Handroll and kimchi
Nichole E.

First time eating here. The staff welcomed us with a smile and were attentative throughout our visit. Prices were good & the food was delicious. Lots of food and flavor. Huge variety of cuisine from Chinese, Japanese, & Japanese. Love the add-on options. We had a bit of everything fromkitchen, too a vegan handroll, eggplant tofu, shrimp & veggies, and orange chicken.

Lemon chicken / half order

I was on the hunt for the best orange chicken in the immediate area. So far, the orange and lemon chicken here is my favorite around here. The Mongolian beef was a pleasant surprise. It was nice sizes of meat and juicy and tender. Best Mongolian beef I had to date. The restaurant is not fancy decore by any means, but the service was very polite and friendly and definitely going back for more of the same and try other things.

Fried rice with teriyaki chicken!

Friendly service and the food was hot and fresh in 10 minutes! Definitely recommend coming to this restaurant for some high quality Asian food! I loved the big designs they had on the walls as well. It felt very unique inside the restaurant.

17. *Mongolian Beef Combo Plate

Visted this place for lunch today while looking for something to eat here in Riverbank. Not a lot of choices just yet in the area mostly chain restaurants. So I decided to try this Chinese food place. My takeaway was this just a very average Chinese restaurant. The Mongolian beef plate was ok. The beef had more of a garlic and onion taste and less of what I'm used to which is more of sweet tangy spicy taste. The chow mein lacked flavor and was a bit cold and that's because we ordered and the food came out super fast. The rice lacked flavor as well. Probably the best part of the meal was the hot and sour soup. It was just above average. Don't think I would eat here again. Nothing tasted close to what I'm used to. The service was good. The ambiance was local small town Chinese diner.

Egg flower soup

The food here has gone downhill fast. Like building on fire fast. I dropped in with a buddy on a Monday evening due to our go to being closed. We each had the combination dinner plate. It comes with choice of entree, chow mein, fried rice, and an egg roll. I had garlic chicken. He had teriyaki chicken. Both had great presentation but tasted so terribly bland that I had to ask the waitress if they had a new cook. Sadly it wasn't that simple. My egg flower soup sucked, my garlic chicken sucked, the chow mein was so overcooked it was almost soggy, and the supposedly pork fried rice looked like white rice with corn stirred into it then topped with chopped pork. They also topped the chow mein the same way. The potstickers were so awful that we ate 2 of 6 and left the rest. I did enjoy the egg roll tho! Although the service was nice, and the ambiance was vibing oriental, the food was so terrible that we chose not to even take our leftovers. I will not be back.

Cheese Rangoon- sad little almost empty shell. They were all like this. I'll stick with the chow fun from now on.

I'm basing this review solely on 1 visit for takeout. I ordered a special house chow fun and cream cheese Rangoon for takeout on this rainy day. The chow fun was absolutely amazing!!!! Great fat yummmy noodles, tons of meat- super fresh and flavorful. The Rangoon was highly disappointing. They really skimp on the cream cheese. Won't get that again. But the chow fun will get me back there for sure!! Beautiful space. Quiet. Friendly employees who assured me my food was almost ready a couple times. And it was fast but you could still tell it was fresh and made to order. The Rangoon is reason why I only gave 4 stars. I'll go back and try some new stuff next time.

Served me chicken that looks not cooked then still charged me not good business stop thinking about just getting the money I would of been a good customer but the way you treated me that was it won't be back

The space was very elegant yet relaxing to enjoy with friends and family. I would definitely go again! The Melon Blush Margarita was amazing as well as a cocktail. I didnt get photos of the desserts but I will say these were interesting. I felt like they were trying to put a lot of things together in one dessert and it wasn't bad but I think keeping it simpler would be better. We got the dark chocolate mousse and the panna cotta? I think I can't remember what it was called and I only liked one ingredient from each. But I would recommend this spot either way!

That makes sense to why the drinks were quite stiff. I understand why many of the older guests chose to sit outside on the patio, where it was much quieter. Danielle was wonderful. Even though she was handling a large party, she remained attentive and checked on us regularly. Food-wise, it fell short for my Asian taste buds, which tend to prefer bolder and more layered flavors. For starters, we had the tartare, which was enjoyable and very flavorful. For the main entrées, we had the beef carpaccio, but it unfortunately missed the mark. The vegetables on top were visually appealing, but flavor-wise it lacked depth. It needed extra mint or perhaps to be wrapped in a sesame leaf to give it more bite and contrast. Next, we tried the lion meatball with veggie fried rice. The meatball was dry and had a grainy texture. It needed more fat in the blend for better richness. Pairing it with a baguette or even a savory donut stick would have added a nice contrast in texture and flavor. I'm usually not a fried rice person, but I kept eating it because it was the only dish I genuinely enjoyed and found well-seasoned. It wasn't the traditional wok-hei style fried rice; instead, it tasted fresher and lighter. I understand and appreciate the direction of the flavors and dishes, as they seem intentionally designed to be more subtle, calming, and approachable for American palates. However, from my perspective and personal preference as someone who enjoys stronger Asian flavors, it lacked the "wow" factor I was hoping for.

