Van Gogh Sandwich and Tomato Basil Soup
    Riad S.

Craved a sandwich and stopped by this very cute corner deli. I was amazed by the friendliness of the owner/lady, the speed of service and the food. I ordered the half soup and half sandwich. The tomato basil soup was delicious. I went with the Van Gogh sandwich. Loved it! The bread was fluffy/fresh unlike most Ciabattas you get at other restaurants. I will definitely return here, there are several other sandwiches I want to try!

This place is fire! Got the roast beef sandwich and side of tomato soup! I didn't expect this in Modesto. It's seriously someone you would expect from New York or Chicago.

Discovery is in the heart up Modesto. The customer service is amazing. We ordered the Mona Lisa sandwich and an iced coffee. The Ambiance in the environment was welcoming in the place was clean. Definitely coming back when I'm back in this area.

Definitely recommend this place! The sandwich was amazing and the drinks were delicious. The owner is so sweet and friendly. He has some comics he brings in to share with customers. The music is relaxing and the view is nice. Please show this place some love

One of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Steak was extremely flavorful and the au jus was strong. The pesto pasta was exceptional and the owner was incredibly kind. Gave me a good recommendation for a sandwich and even gave me a free sample of their tomato and pesto soup which was also delicious. Can't highly recommend enough.

Half of the Let It Be sandwich and half of the Rafael sandwich. The Rafael sandwich came with the side of Au jus dip (not pictured).

First of all the customer service was great. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious we ordered The Rafael sandwich and the Let It Be. They were both absolutely fantastic. The artwork displayed inside the business was all made by the owner, which was absolutely amazing. Even the artwork on the tables are his own art from what I understand. It's definitely very interesting to look around to appreciate all the artwork. We will definitely be returning to try out other menu items and their coffee.

We loved Picasso's! This was my first time here at this restaurant. The staff was super nice and friendly. I am a vegetarian so I asked if I could alter one of the menu items which was a turkey sandwich- and of course they said yes! They added tomato and sprouts and left off the meat! The tomato bisque soup was divine ! Heavenly! So delicious. I will definitely be back. All of the art inside was beautiful as well! Very creative ! Thank you!

This place has always been a favorite of mine. Great tasting fresh sandwiches and the amazing tomato soup. One of the best Sandwich spots in the area in my opinion. They are also super friendly and the service is always very quick. Sometimes it hard to find parking but so worth it .

Pesto Salad and 1/2 Mozart Sandwich

Great Menu. Great Service. Reasonable good pricing. Paid parking lot nearby. If I were to make one change, it would be to make an effort to reduce plastic usage. We ordered one sandwich and two small containers of salads. For some reason, the order taker asked my companion if it was okay to split the sandwich between two containers. So we ended up with two clamshells. Each held 1/2 sandwich and a salad that was already in a plastic container. As a matter of fact, if I were to make two changes, I'd wrap sandwiches in paper to reduce the plastic load (and costs) even more. The food itself was excellent and it was enough food to satisfy the both of us. We were there during the lunch rush so we didn't get to walk around and look at the art on the walls. Maybe next time.

The sandwiches are just on my top 3 list they have soooo many options and are delicious but as I am a creature of habit I get the Spiffy Tiffy every time which consists of pesto, provolone, mushroom, avocado and pepper jack cheese, and their their halal chicken (this is what sets them apart from the other sandwich spots with a chicken option) it is SO good. I don't care for mushrooms but I will get the avocado on a little sometimes. It's a lot of goodness going on. The servers are extremely friendly, and always let you know nicely when your sandwhich is ready they don't just yell your name out even if it gets busy lol Everything is also very clean and sanitary with clean fountain soda areas and tables wiped down. I prefer this location over a lot of other locations because it is very spacious, it's self seating after you order your sandwich and the booths are nice. Some of the ones in the Bay Area there's absolutely nowhere to sit and the lines waaay out the door! So this location is a luxury! I even found one in Vegas off the strip and now one of my best friends is obsessed. Yes it's that good!! You absolutely have to try this, and any sandwhich with their Halal chicken! 10/10!

