I'd like to start by saying this is not Twitter...or Facebook. For any of you who seek the enjoyment of counter-attacking by either saying I shouldn't go there or I have axes to grind, you may want to sign up for either of those websites. This website is not called "what's your opinion on my review". This is Yelp. A website where you can rate your experience with restaurants and share your opinions about your visit. I have to say, opinions are like butts, everybody has one and they usually stink - Your opinion of Kelly, the waitress named in my review as a "beautiful, bright, funny, young woman" show she possess all those great characteristics-but it centainly hasn't made her a good waitress. Sadly, possessing such gifted talents hasn't made her use them towards most of her customers, many who chose to speak out, just like me. That's pretty much all the Yelp website is interested in. The rating of an establishment and opinions on the performance of such place. Perhaps you should suggest she finds a different career. I have recently posted a review about P. Wexford's pub after one of my many horrible experiences with the place(I would say the only other worse thing than finding a hair on your food would be to find a bug, or half of one!), and the worse one I'd experienced yet with one said waitress who I (along with other reviewers who happened to mispell her name, and for that I apologize), have "blatantly accused" after finding one of her hairs on my food by the "oh, so faithful" customers and most likely personal friends of the waitress. I simply stated my review and opinion of P.Wexford's. I am not one to hide names of incompetent waitresses. I feel if an employee contributes to the decay of a restaurant, I will blatantly spell out the name, in order to let others beware of such poor service and perhaps show the owner he needs to be taking care of such rotten apple. Let it be known, my review was posted on 1/14/09, and there have been several other posts about the establishment prior to mine which were not criticized. Seems to me, just because I spelled the name of a terrible employee, I now need to be called upon my review. Here are just a few of the highlighs of past customers: (also, take a minute and read my previous review of P. Wexfords Pub) 1/14 "...unfortunately, the ones that should have been replaced (Kelly, Kim, Jill and a few others...) are still part of the P. Wexford's staff which is quite disturbing..." 9/8 "...I guess there just wasn't anything really.... special about the place though...." 8/21 "...the service may suck but if youre focused on good service its probably not a good idea..." 5/30 "... the place is loud..." 5/9 "...The food however I'm not convinced of. I have known a few people that worked in the Kitchen and I wouldn't trust them with any type of food..." 4/23 "...Staff is way too incompetent for me to handle..." 8/30/07 "...Lousy service and terrible local bands..." 7/4/07 "...Don't expect much service out there, you'll probably have to go in and get your own drinks..." 12/2/06 "...but pretty much the crappiest service ever, which stops me from coming back on a regular basis..." and...last, but, not least: 8/18/09 ......"we had a problem with one of the waitresses. We went in on a slow afternoon and it took our waitress forever to take our drink order, and our food order. We saw her in the back eating instead of taking our order, and then when she brought us our food, and later our bill, she was eating! We refuse to be served by her when we go there now." *I can only guess who that is!!!* With that said, my review shouldn't be the only one criticized when, in fact--several other reviews state the same: high prices, loud, the food is not very good, long wait time for your order because of incompetent staff members and rude waitresses. I was honest enough to state the name-- Kelly--of the incompetent waitress' name. It does not mean I have a personal vendetta against her. I am, however, stating she is a terrible waitress and shouldn't be working in the restaurant industry. Sadly, because of waitresses like her, customers will never have a good experience at any establishment. Bottom line--P.Wexford's is not an establishment I recommend for a dining experience. That is my opinion as well as several of the other customers who have posted previously. There have been many new changes made to the place and the ones made were not for the success of P. Wexford's. The food is not the best, the beer selection is not the greatest, prices have gone up and the portions have decreased. As always, service is ultimately bad, mostly to blame because the staff is careless and terrible. The place is very full of character on the outside, and somewhat inviting on the inside, but it sure has gone through many changes, and sadly, not for the best! The music is still horrible and the service has now gotten even WORSE! Having lived in Modesto all of my life,P.Wexford's Pub used to be one of my favorite hangouts and they had THE BEST selection of beers in town, but unfortunately it has experienced lots of changes, and I regret to say, not for the best... prices have gone ridiculously high (salads are nearly $11-13~~ come on!!~) and pints have gone up and the selection hasn't been as great as it once used to be. I remember one of my nights of choice was Thursday's Pint nights, where you could buy the pint for the advertised beer of the week and get a refill for ANY other beer for the price of beer of the day..... not anymore! you now only get sale price for the beer advertised, and you have to pay full price for any of the other beers...