My family and I have been here a few times. We love the menu. There's something for everyone. Servers have always been friendly. However, we've yet to be served in a timely manner. On our last (meaning most recent and also probably very last) visit, I had reservations for 90 minutes before our show at Gallo. We were seated quickly and drinks were brought quickly. When we placed our order (tots as an appetizer and pizza and burger) about 10 minutes after being seated, we were told the kitchen is "a little crazy." We still had over an hour before the show. Suffice it to say it took way too long, drinks weren't refilled, tots came out after the meal, and we were able to eat for about 5min before we had to pack it up to rush to the theater. Food is good, but with so much competition in the area, they need to step up their game and staff the kitchen better. read more

I just love this place and this is my to-go Pizza place in Modesto. Being a vegetarian I usually order cauliflower bites and burrata margarita pizza. They are super delicious.simple yet full of flavors. The service is usually fast and ambience is good as well. They have other great vegetarian pizza options as well. read more

The staff is really friendly and even though they have a lot of options, the menu isn't too big. I've been here several times and haven't had any food that wasn't good! Courtney is very attentive and goes above and beyond! I recommend the cauliflower bites, the bowls, and the pizza. All solid options. I also love that you can get personal food but can also make it family style. Will always have this as a go-to place to eat! read more

Love stopping in for a pizza and a few cold ones. Found this place on a Tour of Modesto thing where we paid $20 to visit select restaurants to taste their yum yums. Their cauliflower wings are delicious too. Great beer selection, a bit noisy but that's ok. read more

Churchkey - Bars Near Me - Modesto, California

First time eating at Churchkey Really nice ambiance, comfortable seating and environment was chill. Halfway through the meal a really obnoxious table was sat near us and they were loud and distracting, not the restaurant's fault, just sucks that people can't or won't read a room and see how much of a disturbance they are being. We had the Borracho Nachos, good but lacking flavor or charm, probably wouldn't get again. House Buffalo was good, spicy, dies fast so makes you want more or to load up Rock Burger was really good, crispy bacon, melted cheese, great flavor and size. Tots were hot and sauce was tangy and nice. Customer service was great, waiter gave us our space and dish-ware was immaculate and professionally presented Would definitely return during a slow weekday to really enjoy my time there read more

Ended up coming here unexpectedly while waiting for a table at raw sushi bistro. We got the jacked up poutine and it was delicious! They have a great selection of beers as well, we had a couple. Will definitely be back to try out their wings and more, they looked amazing! Really friendly staff as well and laid-back environment (really comfortable bar stools with backings.) read more

We had the club & pizza. We did start with the yum-yum cauliflower. We will come back for the cauliflower. Lightly pattered and very flavorful. The chicken club had homemade bread, it was good. The mushroom pizza was really good with homemade dough. Service was good. Was loud during prime dinnertime/after work crowd. Nice that crowd clear, not as loud. read more

We came here 2 days in a row. First Night we ordered the Burrata Margarita Pizza and Q&L Grain Bowl-We subbed Cauliflower instead of chicken. Both were VERY good. The Grain Bowl is served cold and I wasn't expecting it to be. I took the bowl home and heated it up and it's now my favorite thing on the menu! I just prefer it warmed. The Pizza was sooo good-thin and crispy. The second night My hubby ordered the Classic Churchkey Burger & added caramelized onions & the fried cheese shirt with a House Salad. I ordered the Bonanza Burger & added lettuce with Garlic Tots. We substituted Cauliflower for the burgers instead of meat. read more

Great tap house with bartenders who know how to make a drink! The inside definitely captures the old-school 209 city ambiance, but is very spacious and welcoming. I LOVE the Whiskey Sours here, absolutely nailed it! I also ordered the Chicken Pesto sandwich - which was delicious, but the bread was a bit tough. I have nothing bad to say about this establishment! read more

I went here to eat ... food was odd tastings ... now it's now why Saw their health inspection 12th St. in Modesto, had seven violations Aug. 8 -- two of them major. Inspectors observed a dead rat on the floor of an abandoned bathroom in the facility and rodent droppings were in the corner of a hallway. The ceiling in the abandoned restroom had a large rodent access area. Another access point was identified at the wall/floor junction under a drink mixer machine and a dropping was found on floor of this area. A January 2023 inspection report indicated that the owners of the restaurant had been observing rodents in the facility since summer 2022. Rodents, their feces and traps have continued to be noted by inspectors since then. The rubber holder for the drink pistol at the bar was soiled. The soap dispenser was missing at the hand sink and the hot water faucet at the three-compartment sink in the bar area did not work. read more

