My order: Ice tea with lemon. Denver omelette, country potatoes and a biscuit and gravy. ICE TEA: 1/10. No tea flavor at all and I think the lemon gave the water a bad taste, I stopped drinking it. They gladly replaced it with a delicious Pepsi(8/10). They also asked how I think they could fix the tea and will try using more tea bags next time. Just for their courtesy and cooperation, I will up their score by a point for their tea, from a zero to a one. DENVER OMELETTE: 9/10. Good flavor, good ingredients, was a bit small. Overall, a delicious omelette. COUNTRY POTATOES: 8/10. Good flavor. I enjoyed the seasoning they placed on the potatoes, though it was getting a bit strong the more I ate, still delicious though! BISCUIT AND GRAVY: 7/10. Biscuit was soft and tasted buttery. Gravy was creamy and hot, but could use a bit more flavor. I still enjoyed it, however. Rare weekday morning off and the Hubbs and I were excited to give this place a try. I had gotten a referral from a coworker and the Hubbs had seen social media posts about the den. I've been stalling on doing a review because I felt that the day that we went must've been an odd day off or when the regular cook wasn't there. When we arrived, there was only one other couple at the restaurants and only a couple came during the time that we were there. It was definitely a slow day or time. Since we were the only folks there ordering I asked for my hashbrowns to be crispy, and the Hubbs asked for no eggs and the server offered potatoes, which was very nice to offer the swap. Unfortunately, rather than just my hashbrowns being crispy, my eggs were well overdone as well as my pancakes. This left my pancakes, dry and flat rather than moist and fluffy and my eggs rubbery. I asked for salsa to help the overcooked eggs out, but they were still not good. The Hubbs enjoyed his breakfast, but said his gravy had no sausage flavor and were bland. He added pepper and ended up also sprinkling some hot sauce on them. Coffee is Farmers Brothers and tasted more like hot water with a hint of coffee flavor. I feel bad giving this review because the folks there were extremely nice and accommodating with our special requests. This review is based on my experience on 7/25/26. I ordered the kids meal exactly as the menu states: "Chicken Nuggets or Strips and Fries." I specifically ordered chicken nuggets and fries, but when my food came out, it was chicken strips instead. I spoke with my server, and she apologized, explaining it was her first day back after several years and that she didn't realize they no longer had chicken nuggets. I completely understand that mistakes happen. My issue is that no one let me know beforehand or asked if chicken strips were okay before making the substitution. I ordered nuggets because they're much softer than strips. The strips were too crunchy and hard for my 4-year old to chew. After trying to make it work I politely asked if I could switch his meal to pancakes instead. While I was talking with my server, another server jumped into the conversation and immediately told me I have to pay for both meals if I switched. She brought it up twice. At no point did I ever say I wasn't willing to pay. I was simply trying to switch to something my son could actually eat because the item I ordered wasn't available. After she mentioned it a second time, I told her that if I had to pay for both, I would, but I asked her to please take the chicken strips because we weren't going to eat them. What bothered me wasn't the cost it was the way the situation was handled. I felt like the focus was on making sure I paid instead of understanding why I was asking to switch the meal in the first place. In the end, my original server apologized again and ultimately didn't charge me for the chicken strips, and I appreciated that. I just wish the other server had handled the situation differently. A simple apology or a little understanding would have gone a long way. I have been here before and decided to stop in for brunch again, but after this experience, I honestly regret it. As a local, after that experience I left feeling unwelcome, and I will be choosing to dine somewhere else in the future. (When I walked in, sat down everything was okay) But it doesn't take away of the lack of the other server that i mentioned about above. Hubby and I had the day off and want to have spend the day together and we start with a delicious breakfast, he always tells me about this place with the previous owner, and after a few yelp's review we decided to go As soon we enter we were greeted for the most kindest waitress , she was the only one and she was kind and take the time to explain me about things in the menu , later a Dad and his little daughter enter to the restaurant and omg she give the best customer service to the little one , , she was taking the order directly from her , giving option like a custom plate, if you planing to take your little ones to breakfast this is the place When we were ready , hubby order famous Chile Verde Omelet and I was craving