I've been here three times now and each time has been fantastic. I always start out with the patate fritte, it comes with a cream sauce and truffle with little potato balls. It's definitely a crowd pleaser. It's always the best appetizer to order. For my entrée I ordered the rock shrimp pasta, and I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed it. The only thing that was a negative is that the shrimp was cut up into tiny pieces and it gets lost in the pasta. I would definitely order this pasta dish again, but it's just something to keep in mind. For dessert, we ordered the pistachio ice cream dessert and the tiramisu. Love this place. To start they accommodated a last minute no reservation for 6. Then the service was beyond compare. The recommendations and the diligence were white glove level. Sitting outside in this beautiful setting watching the crowds is perfect for a warm summer evening. But the food was the true star. The steak for the table was perfectly cooked. A fantastic experience all around. There were many things about this menu that excited my wife and I. First of all, a Negroni menu for me and a Spritz menu for her. We tried a couple different drinks- Mulberry Street ($19) was one of my favorites. Great if you like Whiskey and Amaro drinks. Secondly, we're huge fans of olives and Caesar salads; two things that seem to be staples of the menu. The Marinated Olives ($8) were prefect. The Cacio e Pepe Caesar ($19) was well dressed and covered in an impressive cloud of finely shredded parm. Came on a Saturday night and this place was PACKED. Do not even bother coming here if you don't have reservations- we were on standby for almost an hour waiting to see if someone would cancel or someone would leave at the bar. Alas, we got seated at the bar! We got the focaccia bread as an appetizer and that was the best part. The bread was DEVOURED in less than 10 minutes- crispy, soft, and so flavorful. For our main, we got the caccio de pepe & lemon pasta. The lemon pasta was amazing but the caccio de pepe was too cheesy and creamy for my liking (preference thing I know). I took a star away because no matter how fancy a restaurant is, I'm a firm believer you should be able to modify your meal. I wanted to add protein- they wouldn't do that. I asked for some garnish and they said the chef refuses to do that so we can just put it on the side (so silly)! I was too afraid to ask for red pepper flakes in case the chef refused that too! Server was very kind and upfront about the modifications which I appreciated. He even advocated for me to get some garnish on the side lol. I came to Luca Osteria a few years ago and continued to think about the amazing potatoes. So creamy, great hint of truffle, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The potatoes once again did not disappoint. If you let me, I could just eat bowl after bowl! We also got straciatella as another appetizer and it was super fresh. A couple of friends and I stopped by for dinner a recent Saturday, since we were craving pasta and good Italian dishes. I specifically was looking forward to some good Tony Soprano style red sauce, Sunday Gravy kind of bites. Our evening started off great, our waitress was pleasant and educated us on the wine names (the wine list only shows bottled but they do have some wines by the glass). I loved the two glasses of Poggio Nardone Rosso di montalcino that was substituted for the Chianti I wanted. The shared appetizer of straciatella with Sullivan street bread, and truffle honey add on was a perfectly sweet & creamy contrast to the thinly sliced prosciutto. (5/5 on wine and appetizers). Then came our main courses. As I said, in my intro, I was looking for some good red sauce pasta. From the menu, I ordered the short rib bolognese. While the beef in the pasta was hearty and smoky, it was dry in the sense that I am a big fan of red sauce. This plate they don't have any, and I had to order - and likely pay for - an extra service of marinara. To its credit, it did enhance my pasta dish from a 3 to a 4. Still and all , the pasta was a little too close to Al Dente for my taste. Therefore, I am giving it 3/5. I have a well documented, sweet tooth, and ordered for us to share a chocolate and pistachio dessert. One of my friends compared to Italian mochi since the crust was a little hard. We actually had to press some to eat the dish, and while the chocolate was yummy, we barely tasted pistachio (4/5). The restaurant has outside seating, but we decided to sit on the inside, for which reservations are required. The space is really cozy and although they do have some acoustic panels, it can get loud. My husband and I haven't had a chance to get to the East Coast for the "good pasta and good people" at Luca Osteria in almost a year but we were thrilled to be able to grab a couple seats at the bar when they opened on our anniversary last Saturday. It is such a testament to a well ran restaurant to maintain staff so seeing so many familiar faces was reassuring that they're still as good as we remember. And we were not disappointed!! Last time we came on a week night so our service was a bit more intimate but Juan and Ian at the bar were excellent. Just like last time we made friends with people around us at the bar and even shared the Patate Fritte with a solo-diner. We didn't know but the Patate Fritte has actually gone viral and made the restaurant even more popular--if you can imagine. But the all star standout for me will forever be the Tuna Caprese. Honestly it might be my favorite dish anywhere period (not even exaggerating). Since it was a busy weekend night we got to people watch and admire the staff's seemingly flawless ability to work together. It was ultra special to see the Chef pop out from the kitchen here and there. Did you know Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli participated at the Pebble Beach Food and Wine Festival in 2025?? We didn't either!! We wound up staying for dinner and shared 2 pastas, the mushroom appetizer and the famous Patate fritte. The grilled wild mushrooms were delicious and enough for the table of 6 to share. I mentioned on my reservation which was an issue in and of itself but going on our server was very rude and also seemed to be bothered with any question we had. He said he would make sure he would accommodate me but at the end he simply didn't care. It was concerning the manager's (PJ) handling of it--abrupt, dismissive, and lacking the level of professionalism I would expect from a restaurant of Luca's reputation. It was a very rainy night and they were able to let us get a couple seats at the bar. Instead of canceling our outdoor seating reservation. I really appreciate that. To start we got drinks and ordered the Greta which has a nice lemon drop flavor. For our starters we order the local stracciatella with black honey truffle and it was delicious! Perfect toasted bread with the black honey truffle it gives it that added touch light sweetness. We also had the patate fritte and they mixed the yolk for us. It was delicious and so filling so if you order it be careful you don't get full from it. For our main meal we each ordered a different dish. My niece ordered the special which was a gnocchi in brown butter sauce. The gnocchi was thin and light and the sauce was really good not too sweet. I ordered the rock shrimp aglio e olio and that was very tasty and filling. We definitely took home leftovers so we didn't get dessert. The creamy yolk and truffle flavors in the cream sauce was the perfect start to a great meal. We then moved to the pasta al limone and then short rib bolognese. Both pastas complimented each other so well, and I would say the simple, but absolutely delicious lemon pasta was the star. We were completely stuffed and had no space for non-carb options or dessert, which was disappointing because I wanted to try everything!
