What a divine staple of Coconut Grove for over a decade. In a neighborhood that has quickly added new and glamourous restaurants over the last few years - Sapore has stayed a constant. It's a neighborhood restaurant serving absolutely authentic and delicious Italian food. The spot is tiny, with some outdoor seating, a dining room, and a back terrace dining area as well. Service is welcoming and friendly. I went recently with my family and we had a meal so good it made you feel like you got a hug from your nonna. We started with the baby octopus special and the veal tonatto. I had never had tonatto before, but my sister saw it on the menu and said we had to have it. Tonatto is a creamy sauce made with tuna, capers, anchovies, lemon juice, and olive oil - so if all of those things are your jam I 100/10 recommend. For the mains we got the short rib with risotto, the Taglialone al Sapore di Mare and cavatelli with sausage. All three things were divine. We washed this all down with an Italian red wine and had a fabulous time. I love restaurants that feel homey, with a meal you can tell was made with love. I was unable to give them a 5 because my carbonara was way too salty the last time we dined with them. This cute, cozy restaurant was recommended to me and I was excited to try. As we were walking up, the server opened the door for us, we were greeted with a smile by another staff member and drinks and food were prompt. First we began with the focaccia, freshly made, soft and delicious. For apps, We ordered fried calamari, clams and oysters in red sauce and Branzino carpaccio but I must say I was disappointed by all 3. They lacked flavor, and honestly didn't enjoy them at all. We stopped in the Grove and wanted some area food. This came up first on Yelp and was only a block and a half away so that's where we went. We were so happy that we decided to stop here. It is small and quaint with great atmosphere and the food is amazing! We came during off hours so there were only a few other guests and our service was impeccable. It had been a few years since our last visit to Sapore di Mare, but wow--this hidden gem reminded us exactly why we loved it in the first place. We came in for a late lunch/early dinner and were seated right away in the charming back area. The restaurant truly feels like a cozy little escape--you'd never guess you were in Coconut Grove; it feels like you've been transported to the Amalfi Coast. Our waitress was fantastic and went above and beyond to help me find something that worked with my plant-based diet. Her recommendation was spot on--absolutely delicious! Meanwhile, my family couldn't stop raving about their dishes. The mussels appetizer and warm focaccia bread were a huge hit--the sauce alone was outrageous (perfect for dipping). I had the eggplant pasta, which was packed with flavor, my husband devoured his ravioli, my oldest loved her shrimp pasta, and the little one was perfectly happy with her buttered noodles. Food and service were quite good but I was extremely disappointed when the bill came back with not only a 20% service charge (I always tip at least 20%) but they included a 3% credit card surcharge. You have to be kidding. No restaurant should charge you for using a credit card. You have to wonder whether they will have exact change if you pay in cash. the food was out of this world. they do a great job staying true to their italian roots. favorite dishes were the signature tagliolini sapore di mare, the dinner rolls, and the branzino. the caccio e pepe was also a standout dish with it being prepared tableside in a cheese wheel (not on the menu). the ambiance is quaint and pleasant, but we went on a night that was not particularly hot (in november), but the inside seating in the back resembles closer an outside seating and because there is no opening for a breeze, it was pretty stuffy. also the service fell short in that we needed to flag our server down to clear our dinner plates, to bring a dessert menu, and to bring the check (all with ~20 minute waits in between). these items unfortunately knocked a star for me. read more

