Commonwealth Turlock - Hamburger Bonanza with Garlic Fries - New American Near Me - Turlock, California

Commonwealth has great burgers and fries! They also have nachos, salads, chicken options and wings. Typical bar food that tastes great. The beer selection is quite large (about 15+) and they change their beers often so you're able to try new beers. Walk up to place your order. They give you a number...find a table and they deliver the food to your table. Plenty of TV's to watch sports too. read more

Commonwealth Turlock - Breakside Salted Carmel Stout - New American Near Me - Turlock, California

The ambience of Commonwealth is actually quite nice. When you walk inside you are able to order at the cashier and you grab a number and choose your own seat. They bring you your food to your table. They have an entire wall with plenty of beer and cider options on tap as well as wine. I tried the jalapeño pear cider and I really liked it a lot. It is a nice fresh flavor of jalapeño and a hint of pear, very unique. I paid seven dollars for the cider which is actually quite reasonable for downtown Turlock. We also got the honey Sriracha wings and a burger with fries. The food was good and so were the drinks. It takes about 15 minutes to receive your food which is great on timing. I would like to come back here again and try different food and drink options. read more

the most insane and unhinged interaction i have ever had with a MANAGER of an establishment. typically it's the entry level employees, but this time it was the person in charge which is so embarrassing and funny. we had placed an order for a sandwich. my bf swears he said fried. manager swears he said grilled. whatever. all i asked for, very respectfully, was to get it fixed. the server takes my plate (passive aggressively but whatever) and then 2 minutes later the manager comes out huffing and puffing, all red in the face like she ran 5 miles. she was insisting and swearing up and down that my bf ordered it grilled and that she can replace it but we ABSOLUTELY had to know that he ordered it wrong. when i explained to her i wasn't upset about the food but more upset about her approach and tone she started to moan and groan about how it's been a long day and it's just a terrible day( take a break next time???). My bf and i tried talking to her and she kept telling us she's too busy to stand there and talk and i looked at her like ????? like girl u at work... where your job is to serve ... and talk..... HUH? anyways the whole experience felt like a fever dream. i'm never going back and i wouldn't really recommend this place to anyone. the food looked good but it's never worth eating your food somewhere when u know it's a norm to speak to your customers like that especially since the manager sets the tone for all the other employees. BIG YIKES. read more

They did horrible with service and ignored us for an hour. I understand it was a bit packed but they served tables that were there after us. We had to ask where our order was and then they decided to tell us it was almost out when they could have told us a while ago that the kitchen is busy and that it'll take 10-15 more minutes before the food arrived but nothing. They also were rude and ignored us for most of the time. I get it you order ur own food but I still thought they went from table to table to check on their customers but I guess not? What's the point of the tip if they aren't actually doing anything but handing out the food? I just wish that they provided more than just serving and actually connected and spoke to the customers instead of standing behind the counter. I do hope that they do better with this feedback and actually improve in their business. read more

Service is combative and unacceptable. They argue with you and continue to tell the customer they can't place an order. We were told we could order lunch at 2pm. We waited until 2:10 and were still told we couldn't place our order. We asked if we could get fires while we waited as we saw most customers had fries. Again told no. When I showed a look of frustration, manager walked up to me with an aggressive tone, "WHAT!?" Threw her hands up and lunged at me. She continued to argue with my husband and when he told her I'm tired of your excuses she continued to lay into him. He asked her to end the conversation three times before she finally walked away. I witnessed them giving special treatment to the customers who bought them alcohol. There's no reason for the manager to be rude and aggressively attack as if she was ready to fight. You should never make your customers feel as if you're going to beat them up. If you want them to give any kind of service you better get them drunk as that's the only reason they provide service. Every single review you read about the terrible service BELIEVE IT!! read more

Came on Sunday at 11 before the rush of people. The staff at the bar was very kind, but after ordering our food, it took 40 minutes to come out. When the poached eggs on our meal were cut into, they were undercooked with the white of the egg still being a translucent color. After asking them to redo it, it took 15 minutes and then the poach eggs came out as hard-boiled eggs. One of our other meals had poached eggs also, but we waited to cut into them thinking if they were under done, it would give them time to finish cooking while eating other stuff but one was done correctly and the other was underdone. Very disappointing will not be coming back or recommending. read more

Third time here. Like the chill atmosphere and good beer selection! The fries and onion rings are very good! Tried the Buffalo chicken sandwich this time; was good I love a good spice! Had my eyes watering and nose running in a good way. read more