Sadly disappointed…read more My friends and I stopped by Commonwealth on a Saturday afternoon for a late brunch. It was a beautiful day so it was busy for both indoor and outdoor seating. Here, you order your food, grab a number, and find your own seat for the food to be brought out to you. We sat at a table outside to decide what to order. There were no menus available so we just had to search for it online before heading inside to order. Despite being third in line from the register, we had an extremely long wait to order. There was only one person running the register who also had to make the drinks, meaning the service incredibly slow. We wanted to order the five taco platter, garlic fries, chicken Caesar salad, and mimosa pitcher. Sadly, we were only able to get the pitcher and salad. The cashier told us "sorry, we aren't doing fries right now." Not doing fries? Every plate in the vicinity had fries on them. She said that because it was brunch hour, only food on the brunch menu could be ordered. We looked at the brunch menu again and literally saw garlic fries as an option as a side for the burgers/sandwiches. No where did it specify that you can't order off the other menu and both were available online. What bothered us about this is that we placed this order at around 1:50pm, and brunch ended at 2:00pm. I understand that we are not entitled to things on the lunch menu during brunch-time for items like the tacos, but considering the menu swap was less than 10 minutes away and they were quite literally were "doing fries" at the time, it didn't make much sense to us. The only food that we ended up ordering was the Chicken Caesar Salad. This one dish took a super long time to receive. By the time it was brought out, the three of us nearly finished the Mimosa pitcher. The waitress noticed we had no silverware and said she would go grab us some. Because of how the service had been going thus far, we placed a bet on whether or not the waitress would come back with the silverware. Surprise, surprise. She didn't. We had to go inside later and search for silverware ourselves. We weren't even able to get sharing plates which was upsetting since the waitress asked us if we would be sharing the salad. The salad itself looked delicious, but was bland. The dressing was missing that zing and zest that a Caesar dressing typically has. I do appreciate that is was a chopped salad, had avocado, and seasoned croutons. It is just unfortunate that it was lacking any flavor at all. The food prices are quite affordable for the quantity of food you receive though. This experience was disappointing because I was so optimistic about the place. The menu looked good, it had fun and casual vibes and a cool crowd of people. If Commonwealth worked towards better service practices, it would have been a more positive experience.

The first time we came, it was just after this reel went semi-viral so there were a bunch of people lined up. Upon entering, the staff immediately let us know they were having issues with the kitchen and that they had no idea when it would be back up. We decided to leave and return another time. The second time, I made an online pre-order. I decided to get the meal deal for 4 (and a separate order of the blueberry biscuit fried chicken sandwich) for the most variety. This deal includes: - Chicken Option: 8 pc tenders, 16 pc wings, or 16 pc nuggets. I went with the 16 pc wings. They were heavily battered, and the wings were cooked through and still juicy. I wasn't too wowed by them though. - 2 Sides: I went with the honey mustard pasta salad and chipotle potato salad. The pasta salad was soggier than expected, but flavors of both were pretty good. Chipotle potato had a nice kick. - Loaded Wedges: This was literally a potato quartered into 4 wedges. Tastewise, I really liked the seasoning they used on the potato though. I didn't care for the loaded part (cheese, bacon bits, green onion). - Choice of 5 sauces: Personally, the best part of the meal. Their sauces are on point. I went with the strawberry heat, pineapple pepper, XXX, fuego, honey mustard (accident; I wished I had gotten the hot honey blueberry bbq instead). - 4 Can Drinks: Cool I guess, but wished the deal was focused on the food options. The separate blueberry biscuit with chicken was also only just OK. The biscuit wasn't fluffy or buttery and the blueberries were there visually only (barely any blueberry taste). The chicken was fine and not dry at least! The wait the second time around also wasn't bad. I scheduled a 12:15PM order, and I think I got my food about 15-20 min later. Overall, it was a good one-time try!