(cheers to the owner for losing customers when he decided to make that a new rule!!) ask around before you decide to stop in, regulars of the place no longer feel it's what it used to be. Food can be good, depends on what you order, but be aware --prices have gone up and quality of food declined. Along with other bad changes that have taken place, some of the great staff that used to work there no longer does (the word from the regulars is they either quit or got laid off because of the new owner!!) SAD!!! I remember most of the staff that used to work Pint Nights who always made the night fun for me and the group of friends I brought along (some were Andrea who was a wonderful server, Joanne and Jerad were one of my favorite bartenders/servers! Jerad always had a great smile and was so polite!) unfortunately, the ones that should have been replaced (Kelly, Kim, Jill and a few others...) are still part of the P. Wexford's staff which is quite disturbing. It takes forever for you to get your order in when you're served by any of them and the service is downright terrible. They will either be rude or chewing on food when they come to take your order. Thursday nights used to be a busy night, and don't get me wrong- I understand it's hard to get to everyone at once, so patience is a virtue! But when you see your waitress chit-chatting with the people she knows sitting at the table next to you and eating fries off their plate instead of taking your order, it's quite irritating. Also ladies, don't bring your personal life issues to work with you! it reflects on your customer service. It's bad enough already!!!(there was some incident between Kelly and Kim one of the nights I was in the premises, and Kelly was rude and moody, and between making scenes with Kim, she brought a pitcher of beer to my table and spilled half of it on our laps.) Believe me, no one likes to see that and it definately takes the interest of ever returning to the place. I have to say, the patio can be a fun hangout on warm nights, but again, don't expect to see much service out there! it's almost like they forget that's part of their restaurant. If you're there for some good conversation with friends and you're not thirsty or hungry right away, or if you're ok with getting up for a refill on your own often, then you'll likely enjoy the fresh air. I have to say, P. Wexford's Pub occasionally offers good food. It depends who's cooking in the kitchen at the time you go in to eat. When your food is prepared by the head chef, it's quite tasty. otherwise if he happens to not be working the day you stop by, it's as nasty as it can get. the place has taken a turn for the worse since the new owner, R. Wagner took over the place in April 09. He kept some of the horrible staff and then recruited new "bimbos" he likes to call waitresses to serve you, and the service is as bad as it has ever been. If you read all the other Yelper's reviews, you'll find waitress service is the biggest complaint. The waitresses are rude, lack a personality and they'll be eating in the back of the kitchen and come take your order with their mouth's full most of the time. Not only that, they are so busy flirting with every young guy that comes in, they forget to refill your beer or ask if you need anything else, or even bring your check. It's dissapointing. To say the least, one of P.Wexford's employees, Kelly, struts around with her long hair ungroomed and untied, shaking or playing with it as she stops by and asks you what you want. It isn't the first time I've had one of her hairs on my plate. She is one of the worst waitresses of this place. If you come in to try the place out, make sure you request a different waitress, it may help your experience. She will stand around talking or flirting to other people she knows, and completely forget to take care of her customers. I used to be a regular and suggested a staff meeting at the place once, and she was our server. That night, the Pub lost alot of it's business from me and people I know. I own and manage several properties and believe me --I know people. It was truly disgusting to find one Kellie's hairs in my plate and another co-worker's that night. I tried calling the owner the following day just to bring it to his attention, and his response was: "oh, I don't know how that could have happened..." well...it did! P.Wexford's is absolutely NOT one of my favorite places and probably wouldn't be one of yours either unless you like dirty, smoky and loud restaurants with horrible service by their staff. I've only moved to the Modesto area for a little over a year, and finding a nice pub has been a challenge. This bar falls short in one very important category: Pub food. I've been spoiled most of my adult life living in the bay area where Irish and English pubs with A+ food are plentiful. The owner of P. Wexfords doesn't even try it seems. We ordered the shepherds pie, and what we got is what amounted to a bowl of flavorless chili, with mashed potatoes and some sour cream (sour cream on shepherd's pie? My Irish mother in law cringed!). It tasted so bland. It's always a bad sign when you're looking around for salt & pepper after the first bite. It was also $14 which -for chili- was expensive! I would stick to the traditional bar menu here (burgers and such). They also have something called "Irish nachos" which was thick french fries topped with crumbled corned beef and some cheese. Very uncreative and boring. I would advise the cook here to look up a few pub recipes online and consider revising