Had little time before Gallo Center Show, found Church Key close by. Rolled in and received a table, beer and menus provided promptly Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Full American fare offered.Pizza,Burgers, Salad Nachos, etc. We had the Classic Cheeseburger and Nachos.... Every thing was delicious and great service. read more

WOW FACTOR? Yes. The server was excellent at getting us on time to the Gallo Center. First time ever, a server took the initiative to bring us the bill right away so there was no delay in paying. Thank you! HAVE AGAIN: Try other burgers next time. Glad they have 1/3 lb burgers. NOT HAVE AGAIN: The Gangnam burger was good, but the combination of burger, bacon, fried egg and kimchi did not blend well together. read more

Not sure what we expected.. but it didn't meet expectations. I will start by saving the service was really good but the food was a no for us. We ordered chicken nachos and burrato pizza. The pizza was ok and the nachos were underwhelming and probably had 7-8 pieces of chicken. I will say our drinks are really good and really well priced! $8 for a margarita, and a $80 bill for 5 drinks and two appetizers, that's almost unheard of nowadays. If we came back, it would be just for the drinks. read more

Had a great lunch here with family. Wait staff were very friendly and patient with our large group. Relatively large space but felt intimate. Had the bonanza burger and the coconut curry cauliflower which were both great. Kids had pizza and liked them as well. Will likely be back. read more

We visited Churchkey last week in November 2025 and as usual, it was a great experience. This place is roomy inside and is great for dates, small, medium, or large groups as well. It can be a bit noisy at times, but the atmosphere is great and also very fun. There's even a cute spot upstairs you can choose to sit in as well. I ordered the bonanza burger and wife ordered the borderline nachos. It was really good. I also ordered a blackberry bramble with whiskey. Our server was highly attentive and really kind. She made sure to go out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. All in all, I love this place and highly recommend it. They have something on the menu for everyone! read more

Came here on a Thursday evening and it took a little while to be greeted by anyone however we locked eyes with a number of servers who didn't say anything. It wasn't packed but there were some people. A server eventually came from behind the counter on the left and greeted us. We chose to sit at the bar where again it took a while for anyone to say anything to us. The bar tender finally came over and handed us waters without saying anything and that's when my husband said hello how are you and the bartender responded with good. Energy was clearly very low 2/10 in the service department. We order the jalapeño pizza and poutine. Both were sooooo greasy! I had to blot my pizza bc of the amount of grease sitting on top of my pizza. Food was about a 4/10. The only reason I'm giving this place a 2/5 is because our drinks were good. However that certainly isn't enough to make us want to return. read more

The food is good. Great selection of cocktails and beer. But I can't get over their lack of customer service. The server's attentiveness is failing big time. Whenever I'm looking around for my server they're always near the front talking with each other or doing some mundane task when they should be attending to their guests. This has been my experience the past 8 or 9 times I've came here. There's even been several occasions where I had to walk up to the front just to get a refill or tell my server we've been waiting to order. I've actually been coming here since the place opened up. The only reason why I still come here is because my daughters love it. But no more. Customer service is everything to me and this place needs big time improvement. Until then I won't be wasting my money here anymore. read more

I've been telling myself I'm on a "diet" (you know, the kind where you still eat wings but balance it out with a salad so it feels healthy). I make the Fresno-to-SF trek pretty often, and somewhere around the middle of that drive, the hunger kicks in and I start scrolling through Yelp like it's DoorDash for the highway. On one of those trips, I searched "salads" and stumbled onto Churchkey. Let me tell you, I'm mad I didn't find this spot sooner. Instant midway stop. Locked in. I ordered the Cowboy Cobb for myself and some wings for my fiancé (because love is sharing food but also pretending you didn't secretly want the wings too). First bite of that Cobb? SMACK. Like, I don't know what they're putting in their salads, but it had no business being that good. Big, fresh, flavorful, and it actually felt like a meal, not just sad lettuce pretending to be dinner. And those wings? MASSIVE. Crispy like they came straight out of a food commercial. You know, the slow motion, crunch sound effect kind of crispy. The vibe inside sealed the deal for me. Spacious, chill atmosphere, definitely the type of place where you can kick back with friends or just post up with a plate of wings and pretend you're still "on a diet." The staff was super friendly too, helpful, welcoming, the kind of people that make you feel like a regular even if it's your first time walking in. Modesto isn't usually on my rotation, but now? Yeah, I'll be detouring through just to come back here. If you're on the 99 and debating another sad drive-thru meal, do yourself a favor and pull off for Churchkey. Trust me, your stomach (and your fake diet) will thank you! read more

