This was our first visit (suggested from family)...Food was good, it's very small and loud in there, the service was good - although our waitress messed up the check twice (second time we didn't even bother correcting her). Prices are higher than what is listed online. I don't think we would make a point to go back, unless it was someone else's request. It was good just wouldn't be a regular place we would crave to visit.

Good place to eat. Clean restaurant with good service. I got the San Francisco Sourdough burger. I envisioned the old Frisco Burger that Marie Callender's used to offer. This version was not as cheesy. Good but not great sandwich. Their fries are beer batter which I'm not a huge fan of. My wife had the Chimichurri Melt. Seasoned tri tip with melted cheese. She loved her sandwich. I will definitely go back to try other items on the menu.

Lots of delicious food to choose from

The Chicken Parmesan and Alfredo was amazing, service above and beyond and I enjoyed the ambiance which was welcoming and friendly. If you get a chance stop by and try some of the delicious food. Thanks Ron

Stopped by Mike's Grillhouse for lunch with a friend today and it was a great experience. Morgan and the additional wait staff (I forgot their names) were very friendly and provided excellent customer service. The restaurant was clean and spacious, and located in a central area. I ordered a Grilled Chicken with mango salsa dish and it was tasty. The chicken was slightly dry, but the mango salsa was a nice addition and the steamed veggies were good too. My friend had the chicken tenders with fries, and those were yummy as well. We spent a while eating and catching up, and were also given a free dessert, which was very kind and unexpected. The berry cobbler with ice cream was delicious and a great way to end a fun lunch. Definitely recommend dining at Mike's Grillhouse if you're visiting Modesto.

Excellent lunch here! Today was a Caesar shrimp salad. Probably the best I've ever had. Awesome service at the bar. Very comfortable fairly quiet. Big screen tv with sports. Great staff ! Nice selection of beers and wine. This spot rocks! See you here

Mike's is a great place to have lunch or dinner. We were there for dinner. They also have take out and likely delivery. The place is spotless. It is also comfortable and not too loud. The bathrooms are nice and the entire place is well kept up. The service was fast and friendly. You are not rushed, but they will check on you, which is great. We ordered several things and loved them all. We had a few of their starters. We loved the crab cakes. It has roasted red pepper aioli and a side of mango salsa. So tasty. We also tried their sautéed scallops which comes with some lovely French bread. We moved on to a Southern steak salad, which was wonderful and could be a whole meal. It has chopped romaine, grilled sirloin steak, shredded cheddar, tomatoes, crispy onion strings, and cabbage blend, with a spicy ranch dressing. It was not too spicy and they cooked the steak the way I wanted it. Their Mandurian chicken salad was my favorite. It has romaine, mandarin oranges, grilled chicken, wonton strips and cabbage in a tasty mandarin dressing. For our mains we had a wonderful chicken penne with a real good Cajun seasoning with parmesan sauce. Needs a little more chicken, but it was very good. Their fish and chips were perfect. The fish batter was so perfect, cooked just right and we loved the fries. We finished sharing a chocolate brownie with a wonderful served ala mode with whip cream, chocolate and raspberry sauce. The raspberry sauce was ever so good. We loved it all and will be back.

This was a by chance lunch stop based upon time and other reviews that happened to popup at the top of my Yelp... Total score, we definitely made the right choice. This was a cozy little bar-type atmosphere with a bar up front and tvs to turn to if you happened to be interested; their presence was not overwhelming though, so hubby was able to enjoy a bit of the game without my feeling like that part of the environment trumped the rest of it and there was no room for conversation... Perfect compromise. The wraps we got were FANTASTIC... We both shared bites of the others and I can definitively say that they were a great choice. Full of flavor and very enjoyable, but not overdone. Both the regular and garlic fries were sooo good . The staff were super helpful and friendly, not overbearing at all. We will definitely return next time we are in the neighborhood

    Medium rare?

I've been in the mood for a good burger for a while and found myself near Mike's around lunchtime. What luck! I'm certain Mike's knows how to make a great burgar, right? Right? Hmm, not so much. I ordered a cheese burger, medium rare, with cheddar, mayo and ketchup. At first glance it looked good, and then I actual tasted it. No mayo, drowning in ketchup, not a single grain of salt or pepper to season the patty and way, way, way overcooked. On top of it all it cost $20.95 for a takeout order with no drink. Really disappointing. In the pros side, the fries were really good, seasoned, hot and nice and crispy. The ranch was good, too. I've been to Mike's three times and have been disappointed the last two.

The Great Gal and I enjoyed a nice lunch at Mike's Grillhouse in Modesto. Service by Kyle was absolutely superb. We split a yum Patty Melt with great fries. Also, had a cup of clam chowder, which we both felt was too thick, allowing the taste of the flour thickener to dominate the flavor of the clams. Kyle very graciously accepted these comments. The restaurant was absolutely packed attesting to its popularity. We will definitely drop in again when trekking to Modesto. FYI - Alcohol here is beer and wine only.

