There's a nice ambiance in this restaurant. Service is fairly good too and beer is served at the perfect temperatures. My only complaint is in adding an up charge unknowingly to the customer. I've been here several times. The food is good; it's kind of a fun place. I arrived at 12:00, (on a Monday) and my friends shortly thereafter. We got our drinks, then after 30 minutes went looking for our server (who was also the bar tender). We told her we wanted to place our orders. She finally showed up. We placed our orders and our food showed up in a reasonable amount of time. Two of us ordered shepherds pie which was quite good. Another friend ordered a bunless cheeseburger, but "with lettuce and everything ". She received a burger patty with cheese...and absolutely nothing else. No condiments, no lettuce or tomato, no fries....nothing. After we ate we waited a good fifteen minutes and didn't get a bill. Finally asked another server if she could ask our server to bring our checks. When she arrived five minutes later we immediately handed her our credit cards indicating we were in somewhat of a hurry. Ten minutes later I went to the bar (where she was having a long chat with a male customer) and told her (truthfully) I had an appointment and needed to get my credit card back. If you're going for a lunch on a work day, you had better avoid this place. The food is somewhat pricey, but good. But the service is beyond slooooow. read more

Giving this place 4 stars only because they had a great live band on Thursday nights. The band was named Johnny and Kelly. Played all the great songs and they both had great personalities to match their stage presence! P. Wexford's door host was awesome, he was super kind and very receptive to our needs and wanted to accommodate our seating to our liking. Now for the actual bartender...her service wasn't the best, was mediocre, and in my opinion because I was not the opposite sex she never smiled once when I ordered or paid for our beers. I noticed the difference immediately when I saw her interactions with everyone else. When I asked for a sample of a beer that I have never tried before she made it seem like a big inconvenience. When I come back, I will try another server and see how it goes. read more

So VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!! We have cut back on how much we go out to eat, so tonight we decided to order from P Wexford's Pub and boy do we wish we hadn't!! We ordered 1 lb of boneless chicken wings, more like odds and ends of chicken breast that were cooked dry!!!! And no flavor. Fish and chips. Fish was over cooked and dark brown with a side of ultra dry fries, and the tarter sauce was so sour!! Order of fried zucchini , while they were dark, the inside was cooked well, but again, no flavor. The dip sandwich, was also dry and came with no au jus. The burger that was ordered was just an okay burger. Not dry at least but nothing fancy. I am really hoping that this was just a bad April fools joke and they are going to refund our money as the food was so bad. This is a shame as the last time I went, maybe 4 years ago, it was good food. We will likely NEVER go back, and I will recommend that if you go, go and eat inside, as at least you can get something to drink to help with all the sawdust you will be eating!! read more

I have always loved P Wexford's. I actually met my BF there 3 years ago so it's always had a special place in my heart. I hate to leave a negative review, but I just had pretty terrible service. I ordered the Turkey cranberry and Jack. I was really excited because it's one of my favorite type of sandwiches no matter what restaurant I go to. She first brought me the entirely wrong sandwich, a Turkey avocado on white bread loaded with Mayo. I told her it wasn't what I ordered, that I ordered the Turkey cranberry Jack. She responded saying that you get a choice of bread and I didn't specify (and did didn't ask). It wasn't just the bread hun, it was the completely wrong sandwich. So she took it back and brought me what I photographed. It was a terrible cold sandwich on a roll, loaded with Mayo again, with cold Turkey and a slice of cranberry. Again for the SECOND time, the wrong sandwich. I had a couple bites and just basically gave up. I would have absolutely sent it back, but my BF hates confrontation and asked me not to. The waitress avoided us completely after her mess up, I had to even walk up to the bar and ask for ketchup. She still charged us for it and never even acknowledged that I barely ate it. Finally ate here after living in Modesto my whole life! Not too bad. Their menu is cool cause they have a little of everything from wraps to burgers to shepherds pie. I ended up with the buffalo chicken wrap and garlic fries. It wasn't bad but I felt like the chicken in the wrap was a little cold. I wasn't trying to complain about it though cause it already took forever to get our food. The service was slow. Took almost 20 minutes just to get our checks and longer for us to pay and leave. Surprisingly good...well beyond "pub food." Parking is easy and encircles the building. Done up with comfy booths, lots of pubby maps, beer posters and other Irish and Scottish items. Booths are cozy and roomy. In fact, the whole experience is cozy, warm and no rush. Like in Ireland, you could sit and chat all day. Fireplace at one end is wonderful, esp on those grey, damp, rainy valley days. Menu is excellent with good options for lunch and dinner. Sandwiches are a meal in itself and the sides include a very yummy mayo slaw as well as fries or a salad. Dinner items, like traditional corned beef and cabbage, are available after 2pm. Bar has lotsa brews on tap and, of course, also via bottles and cans. Service is friendly and efficient. If you want to substitute or go slightly different than the menu, just ask and they will do what they can. To find it you have to keep your eyes focused as it does not jump out at you. Blending into other businesses on McHenry Ave you will be upon it all of a sudden. There are two driveways on either side, so go slow in the right hand lane to catch one of them. read more

I ordered the pub plate. It came with three different kinds of sausage and mashed potatoes. I liked the andouille the best. It was a little spicy. The other two sausages were just ok. The mashed potatoes were lumpy and bland. I definitely wouldn't bring kids to this pub because the drunk guy next to us was cussing very loudly. The atmosphere in general was pretty loud. I guess you might think this is normal for a pub/bar, but it was lunchtime. The service was friendly, but we had to flag them down for drinks several times. Overall I might eat here again as there were several items to choose from that sounded good. But it's a little pricey. Almost $16.00 for the pub plate and $13.00 for a sandwich. read more

I've been visiting that pub since it first opened, and the atmosphere is peaceful, warm, and friendly. Though others who have reviewed have mentioned poor service, I've never experienced the same. In fact, when I went there for my 21st birthday, the waitress who served us not only gave me my first drink for free, but even recommended another for me. When I took her up on it, she got that one for me for free too! Now really, does that sound like bad service to you? Meh... Food was very overpriced for the quality. The staff was very friendly and helpful. But not the "manager" Taylor. She was extremely rude and hostile toward her co-workers. She sat at a table and ordered the staff around in a loud and rude voice and made another customer visibly uncomfortable when they entered to use the restroom. At one point a female server was yelled at and told she would be "written up" and seemed like she would break down crying right there. All of this while the "manager" sat inside at a table without a mask. I observed this in the 90 seconds it took to pay my check at the exit door. There was no shame, even with a customer standing and listening. I'd hate to imagine what the staff have to endure for a whole work day. Good help is hard to find, but people should be treated with respect and dignity. This "manager" is a poor reflection on the whole business. read more
