Wonderful service, delicious food! Even with a long line out the door, we found seating just fine and we were served our food promptly. Everything was super fresh and full of flavor, I loved the blueberry french toast casserole. It is flakey and crispy on top with a rich dense base, perfectly balanced textures. We saw people ordering this giant pancake and had to try it as well. It has a candy-like flavor to it like I've never had before, it is SO good! Thank you all so much for such friendly service! You all were working so hard in a rush and handled everything so well.
This is such a cute spot! I ordered a breakfast sandwich and the pancake. They only have the pancake on Friday's and Saturday's so we made sure to be there early on Saturday. I don't usually love pancakes but my gosh this was the best pancake I've had in a long time. It was soft and not dry at all. The maple butter was so indulgent and comforting. The breakfast sandwich was good as well but would like to try something different next time. The only part that's gives me a little anxiety is that you order first then find a table. Since it's very small, you may have to wait around to get a table. We had our dog with us so we waited outside until someone left. This type of system makes me nervous but that pancake was great so I'll be coming back for that.

Came here for brunch today, and despite the place being packed with a line out the door, the experience was great from start to finish. We only waited about 10 minutes in line to order. Michelle at the register was fantastic--super approachable, patient, and welcoming while taking our order. Just a heads-up for anyone planning a visit: indoor seating is very limited, so if you plan on dining in, be prepared that seats fill up fast. We opted to take our order to go and waited outside in the shaded patio area. Our drinks and muffin came out fast (around 5-10 minutes), and our food took exactly 30 minutes. What really stood out while waiting was the customer service. The owner/manager went above and beyond, checking in on everyone waiting outside, keeping us updated on our orders, and genuinely thanking us for our patience. The food and drinks did not disappoint (it's a 15 min drive home, but our food was still warm): Mocha Hazelnut Iced Latte & Iced Matcha Latte: Both drinks were smooth, well-crafted, and delicious. Thee P&H: Incredibly flavorful and a standout item. South x Southwest (with added bacon): They were sold out of biscuits for the day, so we swapped for sourdough. It was still hearty and packed with flavor, but now we definitely have an excuse to come back early to try the biscuits. H Street Block (French Toast): Fresh, perfectly sweet, and topped with delicious blueberries. Pastry: The poppy seeds and blueberry muffin was satisfying and paired great with our drinks. Between Michelle's awesome service at the front, the attentive manager, and the quality of the food and coffee, Lucille is well worth the wait. We'll definitely be back!
One of the best coffee's I have had in the area. The standard was perfect for the hot days, as an iced coffee. The biscuit was good as well, I substituted bacon in place of the sausage it was good. Place is a bit small and seating can be difficult.
First time trying Lucille, I absolutely loved the ambiance, service and the coffee was very good. Will be visiting again soon.
Found this spot to stop for breakfast and it was a great find! We were immediately greeted by two friendly staff. They have yummy pastries on display but the breakfast menu has tons of savory options. We ordered H Street Block which is a blueberry french toast casserole. It was the perfect size. It looks small, but it was very filling and just enough to get my day started. It's a bit pricey for the size but since that was the portion I wanted, I wasn't too disappointed. One of the workers mentioned they do have kids menu options, but they didn't have the printed kids menus available, so if you don't see them, just ask when you are ordering. The Champions Breakfast platter was a great choice for our kids to share. It was one of the better fruit bowls I've seen, with a variety of fresh berries and oranges. The place is pretty small inside, but we were there on a Thursday morning so it was no issue finding a parking spot or a table to sit. I appreciate how kid friendly they are, even bringing kid size water cups with lids, and there are even some children's books on the shelf in the back. Such a cute little spot, I would have never known about it if I wasn't looking on Yelp for breakfast places in this area.
