Wow! Don't know how we missed this place! Incredible staff and food! New favorite breakfast place in Modesto!

One of my new favorite places for breakfast & brunch. We waited over an hour in line and all worth the wait, next time I'll make reservations. I been wanting to try this place for a long time. I can't believe it took me this long to try them out. I was very pleased from start to finish. The service was excellent, the food was amazing and I was ultra impressed with the waitress explaining we can get gravy made with no pork and also for next time to ask for our home fried potatoes to also be cooked in non pork fat. ( I told her We don't eat pork ) It is so hard to find a place that offers no pork in their gravy. They went the extra mile to make us special non pork gravy on the spot, amazing. Also they fried our home fried potatoes in non pork oil, thats the extra extra mile of care and service and attending to a customers needs, I was completely satisfied. I cant wait to try more of the menu. Everything we ordered was good. The cinnamon bun was so good, I would go there just for that alone, yummy and fresh and moist and soft and so much frosting and yes I said and alot, AND? Haha Pro tip: if you dont eat pork ask for them to cook your potatoes in non pork oil and if you want gravy ask them to make non pork gravy. You have to mention it to your server, dont forget. I took my wife here for the first time and ended up leaving we waited for a server for more than 15 min and watched other people that came in after us get asked for their drinks and order. This is a hangout for me and my work friends! They sale mimosas but you can just ask for the bottle and they will bring you juice on the side! This place is always pippin but the service is always great and friendly! The timing for your food is great as well. The food is pretty good. Although I have to say I did not care for the biscuit gravy the last time I came in it was sweet for some reason so that kinda through me off. I did not bring it up or complain because It was and sometimes food is just weird like that! But definitely give it a try def a fav breakfast spot of mine! read more

Came to the Biscuit Basket after being told Saucin' It Up Chicken was having kitchen problems. On a Saturday afternoon, this place was still poppin' and we ended up waiting an additional 20 min for a table. The inside is spacious with tall ceilings and huge industrial fans overhead. The room is split into two parts (I think they took over the business next door and converted it to more tables). With all this square footage, they really crammed a lot of tables together. I felt like some center tables were bumped right next to another. The SO and I ordered: - Millionaire bacon burger sub fries for onion rings - the burger was good, but the onion rings were top-tier. - Cobb salad - SO said there were some weird pieces of lettuce and he couldn't finish it all. - Side of biscuits w gravy - the biscuits were just... fine? Not fluffy, but a little buttery. I wasn't wowed by it. The gravy had a good peppery taste, but also wasn't my personal favorite. We were sat at a teeny tiny table where a condiment basket took up like 20% of the room. It definitely forced us to make some Tetris moves when our food and water were all on the table. Eventually, the SO knocked his water over and spilled it all over. Either get bigger tables or make the condiment basket smaller, can't have both. Service was fine. Nothing out of the ordinary. Overall, the SO and I were good to try this once. If your onion rings stood out more than the biscuits, should probably change the name to the Onion Ring Basket (or Condiment Basket) :P read more

Saw the line decided to go ahead and wait the 30 minutes they had water and coffee outside while you wait. This place is really good, we've been a couple times now and we're always happy with what we order. Only negative is both times we've gone I ordered the biscuit basket and they didn't bring it. First time trying this place that I've heard coworkers have recommended me to try. Came here on a Saturday morning and the place was busy and had a 15 minute wait. We asked the waitress her recommendations and she suggests their biscuit (2 for $6.99) and green chilaquiles which is a Mexican style breakfast. So the biscuit- it was okay and there were a lot of jellies and jams provided. I usually get biscuits for free in other restaurants so I don't think it was worth paying for it. Nothing special. 3 stars The Green chilaquiles- we decided to share a plate, added avocado. Item was $17.99, $2.25 added for splitting a plate... and $2 for avocado. Not sure how I feel about adding a charge for sharing a plate. Breakfast was fine. I'd probably go for a traditional American breakfast in the future. So for me, it was a 3 star. This is the second time we've visited. Wait times are typically long, especially on a weekend but it's well worth it! Highly recommend trying the biscuits with whipped butter and homemade strawberry jam. Staff is incredibly attentive and helpful. I definitely need to come back to try their lunch items. read more

