I'm a little upset because I specifically asked the waitress to make sure no pork comes to our table in case it's in any of the original recipes. I ask that wherever I go because we don't eat pork and you never know what may have pork in it. My mom ordered the El Rancho Omlette. My mom asked for no bellpeppers, but right before that, I asked the waitress to make sure none of our orders have pork of any kind. NO PORK for the whole table. I didn't realize what my mom ordered, said round beef, then sausage in the description until I got home to do the yelp review and she didn't remember the name of what she ordered so I looked on my receipt to see the name so I can identify it in the pictures. I dislike it very much when people don't make it a priority to ensure people orders aren't 100% correct, especially when it comes to ingredients they specifically ask not to be included in their food. It is a religious reason and a personal reason we don't eat pork, and it just upsets me knowing it is in our bodies. I asked they waitress if you have a chicken sausage option, and she said no. I said, "What about turkey bacon sausage?" She said no. I said you really need to have other options for people other than pork. She said, "I know." Npt everyone eats pork. I couldn't have the chicken fried steak because the gravey has pork. Besides the highly upsetting experience of us being served pork and eating it even though I clearly asked for no pork. The good was ok, just ok. I got the crab omelet thinking it was going to be amazing because the description said real crab meat. But I actually didn't like it and wouldn't order it again if I went there. I asked for strawberries on my pancakes just like I asked for strawberries to be put on my nieces' french toast. But what I got was a few fresh strawberries, and they got a good-sized pile of whole semi smashed strawberries with the juice oozing on the plate. The price was the same. Why did they give me something different when I asked for the samething for all 3 of us. I'm not happy with that either. My order came with hasbrowns, and my niece ordered a side of hashbrowns, which was almost double what I got. I'm not happy with that either. $100 for 4 people breakfast is a little steep even with today's prices. I would have left no tip if I knew the mistake was made with the pork. I'm giving 2 stars and not 1 star only because the food was ok, not horrible. First and last time, I will be there because of the multiple issues. I was driving and making a delivery in Motown and hunger hit me something fierce. I'm not terribly familiar with the area so I looked to old faithful...Yelp. I scanned for a few minutes and came up with two places. My Garden Cafe was one and who cares about the other. I arrived peak bfast hours but was able to grab a seat at the counter. It was like entering a room of new oxygen. The hostess and wait staff were all smiles and very accommodating. I was given a menu, what a selection. I opted for a garden omelette w/ ham my version of a Denver omelette, hash browns and they had fried okra which is one of my favorites. The plates flew by they were loaded with breakfast goodness. My omelette came...oh boy what a treat. There were tons of veggies, hash browns were perfect, I like mine only lightly brown and okra...chefs kiss. I couldn't finish it all so had more for the next day. Then there was another layer of goodness...they didn't kill my pocket. My daughter and her friends went here today for brunch after finishing nursing school. They were expecting to have a great experience after this great accomplishments however the service was bad for these new nurses. First off they were not greeted, they were seated and not attended to as often as others. Other customers who walked in while their time there were greeted as soon as they walked in, the staff treated all others with more attention and were over the top friendly to them, offered refills, and their plates to be removed to make more space. My daughter and her friends were only visited by the waitress when taking the order and bringing the food out to them. They weren't even offered refills. These girls felt segregated and definitely felt the difference in the way they were treated. This sounds to me like racism played a factor in the service provided to these girls. My husband and I are very disappointed in this behavior by the staff, you shouldn't treat people different based on the color of their skin. Food was just ok. The food is fantastic here at the new restaurant on Coffee and Floyd. Waitresses are right on top of things. The bus person is also very attentive. We had a little problem with my neighbor's meal. We come to breakfast and my neighbor wanted to try the Chile Verde and it was not to her liking but Lisa the owner/manager did everything that she could to make this better for her. I got to take the Chile Verde home and my neighbor ordered another omlett. A nice brand new Denver omelet with tater tots and it was wonderful. Lisa goes well beyond making a customer feel wonderful. We've been here a few times. We ate here recently after not being here for a long time. We ordered the Mediterranean Omelette & the Enchiladas Omelette. We really liked it. We had the standard sides of tater tots and toast. We ordered OJ & Water. Food was great