The service was great, I ordered online, walked in and my order was ready to go. It's usually so busy, I avoid it because I don't have the time to wait during a 30 minute break. I ordered a regular coffee which was so fresh and perfect. My food, I ordered the Benny on a Bun, that's the wrong sandwich for a on the go morning. I didn't think to order the hollandaise on the side so my bread was totally soggy. The bacon was extremely salty. I'm not sure what brand it was but it was not good to me. I couldn't pick it up to eat it because I was driving. It was already soggy and wet to begin with, not the restaurants fault but I would say I would not order that for a togo order. It was not easy to eat, very messy and again, I didn't care for the bacon.
My wife has been here several times because she works in Modesto and I work in Stockton. So when we had a chance to go together to eat lunch here, we took advantage of it. This place has a lot of personality and very good food. Love the menu options. Everybody was very friendly in the service was great. The ambience was fun and decorated cute. FYI, it is very popular. Seating inside and outside was tough to come by. We got lucky and found a spot inside, but I could see how getting this to go would be an option. I'll be back.
***Update*** Since I work as an Uber driver (one who attended culinary school) I always find myself eating in unfamiliar locales. Modesto is NOT close to home for me. After discovering Lucille several years ago, I will now willingly take rides far from home, although the fares sometimes dry up in the Central Valley. I have been to Lucille twice by myself. I brought my Godmother once. I recommend Lucille to everyone who I drive when they tell me that they live in or near Modesto. Today I brought my boyfriend and my dog, who lives in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It was Saturday, super crowded and my dog was being super reactive with another dog across the way. It was super embarrassing and, although I am sure that it stressed out the staff, they were calm, kind and attentive. I was stressed and shrill, my dog was being a grade-A A-hole. I'm sorry Lucille! The beet salad at this place features fresh mint and I always get it. The chocolate cookie with flaky malden salt is very yummy. Their house coffee is very high quality and doesn't taste gross and burned. I didn't love my soup today. The bar was set pretty high with the carrot soup I had another time. Honestly, it was a small detail and this place is so much better than 90% of restaurants. They sent me another chocolate cookie. That was never necessary. I love you Lucille! Thanks for the extra care and the extra cookie! You really deserve a larger building because you are awesome!
This morning, I stopped by Lucille's because I was wanting to try their pancake that they only have available on Fridays and Saturdays. The pancake is so delicious and huge! I ordered The Trusty Steed and a biscuit and I had blueberry lemonade, soda and ice water to drink. The food here is always good. The service is very friendly. I live in San Francisco, but I'm from the Central Valley, so I pass by Modesto every few months when visiting my family. My friend from Modesto told me about this spot, and I immediately wanted to try it. I actually planned my drive around this pit stop, which was just a short detour off the 99. I ordered a biscuit with fried eggs and dear Lord, that biscuit was amazing, and so was the jam! The fried eggs were cooked perfectly and especially delicious with the hot sauces they had to offer. My brother got an egg sandwich on a brioche bun and he still can't stop talking about how good it was. He was particularly impressed with the brioche bun. We also got the blueberry french toast to go, which I didn't anticipate traveling very well, but it did and holy shit, it was fan-freaking-tastic when I ate it that evening. I can't even fathom how incredible it must be if eaten fresh. This place was so cute inside and clearly had an intentional aesthetic direction. There was a cute outdoor seating area in the front where I could have my dog with me, which is a huge plus. The service was top-notch and the food was ready lickety-split. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and attentive. I HIGHLY recommend this spot!!!