Highly disappointed in the service my friend and I received today. While I fully understand that establishments get busy, there is absolutely no excuse for unsanitary conditions. I wasn't even upset about waiting an hour -- we were patient and even asked for our food to go because we had to get back to work. Where my frustration truly comes from is the complete lack of concern shown by the manager, Courtney. She was dismissive, rude, and brushed off the fact that I found a hair in my food. Her exact response was, "these things occasionally happen." She also let me know that she was too busy to issue a refund. I'm sorry, but the tone you used and the way you made me feel as a customer was unacceptable. I left feeling unvalued and disrespected, and it's the sole reason I will no longer support this business. And just to be clear, Courtney -- I do not "occasionally" enjoy hair in my food. read more

Food was really good. Service wasn't the best. We must have caught our server on a bad day.

Hello. Lactose intolerant and willing to sacrifice the world of my intestines for pizza. The cast iron plated tator tots with fried Jalapeños and cheeses ? UGH. The pizzas? UGH (as a vegetarian just ask for subs). The sauces. The beers. The burgers. UGH Just go already. No need to dress fancy. This is a great place and the servers are a HOOT. read more

I called church key today to place a to go order and was informed that there is a 5% gratuity added to to go orders. I informed the person on the phone, that's ridiculous and let them know they could cancel the order. To charge a gratuity, a mandatory one at that, for a to go order is insane! They lost $30 in sales because they want to enforce gratuity on to-go orders. They have now lost my business. read more

I've been here more times I can count but I figured I should finally write a review. Being a local, these are one of our go-to spots to take out-of-towners. The menu has something for everyone & even if there is sometimes a wait, the place is big enough that you don't have to wait too long. They have a ton of indoor seating - your choice at the bar, high seating, or a regular table. They have a good amount of outdoor seating, both at front & back of the restaurant. The back of the restaurant has super cute murals! I've always had friendly waiters/waitresses, no matter how busy it is. My go-to drink always is the Aperol Spritz - super refreshing & bonus, it looks super cute! There were two instances where two other customers asked me what I was drinking because it was so interesting to look at. Okay, okay, okay - What you came here for - THE FOODS! Coconut Curry Cauliflower Bites: MY FAVE! Super yums, so much flavor! Yum Yum Cauliflower Bites: This used to be my favorite but the last couple of times I've ordered this - it's had this burnt taste. Lemon Pepper & Spicy BBQ Cauliflower Bites: These flavors are both good. Jacked Up Poutine: Yuuuuuums, love me my fried potatoes & gravy. I always ask for the bacon on the side. Seoul Bowl: I've tried this twice & it's yums. Love the spicy sauce. You can substitute any of the burgers with an impossible burger for an extra charge. Love it! My favorite burger is the Bonanza - the house BBQ sauce is so delicious. Overall, we will definitely be back so I can get my Aperol Spritz & Cauliflower Bites fix :) read more

The food is good but my goodness, two of their workers just hate working there! We ordered to go and the young lady taking our order just seemed to hate the world and was rude to my two colleagues. They either get treated so poorly by the restaurant management or they seriously just need to find a job that's not in customer service. I love this place but this service is really making it look so bad. I hope they get better. read more

Stopped by for a couple of micheladas to wind down the night, and this spot hit the mark. While we didn't get a chance to try the food this time, the menu looked solid definitely planning to come back for a proper meal soon. The vibe is lively with spacious indoor seating and a decent sized bar. It looks like it gets pretty packed during peak hours, which makes sense given the atmosphere. Great place to grab a drink and hang out can't wait to return and check out more of what they have to offer. read more

Churchkey is one of my go-to spots for downtown eateries. Tasty pints, delish cocktails, really decent pies! The pies could be a little less well-done on the bottom but that's more of a personal preference I guess. Love the variety of beers on tap--there is something for everyone! Service is always spot on; all the staff are great, attentive without hovering. This is a place you can take your time at, or stop in for a quick bite. read more

