Tropezon had a very nice Spanish designed interior with intimate lighting. Drinks: Yuzu Gin & tonic - super excited for this one. It's supposed to be a yuzu & electric blue matcha gin but honestly was disappointing. It tasted watered down and I couldn't even really taste the "yuzu & blue matcha". Food: Pan con tomate - honestly very impressed. The flavors were on point. Do recommend. Empanadillas - the of that night. Super delicious braised short rib along with the sauce really made it stand out. Croquetas - can't go wrong Torreznos - solid crispy pork belly Octopus - disappointing. Flavors a little bland even though a lot of paprika was sprinkled on top. The potato foam was alright. Octopus was cooked decently though Seafood paella - the full pan of paella was made well and tasty but is not worth $55. Churros - VERY good, can't go wrong. Great to wrap up dinner. Service was honestly kind of slow and we were waiting for our food/check for quite a bit. Overall time for dinner was around 2-2.5 hours.
This is one of the true standouts of South Beach. A quiet gem tucked away on the side of a more touristy street favorited by locals who truly appreciate truly elevated, yet unpretentious food. The service is friendly and attentive, but restrained enough not to be overly casual. The intimate dining room can be enjoyed at a table or among characters at the bar. Outside seating is a lovely option on a sexy evening. We went recently for a group business dinner of pescatarians and meat eaters and everyone enjoyed exquisite bite after bite. Steak and branzino equally perfect. Branzino is appearing on Miami and Miami Beach menus as prevalent and uninspired as Brussels sprouts a few years ago, but no one, absolutely no one is doing a better preparation than Tropezon at any price point. We ordered so much food and would be hard pressed to name a favorite. Let the bartender choose which infused gin to elevate your cocktail. We fell in love with the French 75 and Gimlet. We cannot say enough about the welcoming spirit Byron has and the great level of professional care exhibited by Tim. I left promising myself I would not take so long to return. Even if you are next door at The Drexel for the main, you should be before and after at Tropezon. If you anywhere in the vicinity, make a stop lol. Ok you get the point.
Just happened upon this place and it was absolutely incredible. Sat at the bar for service with Sofia and she was wonderful--attentive, friendly, super knowledgeable of the menu. Ordered tuna tartare (went too quickly to get a photo of!) and the torreznos which was so succulent but crispy and perfectly salted. It was cozy and eclectic, must stop by.
Wow! Amazing food and amazing service! It's off the main part of the esplanade (but still close) where there seemed to be more touristy hard-sell restaurants. So glad we walked another block down and found this gem. We enjoyed our meal very much and our server was top notch. Even told us about the In Kind app so we could take advantage of a promo and apply it toward our bill. We will be sure to come back next time in South Beach!
Vibes: casually refined tapas with mix of bar, bistro seating; bring a date or a few friends Tasting notes: - Boquerones fritos: good meat to batter ratio; tender, flaky meat - Empanadillas: served piping hot; excellent contrast between crispy exterior and umami rich, indulgent beef inside; the accompanying sauce was generous in portion and addictingly savory - Carrot: perfectly al dente carrots, paired well with the creamy yogurt; very shareable portion - Skirt steak: thick slices with slight char and chew - Seafood paella: one giant, juicy prawn with little rings of squid sprinkled in; in the saltier side; rice had a lovely caramelization Other thoughts: - Relatively quick order-to-food arrival turnaround - Not too busy on a Saturday early evening - Yuzu G&T was a beautiful purple and classic in flavor - Above dishes fairly light to be shared among four adults Impression: a solid dining experience, most impressed by the boquerones!
Wow, Española Way is such a cool European vibe. It's lined with restaurants with outdoor seating and is closed to through traffic. Sunday night was packed with tourists and locals. El Tropezón is a cool spot with tapas and a full bar. They also boast making their own gin, offering a wide variety of cocktails. Our server James was friendly and attentive. He definitely aimed to please! We had the croquetas, octopus, empanadillas, patata bravas, and ended with sweet churros. It was all washed down with a delicious white sangria. I will definitely be back!!!
