Overall an excellent experience. A good sized group went here yesterday between a dry wedding and an even drier reception and all had a great time. The menu was great. I had my favorite Fieldwork hazy and others had the Pliny and red and white wines. Service was great. Fast and responsive. Ambiance was good too. We all felt comfortable and safe in downtown Turlock. Everything was clean and bathrooms were clean too. Highly recommend going back soon!

Stopped in for a late night bite after a Christmas party. The, staff was very friendly and helpful. Ordered the Commonwealth burger with fries. Great burger taste, plenty juicy, lots of garnishes in there. Wish the meat patty was bigger though. Plenty of fries, were VERY crispy! Not in a burnt way, just a very pleasant crispy way. Glad I stopped in.

    Cubano

I remember this as being where the original Dust Bowl was, before they moved to the other side of the freeway. The vibe at this place was similar, a bar where they served food. I think they call it a gastropub. I came for the food. I had the Cubano sandwich. When I got my plate, it looked okay. The sandwich bread looked a little flat. There was a decent portion of meat in there, but I cannot say it was piled high. It tasted pretty good though. The worst part of the meal was the fries. Clearly they were sitting there for a while. They were just warm, and rather soft. Definitely not fresh out of the fryer. Disappointed, because I love fries. One last thing. If you have a low cold tolerance, bring a sweater or sit outside. We sat underneath one of the vents and my friends were freezing.

    2 pork & 1 chicken taco

Now I remember why I don't go here. It was 50 degrees outside when I arrived to meet a friend. concrete floors. High ceilings. Aesthetics are good. However, when you are so cold and feel like you're in an icebox... not fun. I had to switch my plan from beer to a red wine so I didn't have to hold a cold glass of beer. I told the gal at the front how cold it was and after hearing how they aren't cold... she turned around and told the guy wearing shorts to turn it up 1 degree. yes. Just 1 degree. Um... seriously. I asked her to look around and not one person had their coat off. That's a sign we are all cold. I don't know about all of you, but I like to be cozy and take my coat off and relax when I go out. My salad was marginal. my friend had the pork tacos and 1 chicken. He said they were fine. On another note... I had to leave a tab open to order my wine before my friend got there. I told her we would be eating as well. My friend ended up putting it on his card. But here we are 2 days later and I have a $1 pending on my card. I called Commonwealth and she said it automatically charges your card $1 and it should get reversed in 48 hours. Now, I know it's only $1, but, this never happens anywhere else. If you go to a bar and "keep it open" I have never been charged $1 on top of a bill to keep tab open. Have you?? It's my dollar, not yours to keep for 48 -72 hours! lol. Won't be back unless it's warmer out ...I may try. But customers were saying it's really hot in there in summer. So that's a hard no for me. Don't say I didn't warn you.

    BLEAT sandwich comes with fries
    Lea V.

The husband and I came here on a Sunday for the brunch menu and were pleased with the food and experience. I got the BLEAT sandwich (fried egg, bacon, tomato, lettuce, on sourdough with a lemon aioli) and he got the chicken and waffles. The aioli on the sandwich really lightened the flavor and was refreshing. Overall my husband liked his choice but would prefer that the chicken breast to be beaten thinner. The waffle was delicious. Good music, good service, good beer! We'll be back for brunch to try more.

Went there last minute and enjoyed the food. I had the Napa Nachos and liked them. They were made with homemade potato chips and I was surprised that the combination worked. My wife had a glass of wine. $9.70 and a small pour. Not impressed with that. The place is clean with a relaxed atmosphere.

SOS from the Sunday brunch menu.

I am moving my rating up to 5 stars. Food has drastically improved since they opened. Always have at least three quality dark beers on rotation!Their Sunday brunch menu is very reasonably priced.

The waffle is the only reason I added a star. The service is slow, the food is poorly prepared and does not come out at a reasonable time.

The interior has a nice, relaxed vibe with comfortable seating and a clean, inviting atmosphere. We started with the calamari and edamame. The calamari was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with just the right amount of seasoning. The edamame was lightly salted and had a wonderful flavor that made it easy to snack on while we waited for our main courses. I had the Korean stone bowl and was very impressed. The beef was tender, flavorful, and slightly sweet, and everything was served piping hot in a beautifully presented bowl. My husband had the salmon bowl and thought it was cooked perfectly with a nice balance of flavors. Another friend tried the coconut shrimp curry and said it was delicious, with a rich and slightly sweet coconut sauce that paired well with the shrimp. Overall, we were very happy with the food and the experience. The restaurant felt clean and well-maintained, and the staff made sure our meal went smoothly. I would definitely come back if I am in the area.

