What they call a club sandwich. It's really a grilled chicken burger. - A grilled chicken burger with fresh lettuce, tomato slices, and a toasted bun is served on a metal tray. French fries are placed beside the burger, with some ketchup visible. In the background, there are glasses of dark soda, a second burger, and other dining items on a wooden table in a casual restaurant setting.

Another pretty good sandwich shop downtown Modesto. I'm a big fan of indoor/ outdoor seating and I also really appreciate the open windows from the patio to inside the restaurant. The service is fine. Not particularly quick but the person who took our order was cool. I have some beef with the menu. I ordered a club sandwich (google a club sandwich - it's a triple decker sandwich, cut into triangles) they brought me a grilled chicken burger, that is their version of a club. I admit it was delicious but not what I ordered. We also like the fries, dislike the potato chips, and appreciate the napkins at the table. We've been here a few times before a Gallo show and will be back again.

Spicy Chicken sandwich and chips - A tray holds two sandwiches made with hoagie rolls, filled with meats and toppings, accompanied by a large portion of potato chips and a small metal container of dipping sauce. The setting appears to be a casual dining restaurant with a wooden table and additional food in the background.

Came for St pattys day. They had a few food specials with corned beef including a patty melt. Unfortunately, though they do not or did not have any happy hour specials. Got the M80 sandwich and my friend got the patty melt with corned beef and sauerkraut in it. My sandwich had good flavor and ok amount of filling. My friend enjoyed his sandwich as well. The fries were crispy and the house made chips I got were kinda like lays. I was hoping for a thicker kettle chip and was disappointed. They also had a decent selection of beers available and it was a nice casual atmosphere.

Cauliflower Tacos. - A metal tray contains French fries, two tacos topped with vegetables and sauce, and a small cup of dipping sauce, placed on a wooden table. Two glasses of water and a glass of yellow beverage are also visible, with sunlight casting shadows on the table. The setting appears to be a casual dining restaurant.

Looooooove their Caesar Salad! Idk what it is but sometimes I just have a craving for a Commonwealth Caesar Salad - their croutons are made in house. YUMS! I've been coming here for years & always find my way back. The staff is always so friendly & accommodating. There is a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating has some community tables where more than one group can sit or a giant group can sit. The menu is on the wall along with the list of beers behind the counter - the beer selection is always good - something for everyone. I prefer ciders which they tend to have at least 2 options. You order at the counter and they had you your beverage & a number - you seat yourself. The wait on your food varies on how busy they are or how backed up the kitchen is. Each time, the person taking our order gives us a heads up to set the expectation. I always order the Craft Taco Plate - it comes with 3 tacos of your choice. I substitute the meat for the crispy cauliflower option - HIGHLY RECOMMEND for your vegetarians. As for flavoring, this is how I would rank 'em (those that I have tried): Coconut Curry - Soooooo good esp if you like curry. The flavor is on point! Banh Mi - The ultimate Asian flavor, so yums! Po' Boy - The sauce is different, a good different. Something to call out, when it gets later in the day - they tend to run out of crispy cauliflower (it's just that good). One of our good 'ol reliable spots we always seem to find ourselves at.

Classic smashburger on bottom. Chicken sandwich thing on top. Cauliflower wings on the side - The image shows two trays of food on a wooden table in a restaurant. Each tray contains a burger with fries and a small cup of dipping sauce. One burger has a bun with a toothpick, and the other burger is partially visible. A small plate of chicken wings garnished with herbs is also present. There are two drinks: one appears to be orange juice or a similar beverage in a wine glass, and the other is a clear drink in a glass. The table surface is wooden, and part of a person's arm and wristwatch are visible.