Tropezón is a fantastic restaurant with an atmosphere conducive to bringing friends or a date (or both!). The food is fabulous, the drinks are unique also delicious, and the atmosphere is a chill vibe. After a long afternoon, I met friends for a bite to eat before returning home to Palm Beach County. We sat at the bar, which normally I don't like in groups of more than 3, but we got to watch the bartender infuse gin with herbs, which was so interesting! We were given a taste of one of those gins - it was herb-y, fruity, and dry - really wonderful. But I was feeling like something a little sweeter on such a hot night, so I opted for the refreshing tinto de verano. Since it was Miami Spice, my friends and I opted for one of the evening's specials. Before that, though, we couldn't resist some of the appetizers - empanadillas filled with a delicate flavorful meet and a side of a spicy sauce as well as the escalivada, eggplant and other veggies with perfectly toasted bread. The Miami Spice menu that I chose started off with patatas bravas - helping handful of cooked potatoes in a luscious sauce, a chicken thigh that was so juicy and moist over a bed of pearled couscous and topped with greens. The rub on top of the chicken was so deep and amazing. And to top it all off, the churros were freshly made, crispy on the outside with cinnamon and sugar, soft on the inside with a homemade ice cream and hot chocolate sauce. I was in heaven. Everything about the meal and the evening went perfect. What a great spot!
We had tapas here on a buzzing weekend night. Although we had no reservations, the hostess seated our party of two quite easily outside (busier inside). We tried a handful of cocktails such as a surprisingly sweet and smooth Negroni, the papaya gin-based Anillos de Saturna, and the martini. We were sooo enamored with the tapas! The tuna was fresh and creamy. The pork belly also stood out for its crispy and lime-salted skin. Piquillos were like saucy crab pockets that came in a set of 3. The tapas were brought out about one at a time. Definitely a charming place to bring a date!
I've been wanting to try Tropezón since visiting last year and am so glad we came here for dinner at the bar! The bartender was awesome and created some off-the menu cocktails for us based on our spirit preference. I love that! For I was so excited to sample the food, and ordered the pan con tomate plus ham which was absolutely phenomenal and possibly the best version of this appetizer that I've ever had. It's one of my favorite tapas and I order it a lot so that says a lot. The little gem salad was another win with the best tangy vinaigrette dressing and delicious chopped pepperoncinis that just elevated it completely. The roasted carrots were fabulous (and highly recommended by the bartender) and the crab stuffed sweet peppers were the only miss, and they weren't bad but everything else was fantastic. While this restaurant is technically in a very tourist area, it is at the very end of the street and still feels like a hidden gem. I love the casual but fun and moody interior that makes it feel somewhat other-worldly. A fabulous spot for dinner and drinks on South Beach!
First and foremost getting in was a bit of a hassle--not a surprise given how in demand I heard this spot was (and during Art Basel to boot). I threw something in on Resy and got an almost immediate notification that we'd have a table in 45 minutes, but when we got there on time, there was some confusion. Major kudos to the Maitre'D, Antonio, who clearly cared and hustled and seemed to pull some reconfiguring magic to get us seated after an additional 10-15 minute wait. The drinks were absolutely spot on. I mean, they had me at the name Fino Martini, but they were incredibly inventive and tasty (so much so my girlfriend got a second). I had to try the Yuzu G&T for my second drink though, and that was also pretty excellent. Unfortunately the food didn't quite live up to our hopes. We had a number of tapas, only 1-2 of which we truly enjoyed. The Tuna (tuna, marcona almond purée, pickled cucumbers) was very interesting, but the The Maitake Mushrooms were bland, and the Torreznos (pork belly, tropezón spice, lime) was quite overcooked--as was the grilled octopus entrée we decided to share. We were still hungry after what we hoped would be enough food, so threw in the Charcoal Sardines after we finished our entrée, which was a definite highlight. Ultimately I would say the service here was impeccable and the drinks excellent, and it really is a lovely setting. The food wound up disappointing, which is a harsh toke at this price point. But given the other things to recommend it, I would definitely recommend for a cocktail, and could probably be convinced to give it another shot for dinner.
