I have been here several times due to work bringing be to Turlock. The have ordered the Dwayne Rock Johnson and the Kevin Hart birgers a few times. The burger are very good. (Note: I LOVE burgers, so I am very picky with my burgers.) Sometimes the fries are WAY over salted; sometimes they are fine. (Note to self: order unsalted fries next time.) Refills for drinks requires that you wait in line to ask for a refill. It was EXTREMELY slow to get a refill. Overall - I'd go back because the burger was quite good. read more

Nice little tap house in the Downtown area of Turlock. Came here with the wife on a Thursday night just to go out and grab some food. They had a DJ playing music, was kinda lively. We don't drink Alcohol but the had some Non-Alcoholic beers to purchase that were actually pretty good. I will have to say the Burger I ordered was pretty darn good (Black and Blue Burger) I took the onion rings and put it on the burger with gave it a nice crunch! What a great spot!! Commonwealth has totally hit the mark with their beers. My husband and I came with some friends as we were visiting from out of town. Our group came for drinks, apps, and to play games. The space is a great hangout spot. We had lots of beers and ciders and each one was better than the next. My husband found his new fav beer (can't recall the name but something with the bees knees). The apps we had too were yummy. The garlic fries took the cake with a nice texture and size of Fry with the perfect amount of seasoning. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the space was great for us to hang as a group of 6 and play monopoly deal all while enjoying the food and drinks of Commonwealth. Overall an excellent experience. A good sized group went here yesterday between a dry wedding and an even drier reception and all had a great time. The menu was great. I had my favorite Fieldwork hazy and others had the Pliny and red and white wines. Service was great. Fast and responsive. Ambiance was good too. We all felt comfortable and safe in downtown Turlock. Well this place is a medium size place but it offers very delicious food at a great great price. I'm happy to know there's a place that offers quality and a good quantity I love it! However I hope they take this advice as a learning curve. I suggest to please check your soft drinks ours tasted watered down. And please do something about the flies before it gets out of hand. Spend the money so people can wimpy their meals in peace. One last thing it's confusing to have to go sit down look at the money then go back up to the register maybe that's how you e been doing it but not a good vibe. Now I remember why I don't go here. It was 50 degrees outside when I arrived to meet a friend. concrete floors. High ceilings. Aesthetics are good. However, when you are so cold and feel like you're in an icebox... not fun. I had to switch my plan from beer to a red wine so I didn't have to hold a cold glass of beer. I told the gal at the front how cold it was and after hearing how they aren't cold... she turned around and told the guy wearing shorts to turn it up 1 degree. yes. Just 1 degree. Um... seriously. I asked her to look around and not one person had their coat off. That's a sign we are all cold. I don't know about all of you, but I like to be cozy and take my coat off and relax when I go out. My salad was marginal. my friend had the pork tacos and 1 chicken. He said they were fine. On another note... I had to leave a tab open to order my wine before my friend got there. I told her we would be eating as well. My friend ended up putting it on his card. But here we are 2 days later and I have a $1 pending on my card. I called Commonwealth and she said it automatically charges your card $1 and it should get reversed in 48 hours. Now, I know it's only $1, but, this never happens anywhere else. If you go to a bar and "keep it open" I have never been charged $1 on top of a bill to keep tab open. Have you?? It's my dollar, not yours to keep for 48 -72 hours! lol. The husband and I came here on a Sunday for the brunch menu and were pleased with the food and experience. I got the BLEAT sandwich (fried egg, bacon, tomato, lettuce, on sourdough with a lemon aioli) and he got the chicken and waffles. The aioli on the sandwich really lightened the flavor and was refreshing. Overall my husband liked his choice but would prefer that the chicken breast to be beaten thinner. The waffle was delicious. The food was pretty good and the drinks were very tasty and quickly served, but the employees and/or owner dont seem to understand what a "burger" is. The description for their Dwayne Rock Johnson burger says two 1/3lb "burgers" (which SEEMS like a good deal for the price), but what it means is two 1/3lb "patties". When I brought this up after receiving my meal the server just said "yes those are two 1/3lb burgers". We LOVE Commonwealth. As locals we visit a couple of times a month. ...arguably the best burger in Turlock.

I was super excited Commonwealth has made its way to downtown Turlock. Buuuuuut Commonwealth Turlock is not Commonwealth Modesto :( I've come to this spot a few times and the food has just been a hit or miss multiple times. Food menu at both locations are similar. Turlock carries buffalo cauliflower bites which I was so excited about and I LOVED the first time I tried them. The next few times I got them, they were not good at all, an odd slimy texture...probably just a bad batch. The ranch has also tasted super funky. My go to entree order is a Thai crunch salad, which also has been disappointing at the Turlock location. Watery and not crunchy: my salad lovers know what I'm talking about. I really hope it's just growing pains on the food because I haven't had issues in Modesto before. This spot is casual and super easy to order, just walk up and take a seat, which is nice. Solid spot for a beer and catching up with friends. They have a good combination of ciders, hard seltzers, light and malt brews. The michelada isn't half bad either! read more

