Last night I grabbed a to-go order from Scenic for dinner for the first time. It was a mixed bag, the whole order. The chicken sandwich was the best of the sandwiches, even if it did have the palest tomato I've ever seen on it--a crime since we're in tomato season here in the valley! The fried mushrooms were the best of bunch for sure. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The fries were okay, but they're crinkle cut (objectively the worst shape). The cheesesteak was pretty terrible. It was really burnt and lacked in flavor. I would NOT order this again. It's probably one of the worst ones I ever had. It does not hold up against east coast ones for sure. Do not recommend. All in all, a pretty middling experience and it'll be a while before I give them another shot. read more

Okay, I was recommended to come here for lunch for the knockout burger. I also ordered fries and onion rings. I always start with the side dishes to catch the vibe of a place. Onion rings were burnt and fries weren't crispy. Bad start. But like I said, I was recommended to get the burger. And that was fire. I LOVE scenic drive in first I got the fries but they were not salted but my sister found some salt packets in the bag and then we put in on the fries and shook it and it tastes amazing! Then I got a chocolate milkshake and I was so creamy. I also got a grilled cheese and it was just amazing because it tasted almost like a burger because my dad and mom ordered a giant burger to share. Driving by I always seen large lines at this place, today I decided to stop, customer service was great, found out a little history from the cashier, I ordered the Dempsy peperjack burger, added bacon, I was filled with anticipation to try their products, drove off about 1mi away, pulled over, took a bite and was taken back, the meat had no flavor, tons of onions lettuce avocado and tomato, which helped but the burger looked like a frozen paddy, (you know when you see one) So i tried the fries and the same thing, (im bit of a french fry connoisseur) the fries also were cooked without basic seasoning, and were on the cold side which was odd being less than five minutes away! The frys also looked frozen, and they appeared be from the bottom of the bag! Being that they open at eleven I thought it odd to have these fries at such low quality! Its a nice nostalgic place, but in my perspective they either need a cook that isnt afraid to season, or get out of the buisness, for $17. We were craving some good drive-in food and decided to walk to Scenic Drive-In. I had the Giant Cheeseburger with a small side of fries. I also had a large Orange Cream Shake. Everything was so delicious and flavorful. My wife had The Knock-Out Fries and a large soda. This is my second time coming here and I have been happy on both occasions. Somehow I convinced myself that a rough work day, along with the fact that there was a reprieve from the rain, meant that I needed a burger and shake for lunch (don't give me any points for skipping the fries- I typically don't like fries, so it wasn't like I was making a sacrifice.) I've been by this little throwback burger stand many, many times and have been wanting to try it, so today was my lucky day! We both ordered the "Giant Cheeseburger" and a shake- me a caramel, my friend peanut butter. Everything was really good. The burger comes with one bun covered with a thin spread of mustard, the other side with the mayo and the usual suspects: onion, pickle, lettuce and a nice thick slice of a deliciously flavorful tomato. The shakes were good- buyer beware that the large size is really large. All-in-all, a great place to grab a burger.
