Blackbird is my favorite bar in Miami. I first came back in the day when it was still Transit Lounge for a ¡MAYDAY! show (and have been back for a handful of their shows since). I'm glad that it survived, unlike Tobacco Road and some other places in the area. The place itself has a really cool, relaxed atmosphere and it's only gotten better with the improved patio area which used to be open-air but now is an air-contained covered area. Cool local bar in the Brickell area of Miami that I attended recently with a friend of mine that introduced me here. We had some happy hour drinks that were of very decent price. And being that it was still fairly early in the day, we didn't have to deal with any crazy crowd congestion inside and was very well attended to by the bartenders here who were cool and friendly as well. Definitely a recommend if you're a local by here or from out of town and cool for nice sized groups as well. read more

On the weekend the music is pretty good as it is open format so a little bit of everything. It tends to be a younger college crowd. Knocking off 2 stars for the very rude bartenders at outside bar, especially guy that wears a head turban. Do not order drinks from him. One of my favorite clubs in Brickell, very fun to go in a group with friends. On Tuesday nights they have ladies nights at 10 pm, so drinks (vodka, rum, whiskey based) are free until 1 AM. Music is better than surrounding clubs and it's not as hard to get a bartenders attention compared to other bars. read more

So unprofessional, My friend and I were thrown out because one of the buss boys with curly hair said he didn't like the way I looked, intoxicated looking over my shoulder while I was urinating in the bathroom. At first I didn't know who he was because it was actually insane considering what I just experienced at the moment. I then later figured out he worked there. Can't believe Security can throw me and my friend out without even hearing my story and without reasoning. They literally throw people out JUST because they want to! I am so mind blown. My friend and I (another Yelper) decided to go to ladies night at Redbar but it was dead so we walked to Blackbird... I hadn't been here in a while and I was glad to be back. Apparently it was "medianoche" night and at midnight they came around with "colada shots & medianoches" a guy playing the trumpet, another one the drums. It felt very Hora Loca. We were dancing, having a great time, when all of the sudden.... I spot it. A HUGEEEE cockroach crawling on the wall. I froze for a bit and was trying to tell my friend and when finally turns around she lets out the biggest scream. Y'all the roach was ginormous!!! I tried to take a pic but it'd crawled behind the TV by the time I took my phone out. The reason I'm giving this establishment one star is because if that giant one is crawling around when it's very loud, lights and people around - I can't even imagine what's it's like when there aren't. I'm sure there are hundreds crawling around contaminating the drinks, limes and whatnot. And I can't help but think the medianoche sandwich I ate was stepped on by a roach. This place I would never visit again. My experienced was beyond horrible. The staff are extremely unprofessional, including the supervisor/manager. I was assaulted by the untrained and intoxicated security guards; which caused bodily injury to me! On top of everything my bottle service went to waste. I've tried to give blackbird many chances. The first time I went, I was with my friends, to which one was too intoxicated to get in. Understandable, my friend tries talking to a manager of security guards I believe (african-american, long dreads) and the man just keeps on telling my friend that the girl I was with looks like she gives really good oral sex, and keeps asking my friend if he received oral sex from her. When I first heard the conversation, I had to take a step back and clear my head, because I thought I was on something when I was hearing the stuff this guy was saying. Last night I made an okay hand symbol to a bouncer (). White latino with short hair and beard I believe. He immediately signals the other bouncers to not let me in and I am barred from the club itself. The sad thing is that Blackbird itself isn't a bad club, the bartenders are cool, and it has a great atmosphere. It's just all my experiences with the bouncers are awful. They're either creepy perverts or high on power. Either way, I don't plan on coming back here again, because I don't want to support people like this. read more

He stood there like an idiot for like 15 minutes arguing with us and told us we had to show him our passports or pick up our IDs from his house...just to give them back after his little buddy told him they were real. One of the few clubs/bars in Brickell, where I never think twice about heading there. I love the mix of music and the people you find or meet here. I loved the renovation out in the patio, which it is still not completed and I hope they find a way to put some form of ac in the patio because it is way too hot during summer. I love the decorations, blackberry bird drinks , the board games available, and djs. Another cool thing, is you can bring in food from next door- La Moon, which is great for late night munchies and sit in one of their tables. read more

