A Hidden Gem with Nightclub Vibes and Brunch Soul Came in for breakfast and left with a new favorite local spot. The atmosphere is electric but chill--modern ring lighting, glowing LED pillars, a full wall of TVs, and just enough disco ball energy to make you wonder what this place transforms into after dark. (Spoiler: we'll be back to find out.) We started the day with mimosas--light, bright, and generously poured. They set the tone. My partner ordered the Huevos Rancheros, and wow--rich, flavorful, and with just the right kick. The ranchero sauce was warm and bold, layered over perfectly cooked eggs and soft tortillas. Beans and salsa rounded it out with heart and spice. I went classic: two eggs over easy, bacon, and hashbrowns. Everything hit the mark. The eggs were runny and golden, the bacon had that ideal crisp-with-chew balance, and the hashbrowns had a crispy outer layer that gave way to soft, savory insides. Simple, but done right. Service was kind and easygoing--the perfect pace for a morning meal. Plenty of space inside, and the layout somehow makes it feel both open and cozy at the same time. This place feels like a best-kept secret: part brunch lounge, part evening hotspot. We'll absolutely be back. Might just become our go-to.

Steak omelet with hasbrowns and sourdough toast

Party party party! This place has a party vibe. It's an old night club turned into a breakfast brunch spot known for having extra large drinks. I don't partake in drinking myself, but every other table had an extra large drink on their table that everyone is sharing from. This is my second time here. I had never been inside before. Like I said, it has a party vibe. It gets kind of load almost like you're in a club but not that load. Personally, it didn't bother me, but I'm just letting it be known incase your not looking for that vibe or if you are looking for that vibe. All the food was good. Me and my son got the steak omelet with hasbrowns, and my nephew got the Buffalo ranch chicken sandwich. We all shared the berry berry french toast as our dessert. It's definitely a nice place to eat breakfast or brunch, especially if you're in the party mood.

Chile Verde & Eggs

Cool vibe, friendly, not busy. Food was mediocre, the crab eggs benedict was good, not excellent or mind blowing. The chili verde pork was "not good" according to my boyfriend.

Drinks drinks and more drinks! This is definitely a hang out spot. The bartenders are on point, well made, can actually taste the booze! We had brunch but mostly drank cause again so good. I had their burger, which actually tasted like a burger and not one of those pre-made patties. My mom had the waffles with bacon and eggs, which she really enjoyed. Another neighborhood gem in downtown Modesto. They also have outside seating. Vibe is really good and you're in luck if the game is on.

We were celebrating my daughter turning 21. The food was yummy. I ordered the chicken and waffles. My daughter ordered a burger. It was delicious but her fries were cold. They did however bring out some fresh hot ones for her. The service was excellent. Our waitress was super sweet and very attentive and even brought out birthday shots for everyone. We were a big party and she handled us like a champ. Definitely recommend if you like brunch and day drinking.

DUDE! the best breakfast spot by FAR!! my man and I got breakfast this morning with some mimosas Such good food & drinks! My bf said it's the best steak he's ever had in his life! Amazing service. I love it here

This is their "Medium Rare"

Good flavor poor cooking. Went in the morning and when I didn't get alc the server rolled her eyes. $30 steak and eggs breakfast. Witness did call me Mijo so that was worth a star.

Backed up toilet

If you want hot beer then come here. Came here today and the bartender chick gave me and friend two hot beers. Told her they were hot, her response was "yea, we just put them in, I could poor them in a cold glass". Which did nothing, it literally just made the cup hot. Why wouldn't you inform me before so I can make a different choice. No customer service at all, she should've took them back and gave us something else but didn't offer. Additionally, the bathroom plumbing is messed up too. Looked like it backed up. Picture below! Look only if you already ate. lol! Im good off this place!!

This place is AMAZING!! The service was SPECTACULAR!! Not only was I greeted by the hostess quickly but during the duration of my delicious meal of the enormous size portioned chorizo scramble with corn tortillas (they have tons of bread options) every one of the employees greeted me. I sat at the bar and Leo served me. He was an excellent server with an eye for detail. I will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant!

Breakfast Burrito with chirozzo- was good but wish it had more meat.

Came in on a Sunday morning at 9am with 6 ppl and there's already customers. We got seated immediately on the booth table. The vibe is like a club with blasting great hip hop music- I mean I was ready to eat and hit the dance floor. It was very loud for it to be in the morning- woke everyone up What we ordered: Breakfast burrito with chorizo and was good California omelets comes with hash browns and toast- good Chili verde omelette comes with hash browns- was good French toast combo- comes with 2 eggs, bacon and a choice of sausage or ham- was ok bc the toast was fry & not fluffy. Our waitress was great with being friendly and attentive to what we need . Overall, food was great & so was the service.

Omelette is burnt on the other side, but u can taste it throughout. I hate that taste. Pancakes came out cold. Couldnt even met the butter, plus they are weak. My wifes hashbrowns are burnt. The quality control here is abysmal. I actually cane here a few years ago, and im like wtf happened?! Im never coming back. It was so terrible, i didnt even wanna return the food, just gonna run outta here as fast as i can and never come back. But i gotta find the server, totally non existent after initial order lol The floors look gross and all busted up, somebody please buy and remodel this place! This business is an embarrassment to modesto, get it together

Yes, they are open during the purposed times.

Are they currently open? Do you need to make reservations?

They are open but do not take reservations.

How much does the mega mimosa cost?

$32.99 or something close to that

What precautions is this business taking to provide a safe and sanitary environment for its customers in regards to COVID-19?

