I've been here twice while working in the area, and both visits were great. The first time I dined in with coworkers and we ordered the coconut soup, pad Thai, satay, and crab fried rice--everything was absolutely delicious. On my second visit, I got the larb and wonton soup. The larb was just as good, full of flavor and really satisfying. The wonton soup wasn't quite what I expected, but it was still tasty. Another wonderful experience at Tasty Thai the staff is so attentive and friendly each and every time we have dined here . Highly recommend their spring rolls and curry I've tried all of them . Today I ordered curry and added eggplant mine came with chicken carrots , peas , and zucchini plus I added the eggplant it was so delicious. Our food is always hot and so fresh tasting vegetables are never over cooked . My husband ordered the General Tso chicken I tried a couple pieces it was scrumptious . He also ordered their chow mien . Everything was so good . If you haven't had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant I would definitely check it out !!!! Been ages since I've been here and felt like an updated review was in order. We came on a Saturday at 5 pm (placed opened at 430 pm) and there was a lot of patrons already seated. So here is what we ordered and a review Appetizer: chicken satay $13.99 for 5 skewers. I'll be honest, a bit overpriced for an appetizer. It wasn't that bad but it's just marinated chicken breast that needs the peanut sauce and the sweet cucumber condiment to add a little flavor. It came first but wasn't tremendously hot temperature wise. 4 out of 5 stars. Beef pad thai $17.99 ($2 for upgrade to beef, on the menu, its chicken pad thai at $15.99). I thought it was nice to see the beef slices on top rather than mixed in like other Thai restaurants. They add peanuts and bean sprouts and green onions on the side besides a slice of lemon. It was actually pretty good and my favorite of the items we ordered. Still a bit on the sweet side but I would get this again for sure. 5 out of 5 stars Pad Blue Mussels - my wife's favorite. I only tried one but wasn't into the flavor that much. Since my wife ate most of it, I'll assume it was good. No grade since dish wasn't meant for me. Fried Banana with ice cream $9.99. This actually took a good 10 mins to wait on after we had finished the main course. Awful experience. The only male server in that place was rude and argumentative. I ordered Spicy Vegetarian Fried Rice, and I took a bite and it smelt weird and find out it came with fish/oyster sauce--clearly not vegetarian. When I questioned it, he insisted I should've said "vegan" and claimed fish/oyster sauce is vegetarian, which is ridiculous. Despite multiple requests to talk to owner he showed zero interest to come talk to us in resolving the issue as the server after their mess up bad mouthed and said if we let you in next time ask for Vegan Fried rice. Many reviews mention this same behavior of rudeness of the server. Will never return. Lost appetite. I've been here several times, and while some days are better than others, I keep coming back. I like my food spicy hot and usually order an extra serving of the dried chiles they toast in-house. I also love that the house Pad Thai comes with tofu, chicken, and shrimp -- it's such a great combo. The only small area for improvement (not worth removing a star) is the water service. It would be nice if refills were offered more consistently. I usually bring my own water bottle or order two glasses when I sit down since they don't always come back to refill. read more

A good place to get your Thai fix! I have been coming here for over 15 years and have seen this place evolve. Despite the time moving forward, they are always consistent and super accommodating. Every staff I come across is very friendly and attentive. They are very knowledgeable on the menu and provide great recommendations. I had a large party for a lunch outing. The server was very patient with us and recommended some of her favorites. The food we received was very delicious and fresh. From the fried chicken wings, spicy garlic calamari, pad Thai, and tom yum koong it all tasted unique with amazing flavor. This place has a bar to order alcoholic drinks plus a bunch of seating. They also have a private section for large groups as long as you book a reservation ahead of time. A downside is their prices are a little higher compared to other Thai restaurants and the portions have gotten a little smaller. read more

