From start to finish this place is 9.5/10. I'll explain later. I took my girlfriend here for date night, this place came highly recommended to me by a coworker. Once we arrived the hostess greeted us and sat us in a nice outdoor seating that was cozy for the two of us. Our server was prompt and very polite. Have been taking a few moments to get settled all the things that we want to try on the menu the server has been popular investigations and even included the special of the day with a 48 ounce ribeye. I couldn't pass the opportunity. The steak absolutely cooked to perfection and melts in your mouth. As for the other star of the show, the Patate Fritte, trust me just order it. You never had potatoes like this in your life. The drinks were delicious and paired well. It started to rain a bit and we got quickly accommodated inside to have dessert. The tiramisu did not miss, smooth. Now the reason I didn't give it the last .5 earleir was simply a trick for you to read all this and for me to go try the rest of the menu. read more

Fantastic experience at Luca in Coral Gables! From the moment I sat down, bartenders Evita and Oliver made me feel right at home. Both were incredibly warm, welcoming, and hospitable--exactly the kind of people you want behind any bar. It was my first visit, and Oliver offered some excellent recommendations, including the short rib bolognese, which was fantastic. A unique and delicious take on a classic dish. I wasn't planning on ordering dessert, but I can never say no to panna cotta, and it was absolutely worth the extra calories! Beyond the food and service, Luca has a wonderful neighborhood feel and a great vibe. I was dining alone on a business trip and grabbed a seat at the bar, which turned out to be the perfect choice. A restaurant experience starts with the host/ess up front. We arrived on a Thursday night without a reservation but we were willing to wait, and timidly asked for a table. The hostesses (2) told us 45', we agreed. I asked to go to the bar to have drinks, we were told we couldn't (the bar had some open seats). I said OK, I'll order the drink and we wait outside, hostess was annoyed at that suggestion. She said if we wanted a drink, we'd have to go to their sister restaurant (which was packed). After 1hr 15' (we stayed outside waiting, no drinks), we checked in and the hostess rudely told us that she can't foresee when people will leave. So we took our $350 check to Hillstones, where they value regulars. We have dined at Luca before and love their food, but seems like success has gotten to the hostess' heads. Restaurants, especially in Miami, succeed and survive from the loyal locals, not from tourists nor fads. Seems that Luca has forgotten that. We're happy to take our business elsewhere, even a chain restaurant who values repeat customers. read more

The patate fritte is one of the most unique appetizers I've ever had! It's a must try! The steak also gets an honorable mention from me, the meat practically melted in my mouth. I still think about these two dishes to this day. Inside is quite cozy for a nice dinner or happy hour meal, but note it's quite small so seating can be taken up fast - inside was busy. Luca Osteria is good, and dare I say, they are very good. Their pasta really is fresh and you can taste it. And they are masters at all things pesto. We added the stracciatella to our pasta and it put it on a whole different playing field. Every bite was a combination of fresh cheese, perfectly cooked pasta and some of the best pesto you can find. The one thing I did find a bit underwhelming was the pistachio dessert which was nothing more than pistachios sprinkled over vanilla ice cream. I think there was a lot of creativity left on the table for that one. The wait staff was nice and always ready to refill our water and the outside patio was absolutely delightful with its people watching and lack of cars on the street. This place is definitely worth checking out but be aware that it is a very premium price for pasta so perhaps plan it for a very special occasion. read more

