Yall. I HIGHLY recommend Si Papa's! Unfortunately the space wont be there much longer so we definitely missed the boat on going back more than once, but wow, talk about a dine that left an impression. I was highly suspicious of a place that only served one thing, but I was SO wrong. Honestly, I'm not a big pasta/lasagna person (I'm a type one diabetic) hence my hesitation to have checked out the space, but I packed my insulin and we were on our way. We had both lasagnas that were on the menu (the traditional and the mushroom) and of course we HAD to have the tiramisu. They honestly made the BEST lasagna I've had to date out of such a small kitchen. If I had eaten there earlier, I definitely would have come back again and again. Seeing how good this space was definitely makes me want to go check out their sister restaurant Cotoletta! GO TO SI PAPA'S NOW BEFORE THEY'RE GONE!

Delicious! Try the lasagna! .... Both options are fantastic. The bolognese is super meaty but you can definitely taste the cream and hints of nutmeg. The mushroom lasagne is a dream, creamy and packed with shrooms. Get yourself some wine and finish off with tiramisu... it's to die for. The place is super cozy.. perfect fit a date. Or some intimate conversations with friends.

For a place that only serves two different versions of the same dish it HAS to be exceptionally good and delicious. These lasagnas leave a lot to be desired and they are, I'm assuming, premade and then reheated. I tried the vegan one on my first visit and then the traditional on my second visit to give them a fair chance and review. Although they're not terrible, the dishes need some work. The only thing I was impressed with was the tiramisu. Also the alcohol situation is wine and a few beer options. Space is limited and no reservations. Again, it wasn't terrible but not worth the hype. Hence why I never listen to any food "bloggers" on TikTok or IG.

Yesterday we stopped by here for an early dinner after reading about Si Papa on Yelp. If you are looking for a very comfortable, nicely decorated, small, casual, friendly bar restaurant with excellent service in Coconut Grove, then this is your place! If you are stressed out and don't want to read a long menu and then make decisions on what to eat, then this is your place. They serve only 2 main dishes: meat lasagna and vegan lasagna. That's it for main courses. Dessert is Tiramisu. Their bar has a good variety of wines. It was too early for us so we passed. Very simple and easy. I love this concept! They are located on Commodore Ave to the right of Lokal restaurant. I didn't see a sign so we just looked for the 3190 sign and walked on in. We were nicely greeted by the host and got the best seats at the bar. They were very comfortable high stools. My daughter and I wanted to try both lasagnas so we each ordered one of each and then split them. We are not vegan but we are open-minded about trying new foods. Our servers were Omar and Matteo, who were friendly, quick, and helpful. We were seated quickly and served quickly. We were given a complimentary glass of delicious green olives while we decided what to order. We both loved the meat lasagna but thought the vegan one was just ok. There is no side dish of bread, which was disappointing and I hope they add it in the future. Some hot garlic buttered crusty slices or rolls would've hit the spot perfectly. The Tiramisu dessert was very good and melted in my mouth. We had a good time and will return again in the future. We parked on the street about a half block away. It was a short walk past little shops and restaurants and beautiful trees.

Tiramisu - in the prep tray

Talk about super specialized! I came by this last Sunday to grab dinner and catch up with a friend and try a place that served literally only lasagna and tiramisu. Knowing that they don't take reservations, we lucked out on a rainy evening since we didn't have to wait outside. Sitting at the dimly lit bar, we were attended to rather quickly, and they didn't have to wait too much for our meal either. In the interest of research, we ordered both the vegetarian and the meat lasagna. Heavy on the pesto, and filled with peas, the vegetarian lasagna was not too bad. I did get most of my portion for takeout. (I'm a hardcore meat eater so I'll add some grilled chicken when I eat it.) (3.5/5) Then my favorite: the meat lasagna. The noodles had a nice, past al dente texture well stuffed with the meat Bechamel and portion of red sauce. I amped mine with black pepper powder for a little extra spice. The portion was also sizable enough for me between trying the two dishes that I also had leftover for lunch. The tiramisu was nice and creamy, and I could almost taste notes on some coffee liquor; I liked it! I guess since it was the last portion they had left we were served it on a prep tray instead of plates. Not bad of itself, but little details! My glass of Chianti was robust and dry enough to ease away the Sunday scaries. I don't think they have a full cocktail or wine menu, but they do have a pretty good selection of whites and reds for the evening.

