Still one of my favorite bars in Downtown Miami. Good happy hour and the cocktails are amazing! They recently added new concoctions to the menu just in time for the busy holiday season. Make sure to check them out. Drinks are not watered down but always well-balanced and potent. My go-to is their Old Fashioned, of course, but I have a new favorite called Urban Cowboy. It's made with Maple Bacon Infused Maker's Mark, vanilla cinnamon syrup, bitters and cedar smoke. So good! I also recently tried the Red Flag made with Cazadores Blanco, lime, agave, strawberry-infused Aperol, and topped with bubbles. So refreshing and tasty. You cant go wrong with any of their cocktails. The mixologist knows what they're doing and as a matter of fact, this place has won several competitions during SOBEWFF. Such a fun spot for a late night drink! The vibes give dive bar but the drinks are upscale and definitely worth the hype. The Porn Star Martini is the "star" of the show. We were in the area on a Tuesday night and saw the sign above the entrance to Mama Tried all lit up - but we nearly didn't come here as it looked relatively lifeless outside with little activity. We decided to walk over and have a look and I'm glad we did, as it was definitely a happy find! Mama Tried is a decent-sized eclectic bar with a pool table and a live DJ most nights, with a varied drink menu and a humorous "back story" on their website if you take the time to look it up. The bartenders were fast and friendly, and I really liked the cocktail I had - flavorful but not sickening sweet as one tends to find in many cocktail bars of late. We came here during happy hour (daily until 8pm) which includes $7 cocktails and $5 wells and it was pretty much empty when we arrived. There is a large bar area to order drinks and some tables on the exterior of the space. There is also a pool table and a music machine if you want to pay to play some tunes. We ordered the old fashioned, palomita, and the pineapple daiquiri. All the drinks were great especially the palomita; we liked the dim lights and the vibes. Our bartender was also great (didn't get his name) and he gave us some recommendations for restaurants and bars in the area. We ordered Kentucky Moscow mules with Jamison and they were delicious but next time I'm totally trying the Something Spicy with Mezcal. The Something Spicy with Mezcal has roast rosemary which is roasted in front of you in the cocktail glass. It made for a fun presentation, and the rosemary roasting was very aromatically pleasing.
