Came to Saucin' It Up Fried Chicken after an influencer influenced us with their tantalizing short-form reel of this place. The first time we came, it was just after this reel went semi-viral so there were a bunch of people lined up. Upon entering, the staff immediately let us know they were having issues with the kitchen and that they had no idea when it would be back up. We decided to leave and return another time. The second time, I made an online pre-order. I decided to get the meal deal for 4 (and a separate order of the blueberry biscuit fried chicken sandwich) for the most variety. This deal includes: - Chicken Option: 8 pc tenders, 16 pc wings, or 16 pc nuggets. I went with the 16 pc wings. They were heavily battered, and the wings were cooked through and still juicy. I wasn't too wowed by them though. - 2 Sides: I went with the honey mustard pasta salad and chipotle potato salad. The pasta salad was soggier than expected, but flavors of both were pretty good. Chipotle potato had a nice kick. - Loaded Wedges: This was literally a potato quartered into 4 wedges. Tastewise, I really liked the seasoning they used on the potato though. I didn't care for the loaded part (cheese, bacon bits, green onion). - Choice of 5 sauces: Personally, the best part of the meal. Their sauces are on point. I went with the strawberry heat, pineapple pepper, XXX, fuego, honey mustard (accident; I wished I had gotten the hot honey blueberry bbq instead). - 4 Can Drinks: Cool I guess, but wished the deal was focused on the food options. The separate blueberry biscuit with chicken was also only just OK. The biscuit wasn't fluffy or buttery and the blueberries were there visually only (barely any blueberry taste). The chicken was fine and not dry at least! The wait the second time around also wasn't bad. I scheduled a 12:15PM order, and I think I got my food about 15-20 min later. I'll start off by saying that I thoroughly enjoyed this place. As for location it's somewhat hidden. Parking is decent for the type of establishment. I was skeptical at first because I didn't smell any aroma outside lol. Ordering was really simple and they have a lot of dipping sauce options. I chose the lemon pepper, buttermilk and rodeo. Rodeo sauce was great. My son liked the Buttermilk I didn't get to try it. The Lemon Pepper was alright but it was mustard based so it mainly tasted like Yellow Mustard. Loaded wedges tasted great. Have to eat them fast because the cheese solidified quickly as it cools. The front counter associate was great with helping decipher on which sauces to order. The downside was that the biscuit was average and the Mac salad was too spicy/horseradish-ish for me. The potato wedges were huge. They were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The salted chocolate chip cookies were a nice finish to the meal. The place is set up to mostly be carry out, but there was a table I was able to sit at and eat some. We first discovered Saucin' it up Fried Chicken at Tapped in Salida a few years back. These days we have them the most at Brethren Brewing Company in Manteca. Let's start with the food. It's THAT good. Every bite is amazing. They often switch up the menu to have something else amazing to try. The chicken is succulent and perfectly seasoned and the portions are enormous. Also, their potato wedges are absolutely killer. Make sure to put those in your order. Their sauces are amazing as well. I love the Get Baq sauce and BBQ sauce but they have something for everyone! Service was good but it's SUPER EXPENSIVE. $24.96 for 8 piece chicken tenders, biscuits $4.16 EACH and they're not big (like we were told), they're mediocre at best. The Biscuit Basket located in front of this building is WAYYYY BETTER and a much better value altogether. For the tiniest container of honey mustard macaroni salad was $6.24 and none of us really cared for it. The sauces were good but they're just tiny containers of sauces. The chicken isn't coated with them - they're plain chicken tenders, good but still way too pricey. Chicken tender dinner was $77. Also strange is the fact that nothing is cooked in the building that you're ordering from. It's done in a separate building that's accessible for employees via a hallway door in the lobby. My family and I just picked up dinner from this place and it's amazing. There are several interesting sauces, we tried about 10 of them, and they are all unique and flavorful. The added bonus that all the food that is fried is gluten free, made this an even bigger no brainer for my family in particular. To anyone debating checking this place out, I'd say go for it. First time coming here and it didn't disappoint. Me and my son came here for his birthday. It's in a slightly hard to find spot but well worth it. We ordered chicken strips which were crispy and juicy. They have a bunch of different sauces and they were all great. I got the loaded wedges which were very cheesy with bacon and green onions. Found this little spot in Modesto near the RC Car Hobby shop. The service was good and the guy at the register was friendly. The chicken tenders were probably some of the most juiciest I've ever had and the Cajun Buttermilk sauce with the tenders was fantastic. Tenders and bone-in wings are good. Service was good, kind people. Fuego and honey mustard usually are hit and miss. I got the sauces recently and they straight up taste like rubbing alcohol mixed with other chemicals, unless you like tasting that then go ahead and sauce it up! I walked in like hi I found this place on FB the guy at front was not welcoming at all I was trying to figure out what to get no suggestions at all paid almost $30 and everything was disgusting. The fried chicken was clearly cooked in dirty old grease I tasted nothing but burnt through the whole chicken no flavor at all which I knew by looking at it was cooked in old grease was so dark very disappointing wedges looked crispy but on the inside was not done at all and Cajun potato salad the potatoes was so hard no flavor at all nothing was good at all. I feel like being a new business and paying anything over 25 the customer service should at least be good , the guy seemed upset he was working no friendliness at all I do not recommend at all. Tried Saucin' It Up for the first time this week. We ordered the wings, tenders, wedges, and a blueberry biscuit to get a good sampling. There are a bunch of dipping sauces to choose from- all homemade which is nice! One nothing that would be helpful is to have the sauces have a description, including a heat level. My husband and I tried three different sauces and, while they were tasty, they were a bit hot for us, and my husband is no wimp like me when ot comes to heat! The chicken was cooked fresh and was coated and seasoned well. The wedges were different, but also good. I might try to smothered wedges next to see if that amps up the flavor. Now the homemade biscuit...OMG! So good It had all the elements of a great biscuit and I would come back just for that!!
