We stumbled upon Blackbird Ordinary because hubby was looking for a comedy show to check out after dinner. We found the comedy show on EventBrite and ended up here at Blackbird Ordinary. It's located in the heart of Brickell close to Brickell City Centre and next to Talkin' Tacos. I've passed it many times and never been before. Our comedy show was at 9pm so we got there early and you enter a bar area with a small dance floor and DJ booth. The door guy told us to wait next to the doors by DJ booth. They opened the doors a little after 9pm and let us in. There's this whole other room in the back with tons of seating, a stage and bar area. Some of the decor felt a bit outdated, but it was still a cool vibe nonetheless. The space is so big and has so much potential for improvement, We snagged seating in the middle area. There were several cozy couples seating in front of the stage but 2nd row, we didn't want to get picked on the entire night. Lol. The two main hosts of the comedy show looked like they worked at Blackbird Ordinary as they had staff jackets on. They were in our opinion, the FUNNIEST!!! Everyone also got free shots with their tickets. Nice bonus! Lemondrop shots!!! Whew, it's been a hot minute since I did shots. Ha. After they started the show, they introduced several local or out of towner comedians and honestly, it was a good diverse crew of comedians. I wish we got a list of the comedians as I would like to check out their social media pages or follow them. Overall, we had such a good time and laughed so hard our faces hurt. This comedy show was like a hidden gem. Glad we found them and would love to come back and check out other comedians. read more

Blackbird is always a vibe, any day of the week really. I still can't believe they are open every day until 5 am. I strolled in on a Thursday afternoon and they had a happy hour of buy 1, get 1. It was a chill vibe for a Thursday but I enjoyed it bc I really came just for 1 cocktail. The blackbird drink is always my drink of choice, I love the presentation and how the cocktail stays cold up until you finish it. The service was great, the bartenders were very friendly. This place is usually busier whenever I come on the weekends but it's still a vibe during the week as well. The bartenders stated that during the week, they switch up whether the inside or outside is open. Although, on the weekends but the inside and outside patio are open. When this is going on, there are 2 different genres of music playing. It's funny because when you're inside and then walk outside, it's like you're walking into another dimension because of the change in music. I love it though! Fantastic food. That's how i will start this. I live in Delray and have been wanting to try this every Flavor of Florida but just now on the last day we went. Im so sad i didn't go before. From the crispy salmon rice bites, pffff it was the best balance, the rice wasnt soggy or damp in oil. Uf 10/10 Pork buns, wow, so tender so soft the bun. 10/10 Dumplings were perfectly cooked, steammed but still so juicy. Every single bite is still making me drool of yummy. We sat outside but please request indoors, you're gonna miss the ambiance by outside. Unless its the upper bar. Service, meh, nor from the server or the bartender. I under being busy and having different sections but speak to you guests? Like we said we came from Delray and just like she didn't care? Pricing not out of line for a major city. It appeared to be Ladies Night per the monitor above the bar, but I could see no specials or anything geared towards the ladies. Listen, I'm a big EDM fan. Like, if the beat is not building, I usually don't stay long. I typically stick to places that play EDM all night through. But when I first moved to Miami, Blackbird was the spot for me. It is chill, it is fun, and it is the kind of place where you can let loose and have a good time without needing a plan. If you want to dance, there is plenty of space for it (unless it gets mega packed). And the best part? If you are not feeling the music in one room, just go to the other. They have two rooms, two DJs, two completely different vibes. That alone makes it worth checking out. Most of the time you'll get a mix of hip hop, Latin music, and some pop sprinkled in. Honestly, even if it is not my usual scene, it is still always a good time! Also, I have never had a bad experience with the staff. Special shout-out to the bouncers who are consistently chill, respectful, and honestly just fun! I know that sounds rare for club security, but seriously, they are gold! I had an amazing time at blackbird! In one room they had hip hop while the other had more pop and latin music. It's a bar so no admissions price but the drinks are quite pricey. It was pretty packed when I was there but the vibes were perfect. Was in the back room and it was raining so the mix of the rain+music was surreal. STAY AWAY Easily the