Kung Pao Street Noodles with grilled prawns ($36)
Stan M.

We decided to get out of town for a date night and ended up at Roth Social. After reading some Yelp reviews mentioning unfriendly or inattentive staff, I have to disagree. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted right away and promptly seated (I had a reservation, but honestly didn't need one around 8:30pm--there were several tables open). For drinks, I ordered the 1915 Elder Fashioned ($20) and my wife had the Peaches and Dreams ($20). Both cocktails were perfectly crafted and absolutely delicious. We started with the Argentine empanadas served with bone marrow and chimichurri--two good-sized empanadas for $24. Great flavor and a solid way to kick things off. For my entrée, I ordered the hanger steak cooked medium--it came out perfect. It was served with Roth Fries, which might honestly be the best garlic fries I've had in a long time. Fresh garlic, Parmesan, parsley... just done right. The steak was topped with chimichurri and came with two dipping sauces--everything worked. My wife ordered the Kung Pao Street Noodles with grilled prawns ($36), and she loved it. Overall, great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a standout experience. Our waitress, Janet, was amazing--super attentive and helpful. Whenever I asked about dishes I saw coming out, she was more than happy to explain them. We'll definitely be back.

Benedict -- OVER HARD!

Lots to be desired. Honestly, the only thing good was the atmosphere. We came in at 2pm with no reservations and, despite the restaurant not even being full, somehow got seated at the worst table in the house... the booth alllll the way by the bathrooms. Lucky us. The service and food didn't recover from there. My son's pizza came out after the rest of us had already finished eating, and my eggs benedict came with an over-hard egg instead of the soft yolk you'd expect. Not exactly what I was hoping for.

We went there when last night to celebrate my daughters new masters degree. At first I wasn't sure about this place. Food was excellent and the service was very good. Will definitely go back.

First time here! Can't believe it's taken me this long. Atmosphere is great. If you sit in a booth and look towards bar... not the street... it feels like you are in another city other than Turlock. Love that. Ok, we Started with heirloom burrata salad. Delish. The pistachios were unique to set this dish apart from other restaurants. ordered bread to soak up the leftover juice as it was so good. I know things have changed.. but, with a restaurant of this caliber, I feel a basket of 4 slices of bread should be complimentary. I was not a fan of the thickly cut rosemary bread and tomato infused oil. something was off with the oil. The main dish I chose was the spicy pasta with added shrimp. This dish is not for the weak people who think Taco Bell is spicy. It is spicy! But I love spice. Spice is life!! The shrimp were great if you enjoy the chargrilled flavor, however, for me.. it was overwhelming for the dish. ** with the addition of a protein... 4 large shrimp be prepared to pay more. We also ordered the salmon dish. It was perfectly cooked. Their selection of wine is good. Now, onto service. We liked our server and her personality. However, her knowledge of items was not where I would expect for a restaurant of this stature. she was pregnant so I understand if she can't eat or drink certain things... but she should know a bit more and not have to stop and walk away to ask each time. here's the really odd thing, we were still finishing up our dinner, (at least 1/2 left along with our Rombauer wine bottle), (which she never came to pour for us when glasses were low) she never asked if we wanted dessert. She said " I'll put the bill here, don't worry about rushing to leave, just putting it here so it's ready" Typically, you ask if your guests would like dessert. We had to ask her. She was NOT busy at all. In fact, we saw her many times just chatting with the hostess. We ended up ordering the Basque strawberry cheesecake. I've never had that and it is VERY different than regular cheesecake which I think she should have been able to describe. I think we would have ordered differently. It was much drier. Not as creamy and dense as your usual cheesecake. it truly needed more strawberry's and strawberry drizzle in my opinion. I'm not saying I didn't like it... I'm just saying I literally had to google it while eating because it didn't seem right to me. seemed like maybe ricotta was added? No.. it's just the process how they bake. This is part of what makes me a foodie extraordinaire. I'm curious, and I notice textures and tastes. I would definitely go here again if asked. However, know you are going to be getting a decent bill. Enjoy! Pics to follow.

