First time trying their food and won't be coming back! We came here after church for a brunch, but all of us became sick the next day. My brother had to skip work because he couldn't even drive. I doubt all the five star reviews here are accurate. Do yourself a favor and find another "genuine chinese restaurant." read more

Went for lunch with 3 friends, none of us had been before. Everyone who worked there was welcoming and friendly. Our server was very helpful with the menu and how much to order. We ordered green beans, the 2 bbq meat mix, which for us was Peking duck and honey BBQ pork, and Cantonese style noodles. Seriously the most authentic and delicious Chinese food in Modesto. I'd never had Cantonese style noodles and just fell in love with them. They're a thin rice vermicelli style noodle with perfectly crunchy veggies. They didn't look saucy or anything, but had a TON of flavor. Duck had great flavor and crispy skin, pork was tender and just sweet enough. Beans were crisp and so flavorful. Needless to say we left nothing behind. And as I was leaving I was joking with the girls that I was going to order it for dinner. We could've ordered a rice dish or another main. Decor is pretty simple. Lots of white, with some black and red accents. Nothing to write home about, the food takes care of that. And the lunch specials coming out were huge portions! I'll definitely try one of those next time I go back. Tomorrow may not be too soon, honestly. OH! Also got Hong Kong style lemon tea which was perfectly lemony and sweet. No pics because we were too hungry. Next time! read more

I love the food here, its so delicious! The ambiance is also so cool and fun. I ordered the roasted duck and pork belly and it was a 10/10 so delicious. Also I ordered the taro tea and it was really good. They have very great service. read more

2nd time coming in and it's even better than the 1st. Super clean restaurant, friendly & helpful service. The portions are well worth the money and every single dish we've tried thus far is packed with flavor. This is absolutely our new favorite restaurant! The duck being the best thing on the menu, closely followed by the pork belly, honey bbq pork, any of the noodle soups, house fried rice.. we cannot wait to come back and explore the menu even more! This place is an absolute gem! read more

Food is always fresh. I have visited a few times this time on the menu the orange chicken and green bean chicken combo plates were for the win. Food comes out hot and fresh and fast. The strawberry, mango and passion fruit teas are so good makes you want to order one to go. Service is always nice and very helpful everyone is always smiling. The located on the corner of a huge parking lot but the space makes it feel as if it's a diamond in the rough. We are always seated quickly and the tables and facilites are always clean. We will see you again in a few weeks. read more

It was surprising but also not surprising to see an authentic Chinese restaurant (also locally owned) right across from a Vallarta in Modesto! This place was a hole in the wall, and honestly blew me away after we covered different things. I liked how nuanced the environment was upon entry of the restaurant -- it made me and my partner feel at ease and at home. The table and the chairs looked rather new, with the chairs already pushed out for any and all incoming parties. The hospitality displayed utmost professionalism at the best of the servers at this restaurant were very attentive to not just our requests, but also, every person that was dining in. We asked for the three entree plate, and to my surprise, the ingredients were quite less than what I expected. For $13 it did not come as a surprise though -- with the rice and drink it was actually a budget friendly meal for each person. The ambience seemed really brand new, and the brand was on point with everything they had inside of the restaurant. I'll definitely be back to try more forsure, the next time that I'm around the Modesto area. read more

Fat Boy Roasted Delights - Menu is awesome here, very great staff and service! - Chinese Near Me - Modesto, California

OMG.....when I first saw the outside, I assumed I was going to disappointed but I WAS SO WRONG. When I stepped in I thought I was walking into a Chinese restaurant in SF or San Jose (large asian community). The ambiance was to perfection. The photos of the duck and bbq hanging in Yelp photo don't do justice. When you see it in person AND smelling the food inside multiplies the experience 10x. The server communicating with customer in Chinese and makes it perfect. I ordered 3 item combo (soy sauce, chicken, spareribs, and honey sauce, and roasted duck). At first I thought they were frugal with portion but I understand I chose the most expensive bbq on their menu (roast duck +$1.00). The extra cost for the roast duck was worth. I can genuinely say, I'm coming back here for my future lunches and dinner. My family can go some other Chinese restaurant, but I'm coming back here. Quality of service:A+++ Quality of food: EXCEPTIONAL Price: $-$$ (won't burn a hole in your wallet) Note: don't let the outside entrance deceive you. Go in and check this place out for yourself. read more

This was our first time trying Fat Boy Roasted Delights! We look forward to going again. My husband ordered a 3-meat bbq combo and the meat tasted sooo delicious. The duck was my favorite! The only note was the Bok Choy was cold and I think that could've been on purpose but we would've loved it warm! The service and staff were great and we just loved the feel of the restaurant. The location is great and right off of the freeway if you're driving through Modesto! Really cool place to stop and eat. read more