The holiday drinks were just posted on social media two days prior and they were already unable to make one of the drinks. I've had the peppermint martini a few years ago, so went back to that. It was good, but I remember it being a little better before. Also, the presentation of drinks seems to change based on who is making them. Sometimes it's rimmed with peppermint, mine was on the side of the glass. Same issue as last time. The peppermint was too heavy and sliding down the glass, making the stem sticky when picked up. We shared several different sushi rolls. The rice seemed way over done. It was one mushy texture and the spicy tuna lacked spice. I ordered the salmon for my entree. Salmon was well cooked with a glaze and served with broccoli. First bite of broccoli tasted burnt, but luckily the rest was fine. We ordered all the desserts to sample and the best was the flourless chocolate cake and the cheesecake with the bananas. Our server was super sweet and always made sure we had what we needed.

It was a mixed bag for me…read more First, I was one of the first to arrive in the dining room for lunch, where it was nice and quiet (which I needed as I had a meeting with an officer from a local non-profit to discuss some fundraising things). Shortly after, a group of about 8 ladies arrived and began talking a bit loudly while enjoying their lunch. It occurred to me that the design of the place enhances the sound (a lot of hard, flat surfaces) so for a quiet lunch, this may not be your place. After my associate arrived, we asked to move over by the wall behind the cash register. This worked fine until one of the employees propped open a door a few feet away, supposedly so another worker could carry in some supplies. I got up and closed it. The first one came back, looked at me and propped it open again, the other employee walked in with four gallons of liquid, leaving the door open, and the draft blowing. I got up and closed it again. For the rest of the time we were there, neither worker came back to pass through would have been an open door. My message, the management doesn't care about their customers (which seems to have been commented on by other reviewers). Fortunately, throughout the meal, our server was attentive, did a fine job of seeing to our needs, the food (we both had salads) were plentiful and tasty. We both remarked on the quality of the chicken, not dry, not tough, spot on. Overall, I probably won't return soon because there are so many other places left to try in the city and county first.

Everything we tried was delicious. Our server Kirk was amazing, kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. He made everything easy and enjoyable without ever feeling rushed. You can tell he genuinely cares about his guests. And then... Mallory, the bartender. I'm extremely picky about my dirty martinis, and hers was right up there with the one I had at the Four Seasons a couple months ago. Perfectly smooth, icy cold, beautifully balanced exactly how I like it. And don't even get me started on the pumpkin espresso martini absolutely to die for. She was darling, came by our table just to make sure we were loving our drinks. One or two who's counting martinis later, we were absolutely sold. The vibe is stunning, gorgeous, upscale, yet totally low-key. I honestly felt like I was on vacation. We've hands down found our new spot. This is our place. Can't wait to come back and tell all of our friends.

The reviews about the loud music is true and it's not changing any time soon…read more I visited for dinner ~6:30pm. Immediately when walking in I noticed the music was overwhelmingly loud. It felt more like a club scene rather than a nice dinner spot. I asked if the waitress could lower the music and she said they weren't allowed to touch it. Upon seeing the reviews of this place, I see why. The business owner claims that they're trying to curate a "lively atmosphere" and it's "not for everyone". That's wack. If half of your reviews are telling you the music is too loud, lower it. I could barely hear my partner speak and had to read lips just to try to have a conversation. Plus some of the waitstaff were changing songs midway through or skipping songs. It was distracting. On top of that, the main dishes do not come with a side. Every single side option is an up charge. I knew when ordering the salmon, that it wouldn't come with a side. But everyone should note that you're spending $25 on an 8oz salmon and two slices of lemon with not a single side. No rice, no nothing. To be honest, you can go to Texas Roadhouse and get the same exact thing for the same exact price and get two sides for free. Plus you're not hounded by extremely loud music. Last thing to note, our waitress was also working the bar. There was a couple at one other table and someone at the bar. Other than that, the restaurant was completely empty. We barely saw our waitress and had to wait for quite a while when we wanted to order another drink. We spent a lot of extra time than we wanted to waiting around. My positive about this restaurant is that the decor is nice and that they let you modify the dish a bit. We ordered the pasta trio and they let us get two of one type of pasta. The pesto was really good. The deals on Thursday for drinks is good. The bread and butter was really good but an extra $5. Overall? Business owner: please take note of what customers are saying and compromise. If a customer asks for the server to lower the music, staff should be allowed to, even if just a little bit. What sort of "lively atmosphere" are you trying to create on a Thursday night at 7pm with a restaurant 90% empty? Maybe change the vibe of the music based on the time of day. Your decorations say "nice dinner" your music says "sports bar". There is an in between and I know it can be found. I hope everyone can learn something from this review.