This is the best place I've ever eaten at! Everything from the service to the food was amazing! Came here for valentines and they gave all the girls a rose which I thought was so cute! I got the vodka pasta with chicken Omg 10/10 it was the best pasta I've ever had! The chicken was so flavorful and juicy it was amazing! My boyfriend got the pizza and it was delicious as well. The inside of the restaurant was to die for as well I cannot recommend this place enough!

This is only my second time coming here and I had to say WOW! The food is just so amazing!! I came to lunch with a few friends and every single meal was amazing. We had the hummus appetizer 10/10!! The seabass was to die for 15/10!! Their water is actually good too. I can't remember the last time I went to a restaurant and the water didn't taste like chlorine. When I got home and showed the pictures to my husband he thought the pictures were fake the presentation was stunning!

Came here tonight since I was in town and it had good reviews! The place is adorable inside!! It took a minute for the waitress to come to my table, which she apologized for. Pretty sure she didn't write down my order, which always makes met nervous, since I usually modify what I order! I ordered the Thai lollipops, which I was excited to try! I also ordered the shrimp gambas and the strawberry fields salad, (extra dressing and wanted the dressing on the side-since I knew I wouldn't be able to eat it all and was planning on bringing it home to eat as leftovers). She forgot the Thai lollipops, but I wasn't charged for them. The salad came with dressing, which I pointed out to her, and she said it didn't look like there was a ton on it! Which was true, but I didn't want any on it, since I was going to eat it tomorrow for lunch, and I can't eat soggy salad! The salad was good, sweet with poppy seed dressing and had yummy candied nuts, paired with blue cheese crumbles, but not sure it's worth $21 without any protein on it! The shrimp I didn't love, I liked the spice level, it actually made me cough it was so spicy, but I felt like the shrimp were kinda soggy in texture, if that makes any sense? The waitress was sweet and nice, so I would come back again even though only giving tonight a 3.5.

Flank steak

Was recently in the area for work and planning to visit another local spot for dinner. After the job ran long we ended up giving this spot a try and I'm so glad we did! My friend Katie and I arrived 30 min before closing on a Thursday and after asking if the kitchen was still open and promising that we would be quick were shown to a booth. Upon being seated we asked for a couple recommendations and quickly ordered the chicken lollipops and a flank steak to split. The appetizer arrived quickly. The chicken was perfectly flavored with a nice mix of sweet and spicy and served on a bed of slaw. After we devoured that dish the steak arrived. It was cooked a perfect medium rare and was served with fries that had garlic and Parmesan sprinkled on top. This was the perfect late night meal to split for two. Great vibe in the restaurant and service was outstanding. I'll definitely be back!

The food menu pic taken how it is supposed to be taken, so that when you expand it doesn't get blury.

My wife and I tried this place for the first time last night and it was amazing. The food was delicious! We ordered the Korean chicken bao buns as an appetizer. Very delicious and packed a little bit of a spicy kick to them but not overwhelming. The chicken was crispy KFC style like all Korean fried chicken is. They were very fresh and came with 3 bao buns. You could make them a meal by doubling up the order, 5/5 stars. The service was absolutely delightful. Our wait person Joey, 5/5 stars, was attentive and extremely helpful. In fact, I was indecisive about what I wanted and he recommended the Spicy Vodka Pasta and adding a protein of hangar steak. The pasta (fettuccine I think), was a bit thicker and rounder than your typical fettuccine, but it tasted home made and perfectly cooked. The hanger steak also perfectly cooked to my medium rare request and very tender, and that vodka sauce just brought all of the flavors together and made the whole dish pop with flavor, this dish was 5/5 stars. My wife had the Kung pao street noodles with an added protein of wild prawns. She said the noodle had a certain flavor that she didn't care for and couldn't identify. She gave the noodles 3.5/5 stars and the added wild prawns 5/5 stars. I didn't try her dish so I couldn't say. The bread pudding dessert was exclusively my wife's partaking. I was too full and had I eaten any more I would have been uncomfortable. My wife gave it 5/5 stars, said it was delicious, but said it should have come with more than 1 scoop of ice cream LOL. All-in-all, our overall experience is what you should expect from a good restaurant...very enjoyable and we will return. The only knock on this establishment was the noise level. It was extremely LOUD! We reserved a table for Friday night at 7:00pm just to give an idea of time frame. There is a bar area right next to dining area and the music was playing extremely loud, almost like we were in a dance club yet I didn't see any dance floor. Everyone in the restaurant had to talk extremely loud just to be heard over the music which increased the noise level. There was a brief spell where the music subsided and the music volume dropped dramatically and you could hear everyone's speaking volume also drop. The noise level is the only reason this place got 4 stars instead of 5.