worst experience I've ever had at any place in Miami, DEFINITELY AVOID. I paid with 50's in the main bar area and they took my money no problem, an hour later in the back comedy room the bartender tried to finesse my entire group saying my 50's were fake. She continued to walk into the back with 2 of them and swapped them out with fake 50's and had the bouncers come intimidate our entire group in an effort to get us out of the building and steal the money. The one cop that works there is dirty and works for the bar, do not trust him! I had a sergeant (who was the other cops butt buddy) come who confirmed my cash was real in which after an hour they gave me both 50's back. They made up a story that the pens they used to confirm the bills were real "went bad" and when they used a new pen on it that it did confirm the bills were real! I could care less about the money, it's all about the principle. I asked to see the camera footage in which they said "that's not how it works", the police officers didn't allow me to file a police report at the time of the incident because they wanted to protect this garbage establishment. Highly advise going anywhere else in Miami, the bouncers and police officers should be completely ashamed of themselves. The cop was so dirty he turned off his body camera for the entire encounter, I'm glad I have it all on footage and it will all be reported to MDPD. The bouncers tried to persuade us to come back in with "free drinks" for the night for "their mistake" ... this wasn't a mistake this is just a failing bar trying to scam somebody out of $100 for whatever reason. High advise going anywhere else in the area, you won't have this issue. This place is known for its awful customer service, between the rude bartenders, awful police officer who works for the bar and terrible bouncers who try to steal from their customers it's not worth it at all. This place is one of my favorite dive bars in Miami! Not sure if food is served here. However, the staff is pretty chill and fast with pouring drinks. Be warned.... Went on a Saturday and a Tuesday for ladies night. The Tuesday night DJs (yes ma'am) were super awesome and we had a blast. The men who show up here are a bit predatory so go with friends. They ran 2 separate rooms and rotated through DJs probably every hour which gave us a different taste for different types of music and vibes. The low-level lights and pumping speakers made for an unforgettable night. Bottle service and bottle girls came out for different moments of the night which ignited the crowd. My visit here the other day was horrible. Went here with a group of friends after the Miami Heat game and as soon as we sat down there was a big Roach under his seat. I advised for us to move and we did. After our drink order arrived at the table, another server killed a Roach behind me. My friend who paid the bill demanded we get a discount for the discomfort and inconvenience. The server spoke with the manager she states "This is Florida and there are Roaches everywhere". We returned to this bar recently on a Sunday afternoon after several years. They have changed the layout a little bit: there is a DJ station and a dance floor where the door to the outdoor patio used to be (not sure if they still have the patio). The atmosphere however is still the same. The place consists in just one big room with booths on the sides and a big bar in the center; it's dark with reddish lights which make it very relaxing (well, during the day: I'm sure it's a different story at night). I was also glad to see that they still can make great strong drinks! Both the bouncer at the door and the bartenders were friendly, and their prices are decent. The only negative part is that they are located in the heart of Miami Downtown, which is very busy and crowded every day at all times and has very limited parking: luckily there is a garage just nearby. read more

Lose the transphobic bouncers or at least give them a lesson on the dangers of revealing someone's birth sex. I unfortunately haven't changed my name on my license for certain reasons, after forcing me to remove my mask, so that he can really get into my face I was allowed in. As I was leaving the club the bouncer, tall skinny black dude decided to announce pretty loudly "that's a man y'all" at which point words I couldn't hear were exchanged and then the entire staff laughed. I was humiliated, but what's worse is that that could have potentially have gotten me killed. Blackbird is my favorite bar in Miami. I first came back in the day when it was still Transit Lounge for a ¡MAYDAY! show (and have been back for a handful of their shows since). I'm glad that it survived, unlike Tobacco Road and some other places in the area. The place itself has a really cool, relaxed atmosphere and it's only gotten better with the improved patio area which used to be open-air but now is an air-contained covered area.