I went and sat outside. The staff wears masks. The tables are too close together. I felt fine.

My husband gets different things on the menu when we go and he enjoys all of them. The only problem I have is it is so loud in there because it is such a small and confined restaurant. And I enjoy the live music being played. It's just such a tight confined little place. And you have to yell to talk to one another therefore everybody else here's your conversation. This is not a good place to go on a date or to get to know somebody over conversation. That's why you have Galletto's or Tresetti's down the street. But if you wanna go and have a quick breakfast, then this is the place. Though wait waitresses are always very, very nice. And the prices are great.

Sadly disappointed…read more My friends and I stopped by Commonwealth on a Saturday afternoon for a late brunch. It was a beautiful day so it was busy for both indoor and outdoor seating. Here, you order your food, grab a number, and find your own seat for the food to be brought out to you. We sat at a table outside to decide what to order. There were no menus available so we just had to search for it online before heading inside to order. Despite being third in line from the register, we had an extremely long wait to order. There was only one person running the register who also had to make the drinks, meaning the service incredibly slow. We wanted to order the five taco platter, garlic fries, chicken Caesar salad, and mimosa pitcher. Sadly, we were only able to get the pitcher and salad. The cashier told us "sorry, we aren't doing fries right now." Not doing fries? Every plate in the vicinity had fries on them. She said that because it was brunch hour, only food on the brunch menu could be ordered. We looked at the brunch menu again and literally saw garlic fries as an option as a side for the burgers/sandwiches. No where did it specify that you can't order off the other menu and both were available online. What bothered us about this is that we placed this order at around 1:50pm, and brunch ended at 2:00pm. I understand that we are not entitled to things on the lunch menu during brunch-time for items like the tacos, but considering the menu swap was less than 10 minutes away and they were quite literally were "doing fries" at the time, it didn't make much sense to us. The only food that we ended up ordering was the Chicken Caesar Salad. This one dish took a super long time to receive. By the time it was brought out, the three of us nearly finished the Mimosa pitcher. The waitress noticed we had no silverware and said she would go grab us some. Because of how the service had been going thus far, we placed a bet on whether or not the waitress would come back with the silverware. Surprise, surprise. She didn't. We had to go inside later and search for silverware ourselves. We weren't even able to get sharing plates which was upsetting since the waitress asked us if we would be sharing the salad. The salad itself looked delicious, but was bland. The dressing was missing that zing and zest that a Caesar dressing typically has. I do appreciate that is was a chopped salad, had avocado, and seasoned croutons. It is just unfortunate that it was lacking any flavor at all. The food prices are quite affordable for the quantity of food you receive though. This experience was disappointing because I was so optimistic about the place. The menu looked good, it had fun and casual vibes and a cool crowd of people. If Commonwealth worked towards better service practices, it would have been a more positive experience.

My friend got a sandwich and I don't remember what it was but she seemed to like it ok. My only complaint is that I felt like we had to keep flagging the waitress down for refills (they seated us in the far back "forgotten" corner). My food also came out cold. I had to ask them to warm it up. And it is FREEZING cold in there every time I go! I'll bring a blanket next time. When I first went to Con Azucar around last year, the food, drinks, and service were actually…read morereally good. Everything was timely, professional, and enjoyable. Unfortunately, it seems like the quality of the service has really deteriorated over the past year. I went in on Sunday, May 10, 2026 around 7:30 PM just wanting to order two drinks and a sandwich. There were already customers ahead of me, and it took over 10 minutes just for them to finish taking those orders. By the time I finally got to the register and tried to order, I was told they couldn't make the sandwich because they had already turned off the stove. That honestly made no sense to me. If the restaurant is still open and there are customers still inside waiting to order, it should be expected that people are going to order food and drinks because that is literally the point of the restaurant. What made it worse is that they never announced any kind of "last call" or warned customers that the kitchen was shutting down. That felt really unprofessional and not something I experienced there before. We still ordered two drinks: an horchata and a chai with oat milk. The horchata was fine, but the chai was made incorrectly with almond milk instead of oat milk, and it tasted extremely bitter and bad. Since it was so close to closing time by then, we couldn't realistically go back in to have it corrected. So overall, we drove out there expecting food and drinks, and ended up with no sandwich, one decent drink, and one bad drink that was made incorrectly. It feels like the professionalism and customer service have gone downhill. In my opinion, it shouldn't matter what time customers come in as long as the business is still open because the service and quality should remain consistent. Response to owner: Thank you for the response and for offering to replace the drink. I do appreciate that. However, I still feel like the situation could have been handled much better. Before even coming into the café, I was trying to place the exact sandwich and drink order through DoorDash and the app was still allowing the order to go through. Because of that, there was no indication anywhere that hot food orders had already stopped for the night. If ovens are routinely shut down early, I really think customers should be clearly informed either online, on DoorDash, or with an announcement inside the café. I also do not necessarily agree that this is standard across cafés. Other places that serve sandwiches and drinks, like Panera, still prepare food orders even 30 minutes to an hour before closing as long as they are still open. From a customer perspective, if a business is open and accepting orders, it is reasonable to expect the menu items being advertised are still available unless stated otherwise. My main frustration was not just the sandwich itself, but the overall experience. We waited in line for quite a while, were not informed ahead of time that food service had ended, and then one of the drinks was also made incorrectly. It just made the whole visit feel disorganized and disappointing compared to the good experiences I had there previously. I do appreciate the response and willingness to make things right, but I still think clearer communication and more consistency in service would help avoid situations like this for future customers.