the chicken fried steak with eggs, both dishes came with an option of pancakes . The chile verde omelet was delicious, salsa is freshly made at the restaurant, and that make a big difference my fried chicken was delicious hash brown were so good everything was really fresh but... the pancakes were the best! The food was mediocre at best. The toast came out first it was cold and the butter was not melted. Had to ask for jam. Worst of all the bread was stale. I had the Meat lovers omelette made with three parakeet eggs or at least small chicken eggs. There was about 2 oz of meat and an once of cheese. The smallest omelette I have ever seen in a restaurant. I had been here with a friend a few months ago and knew they did not give a fair portion of hash browns so I ordered a second order. When my plate arrived it looked like a regular order despite being double. $8 for hash browns. IHOP is $3.59. The bill was $42.70 with tea and a $5 tip. Now most restaurants work on about 30% food costs. That's based on normal portions. Ok I'll give them that . Ok, we found this place on instagram and it looked soo good!! We made the 35min drive out and couldn't have been more disappointed!! My kid ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and when it came to the table, it was toast and 3 slices of unmelted cheese. We sent it back as our waitress was pretty embarrassed. My son got an omelette and it was missing the potatoes and it was served in a cereal bowl! For $17 I was shocked! My husband got a chili cheese burger and he said it tasted like canned or old chili. I got a regular cheese burger and onion rings and it was TERRIBLE! The burger was burnt and my onion rings were so oily and gross! They disintegrated when you bit into them! So I pass by this place whenever I go to Turlock from Patterson.. Today was finally the day that we stopped for breakfast. This restaurant looks super small from the outside but is rather big on the inside. Farm theme with the perfect decorations on the walls. The staff is super friendly and can handle a crowd. Since the restaurant is only open from 6am to 2 pm, it is ALWAYS busy. Today hubby and O brought the kids so the meals were, French toast and chicken, a bacon cheeseburger, a Denver omelette, a California omelette and a chili verde omelette. Have driven past this place many times and finally stopped by for breakfast. It has a cute exterior. Parking is kind of unique for the location. Interior is farming themed and feels very homey. Staff is super friendly as well. I had the Chile Verde omelet and OMG heaven. I think I've found my new favorite breakfast place. The menu has a lot of options, surprisingly more options than I expected for a little middle of the sticks restaurant. If I had to complain about the food, the complaint would be they didn't bring jam out with my toast, and I didn't order two of the Chile Verde omelet (it was that good). Before we left we told the waitress so they are aware of the mistake. She didn't apologize. She just told us that they cook their prime rib differently.Which i'm sorry that is not the case. Having no customers on a Saturday morning should have been my first warning. The breakfast menu was very basic, with nothing particularly noteworthy or impressive. My meal was served before my husband's, which should not have happened, especially considering we were the only customers at the time. Eggs need to be enjoyed warm, and serving them at different times only diminishes the experience. Additionally, the breakfast potatoes were green--an obvious sign they were not fresh. Green potatoes can contain toxins, and this is especially concerning as I am recovering from a stomach infection. Serving such food reflects poor judgment and a lack of attention to food safety standards. Overall, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. We would have been better off preparing breakfast at home. I would not recommend this restaurant and do not plan to return. read more

Stopped in to try for the first time. First off, there is ZERO parking at the business itself. We were confused as to where you are to park. You will need to park across the street on crows landing and cross over- just keep in mind. For a small place the tables were comfortable and spaced out well. Service is excellent and attentive. I ordered the chili verde omelette. Flavor was excellent and eggs were not overcooked which was great. The potatoes also were really good! The pancakes were just ok. I found the food portion to be smaller than other locations I frequent and also a few dollars more. My husband had the chicken fried steak and said it was "just ok." For an additional $4 we opted to get the biscuit and gravy. The biscuit was very dry, didn't taste fresh-made that day and didn't have any flavor. The gravy was also very plain and bland. Sad we paid $4 more for it. The coffee tasted as if it was made with salt water! All at the table agreed. An hour later and I still have the salty taste in my mouth. I'm very perplexed why on earth... each coffee refill produced the same salty flavor. After mixed review at the table, and more of us leaning towards "just ok" and salty coffee, I'm afraid we won't be back. The price didn't justify the food/coffee we received. read more

