It's hidden below a set of stairs opening to a jazz club ambience. They had live jazz music playing before it turned into a night club past 10pm. I got seating at the bar. The bartender was very helpful in answering my menu questions. Menu is very extensive and has something for everyone even groups. The drinks are pricey $19-$25 individually or $99 for a group of 4. I got the It's always sunny in Miami, whiskey based cocktail with watermelon. It was light and refreshing. I couldn't taste the alcohol. Tips are included in the check plus service charge and taxes. Stumbled upon this swanky underground jazz bar in the streets of Miami. It definitely gives speakeasy vibes. Its super dark inside, they have live music or a dj depending on the time, and a list of crafted cocktails. WOW this is one of the best spots I've been to in Miami. I truly enjoyed my time here with some friends. We came to see the live jazz players and they were phenomenal. It's a great spot to hang and have some cocktails while enjoying the live music. Every drink was spot on, the vibes were immaculate. I will definitely be coming back again. The espresso martini is 10/10, if you like chocolate mint, you must try this cocktail. It has a mint essence to it and really tingles your cheeks with every sip. Came for Sunday night jazz and it was challenging to find. Stairs down only entrance. Relatively empty with 2 other people there. Ordered the sidecar and it' was refreshing and delicious. I almost ordered a 2nd drink and decided against it when the bartender got a bit cheeky with me stated he would make the drink the way he wanted, not how I requested it. Joke or no joke, I wasn't amused. Overall the band was wonderful and played consistently good music. Although I enjoyed their performance, it's not enough for me to return. By far one of the best happy hour spots in Miami with best ambiance! I went after dinner and I had their clover club cocktail, made with house made grenadine and topped with fresh raspberries. I also had the cucumber/vodka drink on their menu which was refreshing. Both of these exquisite drinks were around $11/each during their daily happy hour from 6-9 (even on weekends!) The band began to play jazz music around 7pm on Saturday and they were very good. Servers were very kind and often walked by to see if we needed anything. I can't wait to go back! The cat's out of the bag about this bar and lounge. I was fortunate enough to go for the first time in June 2023, and going a year later in June 2024, I can see that word has gotten out (thanks to New Times listing it in Miami's 100 best bars) about the quality and originality of Medium Cool's cocktails and the celebrity visits it has received. My first visit began with trying to find the entrance to the bar. It is on the side of the Gale Hotel, so naturally like a fool, I went into the hotel trying to find a pathway from the inside. No, the entrance is literally separately on the outside of the building, down a set of stairs like you're going into an underground cellar. The owner manager made us feel welcomed, just by guiding and making pleasant conversation with us. The lounge seating area was generally empty, and the bar was packed and active with people just hanging out and enjoying their drinks. We heard about live jazz happening on some nights, just not that night. Cocktails are priced around $19-24. Okay, but it is really one of those cocktail bars where you should not be asking for beer or wine. Do they even serve beer here? Do I care? It is one of the few bars where I've seen a Corpse Reviver (I and II) being offered. Their espresso martini is so velvety smooth, I love watching a bartender make it for someone thinking of how the flavors are coming together. I got an Electric Miami, their version of a Long Island Iced Tea with curaçao, the last time, because this is the only place I'd trust to make a drink as flashy but solid as a quintessential Miami cocktail. It almost glowed in the dark to let me pretend I'm in a dive bar but was well balanced to let me be assured I'm getting tipsy with class. The next visit a year later had me seeing bunches of people who were either waiting to enter the lounge, coming out of the lounge or just standing around and waiting for who knows what. Their cigarettes to light? The velvet ropes that they had set out was a stark contrast to the unassuming approach from my last visit. No cover though, just a slight wait to be allowed in with a check of bags. Again, that was new. The inside was packed with majority out of towners partying around their tables or trying to push their way through the crowds. How could I tell? Many groups were wearing similar clothing and celebrating something, like bachlorettes and reunions. Like I said, word has gotten out about this place, far and wide. Wow! I have been searching for a place like this for years! I was so excited when my boyfriend took me here for my birthday! I had seen photos of this lounge on social media but I feel that those posts didn't quite capture the experience my partner and I had. We came early on a Thursday evening and it was very peaceful and relaxing- the band was still setting up and it didn't feel crowded or noisy! The food was phenomenal- normally my partner and I are skeptical of small plates offered at cocktail lounges but the bang absolutely outdid the $$. The croquetas were phenomenal and the calamari we got was delicious! We ordered an old fashioned and another drink (I can't remember the name for the life of me) and they were great! Since we came early we got the happy hour prices and for being so close to Miami Beach they were GREAT!! The servers were all so nice too we were able to chat for a bit and they seemed lovely! Also, it was my birthday and we had visited a place that was a disastrous experience and we decided to tried a different one. Speakeasy style, the place is very elegant and perfect for a cocktail night. The ambiance was rounded out with a jazz trio. The service was excellent. The cocktail menu is extensive and cocktails are very well done. We even had a complementary glass of champagne for my bday. After jazz finished the vibe change and it became more in like a trendy Miami nightclub. We Loved the place. But when the door hostess rejects a single person for being a Man is just disrespectful and unacceptable. Especially on a night with no lines and slow summer business. Mind you I had a whole party of friends inside already. Would not even accept a cover charge. But the bouncer did not have any issue asking for a "Donation". Spent thousands of dollars at this place and the least you can offer is respectful service at the door, not arrogance and attitude. Zero hospitality skills. One of my favorite "club" lounges in Miami. I'm not into the big clubs like Liv (not anymore), but sometimes I do still want a place I can just dance, so this is a happy medium (pun intended). The cocktails are tasty, though the bar is always packed, so dont expect the bartenders to have enough time or space to really put care into them. I'm writing this