But looking at the menu, there were some really nice options. 2. Execution & Consistency (Service): 4 / 5 The service was nice. i dd like how the service works. They give you a number and bring your order to you. 3. Environmental Design (Vibe): 3.3 / 5 I thought the vibe was nice, but it was busy when I got here. There was hardly a place to sit, and it was a little loud. which is actually great for the business! recomend to come when it's less busy if you're planning to do work. most likely early in the morning or at noon. 4. Attention to Detail (The Little Things): 4 / 5 One thing I really liked was how they brought a full glass of water with my drink. There was also music playing, which I did like. It was just a little louder, but a great playlist! The place seemed really clean as well. I also saw high chairs for babies, and I have not seen them in the other cafes yet, which I think is awesome. 5. This was our first visit to Lucille, and I'm pretty sure it won't be our last. I arrived about 15 minutes before their lunch service officially began at 11:00 and threw them a little curve by asking if I could order lunch early. They rolled with it without hesitation, which I always appreciate. My wife was meeting me a little later, and they timed everything beautifully. The food was on the table only about five minutes before she arrived, and with warm sandwiches and soup involved, the timing mattered. Everything was just the right temperature when we sat down to eat. We both ordered the Uptown Gal--roast beef, giardiniera, Dijon aioli, arugula, and white cheddar on house focaccia. The flavors were spot on, and these are substantial sandwiches. In fact, next time we could probably share one. We also shared the jalapeño Parmesan artichoke dip, which was excellent. We enjoyed some there and brought the rest home. The soups didn't have the same opportunity--we polished those off pretty quickly. Very flavorful. The iced tea was clearly freshly brewed and quite strong, which I actually prefer because I can adjust it to taste. It came in a generously sized glass as well. Lucille is a small place, but they've made very good use of the space. The interior is attractive and has a slightly modern, new-age feel. There was a steady stream of people dining in and picking up orders, and it wouldn't take many more customers to fill the place. I also noticed a nice wine selection and an espresso machine. One other thing stood out: the employees seemed genuinely happy to be there. Lots of smiles and a pleasant atmosphere throughout our visit. Excellent food, generous portions, good timing, and a staff willing to accommodate a customer who showed up a little ahead of schedule. An easy five stars from us. read more

The service is ALWAYS amazing. On this day, I got a soup of the day and one of the sandwiches I can not remember the name of, nor did I take a picture. However it was DELICIOUS! It had roasted turkey, avocado, tomato and on a roll. The soup of the day was an Orzo soup. I wish it would have been hotter and more soup like, but it was STILL DELICIOUS. I do get kinda disappointed when I go in there because they have tea, but no lemonade and I'd love an Arnold Palmer... They should put that on their menu I did order the coffee cake. It was good, but I wish there was something more to it. It was a little dry. read more

It's been a while since I have been here, but I was reminded how much I love Lucille! It is such a charming spot with so much attention to detail. The service goes above and beyond! Everyone has a great big smile on their face and is so friendly! Once again, the coffee hit the spot, and the food was delightful. Their portions are huge! My boys tried their blueberry "soda" which was a hit. It was so refreshing! We spoke to the owner and found out the meaning behind the name, and it was a very sweet story. Lucille is named after her husband's grandmother. P.S. the biscuits and raspberry jam is to die for!! read more

I loved the ambiance of this brunch place. It is a pay at counter and seat yourself type of restaurant but the system works well and the staff is very helpful about moving tables around to accommodate your party. The recommended special this weekend was a fermented pancake with cinnamon butter and malt maple syrup that paired so well with our benny on brioche buns. Great portion sizes and super friendly staff. read more

My daughter wanted to try out this wonderful restaurant after looking at some of their blueberry French toast. I am glad we gave it a try. Everything we had was delicious. I had the early bird sandwich and the bread was sensational, very friendly for this lent season that's coming up. Will definitely be getting that again. My husband had their champion breakfast and he added on the cajon potatoes and that entire combo was amazing. We all tried the potatoes which were fantastic, they were herb heavy in the best possible way, not salty but were packed with flavor. The coffee was great. The people there were very nice and attentive. I highly recommend this establishment, it's small but very much worth the trip. read more
Had a nice breakfast with my mom here on a Monday morning. Found street parking right out front and was greeted kindly by the staff. We both got a South x Southwest breakfast sandwich. Mine was kind of falling apart as soon as it was put down so I used a knife and fork. It was pretty tasty! We were also provided with hot sauce for an extra kick of spice. This is a really cute spot with a casual feel. Perfect place to catch up with a friend over coffee. I'd be interested in coming back to try more from Lucille's. read more