Upon walking into the restaurant we were greeted by the host/waiter, he was so friendly and accommodating, we immediately felt welcomed. The restaurant has limited seating so arriving early on a Tuesday only had us waiting 10 minutes for a table in the back to open up. Their menu only has two lasagna options, I opted for the vegetarian option because I love pesto. This was the best lasagna I've had in a while. It was so light with the cream, pesto, and zucchini. I finished eating and immediately knew I'd be returning. We ordered the tiramisu for dessert and it was the perfect way to end the night. One of the better tiramisus I've had in Miami. Looking forward to coming back (and ordering the same thing)!

The definition of a whole in the wall. The space is small but that adds to its charm. I love the idea of having two options and no matter which entree you choose, it'll be amazing. They have some great wine choices too! Our waiter also ran through the wine list and made suggestions. The lasagnas came out quick and then dessert. Before I get into how it tasted, I need to share that this place holds my favorite restaurant experience to date. Our waiter asked what we wanted and we said we all wanted a piece of the tiramisu, he then returned with the tray and plates and and asked if we wanted for him to cut individual pieces or to leave the tray since it was the last bit left. My table, without missing a beat replied, "leave the tray." We finished it and scraped the sides. It was delicious.

Really enjoyed this hole in the wall! It's really a hole in the wall, we walked past the entrance twice and missed it hahah. Staff was great, service was fast since lasagnas were prepared in advance and they pop them in to get reheated and serve them to you. That was interesting to see. I thought "do i like that"? Didn't give the impression of fresh and they covered the pre-made lasagnas on the counter with a towel alongside dirty plates. If you overlook the process they have, this would be a 5 star. Side note: it was really warm inside as well which took away slightly from the experience. On to the good stuff.. The bartender we had was great and i wish i remembered his name, he let me taste two wines to see which one i liked best, and checked in on us often, provided extra cheese, salt and was really on it. Food came out, and it was incredible! Not like omg the best lasagna i have ever had in my entire life good BUT probably 2nd place. We got one of each and of course the tiramisu. The veggie lasagna was unique and i really really loved the pesto on there, the bolognese was a classic i loved the flavor of the beef. And the creamy coffee tiramisu was also a star, you can't skip on it. Overall, if the line is short and i wanted Italian i would probably stop by again or try the parent restaurant Cotoletta and give them a try. Cute place, yummy food, went for the hype and was not disappointed. Chao!

When you first walk in, the bar is cute and the music is good, setting a nice ambiance. It is very small in here. I saw that there usually is a line, so we were lucky not to wait. We were seated in the back where there were a few tables. It was hot and we were sitting on top of the people next to us (who were talking extremely loudly). We were unable to talk to one another because of this. Onto the food: I like the concept of perfecting a small menu. We ordered one of the red classic lasagnas and one of the green veggie pesto ones. We were unfortunate enough to see the bartender microwaving these lasagnas for 5 minutes before serving. Heating up is one thing but putting them in for 5+ minutes in a micro before serving turned us off. The actual flavor of the lasagna was quite good. I preferred the bolognese lasagna and my sister loves pesto and preferred the other. The tiramisu is tasty. i really liked the fluffy cream. I wish the espresso notes came through stronger.