This place was fantastic and probably the best meal I had in Miami. Everything was exceptional. The patatas bravas were so good-- we ordered another after eating the first. The duck confit paella was also amazing-- we ordered seconds for that as well. The skirt steak and manchego/jamon appetizer was also amazing. Our waiter was fantastic and we sat in the outside back patio which had a great vibe to it. The meal was pricey but the food lived up to the expectations. Definitely recommend.
So disappointed. Came here very excited last Saturday night after reading favorable reviews but sadly, it did not meet my expectations. First off, when we arrived a couple was conversing with the host & they just talked & talked & talked while I waited, shivering in the cold for what felt like forever. When the couple finally decided to head into the restaurant, the host turned his attention to me. While he was very sweet, I was already a bit annoyed by the cold & instead of seating us ASAP, he asked us to wait either at the bar (no room) or in a small alcove where we awkwardly tried to avoid bumping into waitstaff as they zoomed by. Not ideal & not comfortable. Once we were seated, I was able to get a feel for the place. Super cute with an energetic crowd & a distinctly Spanish vibe. Since they specialize in gin, we decided to go with their Fino Martini (hojiblanca gin, hidalgo fino sherry, cerignola olive) Very strong & very good. To eat, we chose: - Pan con Tomate (grated plum tomato, garlic, pedro ximenez sherry), tasty but I've had way better many times over. - Tuna (marcona almond purée, pickled cucumbers) Best thing I ate all night. Super fresh & flavourful. - Gambas al Ajillo (crispy garlic, arbol chili, cognac) This was terrible. As I was cutting into the shrimp, it felt soft not firm & plump as I was expecting. Should have returned them there & then but instead, I decided to try it. BLECH!!!! flavour was bland & the shrimp was a creamy mush! I literally spit it out into my napkin but my boyfriend decided to try it & ended up being sick to his stomach for the rest of the evening & the following morning. - Olives & Almonds. As basic as it sounds. Really thought it would be somehow elevated but olives were mediocre & the almonds were coated in seasoning salt. Way too salty. - Mushrooms. They were ok, but tasted like the almonds which tasted like pure seasoning salt. Our water, Emanuel was very nice but everything took SOOO long & the food did . Dont think I'll be back, unfortunately.
The host squeezed us in on a busy Friday night without reservation in prime time, so major props to that, off to a great start. Good vibe, with good music too. The mocktails were delicious and well priced, and the small plates were great (got the pork belly and the marinated vegetable dish). All was going well and we were looking forward to our main course, the octopus (at $39). Well, it came and listen, we live in NYC, and this was no more than a standard $19-24 appetizer at ANY NYC restaurant. This isn't a "Miami premium" issue - this shouldn't be listed as a main course, nor at this price. We walked away feeling a bit cheated, and still hungry. So, overall, would come back, but just wouldn't spend double on an octopus app.