The beer is great but the food not so much. I really want to like their tacos but they are mediocre. Fry's that come with the tacos are not good. Maybe have a couple of beers then the food will taste better. read more

Although the food was good, our appetizer arrived with our main course and was rather mumbled out when placing before the wrong person. We were never asked how our food was, or even approached after receiving to see if everything was okay. Empty tables sat dirty until there were 5 or 6 between patio and inside, and I counted at least 6 flies on one table while bored and patiently awaiting for our food. Horrible service and rather dirty. Clean rags won't leave tables sticky. As a server and bartender in the past, I know. Unfortunately won't be returning. read more

Decent food, but definitely not worth the money. Beer selection is good, but again expensive.

Perfect spot for a quick lunch, or casual dinner. Great for families early in the evening, and for friends and date night later at night. Service is still ramping up, but is getting better everytime we visit. Beer selection is the best in Turlock (if you're looking for more than what Dust Bowl offers) - and the menu offers some of the best burgers and salads. Don't sleep on this place, Turlock needs more like it. read more

Nice location in downtown Turlock. Good parking. Warehouse style restaurant so it can get loud. A nice place to go with friends who enjoy craft beer. I had a delicious cider and the tacos were amazing! My husband's burger was a disappointment to him. The burger was a bit smaller than the bun and it was well done. He likes beef a little closer to the rare side. You order up at the counter and the servers were very helpful and efficient. We would probably go again and try out some more beer and tacos. read more

I visited Commonwealth about six months ago. I purposely waited for my disappointment to ebb regarding the service. It was about November of 2023. I requested the Eggs Benedict and said clearly that I needed the eggs cooked more than "over easy". The young lady who took the order seemed kind of unsure about what I meant. So, I said, cooked medium or hard, no runny yolks. If you take a look at your regular menu, it mentions on the bottom that some items like meat and eggs might be unsafe if not cooked enough, or something to that affect. The breakfast arrived about 15 minutes later, longer than other customers waited for theirs. Immediately I checked the eggs, which were runny, runny, runny. I told the wait staff, who said they would tell the cook they weren't cooked enough. She looked hesitant but took my plate back. There were no new customers, but this cook made me wait 20 minutes for my order. The eggs were still runny. It became obvious that I was being punished. I can't bring myself to say what I found on my plate with my breakfast. It was something really obnoxious. I wanted to complain to management, but I didn't think they would believe me. It really happened and I have never gone back, even though the food was good. I hope other first-time customers are not treated as badly as we were read more

The service was less than bad. I understand that they may have been having a problem in the kitchen. But we waited for 50 minutes for 4 salads while others all around us received their food. We ask 2 times and were assured they would check-nothing. When our food finally came, no apology, no offer of anything even a free refill of our sodas. The food was okay, the ambiance fun. If your looking for a place to grab some drinks and eat some food after you had a few drinks then I recommend you try this place. If your looking to try some delicious food then this is not the place to go. The food is "ok". I had the potato nachos, they had so much salt we were not able to finish them. We also got garlic wings. They were some nice meaty wings but unfortunately the flavor was not any better than the frozen wings from the grocery store. The food was ok and the service was bad . She cut me off in the middle of my question, she looked mad but when's group of guys came by she was very flirty with them. I won't be returning. I rather spend my money somewhere with good food that appreciates my business read more

We decided to give this place a try as we had previously had great experiences at their Modesto location. When we first arrived we were greeted with friendly smiles. However, that was the end of all and any customer service we received that night. Not once after receiving our food were we acknowledge or asked if we needed refills. She got a pesto chicken sandwich, and let me tell you it should have been called the pesto bread sandwich considering the lack of chicken the sandwich contained. I ordered the commonwealth cob salad with extra chicken, once again not too happy with their intake on "extra ". On the brighter side their, cauliflower bites were delicious! To say the least we will be taking the extra fifteen minute drive to their Modesto location. read more

Found hair in my food. Our waiter looked annoyed when we told him. Otherwise the restaurant has a great atmosphere/vibe to it that Turlock really needs. Hair in my food though, that's enough for me to red flag a restaurant for a good while. read more

Staff were nice and friendly, but other than that the food was terrible! My Bacon was cold where you could literally see the solidified grease on them my potatoes were also cold, my eggs were slimy like they were still uncooked yuck! Turlock has better breakfast options than this place. read more

I went in today with my family before heading to the movies. It was very busy and unfortunately they ran out of fries. They offered homemade chips or side salad. My kids opted for chips with their meals and my husband and I with a side salad. The food was absolutely delicious and the server was so nice. She didnt charge lemonade or iced tea to make up for the fries. Before we finished out meal she came out with a side of fries as they sent someone to purchase more. The service, drinks and food were great and we will definitely be returning again. read more

The food is so yummy! Very clean and cute place. Definitely recommend! Staff is super nice as well.

