It was decent and portions were good, but not even close to the best Thai food I've had in Modesto. Depth was seriously lacking each dish. Sour and heat notes in my beef laab were completely missing and it was quite disappointing. This is, hands down, the best Thai food in Modesto and rivals anything you might have had in other places. This is the choice. When I recently relocated locally, I worried about one thing - I lived within a couple miles of two enormous and varied Thai population centers in LA, was used to world-class Thai restaurants AND delicious mom-and-pop Americanized takeout, and I worried I would have to decrease the importance of Thai food in my weekly rotation. My first exportations in town with other restaurants reinforced this; and then I found Golden Spoon. First, the place looks great. Very well designed and peaceful looking interior. Comfortable tables and a variety of types of seating - anyone could easily be comfortable. But wow! I've been back here nearly 10 times in just a couple weeks. I've explored the menu quite a bit now and haven't had a single disappointment. The flavors are clear, fresh and distinct - great peanut sauce, terrific curries including a pumpkin curry, that is kind of a specialty of theirs, which I had never had anywhere else. The Green Curry and Panang were spectacular too. Completely solid Pad Thai that tastes the way it should with perfectly prepared noodles and your choice of protein. My favorite warm-day treat has been their Yum Woon Sen. Fresh salad of vegetables with cool glass noodles, ground chicken and a lime citrus dressing. And the service is so sweet! Nice people who obviously care about their business and the food they serve. They've been outstandingly personable from my first visit. Every few days I feel hungry again for Golden Spoon but I'm not worried because the sheer number of choices on the menu mean I'm never going to get bored. Really, this is the best. Yay! A new Thai restaurant has arrived. Service- It was good! I think it was the owner who took my order but she was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was incredible. Incredible flavor and just overall amazing. I will say the prices are definitely overpriced but idk if it's because of inflation or who their vendor is. The mangos are incredible btw. Having seen this new spot on social media, I decided to check it out for myself and I'm glad that I did! Firstly, it's so cute inside. Light and open and classy without pretention. The service is prompt and friendly and very helpful. The menu is large and varied, so there really is something for everyone--from the Thai novice to the afficionado. My party ordered the following: the fried rolls as an appetizer, the fresh (garlicky) sautéed green beans as a side, and the Rad Nah with pork and Garlic Combo Tray with Beef for our mains. Everything was cooked to perfection and so flavorful! My favorite was definitely the fried rolls. The way they crackle-crunched was divine. I wanted to give five stars but there is one flaw with the experience: it's hot as hell inside and the air is still. If I hadn't brought my own little fan, I would've insisted on getting my meal to go. They desperately need some fans or better yet, some AC. Golden Spoon, Modesto location, family owned Thai spot that the same owners brought over from Manteca and it shows. Papaya salad came out with real heat, properly sour, the grilled beef on the side was charred and tender with that smoky tamarind edge. Not the watered down version you get at most spots in the valley. Tom Kha was rich and balanced, lemongrass and galangal actually present not just hinted at. What a new hidden gem for our town. Friendly greeting with a beautiful atmosphere. Decor and setting were a pleasant surprise. So many items to choose from on our first visit that I had to ask our server for a few suggestions. Started with shrimp cocoon which was cooked perfectly. The Tom Kha with a side of jasmine rice was delicious and my son who is a chef had devoured his bbq chicken, sticky rice with the green papaya salad. OMG! On the salad I was jealous. The tea had a sweetness to it but no sugar added. Topped all of this off with a fresh sliced mango with sticky rice. What a finish! Will return to share our find with friends and family. What a wonderful find! We had the Crying Tiger, shrimp drunken noodles, chicken yellow curry, and a beef noodle dish (I wish I could remember the name!). Every single dish was perfection. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and carefully prepared, with high-quality ingredients. This is a lovely family-owned restaurant, and the service was excellent as well. Our server was attentive and made the whole experience even better. I honestly wish Golden Spoon were closer to where we live. I was really disappointed with my experience. I waited over 40 minutes for a to-go order, only to find out that my order had been forgotten. I had been looking forward to trying this place, so it was frustrating. The restaurant itself is very nice inside, but it seemed like there was only one employee trying to manage the entire restaurant, which likely contributed to the long wait. While I understand staffing challenges happen, the service unfortunately suffered because of it. The prices are also on the higher side, so I expected a better overall experience. After waiting that long, I was surprised that no refund, discount, or even a gesture to make up for the inconvenience was offered. I hope they can improve their staffing and customer service because the restaurant has a lot of potential. read more

I've been here a few times now, and the food has been consistently great. The Pad Thai is absolutely amazing, and the Tom Kha soup is just as delicious. It's rich, flavorful, and one of my favorite things on the menu. The Thai tea is also really good and pairs perfectly with the meal. The food always tastes fresh, and the portions are generous. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the customer service could be a little more welcoming and attentive. It's not bad, but there's definitely room for improvement.