First time ... love the set up, it's very spacious and it has counter sitting in the back. It was very busy , there were people waiting outside to get seated and there really wasn't much parking in the front . But that's how busy the area was. I had the fried steak , fries and scrambled eggs. It also came with a biscuit. The star on the plate was definitely the biscuit. I Will return just to eat biscuits next time! The complimentary coffee out front is such a nice touch and instantly sets the tone. We walked in with a party of 8 while visiting, fully expecting a long wait (they told us up to 50 minutes), but we were pleasantly surprised and seated in about 20 minutes instead! Huge win. Our server was great -- helpful, patient, and super friendly. Once seated, the food came out pretty quickly too. I ordered the chilaquiles, and they were delicious -- the chips stayed crunchy (not soggy at all!), and the green sauce had just the right kick. My vanilla latte was also pretty delicious. My niece ordered the breakfast burrito and gave it a 10/10, literally excited with every bite. My husband really enjoyed his country fried steak with biscuit and gravy. The only miss for our table was the cinnamon roll -- my nephew felt the texture was a bit off. Now we totally get why this place is always packed. We had been wanting to visit for awhile, but every time we stopped by there was a wait - get there early especially on weekends! So we stopped in on a random weekday off and OMG... this spot is amazing!! We never have found it if it wasn't for Yelp since it's not in an area I'd ever think to visit for breakfast. We got the fancy bacon, biscuits and gravy, a cowboy omelette, and a cinnamon roll: The cinnamon roll is the second best cinnamon roll I've ever had!!! (Hard to beat Moss Rose in Oakdale) It's huge and comes out warm with a huge amount of not-too-sweet frosting. Plenty to share between two people. The biscuits are the best I've ever had! Super flakey, buttery, and smothered in delicious sausage gravy. I went with the a la carte side option of 2 biscuits and gravy but they do have a biscuit plate that also includes eggs and sides. My boyfriend got the omelette and it filled the plate - it also included SO many home fry potatoes that were incredible. They weren't crispy but were super flavorful and buttery. We got the billionaire bacon as a starter and that was the only thing that left us underwhelmed. For $15, you get 4 slices of bacon. Yes, it's thicker bacon and the flavors are good, but I wish it had been crispier and was a little more flavorful. (My dad used to make a similar recipe baked in the oven so my comparison is to that) There was lots of seating inside, a mixture of booths and tabletops and even seats at the bar looking towards the kitchen. Hey, you can't beat the friendliness of the staff and the nice atmosphere here. Very crowded but they still maintain a relaxed decorum. My toast was not toasted enough, and I asked for crispy potatoes and didn't get them. They were on the soft side which I don't care for. The Joe's Special, however, was very good. Let me start by saying, even though you'll see the crowd outside waiting for their table, be patient because the wait is QUICK! They provide water outside on a cute little cart while you wait! The inside of the restaurant seems very intimate and homey in the aspect of you having breakfast at someone's grandma's house. Very fitting for the theme! Down to the uniforms, I loved the style and simple decor the establishment was pushing. Their homemade biscuits and strawberry jam are truly the star dish here. Biscuits come out fresh, warm, fluffy, with a light crisp on the outside. The jam is sweetened to the perfect amount, you can truly tell there are no artificial flavors in this jam! Same with the cinnamon bun, you can taste the freshness and with the best gooey center. I'd say the only real disappointing dish was the billionaires bacon, in my personal opinion I would have liked more seasoning/spice/black pepper added to enhance the flavor. Same with the spicy chicken sandwich, there was zero spice present. Still a delicious sandwich although, just not the spice level I was expecting. But if you're someone who's sensitive to spices or different flavor profiles, you'll be fine trying either of those dishes. Solely my own opinion, I was expecting more from them. We were in Modesto looking for a good breakfast spot came across The Biscuit Basket. It was about a 25-35 min wait on a busy Saturday morning, but we didn't mind waiting. Once finally seated the place was super cute and I loved their plaid uniforms. Our waiter Adrian was super helpful he suggested the passion fruit mimosa it was really good. I ordered the chicken fried steak and my husband ordered the Cali cowboy omelette. The chicken fried steak was delicious and the biscuit was something I must try again. My husband enjoyed omelette but said the tri tip lacked seasoning. Overall I would suggest giving them a try and definitely get a biscuit! read more

