East side of town, I haven't been to Costco for food products since. Great prices and selection of food items. A little lacking on household items, personal hygiene products, and medicines. No electronics and their beer selection is basically domestics. However if you like Modelo Especial, I don't think there is a store in California that carries more than this place. 3/4 of their beer cooler is Modelo Especial! Don't be afraid to have your beer supplier bring in more microbrews. Their store brand (First Street) is good quality and low priced. The only BIG concern I have is how long it takes to check out at this place. They need a better system besides the line wrapping all the way around to the frozen food isle. I'll continue to shop here for my bulk food products. read more

The guy directed ppl to cashiers was an idiot! Told me to lane 4 while no one there, made me wait until the cashier showed up even the next lane was open ? Do not use the delivery option. My order was wrong, sealed packaging was open and my expensive tomatoes were spoiled. Good luck finding a store phone number, only a corporate customer service contact is provided. They ignored these issues and only addressed no receipt being included with my delivery. read more

This is a cool store! The interior is brand new and very nice. Lots of produce selection. No in house bakery, butcher or deli but they do have packaged baked goods and meat. They sell a lot of bulk stuff, so if you need a big bag of flour/sugar or bulk produce you could come here. They also have a great selection of restaurant supply items - takeaway containers, sheet pans, bowls, food storage, knives, spatulas, big rolls of plastic wrap/foil, etc. for reasonable prices. This would be a good place to go if you do catering. You can do normal grocery shopping here, too, it's not like Costco where everything is in bulk. I placed a large order on the Smart & Final website for curbside pickup. I received my confirmation, confirmed the store and pickup date/time, and was good to go. When I arrived at that time, I called the store as the email directed me to. As soon as an employee answered with, "Hello?" (Lol) and was talking to other people while I was talking to her, I could tell this want going to go smoothly. She put me on hold. Another employee picked up and thought I was trying to find an item. Yelled at the other girl for giving her the wrong information. Then put me on hold again. I got through to a manager, was put on hold again (a total of over 15 minutes holding). Basically, in the end, they did not have my order ready. I had already left the store by that time, because I figured that. The manager was convinced it was because I ordered through Instacart. I did not. I didn't order delivery. I ordered curbside pickup through the site. She said, "Well, the employees are pretty good about checking for orders." (??) Even with my confirmation number, she wasn't able to help me. I think they just dropped the ball and maybe don't do many curbside orders, because they had no idea how to handle it. read more
