Love the macadamia nut milk latte. Super friendly and great coffee. Look for the trendy food truck lot, last one in the corner.

The counter service female was very nice and helpful. The sandwich was very good and we've eaten there many times in the past. When we both sat down to eat we noticed that our sandwich hadn't been cut in half. My girlfriend went back to the counter and asked a male kitchen employee behind the counter if he could cut our sandwich in half. The sandwich was completely wrapped in paper and we did not unwrap it at all prior to asking for it to be cut. His response was extremely rude and nasty. He claimed that it was already contaminated despite the fact that it was still completely wrapped in paper. He acted like we were putting him out by us asking him to simply cut the sandwich in half. He accused my girlfriend of "contaminating" the sandwich (in his words) just by touching it despite the fact that it was handled by 2 people before we even touched it. Basically, it was his scolding condescending tone that totally turned us off to ever visiting this place again. It only takes one lazy a--hole employee to ruin a great dining experience.

I am a teacher at a school near by and stopped here for dinner before back to school night. I have always wanted to try Picahna and MAN it didn't disappoint. It was as flavorful S a ribeye ( if not more so). And as tender as a filet. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly, one of the best steaks I have had. Pair that with the house hot sauce and it was simply superb. It didn't stop at the steak, as I said the entire plate was delicious. The rice was well seasoned, the beans were perfectly smokey and the salad was crisp and fresh. On top of the food, the service could not have been friendlier and comforting. I felt very well taken care of and it made the experience that more enjoyable. I will def be back when I have another late night at work and need dinner away from my family in Monterey:

Restaurant has both indoor seating with high and low tables, and outdoor patio seating. Small parking lot. I can imagine this is popular spot in evenings and weekends. We shared: Sampa explosion sampler - pao de queijo, coxinha and croquette. Picanha with salad - #1 recommendation from server. It was delicious juicy steak, 12oz serving is enough to split for 2. Comes with the breaded yucca crumbs which provides little extra crunch. Food tasted fresh. Comes with a bean stew which we tried but not huge fan of. Chicken Paulista - DH thought it was okay, nothing special. Parfait de crema - very sweet, rich and creamy. I was so full after.

Two words: YUM-MO!!!!…read more Laili dishes were flavorful, varied and layered; decor was nice without being snooty; and the service was the right amount of attentiveness. We were a large group of people who hadn't seen each other in a long time, so we had a lot to catch up on, and we also were not able to get there earlier than 1 hour from closing time. Laili not only accommodated us, but also allowed us to stay there over half an hour after closing when they were done cleaning around us! They were incredibly generous with their time and space. Tip: The dining room was very spacious, so I think Laili would be perfect for large groups.

We pride ourselves in eating in some of the best places all over. Bad Animal exceeded our expectation of a 'wine bar' food menu. We had Oysters Miso Black Cod Crostini And I never order dessert it with every bite of food I couldn't pass the opportunity to try what they had to offer. We went with the lemon verbena gelato with fresh blueberries Our server ( we sat at the bar) was very knowledgeable about the wine and food. He took his time explaining every dish which made the experience much more enjoyable. Whenever I get a chance to visit Santa Cruz, I will Make a point to eat here.

The king salmon crudo was beautifully composed, fresh and bright, and the peaches were a standout, simple but perfectly executed. The chicken schnitzel was crispy, well-seasoned, and satisfying in all the right ways. The NY Strip was where things got slightly complicated. The seasoning and flavor were genuinely excellent; the spice profile was spot on and the crust had great character. However, about a third of the cut was too fatty to eat, which was disappointing at that price point. It didn't ruin the experience, but it did feel like a quality-control miss on what was otherwise a beautifully cooked piece of meat. Also, put this steak over something else besides elaborate mixed greens. Service was warm and knowledgeable, and the space has a wonderful energy. Bad Animal is doing something right (for the most part). Hopefully I'll make it back but hoping for a better trim on the steak next time.