We went for drinks and we weren't disappointed. They were very reasonably priced at $10 and $12. They were decent to very good drinks depending on what you ordered. We also had the Jacked up poutine tater tots as an app and it was very good. It was a large restaurant and lots of families while we were there. We sat bar top and had good customer service. Went to Church Key expecting a decent sit-down experience and left extremely disappointed. We waited over an hour and a half total for ONE burger, and the restaurant wasn't even busy enough to justify that kind of wait. Our server basically came to drop off drinks, take our order, and disappeared for over an hour with zero updates. My boyfriend finally got up and went to the register because at that point we were ready to just take the food to go. The waiter saw him standing there and immediately assumed he was picking up a DoorDash order instead of recognizing him as someone from her own table. That alone says a lot about the level of attention and service we received. She told him to go back and wait at the table, and then suddenly followed behind him with the burger we had been waiting forever for. After all that, the food was mediocre at best and absolutely not worth the wait or rude service. Needless to say, no tip was left. I understand this is a sit-down restaurant, but taking an hour and a half for one burger with little to no communication is ridiculous. Definitely not somewhere you can stop by for lunch or before plans unless you're okay with potentially being late to wherever you need to be. read more

Churchkey - Downtown Modesto Visited during Graffiti Week 2025 This place hits the perfect note, vibe, flavor, and service all in tune. I stopped in early during Graffiti Week and ordered the Baja Bowl with a Tall Vato Loco Lager, and... wow. The bowl was light, fresh, and layered with flavor, crisp tortilla strips, bright veggies, and just enough zest to keep you digging in. The beer was cold, smooth, and golden...paired perfectly. The interior is modern but welcoming, with a sleek bar, great lighting, and a mellow crowd. Music on the PA was on point...Johnny B. Goode, Dream Lover, Good Vibrations, setting a classic, uplifting mood for the week. Service was excellent. My server was kind, sharp, and warm...exactly the type of presence you hope for when the day is just unfolding. Big thanks to the team for holding space with style. Churchkey is a gem on 12th. I will be back. Especially when the music and the mood align like this. read more

It was my first time coming here. I had just drive in from SoCal and I was looking for a friendly atmosphere and good food. Unfortunately, I didn't receive either. My friend and I sat at the bar and the male bartender that approached us was not welcoming. I was asking about their beer and he responded "you're using wine terms", I previously mentioned that I don't know beer too well. We then placed our order and waited about 40 mins for our food to come out. At one point I politely asked another bartender if he could check the status and he kindly checked. Another patron next to me (random man) interrupted the bartender while he was speaking to me to mention how "WE" understand because it's a Friday night. I did understand, I wasn't upset. After that the food was subpar, the pizza tasted microwaved. The only good thing about this place was the cauliflower appetizer. Lastly, I didn't see the rude bartender once wash his hands, he was picking up the ice by his hands and placing it in the cups. Come at your own risk but DONT sit at the bar! read more

This is my third time coming here. The staff are wonderful and super sweet and welcoming. I love how chill the atmosphere is. Their pizzas are incredible! My favorite is their Yardbird pizza, but I've also tried the forager and wu killa bee which are also delicious! Their housemade ranch is also amazing! I also loveee their drinks. Their drinks are on the stronger side, but very affordable so it feels like you're getting your money's worth. Great place to pregame and get a small appetizer also. The wait times can be a while though, especially if there's many people and you're sitting at the bar. But not too bad. Overall love this place and will be coming here again :) read more

ordered $175 to go lunch today for a business meeting called before I came to find out where to park, was told they don't have a parking lot street parking is fine. Asked if my order was ready. They said it would be at noon so I parked on the street went in and paid for my to go order and left. You may ask why didn't you check your order? I didn't know what was on the order the client had ordered what they wanted got all the way to where my business meeting was only to be told that they forgot part of the food and I had to drive back across town to get it when I entered the establishment. They apologized and told me that they had 20 orders for to go and they were just really busy. I thanked them for apologizing and said I assume that the 27.95 in gratuity would be a removed. The server said no it wouldn't because orders for pick up over 6 items were charged a set % gratuity so the kitchen could be tipped without taking from the servers pocket. In fairness she did refund the two items I had to drive across town for. Im sure the food is tasty but service was not. read more

Solid menu for when you just don't quite know what you want. Churchkeys is such a vibe. My last visit was great. I ordered the cauliflower bites (my fav) and a pizza. The bites were amazing. Tasty with or without ranch. The pizza we got was the forager. I can tell you we went on Tuesday and it was around 2 pm so it was not busy and we received excellent service and we had our food out promptly. The sourdough bread they use for their chicken sandwich is so delicious, my daughter had the pepperoni pizza and that was amazing, my husband had one of their special burgers I for the name but he said it was also so good and he would like to go back to try more items.
