Total throw back to the 70's. Huge portions, neon red sweet and sour chicken and basically bland except for the salt. It's been awhile since Chinese takeout was on my list of things to get but here we are. These guys are working hard pushing the food out to the masses. I was watching a bit as they were finishing up my order. They moved like machines, they done this before. A fist full of this, a handful of that and a pinch of you know. All perfectly fine. Quick service I love this restaurant is the best restaurant that I've tasted over the different Chinese restaurants in the city of Modesto. They're quick they're fast they give you a lot of food for the price. The restaurant is clean is quiet in there cause most of the people always pick up or get it delivered Music or sound is very low great always great and always out there for you when they say it's ready in 10 minutes is ready in 10 minutes. They have Chinese sticks you ask them for sauce, hot mustard, fruit, sweet-and-sour soy sauce, fortune, cookies, etc. they give it to you Great service. If I can give this restaurant a zero star, I would. Be aware of this establishment.!!! We ordered a to go meal that came with a soup. When I tell you that this soup smelled like urine and tasted just like urine I'm not exaggerating.. health department might wanna show up because this is disgusting smelled straight like ammonia like someone had pissed in the soup!!! I am truly impressed with this Chinese restaurant. I would've given this place five star rating if they had my item. (Salt and pepper pork chop). But I ordered on the phone and it was supposed to be ready in 10 minutes which is pretty impressive and when I came in to pick up my food, the girl knew which order was mine before I said a word. Seems like a typical small Chinese restaurant. The food is good and satisfies your cravings. Portions are generous. Dependable. We order from East China about once a month. The restaurant looks like it has had no updates or renovations in a few decades. Takeout is the best option. Fast service. But they put it in styrofoam containers. Wish it was the old fashioned wax paper buckets from 20th century Chinese restaurants. Recommended for takeout if you're in the neighborhood. read more

Great food and the price for a single meal was good. Hot and fresh. Piled high. I recommend giving this restaurant a try. You wont regret it. First time in this place I walk in no hello or nothing I waited patiently for my turn when it got to me I said hi it's my first time here nothing no response just looked at me I then asked if they had more combo plates then the ones listed he then said there all combo plates I'm like ok cool so I ordered orange and garlic chicken and there hot and sour soup it tasted like and smelled like throw up and when I opened the combo plates the chicken was hot on some pieces and only warm on others and not much flavor from either of them they both taste about the same not to mention the egg rolls are really small I won't be back anytime soon I'll just go around the corner to (China Garden) food is good always hot good flavor and giant egg rolls read more

I ordered to go . Staff was nice . Fried rice was delicious. I ordered garlic chicken and broccoli and the chicken was not fresh at all ! It was chewy and not soft at all . The container was piping hot but chicken was stale tasting as if it was reheated . The chicken was around $15 with steamed rice but I wanted fried and to make it fried was an extra $4. I only ate the rice . It probably would have been fresh if I had ordered to dine in . I ordered to go, I really enjoyed it. My go too for Chinese food, is always sweet and sour. The regular place I go to wasn't open; so I tried this restaurant. Their sweet-and-sour was on point. It was nice and crispy, even though it was covered in sweet-and-sour sauce, didn't have that sogginess that tends to come with this dish. Noodles were good. I would definitely go back. I tried this location for pick up. Inside were clean, and the kitchen area seemed well managed. The line of people was also impressive. Sadly the food seemed lack luster. Ordered parchment wrapped chicken, Mongolian beef, and pork fried rice. Our parchment wrapped chicken was over cooked and burnt insides on all of them. The Mongolian beef was okay, but it tasted just like the burnt parchment wrapped chicken? Lastly was the fried rice, this was edible yet also bland. Don't buy their sweet and sour prawns! There are barely prawns in them! It's all flour and it is raw undercooked flour! No good. Not consistent on their chow mein or fried rice either! What a waste of money! read more

Chopped up in pieces with gravy on the side with ALL the beef, chicken, shrimp mixed in the gravy. I ordered the egg foo young as a healthy carb option but this isn't it! THE BEST CHINESE FOOD IN MODESTO! only reason I didn't put 5 stars is because sometimes you wait to even be greeted for a long time but worth the wait. Ordered food on the phone at :4:48 pm. They told me 15-20 minutes. Showed up at 5:10 pm and was told it would be 15-20 minutes. Sat there waiting for an additional 30 minutes. I went to the counter and asked how long it would be and they told me 5-10 minutes. People came after us, paid after us and left before us. I won't be back. Been coming here for years .. I usually get the garlic chicken combo. Always fresh & tasty. This batch was dry, no crunch, little garlic sauce. I ate 1/3 of it & threw the rest out. I remember it being hot, crispy & fresh. The fried dumplings were ok. Ate 2 of them, tossed the rest. Not sure if I'll go back. read more