My aunt and I have been coming here for 7 years and have never been disappointed before. The food is amazing and generally the service is quick with consistent check ups from the servers on additional needs. But today we arrived here at 11:03am and there was no one on the floor, I understand that there are tasks to do when businesses open but there should always be someone keeping an eye on the floor. After our orders were taken it took even longer for the server to bring us our drinks. Another party that was larger than ours showed up AFTER us and were given their drinks and food quickly and we were still waiting for ours. We didn't understand why it took so long for us to receive our food and the servers did not come out from the back to check to see if we needed refills or anything else until we were almost done with our meals and that was because I had to waiver the server over for a water. This is my go-to Thai restaurant. The place itself is located in a well-kept small shopping strip - it is clean and spacious inside. It is a casual place to dine with friends and family - and they can accommodate groups. They always have lots of people ordering to go as well. This family-run business always gives excellent service. They are very polite and work so hard to ensure you have exactly what you need. The food is fresh, delicious and comes out quickly. It is the best Thai place in the area. They also offer several gf dishes! I never get any pictures because we always just dive right in. My staples are the spring rolls - it comes with 6 and the best peanut sauce I've ever tasted (I think they make it from scratch). I love their Tom Yum Kai soup - you need to order it Thai style...sooo good! And the pad sweet and sour hits the spot! I've ordered multiple other dishes, but those are my go to. I almost always have leftovers as the portions are a good-size, so I get to enjoy the food another day. Come try it! Nice place and good food. We are regulars and have had just about everything on the menu. It really is Tasty Thai. As time has gone by we have noticed a consistent reduction in food per order and less meat on every order. We aren't cheap people but noticed a large increase in price. We ordered 3 items that was spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken and a beef dish with steamed rice and no drinks. Including tax was over $60 not including tip. Do you think that's realistic? First and last time eating their food. The spicy pad thai was cold, sticky and very unappetizing. Pot stickers were cold and probably would have been ok hot. Rama noodles and chicken satay had a weird after taste. I don't think it was fresh and was reheated. We actually threw it in the trash because we didn't want get sick. Gordon Ramsey would have a field day in the kitchen and refrigerator I'm sure. I called the restaurant and discussed the food. The individual was very confrontational my concerns weren't important to him at all. We will never order from them again and we will recommend others to stay away. We spent $70.00 here and I definitely felt ripped off. I cook a lot at home with fresh ingredients and never frozen. I'll stick to my homemade thai food. Not the best Thai food I've had. A lot of bland food, some served with overly sweet sauces perhaps to compensate. I agree with another review that this caters to a more "americanized" taste. We ordered: Basil Chicken Wings - sweet and sticky and had an odd taste that we couldn't quite figure out. Spicy Garlic Calamri - real tough, had garlic sprinkling on it and only spicy if you ate the peppers that were chopped and served sort of sprinkled on the dish. We mixed the peppers into the sweet sauce and that made it better Fresh Spring Rolls - bland with a very rich peanut sauce Chicken Pad See Ew - real hard to mess this one up but this was bland as well. Didn't appreciate the tough chicken used in the dish Garlic Salmon fried rice - again pretty bland, Salmon pieces were fried and served on top of the rice, more like an aside than part of the dish. Tasted like a basic fried rice, nothing Thai about it, with fried Salmon cubes on top. I totally understand catering to your audience so I'm not by any means bashing the place but not my preference for Thai food. Neighborhood Thai that I thought might be a sushi spot? First off the location is immaculate inside, and has a full bar, so you can pair just about anything with your meal. The staff is incredibly attentive, and checked on me regularly. Top marks on the staff and location. The reason I am thrown was the house salad that came with the meal, is the same I have at almost every sushi spot. I did not order the satay, so peanut sauce might be available in that fashion? The red curry had a very good amount of meat in it, and a lot of curry gravy, I would of loved it to be a little thicker in consistency, but it tasted fine. Mind you the pad Thai comes with shrimp & chicken and I had 3 shrimps on my plate. I think you can afford giving up some basil leaves. We also asked for a side of sweet and sour and we were charged $2. Look, as a business don't charge for all the little knick knacks! Best Thai restaurant in Central Valley I would say. Great service, food and atmosphere.

Recently we had the occasion to eat at this establishment and found it sadly lacking in the area of service. Our group, six in number had made reservations and we seated in the room on the right side of the restaurant. Once we were seated it took the waiter a while to take the orders, and then he disappeared. Finally, I got my meal first, several minutes later, the second to order got his. We both sat and waited for the others, and waited and waited. Finally about 20 min from first plate delivered to last (which was our guest speaker for a local public event). I had to go and fetch a server for a take out container (no bag thank you). I noticed that the wait staff had that "I don' see you" way of not noticing someone standing at the unattended bar needing some assistance. (If I don't see you, I don't have to help you.) With time getting closer to be at the venue, we ate and left. All were not impressed with the service at all. Of course there were a few comments about the "service charge" and the request for tips on top of that on the bill. Not impressed at all, not going back soon, there are too many other good places to try in Modesto. read more

Modesto doesn't have the BEST options, but there's always some spots that make you think twice on that statement.