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in miami! I always visit when I need an authentic Italian meal. I have been multiple times and I can't get enough! The food is delicious! The ambience is very cozy and you feel like you are in Italy. Each time that I have been here I have been treated excellent with prompt service and a great experience overall. My wife loved her lobster ravioli and she gets it every time. My favorite dish is the cacio e Pepe out of the cheese wheel. The whole family loved the table side display, but we enjoyed eating it more! For kids there is not much space for a stroller to fit but There are high chairs. Delicious food, great service in a homey environment. We started a refreshing spritz, then the complimentary bread arrived. It tasted homemade. For starters we ordered some calamari with shrimp, they were so fresh. Then we had a special focaccia bread which was amazing. I shared a lobster ravioli with my son which was so juicy and delicious. My husband had a pasta with seafood which he loved and my friend had another pasta with oysters that she said was on point. I'm going to be so honest, the Cacio e Pepe which is the cheese block one was absolutely disgusting, not only are the prices extremely high, but they did the entire "no bread" spill and charged us for focaccia without telling us. I'm a REAL foodie. Money thankfully for me is NOT an issue. But when on a Tuesday night in the Grove where all restaurants were DEAD, I went to Sapore. 1/2 of restaurant empty. 7p. I asked for a table for 3. Despite numerous empty tables at the front I was escorted to the rear and seated where within minutes, I was bumped four times by passing gas and servers. I asked a waiter to please find the lady who had seated me to move us to another table even outside, all of which were empty.. five minutes later nothing. So, I got up and left. Little did that restaurant know that later I would go to another local restaurant and drop $1000. The arrogance of Sapore! You might survive with a bunch of Grovites and stupid tourists. But people like me will NEVER go back or refer you to anyone. If you want someone to blame it was the black-haired 25-30 year old lady hostess. Good luck at you new location. No restaurant there survived more than a year and I will use all of my influencer friends and social media to educate the public on the horrific experience at Sapore di Mare. This was an old time staple in the Grove. However, today's experience at their new location on Main, was a total disappointment. The outside seating has a long hallway with tables, adjacent to the parking lot, servers would pass by very sporadic. I never got my water refilled. You feel pretty isolated and unattended back there I get they are trying to utilize the space to the max, but they should check more frequently. Our late lunch started well, focaccia (which we never informed it was not on the house. Since they didn't serve us bread, I assumed it was on the house. They should have indicated it wasn't.the carpaccio had more arugula than meat, but the main entrees were not edible. Out of first order was spaghetti à la vongole - clams had a lot of sand, the taste was very off, and the pasta very dry. We returned both and got the gnocchi and pasta sapore di mare. The gnocchi's were worst than the first plate, and the other dish mediocre. The owner wss unapologetic and only wanted to give us the beer and prosecco on the house. The gnocchi plate was almost intact. I kindly complained to the server, which he later understood and removed the item from the bill. Least to say, we will not be going back. I have been waiting to try this place for sometime, so for my wife's birthday we had dinner. To begin with a server Alex was great very attentive and on point. We ordered for appetizer the scallops with Parmesan, which the family says were phenomenal. I had the soup of the day which was a pumpkin soup with cut sausage rings in the center, It was amazing. For dinner I had the Sapore Di Mare pasta, my wife had the Oso Buco, ravioli, and my daughters had the ravioli with Gorgonzola and prosciutto. Everything was great, and to top it off the night, they brought my wife a tiramisu with a candle in it to sing her happy birthday. I was not let down by the service the food or the atmosphere. The Branzino appetizer with green apples was a great fusion, but when it came to the main entrees like the Gnocchi and the short ribs with Parmesan risotto were way below average. The Gnocchi tasted like Crayola I can't describe the odd taste it had, I am a big fan of Gnocchi and always order them any where I go and I can say confidently this was the first bad experience at any restaurant and the short ribs were OK, but not worth the $54 price that they had on the menu. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming. As soon as I saw the menu in Italian, I knew the food was going to be good; and boy, was I right! The food was delicious. I tried the prosciutto with burrata cheese, and it was amazing. The burrata was so creamy. I lived near Coconut Grove in the Gables for years and never ate here because it's always soo packed and have been turned away without a reservation. I highly recommend you make one, but I came in on a random Thursday solo and they were able to fit me in. I now understand why it's so busy, the food was amazing. The servers are all on point and no one missed a beat. The restaurant is small and they have outdoor dining but get used to eating in tight quarters, it's worth it. I ordered the mussel appetizers and it was so flavorful! For my main I got the lobster ravioli and woooow, so good! I am still thinking about all the flavors of the stuffing. Had a birthday reservation for four at 7:00 pm on a Thursday, came and told the valet that i didn't wanted him driving my vehicle that I will park myself and still give him the $10 plus tip ( they always damage something) he said to leave it , so I told him that I was going to park in the space next at last carrot ( was closed ) so , while I was eating the waitress came and told me that my vehicle was hooked of the tow truck, so I ran out side and told the driver to drop it , he said someone called him .. guesss sho ?... yes , the valet from the restaurant, I refuse to get out of the vehicle and called the police , the came and told me this was a common event here , I thing the restaurant needs to do something and stop playing stupid , we are your neighbors and patrons, how about talking to the Last Carrot eatery, they close early and don't need the parking , I actually know the owner Ben eating there for 30 years , this is just bad and lame from Sapore , never coming back , and by the way , I had to pay $100 to get the vehicle off the tow. And FYI , the valet parking got a text saying that my vehicle need to be moved because apparently they are on a WhatsApp group , instead of going inside and letting me know that my car was going to be towed he decided to let the whole event play out , I guess 50% of those fees go to the valet parking company . This restaurant does not need a valet parking, there's plenty of parking across the street which I should have tried there first, but instead, I thought because I was eating at this restaurant I could park in their lot Maybe the owner of Sapore could have a deal and purchase some parking spaces for a certain days and times ? Our food also took about an hour to get to us and when it arrived it was cold and nasty as if it has been sitting under a faulty heating lamp for a long time, needless to say two of us didn't finish our dish, desert was the only thing that it was good, no Michelin star here for sure. read more

This restaurant is not closed, but simply in a new location nearby. We came to celebrate my husband's birthday with a friend, but I wish we had chosen a different restaurant. Highly overpriced for the quality of the food, although service was good. For appetizers, the Frittura di Mare (calamari, shrimp, and sand smelt) and the Fiori di Zucca (fried zucchini flowers filled with mozzarella) were both very disappointing. The zucchini flowers, which should have been delicately fried, looked more like corn dogs. Only the Vitello Tonnato was a winner. Main courses were pastas, and the bolognese was good. However, the Spaghetti alla Vongole contained chewy, flavorless clams swimming in an equally flavorless oil. There was no finesse at all with this dish. Adding to the unhappiness was the fact that it was extremely noisy due to the number of tables packed into the small space, and it was freezing cold. All in all, an expensive mistake. read more

Our girls have been talking about the 'pasta made in the cheese wheel' for months, so when I found this restaurant, we had to go. They take reservations and I suggest getting one. The place is cozy but not overcrowded. It did get a bit loud in the enclosed outside area. Highlights were the gnocchi with Gorgonzola and the cacio e Pepe (cheese wheel pasta). The gnocchi were like little pillows of goodness. If you don't like Gorgonzola, don't get it. It's very rich but amazing. The girls got the cacio e Pepe without truffles (I tried). This was the second stop on our progressive Coconut dinner tour the night before our cruise ship departure. Confused on the high ratings though. Ambience is very pretty and after being seat in the back room, it was very cozy with all of the tables squished in there. The cioppino was a fair portion but the flavor was lacking.