Happy hour is gone!!! No more BOGO's. Blackbird Ordinary, at one time, was the place to start in Brickell and, potentially, end late in the evening. The BOGO's prior to 8pm drew a crowd. Prior to 8pm on a Friday it's now a ghost town (I wonder why). The new happy hour isn't actually a happy hour? One of the drinks on the menu matches the regular menu price?? WOW! Blackbird Ordinary is far from ordinary. The drink selection has something for every one and is incredibly diverse, which makes it hard to choose. I got a "Blackbird" cocktail (sweet tea vodka, blackberries, and lemonade over crushed ice, garnished with mint leaves) and it did not disappoint! My group and I visited around 3pm on a Tuesday (was waiting for a dinner reservation elsewhere) and we were the only people in the bar. The bartender was super attentive and helpful. She explained to us how their happy hour works - BOGO drinks or a token, which can be exchanged for a drink at a later time (any day regardless if it's happy hour or not). There's plenty booths, tables, and chairs around the centralized bar. My favorite part is the shelf of board games along the back wall. The bartenders don't want you to grab your own lime because "we're in a pandemic" but grab all the limes with their hands and pass it to you. No gloves nothing. No hand washing either. They convince you to go to their patio area but tell you you can't come back in if you go out. Just make it make sense for me. read more

Blackbird Ordinary is a well-known cocktail bar in Brickell.  It also has a hell of a fun happy hour.  Hence, our presence there on a Friday, and this review. Low-key, grunge, adult fun -- the best parts of arrested development are the focus of this bar.  There are board games, classic music blasting over the speakers (70s through 2000s), and everyone's dressed like they walked off the set of a Nirvana video.  The place looks like where rock bands go to play before they strike it big.  Of course, that also means it's the place where you get to befriend the rockers before they're too famous. The service is great here.  During their 2-for-1 happy hour, they hand out poker chips as tokens that you can exchange for your second drink free.  During my visit, I got a second drink, but the tender didn't take the chip away.  The next drink I ordered, the bartender tried to take the chip for payment, but I let him know that I'd already gotten my second drink.  He thanked me for letting him know, and then 30 seconds later came back and said the drink was on the house!  It's the third time we've been here, but that sort of kindness will ensure that we're regulars here. Blackbird Ordinary's 2-for-1 happy hour (for drinks up to $16 a pop) is a tremendous bargain.  Although not primarily geared toward whiskey, the bar has some gorgeous and well-balanced cocktails.  They even have a gallery featuring each one, and I can confirm that the Woodpecker (a mix between an Old Fashioned and a whiskey soda) and the Pony Show (another Old Fashioned variant), their two whiskey-based cocktails, are both spectacular. Several of the whiskies fall within the 2-for-1 happy hour as well, so just ask the bartenders!  On the scotch side, it was mainly the blends that were eligible, but a greater variety of bourbons qualified. read more

For whatever reason, Blackbird is never top of mind for me when thinking of a Brickell happy hour spot... No longer! While at night it can get a bit cray cray, I've recently been back on the earlier side and had pleasant experiences. Happy hour goes until 8pm and features 2-for-1 drinks. After ordering your first drink, you're given a chip to redeem for the second. One of the best things about Blackbird is they have a really large cocktail list and their drinks are strong and tasty. I really enjoy the Blackbird, Woodpecker and Birds of Paradise (sense a trend?). Take a look at the special on the blackboard, too! On Friday, they let us know girls drink free well drinks from 6-7 pm. I was honestly surprised it doesn't get way more crowded because of that alone. The inside is a little too dark for happy hour vibes, but there's a large patio out back with picnic tables to hang out. There's also a bar out there if the inside gets too crowded. Last Friday, they had a live band playing around 7. To be honest, it got a little loud and made it really hard to carry on a conversation, but maybe I'm just getting old... Glad to have ventured once again to Blackbird and will definitely be back for happy hour and beyond. read more

My goodness, Blackbird is probably my new favorite "Saturday night" joint. When I look for a place to take my friends, atmosphere is always a deciding factor. Blackbird knocked this out of the ballpark. The outside area with string lights hanging above make the perfect ambiance for a lax evening. There was also an "Edible Wall" full of plants, not too sure what that is for but it definitely add a hipster feel to the place. Blackbird has plenty of signature drinks for everyone's taste. Their most popular drink "Blackbird" was amazing. (Go figure right?) The lemonade, sweet tea vodka, blackberry pureé, and mint were so refreshing. The Chileando was also a very interesting drink. It wasn't as sweet as the Blackbird, but it has a nice sour tangy taste. The bartenders were also very precise in making their drinks. They measured everything delicately and garnished their drinks beautifully. Bouncers were also very friendly. Definitely will be back for another Saturday night outing! read more