to say the least. The service is very kind, but sometimes they're inattentive. I don't want to fault them too hard b/c it can get busy, but it would have been nice if they checked back on us b/c we needed refills and extra napkins. My primary issue was the pricing. It was $50 for a breakfast of two (this included the tip of 15%). I don't know if it's inflation, California in general, or what, but it seems a bit high. Came here for lunch, but ordered breakfast! The food was hot and they prepared my egg white omelette with ham perfectly. I asked that it not be cooked in oil or butter and they were able to accommodate my request! My dining partner got the country omelette that had meat, hash browns, etc in side and then topped with gravy. He said his was good, but that the gravy lacked a little in flavor. I appreciated being able to eat inside like a normal person and the staff was quick with drink refills and getting our food to us quickly! Will definitely make this a new go-to spot! read more

This place was recommended by a friend to try. Today I decided to pay them a visit. It's a cute little restaurant but does need to be updated the ambiance of the place seemed dated and old. In regard to our food it was great. Also had a good amount of portions which is awesome, and at a good price. Everything tasted good and was prepared very fast. As for the service that was the hurting factor. When we showed up we sat down for a while before our server could introduce herself. After she took our order gave us our food she never came back to check on us. The next time we saw her was her dropping off the check. We had to ask another server to get our refills. Also while paying the server at the register was on her phone while we were imputing our info. Unprofessional. As for the food, I ordered the garden omelet with turkey & my fiance ordered the huevos rancheros. We both got the country potatoes with a short stack. Now for the country potatoes?? I wouldn't call those country potatoes. They were thinly sliced potatoes with onions?? Aren't country potatoes cubed or just cut up seasoned potatoes with onions and green peppers? But THESE? No. No no no lol. I wondered what their hash browns taste like. . Welp I didnt finish those either. My garden omelet was good tho. I got it with egg whites, which was a $2.50 up charge. My fiance said the huevos rancheros was alright. The pancakes were okay too. I'm giving 3 stars because of the service. They were fast, friendly & attentive. Absolute most expensive (for the type of food) and awful, unseasoned food that I have ever had. The coffee was good, but had a hard time getting the wait staff to refill my coffee. I was at a table w/ two other people and we were sat in the back of the restaurant at a table with a folding plastic chair (two of the three guests were in wheelchairs). The place is not ADA compliant in the least bit. But my main issue was my food. I had corned beef hash, eggs, cottage cheese and they also brought a biscuit and gravy (which came with the meal, but I didn't ask for). Nothing was seasoned; tasted like canned hash (actually canned is better), eggs we supposed to be "basted" but the were given to me over medium. The biscuits were extremely dry and there honestly wasn't enough gravy to even render a judgement. Service was good, but not excellent. Meal and coffee w/ tip was just over $25 for one person. Decided to try this place close by and boy do I regret it. I don't mind bad service, but bad service and bad food is a double NO! Upon walking in no one was in line it wasn't rush hour. There were many open tables. We weren't greeted and I'm looking at the lady in the front ringing ppl up and she never looked my way or awknowledged us. Which is fine, let me just order and get my food l. We sat down and ordered coffee. It was gross-Tasteless and watered down. So I ordered water, tasted like straight sink water. Welp, maybe the food will be good it's kinda hard to mess up a waffle. I ordered a chicken and waffle. Came with no sides. (Most places do) waffle was soggy.. ehh! Chicken was a frozen chicken tender probably from the frozen section at a grocery store. Yuk! So I ordered a side of potatoes. They came in slices. Breakfast was good, unfortunately the cook ruined the experience. My daughter ordered a plate and requested no onions. When she began eating she found onions in her omlette. When the server informed the cook that another omlette was needed without onions the cook was out right rude. He was being loud saying they weren't"t onions they were hashbrowns. Next was bacon and eggs for $12.59. The eggs over easy were cooked just right, and the bacon - 4 slices - was crispy and salty. I ordered the country potatoes that were thin sliced and fried with bell pepper and onion -- delicious! -- and the biscuits and gravy which were really good! We ordered an English muffin which is essential when eating eggs and were very happy to find they make their own jelly!! It was so good I bought ajar to take home. We went for breakfast, but the menu was full of non-breakfast choices that I look forward to trying like the grilled cheese on sour dough bread, fresh salads and sandwiches. But the sausage gravy is a high point on every item it's served with!) and positive energy from everyone in the restaurant.