This was my third visit to this restaurant, and unfortunately, I found that the service has declined each time. We ordered a Chinese vegetable dish that was recommended by the restaurant. The vegetables were so tough that they were difficult to chew. We only took a few bites and couldn't eat the rest. The staff acknowledged that the dish wasn't good and offered to cook us another vegetable. However, I believe they should have replaced the dish at no charge or refunded it. I also found several of the dishes to be overly salty. On the positive side, the roast duck and BBQ dishes were very good. I also ordered the two-meat combination that was pictured on the overhead menu . It showed with rice. However, when the meal arrived, it did not include rice. The actual dish did not match the menu photo, which was disappointing and misleading. For me, great service is just as important as good food. While the restaurant has some excellent dishes, the declining service, inconsistent food quality, and the way these issues were handled mean I probably won't be returning. read more

First time here and we came with a bit of an appetite. We were seated and greeted right away. The restaurant has nice character. It took us a little time to decide exactly what we wanted. Then decided on a few appetizers. Appetizers- Cream cheese wontons Fried prawns Cucumber salad Entrees- Garlic chicken Barbecue pork chow mein House fried rice Half roasted duck Salt and pepper pork chops We enjoyed everything, it was scrumptious, but could not finish at all. A few to go boxes were necessary. And we're delighted with the experience. I do recommend fat boy, roasted delight read more

This is a new place we tried a few days ago. I wanted to try it because I have never had Duck before and they had roasted duck. This is a Cantonese style Chinese Food restaurant. Not sure what the difference is from regular Chinese food? Anyhow, the the roasted duck was good, but since I have never had duck before, I had nothing to compare it too. The sauce they served over it was excellent with a ton of flavor though. All of the rest of the food is your standard Chinese fare/dishes etc., except they roasted a couple different protein/meats here. One thing I will say, and found odd, is that they have combination plates, but if you want to substitute an item then it is no longer a combo, it becomes ala carte. It isn't like choosing from Panda Express. Something else of note. The water they use to prep things and cook in the Wok, tastes like unfiltered tap water and it translates to the food. If you are used to filtered water you can tell when water isn't being filtered. The rest of our food was just okay and nothing to write home about. There are better Chinese food options in Modesto. I was hoping this new place hit it out of the park. It wasn't awful on the standard dishes like chow mein, but the unfiltered water seemed to take away from the flavor. read more

I loved everything. I got a matcha and garlic chicken and chicken broccoli and pork chow mein. What I really like about the matcha is that it's more earthy than sweet, I drink a lot of matcha. And it came in a to go cup already which is nice because I couldn't finish it before leaving. Fast and friendly service too with large portions of food. The chow mein chicken plate cost $11 and the broccoli chicken cost $13. And its cans of soda instead of fountain which I like more. read more

My husband I decided to stop here after a long day and got food to go. I forgot to take pictures of his food. Upon entry we erected handed printed menus that had some items on the menu crossed out. Despite not having 3 items that menu had such a large variety. We were very pleased with our food portions even though our food was in to go containers. They really packed it. I loooooved the salt and chili pepper wings. They were crispy and delicious. My bbq combo plate was fantastic. When I was done with my food, you would've thought the container was already put through the dishwasher. No crumbs. I highly recommend to go check it out. We already discussed that we will be returning to try some other times on the menu. (: read more

On January 25, came in to buy bbq pork.got a piece and was reasonable price. I asked not to cut it only bc I like to slice my own. Brought it home, open it to cut it and let me tell you have of It was all fat!!!! Hardly any meat. I was so disappointed the fact that that's a rip off! Never been to a place that just gives you most fat- it's always proportional. Taste was good though. I hope next time that I don't get gypped. read more

Everything was delicious. We ordered the combo plate, pork chow mein with orange chicken and it was DELICIOUS, especially the orange chicken. The fried rice was the best fried rice we've ever had. Not sure who took the photos for their menu but he/she is a magician . Ordered the 3 combo plate of Brisket, Duck and Spareribs for my wife and I to split. When they brought our food, they forgot the Brisket....the main reason we were there. The food was luke-warm and the Duck looked boiled not roasted. The servings of the meat were much smaller than their photos....hence the magician photographer. After telling us they didn't think they had any more Brisket, the owner/mgr said he would talk to the cook and see what they could do (WTF???). They soon brought out a small bowl with what looked liked stew meat that had been boiled; no exaggeration! The meat was tough and there was no way this was Brisket. Objectively, we shared a Roasted Duck eggroll and it was delicious. Overall, we were disappointed and we won't be back. read more