So truth be told I have been back to Luca many times since my first review. I've been back in groups, on date nights and enjoyed every other visit except for my first. The food is just amazing - one of those places that you think won't be as good as you remember it; but then it not only meets but exceeds your memory. We are big fans of the stracciatella, prosciutto appetizers and the lemon pasta. But truthfully have never had a dish that we didn't enjoy. We've been a few times, last minute and sat at the bar. Anita and Jose are a big reason why we love this place and give it 5 stars. They are awesome and always make us feel special. All the staff is great but these two are always on it. This is my favorite Italian spot in miami! It's incredibly consistent and has never let me down. The go-to spot to take family and friends visiting from out of town. Truly everything you order will be incredible here. This dish has table side presentation where they crack a yolk and blend the potatoes with truffle. An awesome blend of textures and flavors. The pastas were also on point. I tasted the Shortrib bolognese, the pasta al limon, and the sea bass Alla Dama. All were very well executed with high quality ingredients and delicious. The most simple dish, was probably my favorite, the Pasta Al Limon. I wouldn't miss the cocktails either as the white Negroni Chiaro was awesome and left me wanting more and the Maya was crafted with high quality ingredients and found a really cool balance between the banana and the Tequila. I've been here three times now and each time has been fantastic. I always start out with the patate fritte, it comes with a cream sauce and truffle with little potato balls. It's definitely a crowd pleaser. It's always the best appetizer to order. For my entrée I ordered the rock shrimp pasta, and I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed it. The only thing that was a negative is that the shrimp was cut up into tiny pieces and it gets lost in the pasta. I would definitely order this pasta dish again, but it's just something to keep in mind. For dessert, we ordered the pistachio ice cream dessert and the tiramisu. Came on a Saturday night and this place was PACKED. Do not even bother coming here if you don't have reservations- we were on standby for almost an hour waiting to see if someone would cancel or someone would leave at the bar. Alas, we got seated at the bar! We got the focaccia bread as an appetizer and that was the best part. The bread was DEVOURED in less than 10 minutes- crispy, soft, and so flavorful. For our main, we got the caccio de pepe & lemon pasta. The lemon pasta was amazing but the caccio de pepe was too cheesy and creamy for my liking (preference thing I know). I took a star away because no matter how fancy a restaurant is, I'm a firm believer you should be able to modify your meal. I wanted to add protein- they wouldn't do that. I asked for some garnish and they said the chef refuses to do that so we can just put it on the side (so silly)! I was too afraid to ask for red pepper flakes in case the chef refused that too! Server was very kind and upfront about the modifications which I appreciated. He even advocated for me to get some garnish on the side lol. A fantastic experience all around. There were many things about this menu that excited my wife and I. First of all, a Negroni menu for me and a Spritz menu for her. We tried a couple different drinks- Mulberry Street ($19) was one of my favorites. Great if you like Whiskey and Amaro drinks. Secondly, we're huge fans of olives and Caesar salads; two things that seem to be staples of the menu. The Marinated Olives ($8) were prefect. The Cacio e Pepe Caesar ($19) was well dressed and covered in an impressive cloud of finely shredded parm. The Bucatini All'Amitriciana ($37) was a perfect portion; quite large, rustic strands of bucatini, with an addicting tang from the dried tomato. So good. Street is closed so parking is challenging but you just have to walk a bit to get there. We had a reso for outside but opted to sit at bar. I came to Luca Osteria a few years ago and continued to think about the amazing potatoes. So creamy, great hint of truffle, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The potatoes once again did not disappoint. If you let me, I could just eat bowl after bowl! We also got straciatella as another appetizer and it was super fresh. The manager, who came to take our order when he saw we were ready, asked if we wanted honey on the side and it was the best recommendation. Such a sweet and savory way to add on taste! Now the dinner.... woah! The gnocchi was a special (not typically on the menu) but they should definitely add it. The short rib bolognese was so tasty and full of protein. A couple of friends and I stopped by for dinner a recent Saturday, since we were craving pasta and good Italian dishes. I specifically was looking forward to some good Tony Soprano style red sauce, Sunday Gravy kind of bites. Our evening started off great, our waitress was pleasant and educated us on the wine names (the wine list only shows bottled but they do have some wines by the glass). I loved the two glasses of Poggio Nardone Rosso di montalcino that was substituted for the Chianti I wanted. The shared appetizer of straciatella with Sullivan street bread, and truffle honey add on was a perfectly sweet & creamy contrast to the thinly sliced prosciutto. (5/5 on wine and