It's also a really cute, romantic spot for a date night. We started with the meatballs, which were so delicious that we actually ended up ordering another one. We also tried a few different pastas, including a Bolognese and a gnocchi dish. Everything was really good and flavorful. Since the menu is pretty much all pasta, the food is definitely on the heavier side, but if you're in the mood for pasta, this is a great spot. The service was also really good. TLDR - Bad service, Bad ambiance, Good food. Today I made a reservation on behalf of my son at Pasta e Basta for his girlfriend's birthday. I also made sure to put in the requests that it was a special occasion. Unfortunately, upon arrival they did not treat them the best. The hostess was rude about allergy concerns and told them to take it up with their server. They were then led to their table by another staff member whom was also rude about allergy concerns. They finally sat down and placed their order - the server was helpful with the allergy concerns and the meal was smooth sailing since. Unfortunately the birthday was not acknowledged after being mentioned both in person at the restaurant and written on the reservation. The real kicker was when my son arrived home with his left overs (which were taken from the table and packaged in the kitchen) there was a hair in his plate. That is unacceptable of a place that supposedly holds themselves to such a high standard. They said the food was good, but the overall experience made them, and quite frankly myself, never want to visit this restaurant again. read more

WOW!!! If you've ever eaten Italian food in Miami, you have not known true authenticity unless you've eaten here. Pasta e Basta has truly surpassed all expectations that I've had in the past. First we started with the bruschetta which came with three different beautifully plated slices of bread topped with tomatoes, raw pork, and straciatella, pesto, and anchovies. My mind was blown from the start. The bread itself was fluffy, and the toppings melted in your mouth. The umami from the saltiness of the anchovies paired with the freshest tomatoes I've ever tried left me wanting more. For my main course I chose... carbonara of course. But might I say, I think this is the first time I've had carbonara as nothing has ever been as delicious as this meal. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the consistency of the sauce a perfect thickness that left your mouth watering for the next bite. The guanciale had the perfect crisp accompanied by a magnificent fatty layer - the perfect protein to any carbonara. And for the finale - the one that guarantees I will come back a million times over - the tiramisu. Often times, tiramisus are either overpowered by the taste of coffee or by the sweetness of the mascarpone; not here. The most perfect balancing act existed within this plate alone. I will live the rest of my life dreaming about this dish. Our server, Mirko, was extravagant. Truly kind and willing to go above and beyond. The ambience, both indoors and outdoors, was cozy and inviting, (could be a great option for a date night). One consideration for the owners: there are several stand-alone fans on the patio, but it would be nice if they released cooler air, especially during the summer. The food was good. Place is small, but very charming - it has a cool and hip med/California vibe. We showed up to celebrate an event without a reservation on a Friday night around 8:45p (peak hour), and the staff was very polite and accommodating - we waited maybe 15 minutes before they found us a table for 3. The food was great: I had the carbonara - it was delicious - I rarely, if ever, give high praise, and this dish was a 6 out of 5 - it was not like any carbonara I've ever had, but it was delicious. The crispy cured guanciale (pig cheek) was out of this world (really crispy and flavorful - mind you since it's cured it's very salty, but I love salty). And the pecorino Romano had a strong acidity to it making the dish the best carbonara I've ever had. We also ordered the BEEF LASAGNA and CONCHIGLIONI AL SUGO DI CARNE (short rib pasta). I only tried the lasagna and it was decent, I would order it - I'd rate it a 4 of 5. I did not try the short rib pasta, but my friend said it was great. Throughout the experience, the staff kept frequently, professionally and 'seamlessly' checking on us without intruding at any point - they were prepared for recommendations and knew how to politely handle anything you threw at them. For desert we tried the CHEESECAKE BASCA (basque cheesecake) and it was delicious 5 out of 5 - portion is so good it's not big enough. We also tried the SALAME AL CIOCCOLATO, which are homemade chocolate cookies from a sausage form factor - they bake them into sausage shape with Callebaut Cocoa. Crushed Biscuits and Coffee Kalua. Then slice them like salame - you get four pieces - I don't like chocolate, and I enjoyed these, especially contrasted against the cheesecake. 5/5 for chocolate lovers. If you want a cool hip but intimate restaurant to take a date or a lunch business partner, this is a good spot. I loved the al dente texture of both of our pastas. If I had to choose, my favorite would be the cavatelli because of the denser texture of the cavatelli and the beef was really good with it. Worst Customer Service Experience Ever This was hands down the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. The manager, GianMaria el manager una Basura de persona , treated my daughter and me with complete disrespect and discrimination. We were made to feel unwelcome from the moment he approached us. What truly crossed the line was when my baby's food was asked to thrown away several times. As a parent, this was shocking, humiliating, and unacceptable. There was zero empathy, no attempt to resolve the situation, and no accountability--only attitude and arrogance from management. No family should ever be treated this way, especially when a baby is involved. Customer service was nonexistent, and management behavior was disgraceful. I will never return and strongly warn other families to avoid this place They did not offer any kids menu options, we were the ones who asked if there was something that they could adapt; they said pasta with any sauce, the manager did not offer anything for my baby, we asked the waiter. we obviously understood that we could not bring food; so we put them in boxes as they required, but the manager keep harassing; and told us that my daughter has 5 minutes (yes, 5 minutes to eat her food); he asked to leave the place. I came here with a few friends after one saw an Insta post of their tagliatelle Bolognese. A group of us started the long weekend by finally meeting up for dinner Friday. Getting there first - I know, a rarity - I waited at the bar while enjoying a glass of "Vigna Senzanome" moscato. With it not being overly sweet and having a hint of sparkling in it, even one of my dining companions who's not a moscato fan said she enjoyed it. After we secured our spot in the outside patio (there's also a cozy inside dining room), we started with their fluffy bread and olive oil. The bread was also a table favorite. I don't believe they had balsamic vinegar though. My choice of appetizer was their pork meatballs. Served in a smoky pomodoro sauce and with more pieces of the yummy bread, this dish was a star. Heck, I shared it on my insta immediately! Likewise with the star of the show, the dish that brought me here: the Tagliatelle a la Bolognese. The noodles had a great texture, just a dash beyond al dente, and the yummy ground pork & ragu sauce were very well prepared. As we were eating family style, this dish was another fave around the table. The reason my review drops to 3 stars is alas also because we ordered family style. One of my friends ordered their rigatoni a la carbonara. Sampling it, I agreed with her that the pork was a little too salty for everyone's taste. The original "requester" even had to send it back. In contrast, the 4-cheese gnocchi was lacking in flavor. However, the red sauce ravioli that made up a friend's order was another saving grace. I enjoyed both desserts we tried: the creamy and smooth basque cheesecake as well as the fig tart. A minor pet peeve was the water. We have our own organic tap water from Hialeah that even the major commercial bottled water companies use. Why we have to pay $8 for "Acqua Panna" even though they have tap water (brought after our bill) was annoying. Also, I am not sure if even with a reservation, but typically you have 90 minutes per seating. I understand it with the space being cozy, just "hurry up". Of course, there's also an 18% automatic tip, although they do split the check, In summary, it earned a spot on my placeholder list for now. We were a party of 5 and as soon as we walked in we were greeted by the hostess, who gave us a warm welcome and told us to wait a few minutes.