Latte with homemade cinnamon syrup was delicious and strong. Early bird breakfast sandwich on focaccia bread with over easy egg add was on point. Service with smile here is a permanent treat. You have to wait for a nice spot though to sit down. They have books as well. read more

Best sandwich I've had in a long time. I called it in and had to wait about 10 min - it was busy during the lunch hour. But staff were all friendly, everyone acknowledged customers that walked thru the door and everyone was hustling around to get orders out. I've worked downtown for about 4 years and have never gotten food here. I'll definitely be back - absolutely delicious! read more
We found this little jewel of a breakfast/ lunch place . Small but very cute and airy . We ordered our Bennie Sandwich open faced . A order of Cajun Potatoes, Coffee and a OJ at the counter . They give you a Number and serve it at your table . Or you can get to go . The bread the sandwich was on, was so soft and fresh. Eggs pouched perfectly. Since we had sandwiches open faced. I think I would ask for more hollandaise on the side next time . The potatoes were nicely seasoned and crunch - center nice and moist. Nice fresh Coffee . YUM DUDE. My bf had the blt, i had the buttermilk biscuit with homemade jam, and both were absolutely lovely! It's a small shop, and was very busy, so we came back after the lunch rush. This is such a cute place! The food was amazing! We ordered the Champion Breakfast platter with over medium eggs, sausage and sourdough bread (5/5), and another champion breakfast with over easy eggs, bacon and wheat bread (5/5). Yum! For bevs, we ordered a London fog with a shot of espresso (5/5) and a hot Carmel latte (5/5). Perfect! The service was good. It's a BUSY place, so a little challenging to find a seat. You place your order at the register and are given a number. When your order is ready they bring your food and drinks to the table. Overall, great food & super cute place! It's been a few months since we came but today on an overcast Monday morning we decided to pop in. They were busy but service was excellent. They messed up on my wife's request for no avocado on her fresh and fresh and quickly made her another one which she loved. A few seconds later they brought us a complimentary coffee cake which was delicious. I had the OMG BEC and what I believe to be the butter spray on top of the brioche bun is just decadent! Cajun potatoes have to be the best breakfast potatoes ever, even better than the ones I make, and mine are bomb!! I have to figure out how they make these.... Crispy, flavorful and soft inside, just perfect. Had a latte and wife had their drip coffee. Simple and delicious. read more

I'm obsessed with this place ever since my friend took me here I am always craving it now! I have had the breakfast sandwich, the south x southwest and the BLT and let me tell you that BLT is like no other BLT you will EVER have! You absolutely will not catch me ordering a BLT ever except at Lucille. This is absolutely the BEST BLT you will ever eat. Their standard ice latte is also the latte of my dreams it is sooo good I just wish they made a bigger size I swear I could drink at least 2! This place is great smaller very cosy and cute atmosphere with first come first serve indoor & outdoor seating. You order at the front counter and your food is delivered to your seat. The staff is warm, welcoming and friendly. I ordered a Freshy fresh breakfast sandwich and added over easy eggs and bacon and a large iced vanilla latte. They were both great, esthetically and Nom nommy (delicious) lol, the different flavors in the sandwich were refreshing and different which made it really standout. I sat at the bar, the wait wasn't long at all. And before I left I ordered a large dirty pink chai lattee to go. Also amazing The mixed vintage plates are adorable and they also have a great wine selection to grab on the way out. Felt like fall a bit in Modesto even though it was 75 degrees. Though downtown is not much to look at there are way too many bail bonds within the same block. The food is amazing and so is the service. Yes it's pricy, but what isn't now? It's a nice treat you can give yourself every now and then. The restaurant is certainly a delicious treat to enjoy. read more
