We choose the indoor seating this time around, but I think I prefer the outdoor seating. Indoors was lovely. It was dark, sexy, no bugs, and the perfect temperature. We ordered: Faust wine 5/5 All the usual free apps 5/5 Grilled Octopus 5/5 Spicy Rigatoni 5/5 Veal Parmesan 5/5 The service was great! They had amazing team work to provide the perfect high class dinning for guest. I never had to think about water being refilled, wine glass being refilled, or crumbs on the table. They checked in with us just enough. Price: If you have drinks, apps, entree, and dessert expect to spend around $300 or more. Portions: Not the largest portions for "family size" but if it's just two it may be filling enough because they give you bread, cheese, cured meats, and pickled cauliflower for the appetizers. I had high expectations for Carbone, especially given its reputation, but unfortunately, my experience left me feeling disappointed. THE FOOD The food itself wasn't the problem- the value was. Charging nearly $200 for a 2.5-pound lobster and serving what appeared to be no more than 10 ounces of meat is unacceptable. I've ordered lobster countless times, and this was nowhere close to what should come from a lobster of that size. It honestly felt like a bait-and-switch. At Carbone's prices and reputation, I expected transparency and quality, not to leave wondering if I had just paid hundreds of dollars for an empty shell. It completely overshadowed the rest of the meal and left a terrible impression. THE SERVICE Our wait staff was excellent- friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the evening. When I raised my concern about the lobster, however, there wasn't a meaningful solution offered. The manager did bring out complimentary meatballs and two slices of cake, which was appreciated, but it didn't address the actual issue. I requested the veal entrée (about $125) as a gesture of goodwill, but that request was denied. I left feeling that my concerns were acknowledged but not truly resolved. THE VIBE The ambiance is everything you'd expect from Carbone- stylish, energetic, and full of old-school charm. It's a beautiful restaurant with a lively atmosphere, making it a great place for a special occasion. Ultimately, the atmosphere and attentive wait staff weren't enough to make up for what felt like poor value and an unsatisfactory resolution to a legitimate concern. Carbone is an extremely overpriced restaurant that falls short on food quality. The prices are obscene. The steak is $105. The fish is $145. Soup is $29 and the appetizers are $60. The staff was excellent and the atmosphere was cool. But as for the food you can get better food quality at Olive Garden. The place is basically all hype. The steak tasted like a tire patch and the pasta was completely undercooked. The food prices are completely unjustified. They also force you to pay a 20% gratuity and then have the audacity to ask for an additional tip on the final bill. The bill for 3 of us was $550. We left disappointed with the food. I finally visited one of the restaurants that have been on my list for a long time. I was able to make reservations at the Miami location so i can have my dinner before leaving there. The reservations in NY are almost impossible to make. I had a nice solo dinner at 10pm outdoors. It was a beautiful Miami night. My table had a nice little lamp which set my mood. I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Scampi, Funghi Trifolati (mushrooms), Pickled cauliflower, bread basket, salami and for dessert I had their lemon cheesecake. The shrimp are huge and are about $36 bucks a piece, i only had one. The mushrooms were good but salty, and the spicy rigatoni was underwhelming. It wasn't bad but my overall experience was just ok. I will say that the service was great! They were attentive and made recommendations being that it was myn first time. Overall I got to feel like a boss at a solo dinner at Carbones. Getting a reservation at Carbone is difficult. I've dined at their nyc location and felt the reservation was much easier to get in Miami! That said, the experience didn't quite live up to the hype. I finally decided I would write a yelp review about it! We went for an early dinner, and the vibe was surprisingly quiet. Definitely not the lively "scene" you hear about. Service was also a bit off. At one point our server didn't even know how to properly pour a beer, which felt odd for a place that's supposed to be known for polished, old school hospitality. We started with the complimentary bread, which was a nice