Wagyu burger and beef stroganoff
Matthew J.

Ambiance/decor/vibes = 5 stars. Service = 4 stars. Food = 3 stars. Let's start with ambiance - really well done. The space is trendy and modern and appeared very clean and kept up. You don't feel that you're in monte vista crossings, has more of a city / downtowny feel. Service - not much to complain about here except the order our food came out. We ordered a cold appetizer (oysters) and it came out after our dinner plates. I made a brief and polite comment about them coming out of order and it was barely acknowledged by our waiter with no offer to remedy. Food = 3 stars. The beef stroganoff was delicious - if judging based on that, 5 stars. But the wagyu burger was impossibly soggy - the bottom bun was dissolving from the get go. And the oysters didn't taste fresh at all. Not sure if it was because I was stuffed already, or they actually tasted off, but I wouldn't order them again. Presentation on all the food, however, was very nicely done. All in all, I'd come back a second time and hope for better food. If they deliver, I'd gladly update my review. It's nice seeing trendier options in Turlock so more than willing to give it another go.

2nd time here and the pizzas are always a hit! Definitely recommend them, the only thing I didn't like is that they do not accommodate a large group indoors! We were a party of 6 and had to be seated outside the patio area in the blazing heat 103 degrees . I wish we could've sat inside, they could've just put some tables together.

The food was amazing! Everything from the appetizers to the entrees to the drinks did not disappoint! Aliayah was our server and she had great recommendations and service! The ambiance and music was great! Such a great find in the Central Valley! Definitely will be back!

The interior has a nice, relaxed vibe with comfortable seating and a clean, inviting atmosphere. We started with the calamari and edamame. The calamari was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with just the right amount of seasoning. The edamame was lightly salted and had a wonderful flavor that made it easy to snack on while we waited for our main courses. I had the Korean stone bowl and was very impressed. The beef was tender, flavorful, and slightly sweet, and everything was served piping hot in a beautifully presented bowl. My husband had the salmon bowl and thought it was cooked perfectly with a nice balance of flavors. Another friend tried the coconut shrimp curry and said it was delicious, with a rich and slightly sweet coconut sauce that paired well with the shrimp. Overall, we were very happy with the food and the experience. The restaurant felt clean and well-maintained, and the staff made sure our meal went smoothly. I would definitely come back if I am in the area.

The holiday drinks were just posted on social media two days prior and they were already unable to make one of the drinks. I've had the peppermint martini a few years ago, so went back to that. It was good, but I remember it being a little better before. Also, the presentation of drinks seems to change based on who is making them. Sometimes it's rimmed with peppermint, mine was on the side of the glass. Same issue as last time. The peppermint was too heavy and sliding down the glass, making the stem sticky when picked up. We shared several different sushi rolls. The rice seemed way over done. It was one mushy texture and the spicy tuna lacked spice. I ordered the salmon for my entree. Salmon was well cooked with a glaze and served with broccoli. First bite of broccoli tasted burnt, but luckily the rest was fine. We ordered all the desserts to sample and the best was the flourless chocolate cake and the cheesecake with the bananas. Our server was super sweet and always made sure we had what we needed.

