This is the true definition of what a bistro is supposed to feel like. Unpretentious and welcoming with no frills. Small, cozy, simple and casual. The menu is concise, to the point and mainly focused on traditional and/or comfort food in this case Italian. I can't believe I had it saved for so many years but today I got to experience some of the best food I've had in the city with the most remarkable service ever. This is a family owned restaurant and as a customer I felt as family too. Beto, the owner, makes you feel like part of his extended family from the moment you step foot in the joint and all throughout your culinary adventure. I hadn't made reservations and he made sure to find me a table for one even though it was super busy at the time. He also recommended a few dishes but ultimately convinced me to try one of the chef's specials which I've been talking about till this day. His staff is also very attentive and diligent. Having said that let me break down what I ate with a nice chilled glass of wine: Antipasto: Burratina...Fresh homemade burrata mozzarella on top of thin slices of prosciutto, basil and extra-virgin olive oil. Served with roasted red peppers and tomatoes. All fresh and with high quality ingredients without a doubt. I wanted something light before the pasta and this was very filling so I couldn't finish it but... Entre: Chef's special...Pappardelle Patagonia. Green flat homemade noodle with vodka sauce, Italian sausage, pancetta, mushrooms and fresh herbs. This was one of the best pasta dishes I've had in my life. Perfectly cooked "al dente" with a creamy vodka sauce that'd have you wanting to lick the damn plate. That Italian sausage was also so divine and they don't skimp on portions or ingredients. I'm glad Beto suggested this one instead of the Pappardelle Italian sausage. Dolci: cheesecake. I have no idea how I still had a little bit of room for dessert after that feast but this cheesecake was all worth it. Not overly sweet and very rich and velvety. This is arguably one of the best Italian joints in town. Just delicious Italian comfort food made with love and excellent service to got with it. Beto offered an espresso to end this extraordinary meal. He takes the time to go to every table and make sure customers are taken care of and that's what makes the difference. I'm giving this restaurant 3.5 stars because even though the food was delicious, the service was not as great as I would've liked. It was a Friday evening and we did not have reservations but we were still seated. The staff told us that we would be timed and had to give up the table within an hour of being seated because they had a reservation coming in around that time. We agreed that it was fine as long as they were able to serve us our food within that time. Parking was a mission of course because most places in Miami are not easy to find parking for. I parked in a garage behind the restaurant but if you're lucky/patient/not in a rush you can probably find street parking. The food was pretty good. I would recommend this restaurant if looking for decent Italian food in the area. I also would come back if someone invited me or suggested an outing at this restaurant. The only other downside to this visit sadly had to do with the service. At one point as the sun was setting, my seat was the only one on the terrace with no shade, and the sun was B L A Z I N G and obviously very bright. And it was directly in my line of sight, and at one point I could not take it anymore and kindly asked one of the employees if it would be okay to move the umbrella in a slightly different angle so it could also offer me some shade. He declined my request and said it could not be moved because then the other guests would be uncomfortable. After a few minutes he realized that the other guests were also being affected because obviously as the sun is setting the light is moving and the umbrella is no longer serving its purpose, and then he moved the umbrella and fixed the issue. read more

Fratellino is a small, authentic Italian restaurant in Coral Gables with great food. I imagine it must get pretty packed during season. We liked our waiter who was friendly and helpful. We tried the tricolor salad which was fresh and excellent, and fried provolone in a delicious orange sauce with oregano and peas - also very tasty. For mains, we tried the spaghetti bolognese because I'm a sucker for a great bolognese with the hearty red sauce and a delicious sliced sausage home made pasta dish which I believe was one of the specials. Loved this place! Came here for lunch and it did not disappoint! It's a small, cute restaurant that has indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside. They brought out this warm loaf of bread that was soft and fluffy on the inside with a nice crunchy crust on the outside and it was served with a small bowl of diced tomatoes mixed with olive oil and a little bit of garlic. I could of had just that and be happy and satisfied. I love a good bolongese and could not resist ordering it. The pasta was a little bit over cooked for me but that sauce was delicious. We had a lovely dining experience. To start, the owner called ahead of time to let me know we would be at the table closest to the door. I have never had a restaurant call in advance just to let me know what to expect, felt like they cared before we even arrived. The table location was certainly not a problem, definitely enough space and not much traffic as it's a smaller restaurant. We were served warm bread and diced tomatoes, soooo good, able to make your own bruschetta essentially. We then shared the eggplant and burratina--both fantastic (and I don't even usually like eggplant!). For mains we had the veal parm, carbonara, agnolotti, and salmon--each dish was excellent, everyone loved their choice. The carbonara was tasty, though worth noting it's made with cream rather than the traditional style. The entree portions were large which I appreciate, we all took home leftovers. The owner was a gem, one of those people who instantly makes you feel like you've known him forever, so friendly, welcoming, and fun. During our last day in Miami, my friend and I wanted to have a nice dinner. We had walked around the miracle mile neighborhood a couple days prior and really liked the night scene since it's calm and classy so we decided to try this place for dinner based on reviews. We did not make reservations since we decided a couple hours before but, the owner himself sat us down at any table outside and treated us like queens. The bread we were given as a starter was incredible, especially with the finely diced tomato topping that went with it. I forgot the name of the dish I chose but it was a special and had green fettucine with shitake mushrooms, Italian sausage, and peas (I don't think these were supposed to be included but I had no problem with them) all dressed in vodka sauce. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauce was tasty with a nice balance of savory and creamy. There was a generous amount of everything, so each bite was packed with flavor. Since we were leaving the next day, I couldn't pack any of it to go, but the serving size was definitely bigger than my appetite especially after the bread. My friend ordered the lasagna and it looked, smelled, and tasted good as well. The owner is very high energy, and went around to each table cracking jokes, getting to know people, and just trying his best to make you feel at home. I would highly recommend!
