While this company may not be huge, I would put Clayton's beans against any coffee company including Starbucks, Dutch Brothers, Peets Coffee. While I used to live in California I moved to Oregon, I still get my coffee shipped to me. The coffee is smooth and has a subtle finish. I have converted family in Canada. Came into Clayton today with my girlfriend(1/07/25) and was immediately greeted. It was our first time here so they explained more about their business and the culture they bring to your home through the way of locally roasted coffee ! The lady explained the difference in different type of beans, the different elements of brewing and brewing process to make sure we knew we where getting the right bean for us! We ended up going with half pound of espresso forte and immediately tried it when we got home and it was amazing. This is a roastery and not a cafe, so this review is for the coffee. They currently supply the coffee for Camp Mather (the San Francisco Parks & Rec family camp) and it was phenomenal. I went into camp bringing my own coffee because I'd heard how bad it was and after the first morning I put it back in a box and didn't touch it because the coffee was so good there. I asked & they said this is the coffee this summer and I was blown away. I only wish they had beans to buy at camp on my way out! I will just have to be satisfied with buying online. read more

Years ago (probably a decade by now) I had an ice tea drink in Murphys, Calif., that was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS...when I found I could order the tea directly from Clayton Coffee & Tea, I did -- and they kept my ordering info, so that now, years after my first order, I can still order the same tea and make it here in the south (and you KNOW how us southerners love our ice tea). I am soooo grateful for your company (and your ordering systems!). Best coffee ever! I've also started drinking tea because their selection is so good. This is a whole seller and roaster, not a cafe. It's open to the public during more traditional business hours. So, it's unlikely you'd be able to pick up a bag on the weekend. It's located located a few blocks south of downtown Modesto, toward a more industrial area. read more

This is hands-down the best coffee near our area!! They do not serve brewed coffee here, only whole bean or ground coffee in the amounts you choose. They also sell a variety of teas. I went for the first time today. They do not have a storefront, and it is in an industrial area, not what you would expect, but WOW it is definitely worth it to make your way here to buy their coffees and teas. I looked them up on their website before going in www.claytoncoffee.com and checked out all of their available varieties before going in. Amazing coffee roasters, the rise and shine blend is possibly the best coffee in the Valley. Also as far as flavored coffees go (and typically I am not a fan) the Highlanders Grog served at my favorite local coffee shop is devinity in a cup. read more