Wooow. It's been ages I've been to Commonwealth. My go-to casual/hip spot in downtown Modesto is usually Churchkeys but they had some sort of plumbing problem that apparently we couldn't be seated there. Strange but I mean it all worked out. I was there last week. Food was amazing. I tried a smashburger and it was a tasty burger. Meat was nicely cooked. My partner got some sort of chicken sandwich (I forgot the name sorry) and he said he enjoyed his a lot. The cauliflower wings are freaking huge!! Super tasty too. They also have a spiked Tampico drink and that too was good. I came on a Friday night. Yes it was busy and noise level was moderate. The only thing that was short a star was my fries were overcooked, and I'm not sure why but the ketchup tasted weird to me. The ranch is great though.

The photo depicts the interior of a bar with a brick wall background. A TV mounted on the wall shows a woman, and a menu board with colorful text lists drink options. The bar counter has glasses, bottles, a hand sanitizer, and a small sign indicating delivery via DoorDash. Overhead lighting includes hanging pendant lights, and the ceiling has recessed lights and an air vent. The setting appears casual with a focus on beverages and service.

The bacon blue cheese burger is yummy, fried cauliflower bites are a must! Great beer and wine, and Julia had great and friendly customer service!

Flight of deliciousness! - A beer flight with five small glasses of beer, each with different colors ranging from pale yellow to dark amber, is placed on a wooden paddle on a table at Commonwealth in Modesto, CA. The paddle has labels indicating different flavors or styles. In the background, there are condiment bottles, napkins, and a person raising their hand, with restaurant seating and a window visible. The setting appears casual and lively.

Loved this spot! Super clean, great staff, good was soooo good and beer on tap was great! Loved everything about this spot and will definitely be returning!

Bahn mi with side salad - A sandwich featuring shredded meat, shredded cheese, and vegetables inside a toasted bun, secured with two skewers, is placed on a metal tray. Next to it, a side salad includes cherry tomatoes, shredded cheese, chickpeas, cucumber slices, and mixed greens. The tray is on a counter with condiments and utensils in the background.

Great atmosphere! Fun little bar/restaurant, with a friendly staff. I ordered an IPA with the Bahn mi and house salad, and everything was really good! I haven't had a nice Bahn mi in a while, but this place really crushed it. The pickled veggies were refreshing and the aioli was actually spicy. Id definitely come back here

Buffalo chicken nachos - A serving of buffalo chicken nachos features potato chips topped with shredded chicken, melted cheese, diced tomatoes, and garnished with herbs. The dish is drizzled with white and brown sauces, presented on a metal tray lined with parchment paper, with a wooden table surface visible in the background.

The food was great! It was a bit too loud for a date brunch.. the game was on and we couldn't even have a conversation.

Vegan coconut curry tacos - Three tacos filled with meat and topped with shredded lettuce and vegetables are served on a metal tray. The tray also contains a portion of French fries. The setting appears to be a casual restaurant or bar, with drinks and condiments visible in the background.

We stopped in Modesto on our way to Reno and found a place that had vegan options. I had the cauliflower coconut curry tacos and they were so good and had so much flavor. They also had lots of other vegan options and a good bottle of Chardonnay.

Inside atmosphere! - The image shows the interior of a casual restaurant with several customers seated at tables, some engaged in conversation. The restaurant has a bar area at the back with staff working behind it, and the decor includes brick walls, hanging lights, and wall art made of greenery. There are multiple television screens mounted on the walls, and the space features both indoor seating and a view from outside through an opening or window.

Ok so "road trip"....Modesto bound! OMG! the food was absolutely great-Guy Fieri was RIGHT-again! Cool atmosphere, order at counter, they serve you, inside dining or outside enjoying the fresh air while eating and conversing! Not sure how many "craft beers" on the menu (a lot like maybe 20!) and a couple different ciders! I tried the pineapple combo cider - TWICE my friend tried the other craft cider. A berry of sorts and loved it!! Locally created in a little town to the north of Modesto - Salida! I met a long time friend after watching Guy praise the delectable waffle sandwich on TV! We both drive over an hour each from 2 different directions! A good choice and what a trendy eatery to hang out for almost two hours chatting , eating and enjoying lunch and a local brew! The owers were just as friendly and attentive as one could hope for! You felt comfortable and knew they'd check in on you without pestering... Just watch your car, I didn't heed the parking signs and oops got a parking citation...if only I'd parked across the street in the parking garage...ouch! It's still worth it I will just be more observant next time....and trust me there will be a next time! Taking my guy and two friends Sunday!! Refreshing, AFFORDABLE and super cool owners and vibe...5 STAR!! Katherine K.5