We brought family from out of town here today to have brunch. It was about 11:15am and wanted to make sure we sat inside as it was already close to 90° out... my husband started to fan himself with the menu and then I started getting warm. I looked over at a table of women who had already received their meals and they were also fanning themselves. My son walked over to Memo's and promptly returned to let us know the AC was on high there. I was disappointed to say the least but it probably saved us from having way too many beers on a hot day. When I heard Commonwealth was coming to town I was excited! They have another location in downtown Modesto that's a downtown staple. Was greeted by Adam - super friendly and energetic bartender Ordered a Bonanza burger - bbq, bacon, onion rings, cheddar cheese, and jalapeños. Burger was the perfect size and tasted fresh. Fries were also fresh. Also ordered some garlic Buffalo wings. Again, great! They have just the right amount of garlic where it's not too much. Ranch dipping sauce (made in house) also fantastic! Was looking for lunch and ended up at Commonwealth. Had been wanting to try it out. If you like beers on top and pub style food, this place is for you. This restaurant is the kind you order at the counter and take a number to your table and they bring it out. 2pm on a Monday, it wasn't very busy at all. The menu is on the smaller side, in my opinion. I ended up choosing thr craft taco plate, where you choose any 3 out of 6 taco offerings and get a side of fries. My husband ordered the mack sandwich, also with fries. For my tacos, I chose the Tika, coconut curry and the Bahn mi. All 3 of them had a nice flavor. The coconut curry was really authentic tasting. I think my favorite was the Bahn mi. It's made with pulled pork, where the other 2 were both chicken. The fries are thin and crispy, perfectly salted and addicting! The server brought out the wrong sandwich at first, but quickly went and retrieved the correct plate. The Mack is on a big cheese biscuit, with a hunk of fried chicken. Unfortunately, the pickles were super vinegary (they were still tasty) but that flavor seemed to consume most of the sandwich. The brine soaked into the biscuit, so you really taste it. Also, the amount of mustard was lacking. My husband looooooves mustard and it was whole grain and could only see a few grains here and there. I chose to get a beer on tap. The girl at the front suggested a few when I asked and let me sample them. I went for the apical dominance, which has a nice happy flavor, without being too overpowering. A downside...if you're not a beer drinker and come to have some grub with a friend, there's not many options for you. My husband didn't want a beer, so his options were coke, sprite, iced tea or lemonade. He opted for iced tea, but it's unsweetened and sugar doesn't dissolve in cold tea. Meh...beer list was pretty good. Lots of variety, but much less than what their website says. The guy who worked there, not sure of his name, dark hair with bleach in it, maybe he was having a bad day. Not rude, but seemed annoyed. The lady was super nice and helpful. We got in line and grabbed menus. The guy at the register asked if we were ready, we weren't so I asked if we could sit down. He said we could and said it was open seating. Maybe I misunderstood, but I asked if we could sit and have our order taken. I thought he said yes. We sat down and waited for about 15 minutes. Nobody came, so we went back to the register and ordered. This is fine, but maybe have a sign that explains this. I watched as other people sat down like us and waited for service. My wife and I both got burgers with garlic fries. The fries were pretty good. The burgers weren't bad, but we didn't get to choose how we wanted them cooked. They came out well done and were dry. At approximately 2:00 pm we walked in the door and were greeted by a female server who continued to just walk past us and said have a seat. We sat at the table for approximately 15 minutes. ( the restaurant was only about a 1/4 full) The female server came out from the back and spoke with a seated customer at the counter. The male server stood at the counter area looking at his phone not doing anything. He did glance at us three times but did not move in our direction. I'm a regular at this place usually only come in for drinks but from time to time I like to get food but unfortunately they can never get that part right. I always order chicken and waffles and every time something is missing once my chicken was missing. Although the food doesn't hit the service is amazing everyone who works in the front does a great job at cleaning the area and making sure we have everything we need. the most insane and unhinged interaction i have ever had with a MANAGER of an establishment. typically it's the entry level employees, but this time it was the person in charge which is so embarrassing and funny. we had placed an order for a sandwich. my bf swears he said fried. manager swears he said grilled. whatever. all i asked for, very respectfully, was to get it fixed. the server takes my plate (passive aggressively but whatever) and then 2 minutes later the manager comes out huffing and puffing, all red in the face like she ran 5 miles. she was insisting and swearing up and down that my bf ordered it grilled and that she can replace it but we ABSOLUTELY had to know that he ordered it wrong. when i explained to her i wasn't upset about the food but more upset about her approach and tone she started to moan and groan about how it's been a long day and it's just a terrible day( take a break next time???). My bf and i tried talking to her and she kept telling us she's too busy to stand there and talk and i looked at her like ????? like girl u at work... where your job is to serve ... and talk..... HUH? anyways the whole experience felt like a fever dream. i'm never going back and i wouldn't really recommend this place to anyone. the food looked good but it's never worth eating your food somewhere when u know it's a norm to speak to your customers like that especially since the manager sets the tone for all the other employees. They did horrible with service and ignored us for an hour. I understand it was a bit packed but they served tables that were there after us. We had to ask where our order was and then they decided to tell us it was almost out when they could have told us a while ago that the kitchen is busy and that it'll take 10-15 more minutes before the food arrived but nothing. They also were rude and ignored us for most of the time. I get it you order ur own food but I still thought they went from table to table to check on their customers but I guess not? What's the point of the tip if they aren't actually doing anything but handing out the food? I just wish that they provided more than just serving and actually connected and spoke to the customers instead of standing behind the counter.