My hubby and I, the chili and cheese toast and the sourdough burger and our drinks.

Is it a fitting location for a work meeting/lunch?

Actually I think it would be a great place for a lunch meeting I think when we were last there they did have a table set up with some people discussing some business at least that's what it looked like with all the papers they had in the table

Do they have lunch specials daily? If so what kind of lunch special do they have?

    Yes

I checked out the menu online beforehand so I'd know exactly what I wanted. Their website is colorful, vibrant, and super easy to read. When I arrived, I was greeted right away with a smile by the female behind the counter. I built my own chicken bowl with the Swole protein portion, brown rice, five different fresh veggies, and added avocado (worth the extra $2.00). I also ordered the Chocolate PB Crush protein shake. They were busy with in-store customers, DoorDash, and online orders, but my food was ready in about 10 minutes. When I got my bowl, I couldn't believe how big it was. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the shake was absolutely to die for. Even my two-year-old loved it - and he's a very picky eater. As an amateur bodybuilder who usually preps all of her own meals, it was such a relief to walk into a place and get a clean, macro-friendly meal without having to cook or bring my own food for the night. This place completely saved me. The environment was great, the bathrooms were clean, and the overall experience was excellent. This will always be a stop for me when I'm in town. Plus, I just found out there's a Turlock location, which is even closer to me in Los Banos - so that's a huge win. Highly recommend!

It was a good portion of char grilled chicken breast along with white toast and their peanut sauce and cucumber relish. 5 stars Pad Thai with beef- presentation was good. The taste was fine but something about it, didn't make me overwhelmingly eat a lot of it. My wife liked it so I'll give it 4 stars. Pineapple fried rice with chicken- good portion size (we had leftovers). Has a sweetness to it but was expected. 4 stars BBQ Pork - another good portion size that was on a bed of lettuce and served with sticky rice in a foil along with some hot chili sauce. But as someone who has worked as a server and in operations for big restaurant groups, the entire place needs some retraining. Food: Overall we had 1 good dish - their pad-eggplant. Noodle dishes were clumpy. Rice = HORRIBLE. Dry and not fresh. Their salads were not great, and overall the quality does not equate to the price. Service: This place cannot handle a large table. Anything over 3 people is probably a stretch for them. We had a reservation for Mother's Day, and when we came in there were only 2 tables who were at the end of their meal already. They paid and left. Tables were coming in, but we were able to place our order prior to it getting busy. The restaurant is pretty full now, all the tables that come after us are eating or have eaten, and have paid and left. We had a few appetizers and nothing. I ask the servers why this is, and my answer is that they are processing other orders, processing to-go orders, and then the chef wants to make our dishes all at the same time. Our food never comes at the same time. There's anywhere from 10 mins in between each plate, meaning majority of the time we were eating 1-2 bites then just waiting. Stir fry dishes given without serving spoons or rice, tom yum soup given without bowls. Near the end of the meal, we are still sitting there waiting for the remaining dishes and nothing. We asked for the dishes - looks like they forgot. We just ask them to cancel it and then get us the check. One time I asked for the soup bowls, she said yes and left. Then went to help with delivery pickup and to seat people. Completely forgot until I asked her again. Another time I asked for some additional plates, the other server said she would get it and then left and completely forgot, I had to ask again. We asked for egg on the side since my niece is allergic and never got the egg. I had to ask for that and my other niece ended up eating the plain egg with rice because she was hungry. There was an issue between the front of house and back of house and until they can get that figured out, they should turn off their ordering system. If they are a sit down restaurant, they need to ensure they can prioritize the folks they are charging an automatic 20% service fee from. It sucked because we went to celebrate my mom and we all ended up leaving hungry and annoyed.

They offer a large variety of proteins and toppings in their poke bowls as well as hot appetizers like gyoza, rangoons, egg rolls, and tempura. I typically order a Large Bowl with five toppings to split with my mom. We get the creamy shrimp, spicy scallops, octopus, and double salmon. The bowls are absolutely huge. I'd say the bowls are about three inches deep, and it's not just rice filling them! They are very generous with their toppings and don't shy away from loading them up with the seaweed salad and imitation crab too. They offer a bunch of sauces and mayo dressings that add a bunch of flavor. I also really enjoy their Kani Salad! It is a large portion that packs a lot of flavor. I always order ahead and the mean is finished before I arrive! I would say though that they are not the most consistent. Sometimes the octopus pieces are super hard and it grosses me out. One time they put ahi tuna in my bowl instead of the salmon. A few times they didn't include the sauce topping on my bowls. The interior of the restaurant is not the cleanest. There were some areas, especially around the drink fountain that look like the haven't been deep cleaned for a while. I appreciated the theme of the movie posters on the wall. That was clever. The food on the other hand was just ok. The fries lacked flavor on their own and could use salt or something.