touch. I had beers while my date ordered a Vesper martini. We also had the scapece to start. For entrees, I had the spicy vodka rigatoni, and it leaned more *undercooked* than al dente. I get that it's supposed to have a bite, but this felt like it missed the mark, which was disappointing since it's their signature dish. My date got the orecchiette Vito, which was solid but not especially impressive. We finished with the hazelnut chocolate cake for dessert. It was decent, but nothing we would go out of our way for. Overall, it was just okay. Not bad, but not worth the level of hype or the reservation stress. From the moment you walk in, the decor and overall vibe set the tone for a special night, and the service really elevated the experience. It was my first visit, and I learned their servers are called "captains." Ours, Volkan, was fantastic--knowledgeable, attentive, and great at guiding us through the menu with thoughtful recommendations. We started with an Old Fashioned and a Negroni, both well-made. For food, we had the Caesar salad prepared tableside (definitely add the anchovies), the rigatoni, and the snapper Allison--everything was delicious and lived up to the hype. They also bring out complimentary plates with salami, garlic bread, tomato focaccia bread, chunks of Parmesan cheese, and pickled cauliflower, which was a really nice touch. Our bill came out to around $250-$300. Overall, it was an amazing experience, but not somewhere I'd go regularly--definitely more of a special occasion spot. Carbone lived up to the hype for my wife and I's first dinner night of our Honeymoon. Upon entering, you're transported into a luxury/homey Italian eatery, with ambiance that makes you feel like royalty throughout the entire dinner. The food itself delivers! The Caesar salad was grand and refreshing, with the croutons providing a slightly sweet touch. The Spicy Rigatoni was the top dish forsure! Why I'll go back: Power dining on pasta in an electric atmosphere You HAVE to order: Spicy Rigatoni Vodka Tony's Tip: If you want a decent dinner time on Friday or Saturday, get on top of it when the 30-day, 10:00 a.m. reservation window opens. If you haven't had luck scoring a rezzie at the storied Greenwich Village location, Carbone Miami will give you all of the energy of the original, sexed up a bit with the gorgeous Miami crowd. Our group of six scored a 6:45 pm table on the Friday of Art Basel weekend. We were seated promptly and then taken care of all night by a dapper, smooth-talking gentleman who made us feel like royalty. Drink orders were taken and a walk-through of the menu given, followed by the bread service. That's a good place to digress for a moment and note four dishes that stood out to me: Bread basket: three types of bread, including a warm, buttery focaccia. AND it comes with a chunk of parmesan and a side of salami presented like a flower bouquet. One of the best starting packages I've ever had dining out. Spicy Rigatoni Vodka: this is the house specialty. Think a mix of creamy vodka sauce and amatriciana spiciness. Again, unique in my experience. They like to do an appetizer portion per person as a mid-course. Don't pass it up. Angel Hair AOP: Delicious, delicate pasta (and not al dente) soaking in a vibrant red sauce and accompanied by a generous portion of lobster chunks. My favorite dish of the night. Artichoke Hearts: I've loved these since I was a kid, as we stripped down a full artichoke at the dinner table leaf by leaf to arrive at the "prize" of a tender heart that we used to submerge in warm butter. Well, this dish is all hearts sitting in butter, oil and herbs. A true delicacy and a great add-on, especially with any of the fish or steak dishes. The Caesar and House Chopped Salads were a great warmup course - neither dressing was heavy and they were right in the wheelhouse of what you'd expect those classics to taste like. We threw in lamb chops and the Chicken Massimo as well. The chops were tender and "prepared" tableside. The kitchen didn't do anything flamboyant with the chicken, but it was very moist and flavorful for such a dish. The next time we make it into Carbone, I'm inclined to try another pasta and the veal parm, and I'm intrigued by the lasagna. There's a beautiful dessert cart presentation. Our table shared a piece of carrot cake (looked prettier than it tasted) and a sweet Italian cake with a delicate cream sauce. tbh, I'd focus on the main meal and maybe drink your dessert (I'm lookin' at you, espresso martini). Despite it being Art Basel Friday and packed, service