Went to check out this lowkey hole-in-the-wall which was hyped up in social medial as a locals-only spot - it's from the makers of Cotoletta, a higher priced similar only one-item menu concept, except Cotoletta's menu is at a much higher cost of $80 for veal parm (Cotoletta is just a few feet away). Ironically, when the bill comes, the name at the top is LOKAL Burger, which is largely a burger joint literally next door (I coincidentally tried Lokal just the week before by pure luck w/o knowing Si Papa was next to it - I'll review Lokal separately). So, looks like Si Papa and Cotoletta are all part of the Kush Hospitality Group. The ambience for Si Papa is hole-in-the-wall chic - the place is small (maybe 9-10 feet wide, by 25 feet or so deep). There's minimal sitting as can be expected from a small space - they call themselves a 'lasagna bar' l, so to match that, 50% of their sitting is at the bar; they also offer 7 small 2 person tables, and one larger booth at entrance that can sit 6 to 8. No reservations. As most know (if you know about the place), all they sell are 2 types of lasagna (meat or vegetarian), hence the lasagna bar, plus tiramisu as dessert. They also sell wine and a few basic soft drink options. All and all, the vibe is a 'locals-only' one that you only know if you've been told about it, which is what I'm guessing they were going for - mission achieved. Staff is friendly, attentive and VERY accommodating. I'd rate them at 5 stars without a doubt. It helps when the place is small and you only have 3 items to offer with minimal seating, so complexity is almost non-existent. THE SUBJECT DISH: I chose the meat lasagna: it is made in traditional in style, meaning, made in baking pans and cut into pieces that are later reheated in an oven. The square seems large, but it's on the thin side. I don't know if they make their lasagna fresh and served on same day, but generally lasagna is made a day before so it can be cooled in the fridge and left to settle / get sturdy - this helps cut it into rectangles or squares which you then reheat by baking in the oven the next day. Again, I don't know whether theirs it's made on the same day, but it did feel that way as it was not too firm (but it wasn't mushy either, it was in between). The disappointing part: for a place that ONLY sells 2 types of lasagna, and markets itself as a 'lasagna bar', I expected the classic meat lasagna to be 'awesome', if not to say: to blow any competition away with flavor. No such case. While there's nothing wrong with it, there's also nothing special setting it aside from any other non-Italian restaurant that sells a lasagna. Except for those restaurants that serve you a runny mush of an excuse of a lasagna. The one thing that does set this place aside is that theirs costs only $15, and that's a great price. So if you need a cheap lunch or dinner and are nearby, by all means you should try this place. Else, it's not worth going out of your way, not even for the lower price, because I can tell you that whatever you save on the lasagna, they make up for by charging you $7 for a simple $0.50 can of coke - that's quite a markup - I would have expected no more than $3.50-$4 for a can from a place like this. THE DESSERT: The one dessert offered, a tiramisu, was also basic; and served right at the table from a similar lasagna-style bake pan. The portion was healthy. As far as flavor, it falls shorter from that of the lasagna - I'd say it's average at best. You don't want to take a trip for this. Worst yet, I actually had 2 or 3 bites and had to stop: the cream is heavy and the 'lady fingers' are almost non-existent, plus the coffee liquid filling in the lady fingers is devoid of any sweetness so it's bitterness contrasts too much against the sweeter and heavier cream. I'm a guy who eats super heavy desserts and there was something off here - I felt the cream was starting to bloat me instantly after just a few bites, so I stopped. My server appropriately removed the dessert from the bill without me having to ask, so kudos for proper service again. She advised she'd let the chef know - hopefully she will. Since tiramisu was removed from check, I don't know how much it costed, IL VERDETTO: service is a 5, meat lasagna is a 3 and the tiramisu is a 2. Overall I'm giving this place a 3 because of great service and the low price of their main dish. Anything higher would be a hard sell.

I was finally able to snag a seat at Si Papa, and it was worth the wait. Their sister restaurant, Cotoletta, is already a personal favorite of mine, so I was eager to see if the buzz around their lasagna lived up to the hype flooding my Instagram feed. Well...it absolutely did. I stopped in for lunch, and while the restaurant was busy, the service never skipped a beat. Sitting at the bar turned out to be a great choice. The bartender was warm, personable, and took the time to share details about the quality and freshness of their ingredients. I went with the Bolognese lasagna, and it was superb. The noodles were tender and silky, the layers rich and unctuous, and the Bolognese sauce was deeply flavorful. Comforting, yet refined. At $15 for lunch, it's a steal compared to many spots in Coconut Grove. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try the vegetarian lasagna and the tiramisu the servers raved about. Si Papa has definitely earned a spot on my radar.