appetizers). Then came our main courses. As I said, in my intro, I was looking for some good red sauce pasta. From the menu, I ordered the short rib bolognese. While the beef in the pasta was hearty and smoky, it was dry in the sense that I am a big fan of red sauce. This plate they don't have any, and I had to order - and likely pay for - an extra service of marinara. To its credit, it did enhance my pasta dish from a 3 to a 4. Still and all , the pasta was a little too close to Al Dente for my taste. Therefore, I am giving it 3/5. I have a well documented, sweet tooth, and ordered for us to share a chocolate and pistachio dessert. One of my friends compared to Italian mochi since the crust was a little hard. We actually had to press some to eat the dish, and while the chocolate was yummy, we barely tasted pistachio (4/5). The restaurant has outside seating, but we decided to sit on the inside, for which reservations are required. The space is really cozy and although they do have some acoustic panels, it can get loud. I am traveling and never know where to eat dinner. I was walking around Coral Gables and stumbled into Luca. I saw that it was lively and had a great vibe. I had the Free Range Chicken with the Cacio e Pepe salad and salsa verde. The very best moist chicken I've ever had and the salad was a meal by itself with homemade focaccia croutons and lots of fresh grated Parmesan! Just know the Patate Fritte is heavy, especially if you're ordering a pasta for your main course. For my main, I ordered one of the specials of the night, which was their truffle pappardelle pasta (I am both a sucker for truffles and pappardelle so it was a no-brainer for me, though the pesto pasta was also calling my name). My dad ordered the short rib bolognese, my brother ordered the rock shrimp pasta dish, and my mother ordered the pasta al limone and added shrimp to it. Everyone was pleased with their picks. There's a buzz in the room with how close the tables are together, but it never felt chaotic. The energy was great and everyone was having a good time. The service was warm and friendly, with a team that clearly knows the menu inside and out. Here's what we ordered based on their suggestions: Cocktail: Negroni Sour ($17) - made with Campari, Antica vermouth, Bombay gin, and citrus. This is a refreshing, playful take on the classic Negroni with a citrus-forward taste profile. Balanced, smooth, and still just the right amount of bitter. I'm not a "normal" Negroni guy, but this particular iteration won me over. Appetizer: Patate Fritte ($27) - Truffled potatoes, Parmigiano fonduta, and egg yolk. This is the dish Luca is most known for, and it absolutely lives up to the hype. Rich, creamy, and intensely flavorful, it's indulgent in the best way and worth coming here for on its own. Pastas: Short Rib Bolognese ($39) - My wife's entrée choice. Pappardelle pasta, mortadella butter, nutmeg, and 24-month Parmigiano. The definition of a comfort food, the slow-cooked short rib practically melted into the perfectly al dente pappardelle. The mortadella butter added a silky richness that made the dish unforgettable. Bucatini all'Amatriciana ($37) - My entrée choice. Prosciutto di Parma, semi-dried tomato, and housemade chili oil. This pasta dish was vibrant, spicy, and very savory. The bucatini had the perfect bite, and the heat from the chili oil played beautifully with the sweetness of the tomatoes and the saltiness of the prosciutto. There was a lot going on here, and for the better! Dessert: Anto's Tiramisu ($14) - made with Mascarpone and Marsala. Light, airy, and not overly sweet. We usually judge Italian restaurants by their Tiramisu's, and are happy to report Luca Osteria passed the test here. A perfect finish to our meal. Evidently, Luca Osteria was a hidden gem that's not so hidden anymore. It's growing popularity is completely justified. Despite the hype, it maintains a laid-back charm that makes you want to stay and savor every course. Its dishes, especially the Palate Fritte and pastas, are cooked with precision and soul. Always a great time at Luca. Came here again after a conference in the area to have some of the best and diverse Negronis with some colleagues. We wound up staying for dinner and shared 2 pastas, the mushroom appetizer and the famous Patate fritte. The grilled wild mushrooms were delicious and enough for the table of 6 to share. The potatoes ate always a fan favorite with great table side presentation. Our server was very helpful and recommended we try the pomodoro w the Calabrian chili and the pasta al limone. Both were fantastic. The lemon was just what we needed to break up some of the heavier flavors from the rest of the meal. We had no room for dessert but thoroughly enjoyed our cocktails.
