We came here for happy hour yesterday, joining a group of friends who have a standing Tuesday HH date. First, bonus for easy street parking close by! Also, the interior is super quirky; lots to look at! We had to go somewhere after HH, so we weren't drinking, but the HH drinks menu (from 4 - 7PM) looked solid! I had a spinach empanada that was OK. Larry had the sliders and also thought they were OK; it's hard to mess that up. Unfortunately, the menu is wildly expensive. The sliders were $30 and came with nothing, no salad, no fries, and the server didn't even bring a napkin. Also, it was FREEZING inside. What a great find! I can't believe we've never been here. Delicious fresh food. We had some empanadas that were outrageous- steak and the bunbury. Then we had the house made burrata that puts most others to shame. We loved the steak entraña and ended with tiramisu. All in all an exceptional meal in a very unique space. Authentic Argentine Soul in Edgewater We were looking for a steak dinner with colleagues that offered a bit more character than the standard Miami spectacle, and going the Argentinian route at Bunbury was the right call. The ambiance hits that perfect low-light steakhouse note with some truly cool decor--walking through a bookcase in the bar past a massive wall of Malbecs and a unique cabinet-drawer wall treatment set the tone for a great night at a rough wood table. We started with a variety of empanadas. I went straight for the steak and chimichurri, though the table also enjoyed the queso and lamb options. The burger sliders were standout--juicy and topped with a lovely sautéed mushroom finish that provided a great hit of umami. For the mains, my friends stuck with the traditional flank steak (one medium, one rare). I opted for the flap steak (medium), and despite the name, it was easily the most appetizing cut on the table. While they don't offer a specific "blackened" preparation, my steak had a fantastic sear and char that was bursting with flavor. I substituted the truffle mashed potatoes for the sautéed mushrooms and was very happy with the recovery-friendly swap. A note on the chimichurri: it wasn't the typical oil-heavy green mix I often see in the DC area. Instead, it was more of a chimichurri-pico de gallo hybrid. It was lighter on the oil but still delivered a strong, fresh chimi flavor--a nice twist on the classic. The ambiance is unique and very comfortable. However, the background music was not background. It was too loud and while my wife and I were struggling to hear each other the raise the volume. So, everybody had to talk louder to be heard. If you want intimate quiet conversation this is not your place. Our waiter said the specialty was the beef but I wanted fish. I ordered the Sea Bass and it tasted a little "old." I wish I had the beef. The side was risotto with peas and it was quite good. My wife had the Chicken Milanese. It was basically a Chicken Parm. Tried out this place with friends during Miami spice and what an awesome find! The space looks like you're in a moody library. It's decorated so cool and a hidden gem I'm glad I came across. There was live music as well. I highly recommend coming here with friends so you can share the different foods. I was able to try the meat dish and the pesto dish. They were both so flavorful idk how I could ever choose to order just one! The desserts weren't as good but that won't prevent me from coming back. We stumbled across this place just looking for somewhere different to go. The pictures and reviews did not disappoint. This place is extremely different than most restaurants. To be seated, they roll a bookcase to the side so that we can pass through. It looks like a secret passage. It's felt so homey and cozy. The lighting is dim and they have plants and vines all around the restaurant. The tables are nicely spread so that other parties are not on top of you. The food was AMAZING!! The waitress recommended the empanadas to start. They were delicious!!! We also had the tablita Malbec which brought sliced steak and chorizo. We also had the sliders... those were amazing as well. All 3 were different. To drink we had the sangria and an old fashion. The cutest thing was that the bill was brought in a book. I'm a big reader so that detail for me was adorable. The few times that I've been here have been great. Starting with their short rib empanadas! Best in town, melt in your mouth. And their Lychee martinis are some of the best. Several friends shared the bottomless mimosas at a great price. Service is always great. Love the bookstore/collegiate vibe...brunch was delicious. Ordered the spinach empanada, brie cocante, benedict egg florentine, and tablita malbec. Spinach empanada ($5.5): loved the baked crusted exterior and the warm spinach cheesy interior. 5/5 Brie cocante ($28): I can defintiely see why everyone keeps raving about this, the brie cheese is warm and oozes out, and the almond crusted exterioir brings a nice crunch. 4.5/5 Benedict egg florentine ($22): was curious about the brunch menu and the campo bread so we decided to order this. The campo bread was a little too toasted for my taste. It was okay but not worth the price. 3.5/5 Tablita Malbec ($39): ordered the steak as medium rare and I liked how the edges of the steak was still cripsy. Sausage was good too, and I liked the eggplant, tomato confit, and the chimichurri sauce as well. 4.5/5 Service was on top of it, refilling waters often and switching out plates/utensils. Very cool theme and ambience with the books at the entrance and the table I sat at was a desk, and when we asked for the check, it came in a book. Street parking can be hard to find, valet parking next door at the square station is discounted to $10 if you get the ticket validated by number. What a lovely restaurant. The decor is fun and creative. Tables for 2 are small desks. A great place for a bite before going to the theater at the Arsht. So my friend and I went small plates/sides. She had the goat cheese salad and the duck maigret. The salad was huge. The butternut squash puree and arugula did not seem to make it to the plate. I had the mollejas and a side of fries. The fries were great, nice a crispy the right amount of salt. I enjoy mollejas, sweetbreads, an Argentinean speciality. They would have been better were they not sliced so thin. Ambiance. This place was cool and had a live DJ playing music that we really enjoyed. I like the library vibes also and that there's pool table and a little walk-up-to-order area. So the space is basically divided in two. There's the side with the walk-up, pool table, tvs, DJ, and one long booth table that can be enclosed for privacy. The other side has a few barstool type of tables maybe 4 and then theres a long bar with stools. So this place does not have a normal sit-down situation going on. It's more of a lounge with an elevated food experience? Food. We got the entraña I believe. It was tasty but a littttle tough side than tender. The dip was good and the truffle mashed potatoes were very very good. Delicious. We had a Tempranillo wine but I did not enjoy it because it had a horse farm smell to it. Too stinky for me. If you like manure smell--go for it. Service. Our server was fine but disappeared on us at times and wasn't super friendly or anything. My friend and I started with margaritas and empanadas, both wise choices and delicious! We both ordered the Bunbury Benedict as our entre and I was extremely disappointed with the lack of seasoning. Dare I say it, but it tasted pretty bland and I really wasn't a fan of the pour over hollandaise sauce because it gets too thick once having sat for a bit.
