I have been to Mr. Pickles on Oakdale Rd. several times now as it is my best friend's favorite spot. The food has always been well crafted, the people behind the counter friendly and engaging and they have ALWAYS had everything I asked for. For a sandwich shop, the ambiance is enjoyable, with seating outside and in, and a mood that makes us want to return. I previously left a negative review. A couple days ago I met a young employee named Levi who completely changed my view. When I brought up the expired business license he showed me the 2026 date and clarified that it's still current. He also informed me there haven't been any health code violations and when I described the Ness I met, an elderly African American women, he explained that that was just a random lady and not in fact his manager and that if I met her I would love her. My son ordered a sandwich and it had hair in it. We went back into the restaurant asked for a refund and they said that they could not refund my money because they had to talk to the owners first. They said if I paid cash and they could give me a refund because I use my credit card they were unable to give me my money back What an absolute joke !! Great location to Mary Groggin Soccer Complex. Less than 5 minutes so good for in between games. Quick and great food as always. The guy running the resister struggled though. Only problem is that there isn't a lot of seating so not great for large groups. 4 five person tables outside. read more

Went to Mr. Pickle's on Oakdale Rd. today for their 7.99 special Small sandwich chips and drink. Sounded like a good deal. But, they must be running this special to get rid of stale and very hard bread. The inside ingredients were good we just had to microwave it when we got home to be able to eat it which doesn't really last soft before it gets hard again. Worst rudest manager at the Mr Pickles store in Modesto. Would not give her name during my visit today around 325pm, 05/02/25. Worst customer service and this woman should NOT be in her role!!!!!! Is there a corporate phone number to Mr Pickles as she surely wasn't giving it out at the same time??? Try to avoid this business if you can. I don't usually say much about sandwich shops and such but I read that Mr. Pickle's is family owned so I'll chime in. My 92 yr. old mother in-law wants a sandwich, Yelp said the closest one to me is Mr. Pickle's...let's go. One star for each of the employees working. Eye contact and smile go along way with me. As someone who works in the food/drink industry I know how annoying it is when a group of people walk in right before we close. My family of 5 went in with only 10 minutes left before closing the two ladies working were so kind and welcoming. If they were annoyed they didn't show it at all. For Mr Pickles as a brand - 5 stars. Menu is excellent, it's one of my favorite things about Modesto. For this specific location - 1 star or 2, max. Some issues: - the plexiglass from Covid had been removed and left dangerously jutting out. I scratched myself accidentally at checkout and drew blood. Told the associate in a nice way, he said owner had tried to remove it but left a jagged edge poking out. I get it, not his job. But kind of shocking in this day and age of litigiousness. - the bread at this specific location is ALWAYS stale. Very strange given the Pelandale location is always amazing. - no real dine in options - no fountain or water options - staff is ok, but not nearly as friendly as Pelandale. Those folks are great. Just leaving this review in the hopes it can help spur actual change, bc Mr Pickles as an overall franchise is fantastic. So much wasted potential at this location. read more

After visiting and frequenting multiple Mr. Pickles shops (Crow Canyon Rd., Pacifica, 5 points Modesto, Pelandale, Turlock, Pleasanton) I can definitively state that the Oakdale Rd. location in Modesto is THE bottom of the pickle barrel. Can you give NO stars?!?! It's bad enough that there are countless Denver Bronco motifs around the shop (shows ownership's lack of insight and helps us understand why the shop runs like a 3rd rate subway imitation - and that's awful because subway sucks) and every time you walk in there are at least 2 staff members aimlessly walking around trying to figure out what to do. After 3 consecutive online orders that were incorrectly prepared (missing additions, including exclusions, on the wrong bread, etc.) I gave one last chance. Ordered online and had order ready time of 1:25pm. Showed up at 1:30 and they say, "we're working on it..." as they begin to prep sandwiches. 2 sandwich artisans stood at the register and line with full trout breathing when I said, "working on it? It's supposed to be ready." I then see 2 more employees wandering aimlessly in the back. Now I must point out there were ZERO customers in the shoppe. And a 5th employee sitting at a table behind a laptop. Not to mention the owner strolling around in his garish Blue and Orange pullover. My first question was then, "how is this order not even started?!?" So I went back out to my car and gave them 10 more minutes to finish the order. Upon returning to the shop there was another customer standing and waiting to be helped. As 3 workers circled in confusion in the visible back of house area, the table-top employee sat looking on with no movement towards the prep areas. There was one lad still finishing my order. So after an additional 3 minutes the order was filled. And the sandwich steward said, "here you go." No apology for delay, no question of "anything else" and no gratitude "thanks and have a nice day" given. This will be the last time. Why? Because when I got home they incorrectly made one of the two sandwiches. How difficult can it be to show a modicum of attention to detail and customer service? I guess it just goes to show that leaders set the tone. And since the owner clearly thinks it's all working well we know why the place is in need of a lot of help. As if the broncos comment earlier didn't already indicate how this place would be run. read more