Love love this restaurant! It really fits the vibe of Espanola way and has amazing food and drinks. You can sit inside in the cozy bar or outside- can't go wrong with either. The Spanish tapas are great for sharing and that way you can try everything too. The pan con tomate was so simple yet one of the best things on the menu. The ingredients they use are so fresh! The tuna tar tar was also one of my favorites and the sauce was drinkable it was so light and complemented the tuna so well. The octopus was not as I would have expected and in a rich cheesy sauce but still very flavorful and tender. The empanadas were perfect as well. Our server Conrad was so friendly and helped us with recommendations for wine and dishes. read more

This place is great! The ambiance and menu is outstanding. It is a little loud so I would recommend sitting outside. We started with a charcuterie board and I ordered a rose sangria because I had never tried it before. Honestly, I was not impressed. I felt that it lacked flavor but it did look very pretty. So then I went to the gin and tonic mixers. This was a smart move. The taste was excellent and well balanced. Unfortunately, they ran out of tortilla Espanola while we were there so I was kind of disappointed. However, the tapas that we ordered were great! The bartender was amazing I loved watching her make drinks every five minutes. If you go out here, I recommend sitting at the bar for the best experience possible. The tapas are perfect and the dessert divine. Get the churros. They are awesome! We went for our anniversary and we got free champs and sherry with our meal. I will say that the bathrooms could've been cleaner. I understand there is a barrier when it comes to gender neutral bathrooms. However, I would recommend more frequent cleaning to avoid a mess. I didn't feel the bathrooms were very clean. Overall, good food great drinks, will be back again. Went back again for drinks before leaving Miami. Music was not as loud and staff friendly as always! read more

I really wanted to love this place because a) it is beautifully decorated, making you feel transported to Spain and b) it's Spanish food, which is my favorite. We sat at the bar one Friday and were greeted with a gin of the day. That was a very nice touch. The bartender helped us decide on drinks since there are many varieties of infused gins to choose from. I went off menu and tried the pear gin with soda. My friend had the beautiful purple drink. The pear gin was very light and paired well with soda. I thought my friend's purple drink would be sweet but it was actually more floral/herbal which was interesting. They gave us a small dish of cheese and olives for happy hour. The Olives were delicious. We couldn't leave without trying the pan con tomate - a fav Spanish dish. I was surprised to see whole slices of tomato on a charred piece of toast. Usually they mash up the tomato with olive oil and salt to make a spread. The char of the bread, the bartender mentioned, was to keep the bread from getting soggy. I've seen other photos where they make the pan con tomate the traditional way, but they might have changed it up recently, Hope they bring the traditional way back. Food is on the higher end as far as prices for tapas go, but I'd return to check it out once more. Hopefully they will specify what their happy hour entails as most people probably come in expecting drink specials as was stated on a Culture Crusaders article about them and having sangria specials. We asked and they did not. Their happy hour consists of a tiny tapa per drink ordered at regular price. read more
We were on a haunted pub crawl and this was one of our stops. The location is great and the ambiance is really neat and cozy. The staff was very welcoming and prompt. We didn't really have the whole experience because we just sat at the bar and each had a drink. I ordered a sangria and it had potential but it was very weak. They have a very innovative menu, I wish I could've taken a picture. Drinks are a little overpriced but hey...it's Miami Beach prices. read more
We were just walking around looking for dinner options and stumbled upon this lace our first night. Unfortunately they had no openings so before we left we tried again and were able to get outside seating table for two. It's on the end of the string of restaurants on Espanola Way. The service was great from the hostess to the waitress and they offered up suggestions as well as answered all of our questions. All of the food was very tasty and full of flavor. The tuna dish was a favorite but none disappointed. Would definitely recommend this place in your visit to South Beach! read more

Exceptional service, wonderful food, handcrafted drinks in an incredible atmosphere. A highlight of our trip to Miami. Tapas dishes were both traditionally made with innovative touches. Pictures have details. Inventive gin drinks and well priced wine list with lots of great wines and variety. Special dessert was phenomenal... cinnamon toast, pear and ice cream. One of the best desserts in the last few years! read more