I did not realize it was under new ownership! The food is not as good as before, they got my order wrong the first time giving me sweet and sour chicken #5 when I ordered #7 shrimp chow mein but I tried them again and the vegetable chow mein was a miss noodles were overcooked and my to-go plate was full of liquid. I just tried to order lunch combos and they were trying to charge extra for each combo with fried rice/chow mein without meat, saying they have to cook it special. It's not like we are upgrading to meat, shrimp or anything special. Thought this place was a restaurant and everything was cooked. Ok, for a Saturday night at 6 pm, running out of a ramen and they've been in business for several years now?!? never had that happen before in any ramen shop I've been to. So me and my wife both got the Ichiraku ramen which was a miso broth with pork belly. Price $23. I added 2 more pork belly at $5 more. Oh, the waitress mentioned no bamboo shoots and no fish cake........ ok, never had that happen before in a ramen shop. So while eating edamame, I kept track of how long it took we got our ramen.... It took 30 minutes before we got our ramen... definitely atypical to wait that long wait but I guess it's because they offer a lot of items besides ramen. Presentation was fine, the pork belly was seared on one side with a blow torch since I can taste that searing. . It just had green onions, 2 seaweeds and 2 soft boiled eggs which I was impressed the yolk wasn't overcooked. The noodles I chose was thin and was good with a soft texture. The miso broth was average Over all, it was an okay ramen. Me and my wife both didn't finish our bowls... definitely unusual since we love ramen but somehow, it didn't fulfill our satiety to finish and be content. I can tell you that of all the ramen places I've been to. This is average and doesn't compare to Ramen 101 in Modesto that I've ordered many times before my first time here. Sadly, I can only give it 3 stars because the ramen was average and not in the same league as other ramens I've had in other places and cities. And if me and my wife couldn't finish our ramen, that's a tell tale sign it was just okay. Plus, the place is called Konfucius Eats, doesn't have a Japanese name for a restaurant since "Confucius " is a Chinese Philosopher lol. In fact, I didn't see any Japanese or Asian cooks... just saying that's atypical to the other ramen establishments I've been to. For Modesto, it's aight. I just can't see myself going back here for a long time. Lastly, they are open Tuesday to Saturday only .

I also had the hand roll oh and an Oyster shooter which was so Yummy and one of the best miso soups! You definitely have to give this place a try!

We love coming here. Their family meals are large and leave lots to take home. I have a family of 6 and we usually have enough left over for two more meals. My kids live the foil chicken and orange chicken. My wife loves their Moo Shoo Pork. Not your fanciest place but the food is great and the service is always with a smile and very attentive. read more

Went in for dinner tonight, food was ok not enough flavor though. The lady waiter I think her name is Darlene is so annoying keeps talking about nonsense . The chow mein is exactly like a can of Campbell's chicken noodle soup. The fried rice has no flavor or color. Luckily the garlic chicken was good, but pretty disappointed with rice and chow mein. read more

We arrived 30 minutes before closing, and they were definitely not happy to see us, but they were willing to serve us. We got the Hunan Villa's dinner which came with a Pupu plate and your choice of soup and your choice of entrée. We ordered the dinner for two as the Babes only grazes. They gave us settings for three, including for the soup without having to be asked. Both the Hubbs and the babes had fun with the Pupu platter. I was more tired than hungry, but ended up enjoying the food. It had that old school greasy spoon American Chinese flavor that I've been missing. The food isn't fancy, but it's plentiful and tasty and reminded me of the Chinese restaurants when I was a kid. The Hubbs chose Mongolian beef and we got tons of beef and I chose the honey walnut prawns and they gave us at least 20 prawns. The portion sizes were huge. I was expecting that they had provided food for three but when we got our check, they charged us the dinner for two. We took home the leftovers and there was enough food for two additional meals. Forgot to take additional pictures and the total came out to about $42. I had $60 on me in cash and left that to cover the tab and tip, since they stayed open late for us. Definition of cheap eats and we will definitely be back the next time we go to the reservoir.
