I'm fortunate enough to have found another fantastic sandwich shop! This place is next level. It's not a fancy spot but it is delicious, clean, affordable and the workers are very nice. I love it when restaurants hire the appropriate amount of employees instead of just one person running around doing everything. The ambiance is fine. It's been three months since my last downbeat review, and I decided to check out the place again today. I got a turkey sandwich on white bread with mayo and tomato, but I'm pretty sure there wasn't as much turkey as I've had before. The restaurant was completely empty except for me. I asked the girl where everyone was, and she just shrugged and said she didn't know. I'm not sure why the new owners felt the need to change things. Heard this place had great sandwiches. I ordered club sandwiches it was okay. As for price sandwich not terrible on cost, however the EXTRAs add ons $2.00 that's a ridiculous price on my opinion. Service great people nice and friendly. Now the place definitely needs a deep cleaning, ceiling fans extremely dusty you can see dust balls on the fans, wall signs super dusty as well. I had a very concerning experience here. I ordered a roast beef sandwich, and the meat inside was visibly spoiled -- BRIGHT GREEN ROAST BEEF that was slimy and clearly not safe to eat. Unfortunately, I had already eaten part of it before noticing the discoloration. This raises serious questions about food handling, storage temperatures, and how long the deli meat is being kept before serving it to customers. Food in this condition should never be prepared or handed to anyone. I contacted the county health department so they can look into this and prevent anyone else from getting sick. I hope management takes this seriously, because food safety cannot be overlooked. I will absolutely never be returning. read more

This place is straight flame. It's has a basic deli feel but the hot pastrami, called the Modesto Special, is nothing basic! It's total perfection! I drive from two cities over, nearly 20 miles, just to eat it! Today I had the hot Pastrami Modesto Special, a bowl of potato soup, jalapeño chips, and a large Dr Pepper. The total was $30.00 including a $4.25 tip. The potato soup came out first. It was lukewarm, and tasted fairly plain. I don't think I would order that again. My sandwich was taking quite a while to come out so I went up to the register to check on it. Apparently she got busy and forgot. Not my favorite response but at least she was honest and owned it. We're all human. I get that. No worries, life happens. My sandwich was ready a few minutes later. It was pretty good, but just not the same level of epic I have came to expect from this place. Living in Modesto for so long and had never been here. I got the turkey club and wife had the pastrami sandwich. Both sandwiches were huge, they do not hold back in the meat, bread is of great quality and we will definitely come back. We usually drive all the way to Oakdale for a good pastrami sandwich, we will continue to do that as that is better meat but this place is pretty good. Cool layout and service was pretty good. This part of town is kind of hard to get to as far as street layout so that is a bit annoying but we will be back. read more

I have only ordered the chicken salad sandwich and I've had it a few times and enjoyed it. Apparently their business is really booming; they were packed when I arrived to pick up my sandwich that BTW I had to wait 40 minutes for after I called the order in. I'm happy for them, but unfortunately the quality of the chicken salad was very disappointing. The perfect little squares of chicken screamed "processed", like deli meat slices diced. It was like a mayonnaise sandwich seasoned with chicken loaf. I hope it was just an off day, that they couldn't keep up with the demand and made a substitution. If that is the case, it reinforces my contention that a menu item should be "86'd" when it runs out, rather than serving a poor substitute. I am always a bit comforted when a restaurant runs out of a menu item, it signals the food is fresh. I hope they didn't permanently change the recipe. The macaroni salad contains sliced canned ripe olives, (not a fan) but the flavor and texture were appetizing, and the potato salad was delicious. Maybe I should broaden my horizons and try a different sandwich LOL. read more