Two stars for the friendly staff ... the Baja bowl is what I ordered. Terrible. Menu says it comes with fried brown rice. The rice was so mushy. Not edible. I ate the few pieces of chicken that came in the bowl. This restaurant is very hit or miss with their food. read more

Came here back in June 2022. Very spacious restaurant that is great for large groups with excellent customer service. They have quite an extensive beer selection and cocktail drinks to choose from. It's American fare with an occasional twist on some items (e.g. Thai coconut cauliflower bites, Gangnam style burger, nachos). The Gangnam style burger with tater tots was extremely satisfying! Love that they serve the burgers with a side of tater tots rather than your typical french fries. Tater tots...the best form of potatoes in my humble opinion. If you happen to be in Modesto, definitely would recommend stopping by. read more

Good food, good beer, good whiskey, and good prices ... but ambivalent and slow service.

Called in an order for pick up. Got there 15 minutes later and was told I never called. I showed them my recently placed calls with their number and the gal said oh not sure if that's our number. I called it and she answered and still refused to acknowledge. It was 108 out and needless to say waiting in the heat not fun. Recently moved to Modesto, won't be ordering again. read more

Food was okay. Nothing special, but it got the job done. However, you cannot convince me the drinks are not being under poured. My girlfriends and I all had 3 margaritas each - not even a buzz. At one point I was like, "did I order a virgin version of this?!" Felt like a complete rip off. read more

We had dinner here, it was great! Everyone loved their meals. I had the BLT Ceasar salad and tots. 10/10. We ordered the wings as an appetizer, they were excellent (some of the best restaurant wings I've tried). I also ordered a Paloma (so so at best), followed with a glass of wine. Nice drink selection. read more

Killer experience with Devry as usual. Great bar tender. Drinks well made that fit the responsible profile of the company without being "weak." Top 5 places in Modesto for a proper drink and food. Great conversation at the bar. read more

HELLA cute. This place is hella cute. My fiancé and I went and sat at the bar and the bartender was probably one of the coolest vibes in the building. She knew how to strike up a convo but also allowed us time to enjoy our meal. Her drinks were amazing and the drinks on the menu all looked good too. I ordered the veggie options because they looked good and they were beyond good. The chef came out and overheard us saying how much we loved it and he really was passionate about the food. He explained the type of sauce it was and touched on how it was prepared. When restaurants are excited about what they have to offer... I'm excited about eating it lol! I definitely recommend for a weeknight out or last minute date night when we need some place quick! read more

Service and ambience was great! Savannah suggested the best pineapple sangria I've ever had! 10/10 would come back here again

Love the cauliflower wings! Savannah made sure to provide the herb aioli instead of ranch as a vegan option.

Live the Thai curry cauliflower bites. My appetizer go to every time. They also have some good beers on tap and even a couple of nitros to choose from. I have had the nachos which are pretty tasty. I need to go back to check out the rest of the menu. read more

Foods are salty. Lesser the salt on the foods like hamburgers. Service is good drinks is okay. The ambience are okay.

When we arrived, there was gonna be a wait. However we got access to the bar, so crisis averted. It's kinda spacious inside, with an upstairs and some outside seating. The place has a nice warehouse feel. Service at the bar was great. Staff always asked if we needed anything and even double-checked that we received what we wanted, such as sauces or refills. We got the Classic Churchkey burger with bacon and the Jason Momoa burger. The classic burger has the standard condiments for a burger, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, and thousand island. Overall, the burger was on point. The Jason Momoa burger was ordered without the pineapple. During brunch the Gangnam Style burger - a personal favorite -is not on the menu. Jason Momoa burger is probably the next closest thing. Jack cheese, kbbq sauce, bacon, lettuce, and a side of ranch. The tater tots were a little cold, but overall the food was great. read more

Usually a good experience here, but tonight, not so much. I ordered 2 old fashioneds , bartender tells me the amount - I pay with cash. 5 minutes , no change , 10 minutes - no change. She asks if we " need anything" else- I say "my change", which she apparently forgot. Still takes another 5 minutes.. .. I was gonna leave it as a tip anyway, but you gotta bring the change , and let me make that choice, don't assume it's a tip, which is what I think happened. Will think twice before going here again. read more

Its rare for me to review any establishment. The stars are for the ambiance, consistency in meal preparation and presentation. As a lifetime small business owner its advantageous to review your body of work occasionally. In this particular situation the service/wait staff and management needs to be looked at closely. The upton Sinclair never disappoints. I visit churchkey weekly and bring out of town visitors regularly. Lastly, touch pay should be implemented soon read more
