This spot has been my to go for few years now. I like coming here to work, it can get vey loud inside when gets packed especially during lunch hours. They also have outdoor seating patio area, front yard, & backyard. I do want to say be aware mosquitoes in back area {sometimes}, but definitely worth going outside. As coffee I have always gotten Azteca Mocha latte, a bit disappointed now that they no longer have shaved Mexican chocolate added on + add cayenne pepper to drink. I know trying new things, however that's bit too extra adding spice to coffee. I always forget to say no cayenne pepper. Luckily staff always willing to remake it. Staff are super friendly and super welcoming Price not bad for a large ice latte On downside parking is limited! Cute location. But not worth the price. I spent about $24 and some change. I got a iced coffee and was charged $0.75 for the 16 oz. Mind you, my drink already came with oatmilk. So there was no substitution. The sandwich looked good as I was reading the description of the sandwich. The thing that sold me was their focaccia bread for a sandwich, sounds delicious. I really wanted to like this place because of how adorable it looks but I just didn't. I feel like I'm being nice giving this place 2 stars but it's mainly just because the aesthetic of the little house and patio areas.. The frappe I got tasted like dish water and the customer service is terrible. Very dry stale personalities working here and even dirty looks from one of them.. definitely a zero for service and quality. Also the prices suck for what you have to deal with. I had the Queen sourdough BLT. More like a peasant BLT .....Respectfully for the price I think a it needed more of the BLT. It was delicious just not enough substance. Apple turnover of course was fabulous even cold as I wanted it....Service was great and the old fashioned style home made it cozy. People watching was a plus . My daughter absolutely loves this place. The Queen Bean is next to her campus so she frequently comes here after class for breakfast. She's also attended night events here , one night they were playing the movie Craft which is super cool! Very laid-back restaurant chill vibes. Great menu! Her favorite sandwich is the chicken pesto on a homemade focaccia bread. She said it's delicious! Also the Queen Bean blt is really good!! My daughter loves the lavender Matcha with honey. The inside is so cute. It is a cafe made out of a little house. The staff were pleasant and the merch was fun. The coffee was pretty good. I got a vanilla lavender latte and it was yummy. I needed to find a coffee shop to take a meeting and that was dog friendly. The Queen Bean Coffee House popped up and it's a nice little coffee house. Indoor and outdoor seating available. The Caesar salad was good. I opted not to add chicken. The salad was hearty and filling. I like the sun dried tomatoes. Sam the owner came out to say hi and see the puppy. He's very nice. They were quite busy when we stopped by. The place itself is pretty unique and they have both indoor and outdoor seatings. There was an open mic going on while we were there in the backyard so listened to the singing a bit while we enjoyed our breakfast. Can't remember the latte I had but it had a Mexican spice and I enjoyed the drink although I didnt taste much of spice at all to it and I was warned by the cashier about it. I've been wanting to come visit Queen Bean for a while, it's very cute inside and out and I love the twilight decals in the attic window! My BLT was fresh and very good and I was happy to see a little pineapple garnish (I love pineapple!) my drink was superb as well. I gave four stars however because I felt like the customer service was kind of lacking. When I walked in I wasn't greeted and just kind of got stared at for a second by the person up front, it's fine if they were busy doing something else but I just didn't really feel welcomed upon entering. I stood there for a while looking lost since it was my first time and didn't really have anyone prompt me for help. The person who took my order was kind and explained to me to either wait for my name to be called or the buzzer. I visited this cafe after hearing good things from friends, and my mom who also knows the new owners. I was excited to try it, especially since it's considered a hidden gem in Modesto. Note that parking downtown can be difficult. The place has a cozy ambiance as it's in a vintage house, with plenty of seating inside and out. When I walked in, a customer was chatting with the cashier for a while, and I wasn't sure when it was my turn, until the customer stepped back though they kept chatting. There wasn't a warm welcome or much customer service to start, but I let it go. I told the cashier it was my first time and asked about any fall drinks I saw on their Instagram, but she seemed unsure and a bit confused the entire transaction. I ordered an iced chai with pumpkin spice cold foam (even though I don't usually like chai) and enjoyed it as it wasn't too