5 stars Elevated, grounded, and glowing. Commonwealth is what happens when passion meets precision. The moment I walked in, I felt it, this wasn't just a place to eat. It was a space to settle into. I had garlic and truffle fries, and it delivered far more than flavor...it offered balance. Rich where it needed to be, fresh where it mattered, and plated like someone was proud of it (as they should be). The bar? Exceptional. The ambiance? Calm yet curated...like Modesto's secret living room. Service was paced and professional, with real human energy behind it. No rush, no push...just ease. This spot carries soul. If you are lucky, you will find a seat in the light. But even if you do not, you will leave shining.

A plate of loaded nachos topped with cheese, chicken, green onions, and drizzled with white sauce, served on a paper-lined tray. Behind it, a bowl of seasoned French fries garnished with herbs is also on the table. The setting appears to be outdoors or in a casual dining area with a wooden table.

Lunch with my oldest at Commonwealth was delectable. The garlic fries were so flavorful and the nachos were tasty. My personal favorite are the tacos they offer but decided to try the nachos this time. Great service and always consistent with the food.

Is it recommended that you make a reservation on a monday night specifically?

You can... but on a Monday it is not too crowded. I would if I had a party over 4 just to be safe.

    How is the food?

Amazing! I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and the buffalo sauce had actual flavor and it didn't make me run for the water.

Woman owned, plenty of seating, quite the selection of board games to play while hanging out. The beer selection, I have not seen one that extensive in a while, including ones brewed in-house!!! And affordable pricing as well! And they sell pizza (looked and smelled incredible, but I did purchase any when I went since I was still full from dinner). They have live music sometimes with a clever indoor/outdoor stage, which is also a perk. It was a very cozy, comfortable, and safe vibe going there, especially since I was there enjoying my drinks solo. The staff were very friendly despite the crowd and long line, happy to explain their "on tap" selections with only one offering being unavailable that evening. I had a Nitro Stout and then later a Cherry Cheesecake Pie Hard Seltzer, both brewed by them, and both were delicious. The hard seltzer did have all those flavor notes and it wasn't overly chemical sweetened, which I greatly appreciated. And I was so happy to see a darker beer option on their menu as the current trends tend to heavily favor the IPA's. Please support this awesome business, I look forward to bringing my significant other soon to play a board game or two over some brews and pizza!

I showed up around 7pm and I thought it might have been closed because no one was here. But they were open. I ordered a Bauer burger with the house seasoned fries. They asked how I'd like the egg cooked and the burger cooked: I asked for medium for both. Given how dead the place was, it did take a minute to get my food. The burger was ok, not worth $21. The bun fell apart very quickly which is a bit of a cardinal sin in the burger game. The bacon on the burger was not bacon strips but a bit of bacon crumble. The patty was a bit overcooked so it was dry and it wasn't seasoned so it was bland. The egg was cooked perfectly, but the aioli and the egg yolk with a disintegrated bun made for a huge mess. The fries were interesting. The house seasoned fries are not salted. So the fries were almost sweet due to the spices, but no salt. And they do not have regular table ketchup or malt vinegar. I did ask for some ketchup and they brought me their house ketchup. While not like a classic ketchup, it was actually quite good. Oh, be aware. They will charge you a 4% fee when they bring you the check (what would have happened if I'd paid with cash?). I do not see anywhere on the menu where they say their is a payment fee so that is a pretty shady business practice. Overall: meh. I think for the price point the burger should have been great, but sadly I can't say it was great or even good. I'd likely not return.