It "could've" been great... but without a drink in hand I felt limited... It's not like I needed liquid courage or anything like that but I wanted something refreshing; especially since we were watching a band in the outside patio area, it was hot and there is zero breeze.... so yeah, I wanted a drink. I would've grabbed a beer but that outside bar was not serving.... WHY NOT ? Why is there a bar on the patio if no one is going to use it ? The patio was packed and I noticed hardly anyone walking around had a drink in hand; why not ? The demand was there... Isn't that how bars make money... SO OPEN THE OUTSIDE BAR ! Logical thinking suggested I go "Inside" to grab a cold one... WHOA ! The inside bar is huge and it was being manned by just 3 people... and there was plenty of room for more servers.... Huge bar... JUST 3 bartenders (moving at a snail's pace)... tons of people around the entire perimeter (THREE DEEP) all demanding drinks........ THATS A TON OF POTENTIAL DRINKS... AND PROFITS ! ! ! But those "POTENTIAL PROFITS" are only realized if people like me don't walk out.... I ENDED UP WALKING OUT... Walked right out and went straight to a place that was staffing their bar properly and serving drinks with minimal hassle. Had it been simpler to grab a drink (more bartenders and opening the outside bar) then perhaps I would've stayed longer (contributing to your profit margin) but instead I had to leave and only WISH you could've quenched my thirst because your outside entertainment area is pretty cool.... the band was kicking ass... the patrons were more laid back than many of Miami's B.S. over-the-top clubs... Met up with some buddies from Miami here on my vacation and it was a cool bar/lounge. Location- Not very familiar with Miami but it was on the other side of the bridge in a popular area with lots of high rise buildings. Venue- From the outside it just look like a whole in the wall but once you walk in its a large joint. Large bar area, pool table, spacious, lots of seating, and a large back room with dj and dance area. Prices- Regular rates for drinks and shots, if you come on a sponsored night you might get a free drink. Staff- They seem friendly and chill. Pros: I hadn't been to Blackbird in years, I love the renovated enclosed outdoor area, the clear ceiling is neat. Drinks weren't too pricey compared to other places in the area, I had wine for $10 a glass, I was expecting them to charge $12-15, so I was happy. The place was ridiculously packed, but they had several bartenders, so the wait for a drink wasn't long. Cons: The wine had definitely been open for a while, it was a bit vinegary, but not enough to send it back. The cigarette smoke outside SUCKS. Fun for a night out if you like dancing to top 40 music. read more

I know that's a bit early, and it's Brickell, but it wouldn't have been an issue if the music were quieter and the lights turned up... If it's too early for a club atmosphere, do a bar atmosphere, and turn up the music later in the night, especially if you serve so many craft cocktails but also have such generic music playing and pretty mid speakers. Blackbird Ordinary attracts quite the crowd. The inside bar was swarmed with patrons looking to indulge in BO's tasty libations. Perhaps because during HH, the outside bar was closed? Go figure. I will say, they have a lengthy HH that goes from 3-8p on Fridays serving two-for-one drinks. I tried the Bearded Bellybird made with Panther Cold Brew. Delicious! Their token system allowed me to come back for my second drink. Admittedly, I opted to relinquish my second drink to a friend while I went to grab some grub. When we met up, they informed the second drink (not chosen from the regular menu) was not very good. Ouch. The ambiance of BO doesn't feel very different from when it used to be Transit Lounge. Dark. Loud. Crowded. Not exactly my bag of beans. Fortunately, we were able to score a table outside. However, in the South Floridian humidity, it wasn't much of a consolation. The fans helped very little but even at 6p, it wasn't too pleasant to be outside either. What I did find cool was the garden wall (or whatever they called it). I also like that they have a wall of games to choose from. I LOVE be able to play games while sitting around and enjoying drinks. Points for that. Overall, it's an ok place. I haven't fallen in love with it just yet. Maybe in time, I just might get won over. read more

During my trip to Miami, I visited Blackbird on Tuesday for Ladies Night as well as briefly for free tacos on Cinco De Mayo. I've been to Blackbird multiple times in the past when I studied in Miami but just have not written a review for the place. Since I last visited they added a roof to the "outdoor" area. This is a huge plus now that you can enjoy Blackbird even if it rains. Blackbird is always filled with lots of trendy young adults. They have a full bar inside with booths to chat and relax. The outside is basically an open area with a few booths and a stage/dj area. The like to host games and challenges on stage so its always a fun time. It can definately get really crowded especially on Ladies Night. Normally blackbird is on the pricey side for drinks but on Ladies Night ladies drink free (limited drink options but the blackbird is a solid tasty option)Music at blackbird can definately be a hit or miss. A friend took me here on our little Miami vacation, as she knew the area and this was one of her faves. It was a Wednesday night, so there wasn't much dancing and the bar was pretty empty. The large, open patio/dance floor/stage has been covered..... she tells me it was nice having it open. The weather was also bad that night, so hopefully it still opens up sometimes. My friend recommended the signature drink, The Blackbird. She insisted I order it because it was THAT good. I don't usually like really sweet drinks but this was SO fresh and delicious, made with blueberries, vodka, and crushed ice. Highly recommended! It was karaoke night, and there are board games outside. We played some Battleship with a random guy before we decided to call it a night. Really cool bar with character, and something for everyone! Would love to go back on a night when it's poppin' (do people use that word anymore? I find myself having to be extra cautious about my old lady slang).