review after an incredibly upsetting experience at Medium Cool in Miami Beach last night. What was supposed to be a fun night out to celebrate my friend's birthday turned into a shockingly disrespectful encounter, led by none other than the general manager. Shortly after arriving (we had only been there for about 10-15 minutes), a staff member approached my friend's wife telling that he needed the chair, since other customers were next to us sitting on chairs we asked why, the staff member couldn't explained himself and walked away. A couple of minutes later the general manager approached my friend's wife, who was quietly sitting on a stool next to the bar area. Without any courtesy, she snapped her fingers at her and demanded she stand up immediately so she could take the stool. No explanation, no "please," just plain disrespect. When my friend politely stood up for his wife and asked the general manager to speak respectfully--suggesting she at least say "please"--the manager responded by mocking him before storming off. Moments later, two security guards approached our group and asked us to leave without any justification. We were all completely stunned. It's worth noting that we had been friendly to the staff, and even used to frequent this lounge years ago when it operated under a different name. We came back with good memories, only to be treated like we weren't welcome. What's even more disturbing is that another couple next to us experienced the same rude treatment from the general manager and were equally shocked--but unlike us, they were not kicked out. This level of unprofessionalism, especially from someone in a management position, is absolutely unacceptable. Singling out and publicly embarrassing a customer who was doing nothing wrong, then removing them for asking for basic courtesy, reflects a major issue with the venue's leadership and customer service standards. I hope the ownership takes a serious look at how this lounge is being managed because no guest deserves to be treated this way. There are plenty of great places nearby, this place is probably the worst I have ever experienced in the city, ever. read more

Came here to on a Saturday night and waited an hour in the "general admission" line. It was extremely frustrating watching people skip or go in through the table line. The bar was beyond packed and anxiety inducing. After finally finding my way to the bar, Lauren turned our night around. Came here on a saturday night around 11pm, it was nice and not crowded at first the vibes were great and the people were nice, then a huge wave of people started arriving and the place was too packed to enjoy. Mind you the drinks were so good and the bartenders were nice but it took around 20 minutes to even get a drink after pushing through a sea of people to get there and I swear the crowd would just push you around and step on your toes. I know the place is pretty new and people want to experience it but it's just not enjoyable that way, I want to give it a try for it's jazz happy hours as I hear it's way more laid back and enjoyable. also want to add there is no service so good luck finding your friends Update: went again for happy hour and it was such a fun spot to vibe with live Jazz music band, the bartenders again killed it with the drinks - they have a good happy hour (6-9pm) drinks menu and the drinks are cheap! Came here for the first time with my boyfriend to celebrate valentines. Parking is a bit of a walk. They charge you like $30-$40 to park in a public parking near by. I wish they had valet to be honest. We arrived during happy hour. The drinks were amazing! I'm very picky when it comes to drinks and J was definitely drinking here. Hehe. The live Jazz band, atmosphere, and dark setting was amazing. I definitely recommend this place to start the night. I do think the servers need to be a bit more tentative or maybe they need more bartenders? Sadly our first time coming wasn't the greatest and we have no intentions of coming back. First off I believe they said they were open for about 2 months so fairly new, again things can change if feedback is taken seriously. We are Miami locals and wanted to check this new place out and nonetheless during our famous music week - we arrived checked in and security very kindly said that shorts are not allowed (mind you there was people smoking right in the front of the place wearing shorts) we pointed that out and he said I'm just security but you could talk to our door lady so we waited and she said she wasn't going to let our friend come in we were confused and pointed out the group of men who were also wearing shorts and she said "they're our friends so they can wear whatever they'd like" at the end of the day if you're going uphold standards uphold them for everyone it isn't fair when you're breaking the rules and everyone can see. It's not a good way to run a business. We ended up giving in and our friend just went to another bar nearby. Once in there was a lot of people wearing shorts but we tried not to let it ruin to much of our night. But it was way too crowded and the DJ who was playing wouldn't have stood up for that behavior and dress code. They clearly don't know their clientele. When leaving the lady with the short hair remembered us and said all snarky we hope to see you again in proper attire! Went for my birthday, Saturday 2/1/25, honestly was having a great time. I had maybe 10 people with me, everyone spending, everyone enjoying the night. For context we arrived around 10 pm, I had friends waiting for me at an open spot. All very good until 1 am or so (after just ordering a round of 10+ shots and drinks), when a woman walks up to our area, extremely rude with an air of condescending-ness and arrogance surrounding her, sits on top of the booth with her feet on my bags and my friends bag. Confused I tell her: "I'm sorry we're sitting here", with that said a man tells me "this is my table", I then ask him if he reserved the table, which would've been fine and we would've left immediately since we didn't have a reservation. He then looks very annoyed and keeps saying this is my table you need to leave you need to get up, all the while he's just texting and looking down at this phone, which after a minute or so I was like hey what's going on??? everything is good we're just trying to understand why you're coming up to us so rude and with this energy when we haven't done a thing to you to be so offended. He then says I'm the owner of the bar what else is there to tell you. As if we're supposed to have his picture engrained in our brain to know who he is. Of course my group is confused, upset, and overall just flabbergasted by the whole situation. He gets pissy and kicks us out cause he was on his entitled high horse power trip. Really sucks cause we were just trying to be reasonable HUMANS trying to talk to this man as if he had some sort of understanding and conscience in his bones. Obviously not. Wish I could get all our money back because of the co-owners attitude and for souring my night but that's that.