First, let me declare a bias at the outset for little places like this one, most often family run. We are losing them in a business environment that doesn't get any easier, and we sorely need that personal attention, the opportunities these businesses give people to work, socialize and enjoy themselves in a place where their patronage is truly appreciated. The Farmer's Den provides all of that and has good food to boot. The Farmer's Den is located at the corner of Crow's Landing and West Main, south of Modesto, west of Turlock. The parking can be challenging as road improvements over the years have taken much of the available space. My suggestion, take a good look around and park where you can. We got lucky, there was a space just to the left of the front door. Our visit was on 10-9-2024, when my stepmother and I were returning from visiting my Father's grave at the nearby veteran's cemetery. (It was four years since his passing.) We were greeting immediately upon entering, directed to choose our table from the several that were well kept and ready to go. Our waitress took our drink orders and left the menus promptly. While we waited, we both noticed how well decorated and kept the place was, (we both have lived in the region all of our lives and had never stopped by). The food came promptly, was well portioned. Mine, a chef's salad didn't have the mountain of lettuce under the meat and cheese you usually see at some restaurants, giving the impression that you are getting more (well you are, but I suspect most folks eat the proteins and leave much of the lettuce). The dish was fresh and flavorful. The ice tea seemed brewed and was spot on. My stepmother ordered a large breakfast with the intention of taking what she didn't finish home with her, which she did. She seemed to be satisfied with her meal. All around, full points, and I know that I will be stopping by with my wife on a future trip through here. read more

I'm giving it 4 stars because the breakfast here is really good. My friend and I went to dinner on Thursday night for the Prime Rib. Our Waitress was really nice and attentive. Unfortunately we got Rib Eyes instead of Prime Rib. We should have said something right away. But it was starting to get busy and so we just ate them. I like Rib Eye but both of ours were full of silver skin and a lot of fat. My friend gave up and brought hers home. I wrestled with mine and what I finally got was tasty, but more than half I tossed into my salad bowl. My dog enjoyed the rest of my friend's steak after I put it in my mini chopper. I'm really bummed because I had heard the Prime Rib was really good. read more

My wife's steak came out rare when she ordered medium. We politely asked for a new plate, but instead, they recooked the same steak until it was burnt and well-done. When we tried to explain, the waitress got defensive and argumentative, which made the situation uncomfortable. It's disappointing because we really liked this place the first time and appreciate how hard the staff works, but this experience completely changed our view. Terrible service from Miranda, we came here because I had been craving their sausage and traveled 30 min, unfortunately we had a horrible experience from our waitress Miranda, who did not greet us from the beginning, did not allow us to substitute anything from our order. When our food was brought to the table she did not bother to make sure all our food was there, I then noticed my husband never got his pancakes, my husband wanted to see if she even bothered to noticed or check on us, which she did not. Originally I had order an ice tea, but it tasted funky so I asked to swap it out for a Pepsi, and she still charged us for the ice tea and the Pepsi. In the end when we asked for our tab we let her know that we never got our pancakes, and instead of apologizing or try to make it right she huffed and puffed and went to yell at the cooks, instead of taking accountability for herself as she should have taken the time to make sure all our food was on the table, but was apparently overwhelmed with the 3 tables she had. No straws, asked for sweet and low she literally brought 2 packets, well I need 2 for coffee, 2 for tea and 2 for husbands coffee. I ordered bacon and eggs with biscuits and gravy. I ordered my eggs over medium and crisp bacon. I received perfectly cooked eggs with floppy undercooked bacon. I asked for hot sauce to add to my biscuits and eggs and was told they don't offer hot sauce. They offer house made salsa that is icy cold and cooled my eggs and biscuits way too much and it didn't complement the gravy. It is perfect for Mexican food like burritos or omelets. The place was clean but the little details of not offering real hot sauce or checking that the food is made to order before serving it to me for $20 a plate is a turn off.