Their seasoned egg was on point! Plus they give you whole egg sliced in half. No skimping! The broth was so flavorful and balanced. Not too salty either. Their single all gender restroom was well-stocked and clean. Other things I notice was that staff is pretty attentive. If the call button was pushed, they addressed the need immediately. After packing up our leftovers, we paid up front with Apple Pay. Overall, a great selection of my favorite eats. Typically I'd have to hit multiple spots to get this combination of items. Saturday night: 5 stars (read both reviews as the next day was a 2.5 star)…read more We had reservations and were seated quickly last Saturday night. I was immediately impressed by the stylish bar and the restaurant's beautiful interior design. As others have mentioned, it is quite dark in the evening, but the adjustable lamps on each table are a thoughtful touch and add to the atmosphere. I wanted to order everything on the menu, but since there were five of us, we were able to order family-style and share a variety of dishes. The ceviche was full of flavor and paired perfectly with the rice chips. We all loved the gyoza and the fried rice as well. I also enjoyed a perfectly made espresso martini. From start to finish, the service was attentive and friendly. The prices felt very fair considering how creative and fresh the food was. I returned the next day for Mother's Day with my daughter, and I'll be reviewing that experience separately, as it was completely different from this one. After having such an excellent dining experience here the night before, I chose this restaurant again for a Mother's Day lunch with my daughter. We did not have reservations, but were seated within about 10 minutes, which we appreciated. Before being seated, we chatted briefly with a server behind the bar who was warm and welcoming. My daughter also loved the decor, the vibe, and the music--it created a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Unfortunately, the experience declined after that. It took an unusually long time for anyone to take our order, and the wait for our food was simply unacceptable. During that time, our server repeatedly brought dishes to our table that belonged elsewhere. Each time we asked about our order, we were told it was coming soon, but it did not arrive. I eventually flagged down another server, who sincerely apologized and said she would look into it right away. We still waited quite a while longer, so I spoke with yet another staff member, who also said she would involve the manager and get things handled. Our food finally arrived about 35-40 minutes after ordering. The person who delivered it--who was not our original server--apologized and brought us a small serving of sorbet in a martini glass, presumably as a gesture for the delay. Neither of us wanted dessert, so it went untouched. Having worked in the restaurant industry for many years, including training staff in service standards, I know that delays can happen. What matters most is how they are handled. In this case, a manager should have come to the table personally to apologize and, at minimum, adjusted or comped the delayed dish. That kind of service recovery can turn a poor experience around. I felt especially disappointed because I had chosen this restaurant for a special Mother's Day meal and had spoken so highly of it after the previous evening's wonderful visit. Instead, we left let down. I hope management takes reviews like this seriously, because service recovery is essential in hospitality.

Sunday's visit was a bit stuffy inside. It was warmer than it needed to be, but it was comfortable in a short sleeve top and shorts. Sunday's high was 76. Parking is an issue, it's all street parking and on a Sunday in April it's quite busy. We lucked out and found a space only a couple of blocks away, close to the boxing gym behind Rick's Dessert Diner. Someone was just pulling out when we were cruising around for a parking space. It's all luck of the draw and The parking didn't have a time limit on it as it was a Sunday and there wansn't a meter. if you're willing to walk a few blocks you've got a higher chance of finding a space. There are a couple of parking lots, but they are paid parking and a few many blocks away. When looking at their menu you will notice that everyone is sold in multiples. You can't buy a single Bao, they only come in sets of 8. Potsticker are understandable and come in sets of 12, which splitting between two people is manageable. Right above us and behind glass there was someone making potstickers from scratch. They have a little machine that you place the filling in the skins and the machine stuffs the potstickers and folds them. They can make a lot in a short amount of time. We really liked the potstickers. I love how they pan fried them. They were all a little toasty, just what we had hoped for. They aren't that toasty on their own, but hey gave us two sauces. A soy sauce based sweet sauce, that was my favorite and a oil and red pepper sauce, that was a little spicy, but not too much. I could dunk a whole potsticker in it and my mouth wasn't burning. The dumplings would have been a healthier option as they aren't pan fried with all that oil, but not what I was craving. These were a good snack to tie us over before dinner. We also came back later after hanging out in midtown on our way home we bought 6 BBQ Pork Bao to go. They don't come with the paper on the bottom, which is nice as it's always hard to remove. They are easy to reheat in the microwave. My plans is to make them a good snack. I tried one right after we bought them and they were perfect. Good amount to meat inside and not too doughy. I'd order them again. I would go back, with the knowledge that it's a warm environment. Come with an appetite. They also make noodle dishes and other dishes such as honey walnut shrimp.