sweet or strong. I also got the breakfast bowl with sausage. It was good, very cheesy which I love. After working for a couple of hours, I placed a to-go order for my boyfriend and me (two drinks and two sandwiches). My order ended up taking over 20 minutes. When the cook handed me the sandwiches in an open box, I asked another worker for a bag so I could carry-out. I saw her go back to the cook, who visibly rolled her eyes and sighed. As someone who also works in food service, I felt bad and apologized for not saying it was takeout when ordering--but they never asked either. Honestly, after this visit, I'm not sure I'd come back on my own. While the drinks were good, the service was underwhelming, and I felt uncomfortable at times, especially when I noticed some older caucasian customers staring at me (a POC woman alone) while I was doing my work. Though that seems to be a common experience living in the Central Valley, that's not at the fault of the business if that is their usual crowd. I had been looking forward to checking this place out since the change in ownership but as I sat at the last concert in the park of the season, trying to hear the music over the obnoxious band 'noise' emanating so loudly from the coffee shop, I was disappointed and felt it was sooooo disrespectful to the patrons of the concert in the park, I now don't want to show my support for Queen Bean. It's a long standing Thursday night summer tradition for a lot of Modesto citizens and I just can't understand why the business owners wouldn't find another night to book a band or at the very least, have the band end before the concert starts. I have been coming here since before the new owners took over. I love what they have done to renovate! They put life back into this coffee house. The backyard sitting area looks amazing and family friendly. The front yard looks well maintained and well thought out. I really appreciate how they have been very involved in the community and I was happy to see previous employees still employeed there! Sometimes when people take over you lose those great employees that have been with the business. My wife and I sat inside and ordered some food. This is very disheartening to post, as I have frequently raved about this spot to my friends, family, and colleagues, and have contributed many years of support to this local business. A friend and I ordered a bagel from another small business, as I have dietary restrictions that limit what I can eat. I thought it would be nice to enjoy a bagel and coffee from Queen Bean Coffee House and spend some time in the ambiance of the establishment. Unfortunately, I was wrong. As soon as we walked in, we were met with odd looks, looks of confusion and, quite frankly, judgment. We didn't think much of it, considering the current state of the country and the fact that many minority groups experience this regularly. We ordered two coffees, spent about $20, sat down, ate, and waited to enjoy our drinks. Shortly after, a man approached me in a very confrontational manner and said, "I'm the owner of this establishment. Don't you think it's rude that you're eating those big bagels in here?" I was shocked by both his tone and his approach toward two young women. I told him that he was being passive-aggressive and speaking in a belittling way. He continued to call us "rude" and said our behavior was disrespectful. This felt incredibly hypocritical, as the disrespectful tone came entirely from him. Not only was he confrontational, but he also attempted to push the "angry" and "loud" stereotype onto me. I am posting this not for him, but to bring awareness to other customers that no one should tolerate attitude or behavior from someone who does not accept them. People like him contribute to the division in this country. If this truly was about a bagel, he could have approached us quietly and respectfully, rather than embarrassing us, drawing attention from the entire restaurant, and making us feel judged, laughed at, and extremely uncomfortable. I am a big supporter of small businesses in Modesto, and I have spoken to many of them about this situation. Not a single one agreed with the owner's approach, tone, or behavior. I hope those who read this review understand that supporting this business means supporting harmful rhetoric that continues to divide our communities. read more

My Lady and I have made this our "Sunday Spot". We've been here several times and from the mimosas (pineapple or pomegranate) to the burrito bowl, the food is great! We've had a chance to speak with the owner a few times and he's a great guy. Their staff is eggggggcellent. Everyone has a great, great attitude. We found the place because of the music they have on Sundays. This Sunday they had a one man band. His name is Nathan Ignacio and he was grrrreat! We enjoyed his songs very much. The outdoor space is just fantastic. They have the right mix of sun and shade. It's great for couples, families and Dogs! We highly recommend this spot and we'll be back..again.