Everything we tried was delicious. Our server Kirk was amazing, kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. He made everything easy and enjoyable without ever feeling rushed. You can tell he genuinely cares about his guests. And then... Mallory, the bartender. I'm extremely picky about my dirty martinis, and hers was right up there with the one I had at the Four Seasons a couple months ago. Perfectly smooth, icy cold, beautifully balanced exactly how I like it. And don't even get me started on the pumpkin espresso martini absolutely to die for. She was darling, came by our table just to make sure we were loving our drinks. One or two who's counting martinis later, we were absolutely sold. The vibe is stunning, gorgeous, upscale, yet totally low-key. I honestly felt like I was on vacation. We've hands down found our new spot. This is our place. Can't wait to come back and tell all of our friends.

The reviews about the loud music is true and it's not changing any time soon…read more I visited for dinner ~6:30pm. Immediately when walking in I noticed the music was overwhelmingly loud. It felt more like a club scene rather than a nice dinner spot. I asked if the waitress could lower the music and she said they weren't allowed to touch it. Upon seeing the reviews of this place, I see why. The business owner claims that they're trying to curate a "lively atmosphere" and it's "not for everyone". That's wack. If half of your reviews are telling you the music is too loud, lower it. I could barely hear my partner speak and had to read lips just to try to have a conversation. Plus some of the waitstaff were changing songs midway through or skipping songs. It was distracting. On top of that, the main dishes do not come with a side. Every single side option is an up charge. I knew when ordering the salmon, that it wouldn't come with a side. But everyone should note that you're spending $25 on an 8oz salmon and two slices of lemon with not a single side. No rice, no nothing. To be honest, you can go to Texas Roadhouse and get the same exact thing for the same exact price and get two sides for free. Plus you're not hounded by extremely loud music. Last thing to note, our waitress was also working the bar. There was a couple at one other table and someone at the bar. Other than that, the restaurant was completely empty. We barely saw our waitress and had to wait for quite a while when we wanted to order another drink. We spent a lot of extra time than we wanted to waiting around. My positive about this restaurant is that the decor is nice and that they let you modify the dish a bit. We ordered the pasta trio and they let us get two of one type of pasta. The pesto was really good. The deals on Thursday for drinks is good. The bread and butter was really good but an extra $5. Overall? Business owner: please take note of what customers are saying and compromise. If a customer asks for the server to lower the music, staff should be allowed to, even if just a little bit. What sort of "lively atmosphere" are you trying to create on a Thursday night at 7pm with a restaurant 90% empty? Maybe change the vibe of the music based on the time of day. Your decorations say "nice dinner" your music says "sports bar". There is an in between and I know it can be found. I hope everyone can learn something from this review.

Shortly after, a group of about 8 ladies arrived and began talking a bit loudly while enjoying their lunch. It occurred to me that the design of the place enhances the sound (a lot of hard, flat surfaces) so for a quiet lunch, this may not be your place. After my associate arrived, we asked to move over by the wall behind the cash register. This worked fine until one of the employees propped open a door a few feet away, supposedly so another worker could carry in some supplies. I got up and closed it. The first one came back, looked at me and propped it open again, the other employee walked in with four gallons of liquid, leaving the door open, and the draft blowing. I got up and closed it again. For the rest of the time we were there, neither worker came back to pass through would have been an open door. My message, the management doesn't care about their customers (which seems to have been commented on by other reviewers). Fortunately, throughout the meal, our server was attentive, did a fine job of seeing to our needs, the food (we both had salads) were plentiful and tasty. We both remarked on the quality of the chicken, not dry, not tough, spot on. Overall, I probably won't return soon because there are so many other places left to try in the city and county first.