his "Irish" creations. At least make the food resemble and taste like real pub food! The desserts were equally bland and overly sweet (bread pudding and some chocolate lava thingy). They also have a limited beer selection on tap and only one hefeweizen (Blue Moon). No Hoogarden and no Shock Top. At least they have Harp & Guinness. Their TVs at the bar are very small so getting a table in the main dining room is the thing to do if you're here to watch a game. The service here is very very good and the waitstaff does make you feel welcomed, so (not to be a complete Debbie Downer) I do enjoy the atmosphere here even if the food is not so good. For the Raider fans (and the few 49er fans left), this pub will not open early for the start of the 10 am NFL Sunday games, so the earliest you can come in is 11 am. Finally it's imperative that you avoid this bar on Monday nights unless you like your ears pounded with bad guitar solos and primal screams (open mic night). read more

Wexford's used to be a great place BEFORE the new owner, Roman, came into the picture. He not only immediately jacked up prices, but he also fired the majority of the original staff (who were very friendly & professional) and replaced them with only young bimbo girls. Some of these new girls are very rude, very snobby, and very unprofessional (They often use foul language... especially one of the brunette bartender girls)..... These girls definitely don't belong working in customer service. It's obvious they were hired (and remain employed) by Roman based solely on their looks. This new owner is not only greedy and shallow, but he openly treats his current employees very biased, probably depending on whether they are sleeping with him or not. I can't count the number of times my family (including my husband and my mother-in-law) witnessed him smiling and flirting with one of the young "hot" bimbos he hired, then seconds later while talking with a normal looking, down to earth employee, his smile disappears, and his entire demeanor changes. Its obvious this guy's focus is only on money and girls half his age, and it's nowhere near caring about the customers, and their dining experience. My family and SEVERAL of our friends and family members used to be regulars there for several years, but none of us care to step foot in there anymore. Since it was soo hot today instead of being in a hot kitchen cooking dinner we decided to take the kids and us out for dinner. We go to pwexfords it came highly recommended by our friend and we walk in are seated and order our food.. while we are waiting for our food we realize its around ninty degrees in there, the kids had sweat running down there poor little cheeks by the time we got our food we were so uncomfortable we couldnt even enjoy it the kids were miserable and we rushed through our dinner to get the heck outta there. The service was great the waitress was very apoligetic about the heat. The food was ok, maybe woulda been better if we werent about to pass out from heat exhaustion...i dont know if the owner realizes it or not but by being cheap with the air conditioner hes making the customers very uncomfortable and when its 104 degrees outside u go into a restaurant to cool off relax and have a nice meal and nice time with the family and instead its so hot the kids are fussy the husband is irratated and your sweating the whole time that doesnt make a for a happy customer....i dont know if the ac was broke or if the owner just forgot to turn it on but if on our next visit we walk inside and its hot at all we will turn around jump in our air conditioned car and go to a different place that cares if there customer is comfortable while they eat. thanks, A VERY HOT CUSTOMER.. read more

Went here for a work gathering and had an amazing time! Crazy beer selection..a lot of local brews ( I believe they brew their own beer as well) first off our server was Kimberly...she was a ray of sunshine! Best waitress hands down..I'd come back just to see her again!! The food was superb..even with all of our tweeks to our orders everything came out correct and delicious! Kudos to the kitchen staff! Next the band...Amazing very fun and talented..love the pub atmosphere. They have a patio where they allow cigars and smoking which is awesome! I never leave reviews but I felt obligated to share what an awesome place this is! Definitely my go to pub in modesto!! I ordered the Tina's pasta (recommendation by our server) and it was absolutely to die for for!! I can't wait to check out some other dishes and beer. Their kegs change so it's exciting to see what's going to be on tap next! Only complaint was the cocktails were a bit on the weak side from what my other guests said..but since I'm a beer drinker that didn't effect me! Love this place!!! Been going to Wexford's for many years and their cleanliness and food quality has continued to decline horribly. We ordered the 2-piece fish and chips and the fish sandwich. I ordered my fries well done to make sure they weren't limp and would be hot. We got there at 11:15 am with only two tables full and waited 30 minutes after ordering to get our food. How do you serve shitty, cold food at 11:15 am?????? Both plates of food hardly warm and the fish and fries appeared and tasted to have been left over from St Patrick's Day the day before. We don't go there frequently but each visit has been worse than the last. Additionally, there is old food splatter on the booth windows and the carpet still looks like someone changed their car oil on it. Must be off the grid of the health department.