I ordered a salad and the croutons tasted so old. Also there was a hair in my salad. Other than that, the garlic fries were really good, and the portions were very large. read more

There was a mouse running around the INSIDE dinning room area. When we told the staff there was a mouse running around they were very nonchalant about it like it wasn't a big deal. He said the owners are aware of it and are taking care of it " there way" he said there is a neighborhood cat that helps with the issue so it seems like it's a constant thing not an isolated incident . He then said " it's one of those things" . I don't know how an outside neighborhood cat can help with a mouse issue inside of the restaurant . I don't want to eat at a restaurant that has mice running around while staff and owners don't seem to care or take care of the issue . is this a health code violation ? read more

Really great food. Enjoyed everything we had. Service is a bit slow if it's crowded. Otherwise five stars.

Great service friendly faces all the time quick service and good options for experimenting new flavors!

Me and my wife really like this place! Get food quick and we are picky eaters too, we have it done our way and they do just that! All the servers are kind and quick to get you what you need! Our favorite things are the chicken tacos & Parmesan chicken sandwich with cheese skirt, and under cooked fries! We've been here MANY time and have NEVER been dissatisfied with the food or service. read more

Menu looked good. There was liquid on the floor and I notified the server at the bar. She told me "it leaks". There was no further action.

Always loved Commonwealth in Modesto, Turlock is much closer, winner winner chicken wing dinner! Seriously though, they took over the old Dust Bowl location in downtown Turlock. The food we had was fantastic, plus tons of taps with good craft beer. They had three different offerings from Russian River, one of my favorites. The garlic buffalo wings were fantastic. As were the selection of tacos. We had five different ones and all were great. Next time a burger will be in order, perhaps a Royale with Cheese with a cheddar skirt. read more

Really cool place with lots of beer choices and great food selections. We sat outside on a nice cool evening. Would go back!

Hours of operation are wrong...went in at 12:30 on a Saturday. Service is drive thru level. Order at the counter and hope to find a seat after. Some menu items not available until 2. But no mention until ordering it. Please, Put this issue on the menu or a giant sign. I didn't eat because of this issue, but I was hungry. Service is drive thru level. Order at the counter and hope to find a seat after. Service with a lack of a smile. Sucks I really liked this place in Modesto, but post pandemic and opening the new location...it kind of lacks. Even the beer selections aren't the same. Their all sours and ipas. No one wants to have a sour face the entire time their in a restaurant. Show the depth of the market please. That depth in selections was the cool thing you guys used to do. Provide "service" and quit trying to be efficient. Make the customer smile if possible, cause I felt how stressed out the staff was feeling. But just be welcoming, felt like I should have turned around and went somewhere else because of the lack. read more

I ordered ahead of time and told the server we would like to eat in but we're on a work lunch. We arrived at 12:10 and they handed me our lunch in a bag to go and asked us to pay. I advised her that we would like to eat in. They seated us but never brought water or never checked on us. It was actually very rude. We asked for water They gave it but still never returned. Food was good but service. Customer service was awful. read more

The best Cauliflower tacos and beer !! Yummy , and not to mention the staff was super cool, they let me taste until I found what I liked

This place started off sooooo great. The atmosphere is great. Lots of outside seating perfect for spring and autumn. No hard alcohol but there is a beer/cider to satisfy anyone's pallet. The food was good. I would have liked my pulled pork sandwich with a little more sauce because when I took a bite and the pork was saucy, it was excellent. She had the Cubana and something just was not right, rather if it was the bread not toasted or something else? It was good but just not quite there. So the main reason for the 3 stars is the service. The tasting room for Dustbowl Brewery was the business before them, and like the tasting room Commonwealth's service was less than adequate. They are great when you first order at the register and getting your beer. Once we got our food that was it for service. Never once got asked how we were doing, never got asked if I wanted another beer and I told the person when we ordered I would leave the tap open because I would probably order another beer. (I was not driving). I did not even mention all the flies but I gave them a pass on that because "Baby it's cold outside" read more
