They are premade and warmed up in a m'wave to order....yet they are super-tasty. These burritos are also the most perfectly-sized breakfast burritos I've ever found. They come in chorizo, bean and maybe ham too. The sausage one is excellent. The burritos are a little bigger around than a tennis racquet grip. That may make 'em seem overly skinny, but they're not. How can you go wrong, right? Unfortunately, I discovered today that not all breakfast burritos are created equal. Chatz Roasting Company is a charming hole in the wall spot on 2nd St. @ Mission. And when I say "hole in the wall," I ain't exaggerating. This place is literally the size of a photo booth. I was amazed that two employees could squeeze in there. In any case, I digress. Chatz offers 3 or 4 varieties of breakfast burritos. One with bacon, a vegetarian option, and one with chilies. I wound up ordering the eggs & bacon burrito from the friendly lady behind the counter. Within 3 minutes, I was handed a piping hot burrito wrapped in tin foil with a side of salsa. While walking back to the office, I decided to dive in to my meal. Unfortunately, the burrito didn't really taste like anything. All the ingredients more or less tasted the same. And it wasn't until my 3rd or 4th bite that I realized that my bacon wasn't even fully cooked. I tried my best to salvage the burrito with a heavy dose of salsa. But it wasn't even real salsa. It was like the watery Pace Picante stuff you buy at Safeway. After a few more bites, I finally gave up on my meal. By this point, I was already back in the office. So it was too late to go back and complain and/or request a replacement. At the end of the day, wasting $5 on a mediocre breakfast burrito isn't the end of the world. Don't be fooled by their size, they manage to offer more than SB and have better coffee and better service. They don't take debit cards but they offered to let me come back and pay later. That is great service. I only go about once a week and to offer that made me compelled to come and write my first Yelp review. I visited a client in the area so before my appointment, I decided to grab some breakfast so that my stomach wouldn't growl during my visit. I ordered a bacon burrito and a can of guava juice. The burrito was yum! - the flavors were melded together so tastily, and they give you salsa in a small container. Awesome!! I like to switch it up with Chatz once in a while when I go get coffee in the morning. I usually like good coffee places especially those that give me a discounted price for my coffee for bringing in my own cup. Chatz fills both criteria as they gave me my large coffee for the size of a medium. That's more than the 10 cents I usually save at Starbucks...sorry Starbucks maybe you could try doing the same thing. I must confess that I am not a Chatz regular as it is a detour from my usual route to work, but I come here for those special occasions, like Friday. They are always really friendly and efficient. I love the fact they are independant and take up so little room. The drinks are good and the baked goods (muffins, bagels, pastries, scones) are different - some are amazing! This place really cannot be compared to a coffee shop, as there is no shop, but it exudes it's own charm. Four stars. Update - My friend turned me on to their Cubano espresso drink. For those occassions when caffeine is required, the Cubano is the preferred instrument. And with their lovely espresso roast, it cannot be bettered. I haven't tried the coffee here, but I can vouch for their delicious sandwiches! They recently stopped serving bagels in the afternoon (boo) and added toasted sandwiches to their menu. Sandwiches come in about six different combos, but they're pretty flexible with substitutions/additions. I personally like to order their veggie sandwich with hummus :D. Worth being late for work for. After walking by this little hole-in-the-wall on my way to work for a couple months (and almost always seeing a handful of people lined up) I decided to try it out. Their menu comes complete with really good bagels (unlike Starbucks, they can actually toast them), fuits, a basic menu of espresso drinks, and some tasty-looking pastries. Their espresso is far from ideal, but overall prices are pretty cheap ($1.50 for a bagel), and it's quick and convenient. I'm usually out of there in under five minutes. I work close to this location and was happy to support a local coffee company and not one of the big coffee players. I have a rule that I don't drink coffee outside of my home. I rarely need it and don't need to spend the extra $ on it. Once every few months I NEED a double espresso over ice in the middle of the day. I ordered my double-espresso over ice from Chatz several times. $2.50, perfect. Same price as Starbucks. THEN, one day the gentleman behind the counter decides to charge me $3.00 for my beverage even though the menu states $2.50. "The extra .50 for the ice and the cup." I guess if I had ordered a regular hot double-espresso, he would have served it to me directly from the machine without a cup? If that's not the case, then he charged me .50 for a few ice cubes. Coffee is great. Small house roast is perfect. This morning I decided to give their breakfast burrito a run. Eggs, bacon, potatoes, cheese, salsa - $5.75. Thought, can't hurt to try. Truly the worst burrito of any type I've had in my whole life. I've had a variety of frozen burritos growing up, and they all had more flavor and personality. Of course I ate it, because it was tiny and I was hungry, but dang. Lacking flavor and couldn't tell the ingredients apart. Bacon was mediocre/meager, potatoes not crisp of flavored well, eggs were watery scrambled. The tortilla... was oddly transparent and had an off texture. Salsa helped it go down. Walked by the crepe shack and saw a ham, egg, and cheese crepe for 7$. Will give that a go next time, but will not order another burro from Chatz. Coming back for the coffee though! read more

I've been wanting to check this place out for the longest time and I finally did it today. Although people rave this place of their coffee, I was in mood for some Mexican Hot Chocolate. And what an EXCELLENT choice that was!! It was so good! It's actually HAND-MIXED and it has a perfect amount of sweetness to it. I like my drink HOT, and indeed it was. Small size for $2.75. I also wanted to try their famous bagels, but they were all sold out. I went there a little bit after 11am so I guess it's understandable.