Si papa was the perfect place to have dinner on a Sunday evening. The restaurant is very small and it's mostly high tops. We decided to sit in the bar/ kitchen area. The waiter was very young and with an accent that sometimes made it hard to understand what he was saying. But he still provided good service. The place just has three things in the menu, a beef lasagna, veggie lasagna and tiramisu. I ordered the three options. The beef lasagna was ultimately my favorite because it was so tasty but the veggie lasagna was good as well. For the tiramisu I received in the container it was prepared which I didn't like. I wanted in a plate that I could take pictures and have it look nice. However, it had great taste and was your classic tiramisu flavor.

An opulent failed attempt at fine dining…read more At first glance, the place is impressive -- beautiful cars outside, constant traffic of guests walking in, crisp white tablecloths setting the stage for what appears to be a refined dining experience. Unfortunately, the illusion fades rather quickly. The first sign of trouble arrives with the server sporting a rather impressive lip piercing, followed closely by a colleague whose diamond nose stud could probably be seen from space. Not exactly the ambiance one expects when aiming for "elegant." Despite the abundance of servers floating around the dining room, none seem to notice when your knife dramatically dives off the table and lands on the floor -- where it enjoys a long, lonely stay. Water service is also quite innovative: they simply leave the entire bottle at the table, which seems less about generosity and more about avoiding the inconvenience of returning to refill your glass. The food? Sadly just as uninspired. From the octopus to the $68 Milanese, every dish managed the impressive feat of being completely flavorless. The Milanese arrived with a beautiful crust, which raised hopes... until you realized there was no sauce, no garnish, and nothing to rescue what turned out to be a remarkably bland plate. Meanwhile, the staff appears deeply committed to minimizing effort -- though not shy about judging you directly when the tip doesn't meet their expectations. All in all, this place feels like fine dining in costume. Perhaps a return to the basics of hospitality and service would be a good start... followed by a serious conversation with whoever is currently in the kitchen. Good luck to anyone brave enough to give it a try.

Chocolate cake was the best. Banana flambe was fun to watch but the result was much less than stellar. Cost - This may just be the priciest Italian-esque restaurant that I have ever been to. I still think about these two dishes to this day. Inside is quite cozy for a nice dinner or happy hour meal, but note it's quite small so seating can be taken up fast - inside was busy. The service is very hospitable, the waiter really took his time to describe the dishes and recommend what tastes/dishes would pair best with what.

A restaurant experience starts with the host/ess up front. We arrived on a Thursday night without…read morea reservation but we were willing to wait, and timidly asked for a table. The hostesses (2) told us 45', we agreed. I asked to go to the bar to have drinks, we were told we couldn't (the bar had some open seats). I said OK, I'll order the drink and we wait outside, hostess was annoyed at that suggestion. She said if we wanted a drink, we'd have to go to their sister restaurant (which was packed). After 1hr 15' (we stayed outside waiting, no drinks), we checked in and the hostess rudely told us that she can't foresee when people will leave. So we took our $350 check to Hillstones, where they value regulars. We have dined at Luca before and love their food, but seems like success has gotten to the hostess' heads. Restaurants, especially in Miami, succeed and survive from the loyal locals, not from tourists nor fads. Seems that Luca has forgotten that. We're happy to take our business elsewhere, even a chain restaurant who values repeat customers.

We ordered the Valentina and King Bee cocktails to start and they came out delicious! Highly recommend. For entrees we ordered the fettuccine bolognese and the short rib tortellini. We joined the clean plate club with both of these dishes and didn't leave a crumb. For desert we had the espresso martinis tiramisu and once again cleaned the plate. Safe to say the dishwashers were fans of us. The service was impeccable. Food and drinks came out quick, waters were refilled promptly, and our server Alessandro made sure we were taken care of. This is a great date night spot and I would definitely put this place on your radar when in the Brickell area.

Very disappointing experience…read more I ordered the seafood pasta, priced at $34, and was shocked by how small the portion was. The dish felt more like an appetizer than an entrée. For the price, the value was simply not there. The tiny table made the experience even worse, leaving almost no room for plates, drinks, or personal items. Instead of enjoying the meal, I felt cramped and uncomfortable the entire time. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was genuinely disappointing. Charging premium prices while serving such small portions is embarrassing. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning. Shame on them!!!! Please don't go.