never skipped a beat. We had just signed our check a few minutes past 9:00 when a host came over, ostensibly to see how our meal was, but really to move us along since they were probably looking to get a 9:00 reservation seated. Unwittingly, our lingering was parlayed into an offer of free limoncello in the bar area, which we graciously ;) accepted. That scene was as you'd expect - short dresses, nice tans, and controlled chaos - all a reminder that when you mix Carbone and Miami, you get a scene like no other. Being from Jersey, my wife had been dying to try Carbone for months. We were lucky enough to get an early reservation on a holiday weekend. Valet parking was available for 25 dollars (cash) or you could find parking nearby for cheaper. We did the valet due to the rain: When we arrived, the restaurant was just opening, so we sat at the bar for a quick drink. Cocktails were in the 20-25 dollar range and were great. After we finished our drinks, we were seated and quickly met our waitress. Food: 5 out of 5. After seeing videos on TikTok and photos on Yelp, we decided to order an appetizer, a pre-course pasta, and an entree to split. Originally I thought we would still be hungry, but this was MORE than enough food. As a pre-course the may bring out bread, cauliflower, freshly cut salami, and a chunk of Parmesan free of charge. We ordered the carpaccio, spicy rigatoni, and ribeye Diana. Holy smoke was it good. We ended up with leftovers, but highly recommend trying each. We ended with a cheesecake to split as well. The atmosphere has a vintage Italian American feel to it, and you'll feel like you've been transported to a little Italy with fine china and Frank Sinatra playing in the background. We started our meal with complimentary bread and pickled cabbage and onions. The calamari was the best calamari I've ever had. It was cooked to perfection and drizzled with a delicious pepper sauce. We also ordered the ribeye Diana, the spicy rigatoni, mushrooms, and potatoes. The ribeye was absolutely divine, the spicy rigatoni is worth the hype, and the sides made the meal one of the best I've ever had. I don't mind paying for the food but the quality of the steak was so bad and they honestly didn't do anything to help. We have tried numerous times to reach out to the restaurant and email them, the manager Samantha mentioned she was going to help return the steak and still waiting on reply. Not a single bad bite - but my favourite was hands down the scapece - loved the flavours and tang to the dish! So so good! The noise level is moderate so it's not a candlelight romantic experience, but it's definitely something that is date worthy as well as a great place to visit with friends. The food portions are decent and everything. My party had was absolutely delicious. They do have some rotating menu options that I suggest you take advantage of. We've been to Carbone twice now and it's one of our favorite restaurants in the states. The ambiance, interior, and service- you pay for the experience. The first time, we came on a busy weekend night and the food was so-so...grandma's bread was gummy and spicy vodka was soft and super sweet. The second time, we came on a weeknight dinner to celebrate my early 30th birthday and managed to be seated an hour before our reservation and the food was spectacular. On both occasions, we had the same waiter and had perfect service. We'll continue to keep coming back. Be prepared for a pricey bill, but come for a special and romantic dinner where you leave completely stuffed. Our favorites - complimentary apps: my boyfriend loves grandma's bread, but my favorite is the garlic bread. We both enjoy bites of the pickled cauliflower and parm throughout the meal. - spicy vodka rigatoni: perfectly al dente with the right savory/sweet balance. This is a must-order - lobster fra diavolo: so good- very flavorful. - veal parmesan: so tender and cooked perfectly. My boyfriend loved this as is, but I would order it without the marinara and mozz next time as just the cutlet and fried rib. - chocolate hazelnut cake with vanilla ice cream: a combination of my favorite flavors. The warm sauce combined with the moist cake and cold ice cream? Divine. - lemon curd cheesecake with strawberry ice cream: this was recommended by our waiter and is a must-order. Light, fluffy, and delicate. Good to try - caesar salad: the tableside service is fun, but the salad is nothing special outside of the large, buttery croutons. - lobster ravioli: this was actually my boyfriend's favorite, but something passable to me.