This easily could have been a 5* Breakfast but a couple of errors caused the score to drop. We spent the night in Modesto after a show at the Gallo. First thing in the morning, of course, we needed breakfast! The ratings and comments at The Biscuit Basket made it a no brainer! It was amazing to see people waiting in front of the restaurant in an industrial area on a Saturday morning. We stepped in and put in our name, about a 30-to-35-minute wait. We had to check the timing. It was a 54-minute drive to pick up our dog from the kennel by noon, or we'd have to pay extra. It was going to be close but barring any traffic problems, we'd make it with about 30 minutes to spare. There was a cart outside of the restaurant with a self-service coffee urn, cups, lids, sugar and creamer. I got myself a 1/2-cup just to hold me over. We took the time to stroll around the building and that took up about 15 minutes. It was closer to 40 minutes before I received a phone call letting me know that our table was ready. That's a convenient system. Not having to worry about hearing your name being called is convenient. We walked in, announced our name and were taken to a booth. Menus were presented. We were asked if we'd like to start with drinks while we looked at the menu. I asked for a glass of Ice Water and she got a glass of Milk. Those came right away, and we place our breakfast orders after asking a couple of questions. I don't believe that our server ever told us his name but the name on our receipt is Adrian. He was friendly and personable throughout our interactions. She ordered Sausage and Eggs over Easy, Home Fries, Biscuit and Jam with a side of Billionaire Bacon. What was delivered was Sausage, Billionaire Bacon, Home Fries, Biscuit, Butter and Jam. She was quite happy with her food and was unable to finish everything. I ordered Chicken Fried Steak, Home Fries, Eggs over Easy and a Biscuit. I had no problem finishing my food plus a slice of her Billionaire Bacon. I found the Steak to be salty. It wasn't the gravy because I tasted that by itself. The biscuit was good but could have been fluffier. The food runner (it was not Adrian) who brought our food quickly called out our food and put our orders down and left. We then sat there and wondered how we were supposed to eat our breakfast without set-ups plus my wife was missing her Eggs. We caught the eye of another server who appeared to be working quite quickly and efficiently. She was young, blond and had her hair up in a small bun. We told her that we were missing the Eggs. She apologized and asked how we wanted them prepared. We told her and asked for a couple of set-ups as well. She brought us the set-ups and told us the Eggs would be out shortly. And then she delivered them. Later, Adrian came by to check on us and told us that he heard about the Egg error. It good that the team communicates so minor errors can be avoided on future orders. Overall, Adrian did a good job taking care of us except for the lack of set-ups. The food runner announced our food but was gone so quickly, he didn't even notice that we now had food with no set-ups. I also wonder if he compared the order to the ticket or was just announcing what was on the plates. Speed is important but so is attention to detail. The young lady who took care of the Eggs and set-ups for us was the Star of the Day. Amazing!!! Can I just say, as a Latina I love the diversity in the staff!! They are bilingual for those who don't speak English and are so kind. Waits may be long but the food is great. Clean environment, and the restrooms are very clean as well. I have tried this location twice, and on Mother's Day they even had complimentary iced and hot coffee outside for guests to enjoy. I think that was a GREAT gesture to show they are mindful of their customers patiently waiting. The BB is a fine place to stop in Modesto for breakfast, with a few caveats. Located in the heart of dealership row, one might not expect to find any sort of restaurant, let alone a breakfast/lunch spot but it's there! Their namesakes are tall and fluffy with just the right crunch of the crust. The CFS was wicked tender and barely needed the knife at all. My eggs on the eggs benny were poached perfectly. Service was prompt and personable and the food came up timely, especially considering the place was packed with wait-times around 45 minutes. But hey, on a beautiful Saturday, that's not really to be helped. Like I said, a few warts on the whole experience: not a ton of waiting space indoors which is where my party elected to wait as we were trying to keep an eye on the counter for two seats together as it is first come first served. My biggest gripe? It's loud as hell inside. If you are someone who is prone to overstimulation, maybe try this place out during their slower days (if they have them). Also, they turn those tables over quickly so this isn't a spot to have a chill, relaxing breakfast. On a busy day, you will wait longer than it takes you to eat breakfast, which I just don't love. First impressions the potatoes that they call "Home fries" were raw not cooked throughly. Maybe that's why our plates came out fast. Only 1 biscuit on the "Biscuit Plate" every where else I go to, you always get 2. And for the price of $16.99 seems a bit high for biscuits and gravy.