A $15 sandwich from Mr. Pickles is not worth the money. This deli has changed... Bathrooms were closed 2 hours before store closure. Inside seating area unavailable (again). No fountain drinks (not even water). The quality of ingredients were not premium grade despite the premium price. A full size Mr. Pickles sandwich next to a footlong from Subway is half the size. The customer service is suprisingly poor given their past. Maybe this particular location? There are other deli sandwich options in the area. I suggest pass on Mr. Pickles to pay less money some place else for better quality food and customer service. read more

It looks like they used Tokyo style noodles, which is fine, but I find the Hakata style is better in my opinion. I also ordered Karaage. I was hoping it would have been handmade, it seems to have been premade. It was ok, the dipping sauce was good though. Overall, the ramen would fall into the mediocre Japanese ramen range. So while it's not bad, I would have expected better food for paying over $30.

This place had good reviews so I was excited since I haven't had great Vietnamese food in Fresno. Was hoping this would be a treat. But it wasn't. Service wasn't great. No one ever checked on us to see if we needed anything. It wasn't crazy busy in there either since we there at off hours. Ambiance is standard for this kinda place. Whatever. Pretty big menu tho. Decided to do appetizers for dinner. ORDER: Crispy Crab Cakes: There was no discernible crab in them. Not even fake crab. No real flavor inside. It just tasted of overly greasy crust. But it was crispy I'll say. Choked down 1 & gave up. Fried Rolls: Normally the thing I love most at Vietnamese restaurants. This was mushy inside & bland. Pork & Shrimp Spring Roll: Wasn't filled very much. Like barely there noodles. One section I ate had none but had white radish strips, so I thought it was just lettuce, pork, shrimp & radish. I don't like a ton ton of noodles but it needed triple the amt to be an avg amt of noodle. The best thing about this was the peanut sauce. I give them high marks for their peanut sauce. Fried got pork vermicelli & shrimp spring rolls. Her high praise was "they gave a lot of meat." But otherwise her reaction was "it's ok." Other friend got garlic butter chicken wings. I had one. There was no garlic flavor on the wings but there was a bit of garlic & onion on the plate w/them. Otherwise, they tasted like naked wings. I like naked wings & admit they were cooked well. She also got brisket & flank pho w/out noodles. She said meat was tender & delicious. I really really wanted to like them more than I did. This is only the 2nd or 3rd time I've ever reviewed something where I gave less than 4 stars. Not my cup of tea, but glad they seem to have found their audience since they don't have poor reviews overall. Happy for them. Still on the quest for good Central Valley Vietnamese!

They asked if we had a reservation but didn't think that it would be needed since it's not like a fancy restaurant and I don't know many ramen places that takes reservations. Since we didn't , we got seated on the bar which is fine. For it being in Modesto, they try to get the anime vibe with toys and anime art around. I'm no ramen expert but I've tried over a dozen ramen places in Tokyo, Vancouver, Japan town in LA, San Francisco, Oahu, Seattle just to name a few cities. So we got first the spicy garlic edamame. Not bad at all, had a kick to it and was edible. From a scale of 1 to 5. I'd give it a 5. For the main entree, I wanted the garlic tonkatsu but the waitress said they ran out.... Ok, for a Saturday night at 6 pm, running out of a ramen and they've been in business for several years now?!? never had that happen before in any ramen shop I've been to. So me and my wife both got the Ichiraku ramen which was a miso broth with pork belly. Price $23. I added 2 more pork belly at $5 more. Oh, the waitress mentioned no bamboo shoots and no fish cake........ ok, never had that happen before in a ramen shop. So while eating edamame, I kept track of how long it took we got our ramen.... It took 30 minutes before we got our ramen... definitely atypical to wait that long wait but I guess it's because they offer a lot of items besides ramen. Presentation was fine, the pork belly was seared on one side with a blow torch since I can taste that searing. . It just had green onions, 2 seaweeds and 2 soft boiled eggs which I was impressed the yolk wasn't overcooked. The noodles I chose was thin and was good with a soft texture. The miso broth was average Over all, it was an okay ramen. Me and my wife both didn't finish our bowls... definitely unusual since we love ramen but somehow, it didn't fulfill our satiety to finish and be content. I can tell you that of all the ramen places I've been to. This is average and doesn't compare to Ramen 101 in Modesto that I've ordered many times before my first time here. Sadly, I can only give it 3 stars because the ramen was average and not in the same league as other ramens I've had in other places and cities. And if me and my wife couldn't finish our ramen, that's a tell tale sign it was just okay. Plus, the place is called Konfucius Eats, doesn't have a Japanese name for a restaurant since "Confucius " is a Chinese Philosopher lol. In fact, I didn't see any Japanese or Asian cooks... just saying that's atypical to the other ramen establishments I've been to. For Modesto, it's aight. I just can't see myself going back here for a long time. Lastly, they are open Tuesday to Saturday only .