In Spanish, to "tropezar" means to accidentally bump into something. I "bumped " into Tropezón a few weeks back looking for a nightcap after dinner elsewhere on the beach. This past Saturday, this time purposefully, I returned for tapas since I was also going to a Sobewff event nearby. My first experience, as I mentioned, was for drinks. Their menu seems focused on gin and wine, and I enjoyed a sweet glass of sherry while enjoying jazzy remixes of hip hop hits while chatting up with a winsome New York "expat". This past Saturday, I returned for actual bites. Perhaps coincidentally, I ran into another New Yorker celebrating a birthday #piscesseason Besides, some deliciously prepared creamy cocktails mixed, I also enjoyed a complementary Egyptian Lemongrass apertif, along with another sherry nightcap and their version of a Licor 43 carajillo. My "only one drink" was their "Codo de Mono" - a smooth blend of buttered banana and vanilla gin, amaro nonino, lemon and honey. Food? I had that too! As they're focused on tapas, I enjoyed their patatas brava as well as a "Para Picar" charcuterie tray of manchego & perfectly salty iberico. The baby potatoes were seasoned just right with pimenton &salsa verde, spicy without being overwhelming. Although I came in without a reservation, I was able to come in without a reservation to snag a bar seat. This is actually better if you're dining solo. Service was wonderful, and I look forward to visiting again. read more
This place was amazing! The vibe is everything!! Lovely for a date or a group of people... The interior was lovely i loved all the pictures and things posted on the wall, they have a wonderful back yard with live music. They specialize in gin and infuse with many flavors like Egyptian lemongrass, tangerine, strawberry, mango etc. they have an extensive drink menu that i wish I could try them all. For food we tried the potatoes which were great 4/5 and the carrots were my favorite!!! 5/5 grilled to perfection with a lovely cream sauce. For entree we ordered the meat sample came with shoulder, filet etc and it was alright i mean couldnt they have grilled it added garlic anything??? It was kind of bland that dish sadly. For dessert we had the creme brulee which was good but not the best. The service wasn't spectacular ive heard there had been better. I went with someone who dined there before. This time it was alright no passion really and she lacked charisma. She was just doing her job no real excitement. Overall great experience, id be back to give it another try. read more

Tropezón is super cute, beautiful bar, nice outdoor and indoor seating, very nice space. I love that it's a gin bar too. We tried the yuzu purple gin drink and the strawberry gin and tonic and liked both of them. They were both served in giant wine glasses with wayyyy too much ice though, which really watered them down and felt unwieldy to hold honestly lol. I was definitely a bit disappointed by the food. Everything was SO SALTY. The patatas bravas were missing the crispy ness of traditional patatas bravas and the red sauce on top, they were just little roasted potatoes sitting on top of a ton of oil and aioli. Was sad about those. The jamón plate was good, my boyfriend really enjoyed it. The shishito peppers were also yummy, they had a great honey glaze on them. The Spanish omelette was also disappointing. Too salty and a weird very thin egg patty...not traditional at all. We ended up ordering the tuna salad at the end of the meal because we were desperate for something fresh and not salty but the salad has an almost....sour taste? also too salty and the tuna was in the strangest format, super dry and thin slices with no flavor. Wish I had taken a picture. Cute place, come for drinks and appetizers not a full dinner is my suggestion. Our server was great! read more
I have been to this place a few times now. I think the food is great. As a vegetarian they have a few options. I love going to Barcelonta in Sunset Harbor so when my Dad was in town I was excited to bring him here. Last night was a total disappointment and I most likely won't be going back nor recommending this place. I've had interactions with their rude hostess before. I brought my cousins from out of town but when we got to our reservation 30 minutes early and there were a bunch of empty tables, she refused to seat us. Same time happened last night, we wanted to eat inside instead of out, she said we could only sit inside for 1 hour (even though in 1 hour there were available reservations) so we opted for the bar. The manager (who we spoke to later - Derek) and the bartender were the opposite of friendly. Normally when you sit at the bar, the bartender interacts, give recommendations, and at least are friendly. After our rude encounter with the bartender, we order one appetizer each and decided to go to our favorite french cafe next door A La Folie! I guess they cater to tourist.... read more
Fun experience and great food. It's loud and and energetic, so be prepared, but it's worth it. Finally a reason to head to touristy Española Way. I most definitely felt like I was at a gin bar in Spain with great food and a great vibe. The infused gin cocktails are amazing. Even those folks who don't like gin seem to like their concoctions here. The strawberry and yuzu gin and tonics were my two favorites. Menu standouts included their tomato bread, rice dish, Andalusian chicken, chorizo, spicy shrimp, churros and homemade ice cream. We were stuffed and so satisfied. Our waiter was Gabriel, who was attentive, knowledgeable and charming. Front-of-house staff couldn't have been more accommodating given that we showed up without a reservation on a busy night. We were taken care of very well. Overall, a standout in the middle of the tourist-heavy Lincoln Road area. I'll definitely be back soon. read more
We had a tough time deciding where to eat dinner in a Miami - most recommendations from friends seemed a little too upscale or like food we could get in LA. Tropezón felt distinct with a perfect price point. After a big lunch, we decided to stick to tapas, drinks and dessert. First, the decor - I love westerns, and all the movie posters and cowboy boots were really fun and playful. There are trialing pothos all over, and I felt like I was in Miami without being too gaudy. Fun and fresh! For food, we got the shishito peppers, jamon, and the empanada. The peppers were very yummy, the ham was a knockout, and the empanada was fine. I appreciated that it was a bit heavier of a portion size too. The peppers and empanada were recommended by our server. For drinks, we tried the yuzu gin and tonic, the fino martini, and the agua de Valencia. The flavor of the gin and tonic was delicious and comes with lots of basil, but I'll echo other reviewers in that there was too much ice which detracted from the drink. The fino martini was presented beautifully though was pretty strong. The agua de Valencia was delicious enough that we both ordered it. You must try it - a little tart, a little creamy, and a little safron-y! To end, we tried the burnt cheesecake and the churros. We were told the cheesecake is more savory and they were correct - the marscapone and olive oil makes it less sweet than your traditional cheese cake which I really enjoyed. The churros were soooo good though, the chocolate sauce was salted and there were so many included! I still pounded them all before we headed off to our night out. I would highly recommend this restaurant! read more

Excellent Spanish-inspired fare on famed Espanola Way came highly recommended by a local, and Tropezon did Not disappoint. A very cozy and intimate ambiance making it perfect for a date or for happy hour. Daily happy hour is served from 5pm-7pm and can be ordered from any table, not just at the bar. A $59 3 course dinner is offered for Miami Spice. Every entrée was delicious from the complimentary seasoned almonds to the outstanding braised short rib mini empanadas $15. I was delighted to be offered the chance to thank the chef in the kitchen for her amazing culinary skills. Overall: highly recommended. read more
Came for happy hour. Ordered one drink and looking for another happy hour spot! The drink is really good but I feel like there was some false advertising from pics of what cheese etc come with happy hour. Drinks are half price. And you get 4 thin slices of cheese. 4 olives and a Little bit of nuts. read more

What can I say... I just love this place. The food, ambiance, decor, service, everything! Don't leave this place without trying one of their infused flavored Gins. Favorite dishes so far are the paella negra (seafood octopus ink paella), the gambas al ajillo (prawns) and the arroz con leche. Highly recommend making reservations. read more

My bf and I sat at the bar. We asked Sarah for recommendations for absolutely everything and we're not disappointed. Starting off with drinks! This is a gin bar so of course I had a gin martini. Not just any martini though? An olive oil infused martini which blew me away! We had the tuna tartar, pan con tomato, pork belly and we also went with the meat platter that has 3 diff l. Style cuts for tasting which were all phenomenal. The look and the vibes took me back to my favorite place in Spain, Sevilla! Highly recommend this place! read more

You're Happy Hour special- is it only available in the bar area or does it extend to all areas regardless where we sit i.e. the dining room?
It's for the entire restaurant and the deal is you get a mini tapa with every cocktail purchase. It's super cute too.
